Bryson vs. Brandon N
Seth vs. Virgal
"Huh. I guess I'm not battling." Tyler said to himself.
"Hey look! Brock's battling!" Said Misty.
"Yeah, but look who against!" Said Iris. They all looked to see the face of a familiar trainer.
"That's the guy who beat Luke!" Cried Ash.
"Yeah. That guy is pretty strong. Be careful Brock." Warned Tracey.
Brock just stood there trembling.
"What, you're not scared are ya Brock." Teased Gary.
"Uhhh… I uhh… hehe, ahhhh…"Brock stuttered.
"Well that's too bad. I bet nurse Joy would've been pretty impressed if you beat him." Hinted Dawn.
"Barrett! You're going down!" Brock yelled in determination and ran off to prepare.
"Not bad Dawn." Said May.
"He just needed a push."
"All right let's check out some battles!" Ash said as he did a fist pump.
Alright Empoleon hydro cannon
Empoleon opened its beak and fired a ball of highly pressured water.
Flygon fire blast
A five star shaped stream of fire shot out of the mystic pokemon. The 2 attacks collided and lots of steam spread across the battlefield.
Empoleon drill peck
The water starter shot forward for a blind drill peck into the steam. Once it reached the other side all it saw was a hole.
"Oh no." Barry said.
Now dig
Flygon came up from the ground under Empoleon and sent it flying. By the time it reached the ground it was knocked out.
"Empoleon is unable to battle, Flygon wins and victory goes to elite 4 member Drake. The crowd cheered in appreciation for the dragon trainer.
"So Barry's out, that's too bad." Said Dawn.
"He only lasted 3 rounds. I thought he'd get farther than that." Ash said.
"I thought he was good, but not everyone can beat a member of the elite 4." Tyler bragged.
"Then why don't you battle him right now." Challenged Dawn.
"I need to save my energy for the tournament." He told her.
"Nice excuse." Gary commented. Tyler just glared at him.
"Now that Barry is out maybe he can chill out and stop screaming." Iris thought out loud.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! How can this happen! Me AND my dad lose in the same round! THIS IS IMPOSSIBLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!" Barry shouted in the locker room following his loss against Drake.
"Or not." Groaned Iris.
"Barry calm down." Said Dawn.
"Ash since you've beaten me before, you or Nitro better win this tournament OR ELSE!" Barry screamed at him.
"Ok ok fine Barry, geez." Said Ash annoyed.
Barry took a deep breath and calmed down. "Now that I've gotten that out of my system good luck in the rest of the tournament." He said with a thumbs up.
"You got it Barry." Ash said returning a thumbs up of his own.
Alright time for battle #5. The crowd roared in anticipation. Our first trainer is a former Kanto gym leader, breeder and a up-and-coming pokemon doctor. From Pewter city, Brock!
Brock walked out on the battlefield composing himself with dignity and restraint as his friends cheered him on. He reached his side of the field and was ready to face his tough adversary.
And his opponent, a trainer who shows his power will knock aside anyone in his way, Barrett!
Barrett walked out of the tunnel and into the spot light. The crowd cheered loudly for the Unova trainer who's proven that actions speak louder than words.
"Last time we saw him Barrett used Eelectross and Bisharp." Said Iris.
"Brock's best bet is to use Steelix against Eelectross and Toxicroak against Bisharp." Tracey said.
"True but remember Eelectross can use flamethrower witch is super effective on Steelix. There is no way this battle is going to be easy for Brock." Said Gary.
"Battle begin!"
"Eelectross come on out!"
"Swampert let's go!"
Both pokemon appeared ready to do battle.
"Look it's Eelectross again." Pointed Max.
Swampert use water gun
The mudfish shot a powerful stream of water from its mouth.
Flamethrower
Eelectross countered with a fire attack and blinded Brock and Swampert with steam.
Dragon claw
Eelectross emerged from the steam to slash across Swampert with blue glowing claws.
Swampert mud bomb
Swampert fired a ball of mud at the eel. The attack hit but Eelectross didn't look fazed.
"Huh? What happened!" Wondered Brock.
"How come Eelectross doesn't look hurt?" Asked May.
"The attack hit it head on but it did nothing." Said Dawn.
"That's because Eelectross has the ability levitate. It makes Eelectross immune to any ground type attacks." Explained Gary.
"That's one awesome ability!" shouted Max.
"But Eelectross is an electric type. Ground types are the only ones with an advantage against it." Said Misty.
"But with that ability Eelectross's only weakness is covered for, making it one tough pokemon to beat." Tyler said to them.
"Especially with the high level of training Eelectross seems to have." Added Gary.
"Wow, Brock's in hot water." Said Ash as he slouched over in his seat. No one thought this battle was going to be easy.
Flamethrower
Eelectross shot flames out of its mouth and scorched Swampert.
"Eelectross return." Barrett commanded as he held up his pokeball.
"What? He's switching now?" Said Ash.
"Druddigon let's go!" A winged dragon with a blue body and red head appeared on the field. It had a tan belly, spikes covering its arms and tail and had an intimidating battle presence.
"Whoa that's Druddigon, a dragon type!" Iris said admiring the dragon from Unova.
"Druddigon. That could be tough to beat." Said Gary quietly.
Dragon claw
Muddy water
Druddigon tried to slash Swampert with its claws but the mudfish countered quickly with muddy water and literally swamped Druddigon.
Focus punch
Swampert charged fist first at Druddigon
Superpower
Druddigon merely turned and grabbed the Swampert's attempted punch and threw it over its shoulder towards Barrett's side of the field.
"No, Swampert!" Cried Brock.
Dragon claw
Druddigon ran up from behind Swampert and raked its claws across its face and stood in front of its trainer.
"Swampert get up!" the Hoenn starter struggled to push itself up to its feet and stood ready to battle.
Muddy water
Swampert summoned a tidal wave of swamp water and surfed on it on its way to Druddigon
Superpower
Druddigon stood strong as the wave washed over him and caught Swampert as the wave past. Druddigon summoned all the muscular strength it had and threw Swampert across the field until it landed in a heap in front of the squinting breeder.
"Swampert is unable to battle, Druddigon is the winner!"
Brock accepted this defeat and returned his loyal water starter. He grabbed his second pokemon and prepared for battle. "Go Ludicolo!"
Brock's choice was the Carefree Pokémon. Ash hadn't seen it since way back in the Hoenn region.
"Why does a rock gym leader have a grass type pokemon?" Asked Iris.
"Well he's not a gym leader anymore, so why should he limit himself to one type." Ash explained.
Ludicolo ice beam
Ludicolo fired a super effective ice attack and hit Druddigon as it cringed with pain.
Druddigon dragon claw
The cave pokemon came back with a powerful dragon claw as it charged and hit Ludicolo.
Flamethrower
Druddigon immediately followed up with a searing fire attack.
Use razor leaf
Ludicolo launched several razor sharp leaves that swept by Druddigon leaving several scratches and cuts on him.
Use water gun
Ludicolo shot a quick stream of water at the dragon type. However Druddigon just crossed its arms and blocked the attack.
Ice beam
Druddigon once again blocked the attack by crossing its arms. Although the attack still hit it head on and did a fair amount of damage.
"No way! How is Druddigon still standing." Gasped Brock.
"That Druddigon is one tough cookie." Said Barry.
"Nothing Brock's doing seems to work." Said Dawn.
"It seems like no matter what he tries Barrett has Druddigon just overpower it." Misty said.
"So I've noticed. Brock's in major trouble." Gary told her.
Superpower
Druddigon rushed forward to grab Ludicolo.
Ludicolo jump
The carefree pokemon leaped into the air to avoid Druddigon's grasp and was hovering right over the cave pokemon.
Draco meteor
"Oh shit." Groaned Tyler. He knew what was coming.
Druddigon generated an orange and red ball of pure dragon energy in its mouth and fired it into the air. It flew up past Ludicolo and was ready to burst.
Quick, use bullet seed
Ludicolo shot several tiny green seeds at Druddigon while still in midair. While Druddigon was being hit the Draco meteor exploded into many more, smaller balls of energy and rained down on the hovering Ludicolo. Down with the Draco meteor came Ludicolo as it crashed back to the battlefield.
"Ludicolo is unable to battle, Druddigon is the winner!"
"That was Awesome!" Barry cheered.
"Now Brock has just 1 pokemon." Said Dawn.
"I know, while Barrett still has 3." May followed.
"Maybe, but that Druddigon isn't looking so good." Acknowledged Tracey. Druddigon had taken a lot of damage
"Even still, I know that Brock can still win this." Ash suddenly said.
"How can you be so sure." Asked Tyler. "Barrett's been running this whole battle."
"I know because I've battled him before. He's raised his pokemon really well, he just needs to use the right one." Ash said as he focused back on the battlefield.
"Alright this is it." Brock said to himself.
"Toxicroak let's go!"
Brocks final pokemon was the toxic mouth pokemon. If there was anything that could help turn this battle around he thought it would be the power of Toxicroak's poison jab. He should know, after all he's been hit with it enough times.
Across the field Barrett raised his hand and recalled his Druddigon.
*Huh? He's switching pokemon just like that?* Thought Brock.
"Go Bisharp!"
Barrett's 3rd pokemon was black and red and covered with blades all over its body.
"Bisharp, that's a good choice." Said Gary.
"How do you figure?" Asked Ash.
"Since Bisharp is a dark and steel type a fighting type like Toxicroak seems like an excellent choice." Explained Max.
"That makes sense to me." May said at her brother's logic.
"Maybe but pokemon types aren't everything. Move types are important too. Because Bisharp is a steel type any poison type attacks won't have any effect." Explained the Oak grandson.
"Oh no! That means Toxicroak can't use poison jab or poison sting." Dawn realised.
"Not only that but dark pulse will have very little effect on a steel and dark type." Said Tyler.
"So all Brock can do is use brick break." Worried Ash.
"He's finished." Gary said to himself.
The 2 intimidating pokemon stared each other down from their respective sides of the field.
Brock began to wonder. *Strange. He won't make the first move. Fine then…*
Toxicroak brick break
Toxicroak jumped forward with a red glowing hand ready to smack down Bisharp.
Dodge it
Bisharp quickly leaped back and did a back flip to successfully avoid the super effective move.
Use dark pulse
Toxicroak put its hands together and fired a beam of dark purple rings. Bisharp knelt down on one knee and crossed its blade covered arms to easily block the attack. Like Tyler said, it would have very little effect.
Brick break
Toxicroak once again tried to beat Bisharp with a fighting attack, but Bisharp was always able to avoid getting hit. After 3 more brick breaks and 2 dark pulses Brock and Toxicroak were getting annoyed.
"Very strange." said Gary.
"What?" Asked May.
"Barrett's doing things differently this time." Said Gary.
"I know what you mean." Said Tyler.
"What? What does he mean?" Asked Dawn as she looked back and forth between the 2 of them.
"Well up until now Barrett has used the power of his pokemon to defeat all of his opponents. But now it's different. All he's doing is running and dodging." He explained.
"Maybe it's because he's afraid of being hit with a fighting attack. Bisharp would take a lot of damage if it got hit with break break." Said Tracey.
"I don't think that's it. If Barrett was so worried of being hit with brick break then he would've switched to Eelectross. There has to be a reason for Bisharp to be out there." Said Gary.
"Probably to neutralize any poison attacks and severally limit the power of dark pulse." Max said.
"Maybe. We'll have to see." Said Gary.
Toxicroak brick break
Toxicroak once again tried to hit the blade pokemon with a super effective move. Bisharp made no immediate attempts to dodge this time.
"This is it." Brock said.
Guillotine
Bisharp crossed its arms and the blades on its arms glew silver. Bisharp lunged out and slashed across the poison frog as it fell to the ground and that was that.
"Toxicroak is unable to battle, Bisharp is the winner and victory goes to Barrett of Opelucid city!"
And with a single attack Bisharp has defeated Toxicroak to earn another decisive victory for Barrett!
"So that's why. He was hiding away a guillotine attack." Said Gary.
"Wow. Brock lost 3-0." Said Max.
"He is really strong." Tyler said with a smile. He was looking forward to the challenge.
