Chapter 38 - Injuries
Selena's POV
I remember how much it hurt, everything aching, stinging, pounding. I remember wanting it to stop, I remember begging for it to stop. I remember losing control and phasing into whichever form can take the most pain. I remember passing out from the pain and exhaustion. So where am I now?
I tried to open my eyes but my face hurt when I did, my left eye could only squeeze open a tiny bit, something seemed to be blocking it from below. All I could see through my eyes was bright, it took a while for some blurry forms to appear.
I could not tell where I was but something cold slid into my left hand and it actually helped to ease the pain in that appendage. I turned my head to see what was there and pain flared up everywhere from my chin down my shoulders at the effort.
I could see a white and copper blur that I couldn't quite identify. And then the blur started to speak.
"It's Edina," the soft voice spoke and I closed my eyes to rest them, now knowing who was there.
"Leah has your right hand, but she's asleep right now." My friend informed me and I focused on my right hand to find it encased in warmth.
How is she? I asked him concerned, Leah always worried to much, if I was hurt she was in bad shape. We fought most of the time but whenever I was sick I had to remind her to leave my side to get something to eat and mum and dad would have off drag her off to school.
"She's alright," Edward told me. Wait, it's Edina now isn't it? "She's tired and she refuses to leave you, she's sleeping right now. Esme has been bringing her food and I do my best to ensure she eats it." She paused for a moment before speaking again. "She's really worried about you." Edina informed me.
She worries too much. I thought to my friend who squeezed my hand lightly.
"Maybe," she did not comment further.
I tried to remember what happened but all I got was a blur and a headache.
There was a long moment of silence. "Jacob beat you," Edina said so quietly I barely heard her.
Suddenly an image resurfaced in my mind of Jacob standing over me with a bloody fist raised. The image triggered an uncontrollable pounding in my head, followed my sounds of yelling and more images of Jacob.
The cold hand in mine tightened slightly and I shook my head to remove the images, unfortunately that served to worsen my headache dramatically.
"I won't let him touch you again," Edina vowed and I wanted to explain but I was just too tired so I lay there as the blackness overtook me.
Authors Note: I know it is pitifully short but I can't really see how to fix that at the moment.
tlc125 - I'm glad you liked it, there will be some more conflict within the pack to come, as I assume you can guess.
daota1 - No I did not take offence. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and just because this was not your cup of tea does not make it bad, some people liked it others didn't. The fact that you said it was good while not the sort of thing you are generally interested in is more of a compliment than liking it for what is says not how it says it. Sorry if that made no sense I am half asleep while writing this.
