It was early morning by the time they boarded the cruise ship. As Sakura entered their cabin, she was surprised with a large room of first class. The bed was soft as was the carpet beneath her feet, the personal bathroom to the left of the doorway as they walked through.
"What else are you going to surprise me with?" She asked as she sat on the large bed.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Syaoran smiled.
"I might." She replied.
"Well, I'm not telling you."
"Lame." She muttered. "So where does this cruise go?" She asked, "Or is that one of the questions I'm not allowed to ask?"
He continued to smile as he sat beside her, "It's around Europe, and we're getting off at Italy."
"Why Italy?"
"There's someone I want you to meet in Rome. When in Rome, do as the Romans do." He shrugged.
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever." Sakura stood and stretched her arms, "So, when does the boat leave?"
"Shortly; why don't we go see what's around?" He suggested.
"Sure."
They walked around together, and Sakura easily spotted the bar and restaurant. There were a couple of pools, which were closed until further notice and many recreational places for children while adults could relax and enjoy themselves. They took a seat in the lounge, which was mainly empty, most likely because most passengers were either in their cabins or were off doing other activities with their partners or children, and Sakura could feel the boat moving.
"What would you like to do today?" Syaoran asked Sakura as they sat together.
"Hmm, I'm not sure. I think I'm happy just sitting here like this for now." She replied.
He smiled, "If that is what you want."
The next morning Sakura woke to the sun coming through the only window and onto her face. She groaned and buried her face in Syaoran's shoulder, too tired to be bothered to get up just yet. Syaoran smiled and ran his fingers lightly through her hair.
"You know you can't stay in bed all day."
"I could if I tried." She mumbled.
"But there is so much to do." He laughed.
She sighed and opened her eyes to look up at him. He was looking back at her as he always did, and leant in to kiss her. She kissed him back and he parted, smiling at her as he got up and dressed. She sighed and followed, dressing in a summer dress, and they left for the dining room together.
Later in the afternoon, Sakura was sitting beside the pool beneath the warmth of the sun; she wore a lightweight pale blue summery top over the top of her emerald green bikini to hide her scars from the surrounding strangers. Syaoran had gone to get her a drink, so she was alone while she waited. As she waited by the poolside on her own, she was approached by a couple of men around her age. "Hey gorgeous, what are you doing here on your own?" One of the men flirted with her.
She raised her brow, "Enjoying the sun-what are you doing here on your own?" Sakura replied with a hint of sarcasm.
Slightly taken aback by her retort, he quickly gathered himself and smiled. "I'm not on my own." He said.
"Oh? You look pretty lonely to me. No girlfriend, no wife…unless you swing the other way, that is. But I don't think you do because you're flirting with me." Sakura shrugged.
He laughed, "Well you got me there. My friends and I are on business."
"Good for you." She muttered, uninterested.
"It's such a warm day; why wear a top over your swimwear?" He asked.
Sakura was beginning to get really pissed off with this stranger. All she wanted was for him to go away. "Gee, I dunno, maybe I don't want to get burnt." She replied irritably.
"Oh, I see."
"Sakura, they didn't have what you wanted so I just got you this instead." Syaoran pulled her attention from the men and Sakura felt relief as she took her drink.
She smiled, "Thank you, that's fine."
Syaoran noticed the three men and looked to Sakura, "Oh, who are these gentleman?" He asked.
"No idea." Sakura shrugged. "I don't think they realised I'm married." She smiled sweetly.
The men quickly left and Sakura smiled, satisfied. "Thank god for that…"
"What did they want?" Syaoran asked curiously.
"Well, he was flirting with me, so I assume some sort of company." Sakura replied. The look on her face was disgusted at the thought of doing such a thing.
Syaoran stayed silent, feeling a little jealous, and Sakura continued to look up at the sky as she tapped her feet together.
"It was really frustrating. As if I'd ever turn my back on you." She said casually.
He smiled and sat besides her, watching the teenagers and children splashing around in the pool. Some of the adults were relaxing in the water, cooling down from the heat, while Syaoran and Sakura continued to just sit beside each other and enjoy their drinks and company.
In the evening they headed towards the dining hall for dinner. It was an expensive place, however their meals had already been paid for in their travel fees. The dining hall had plush red carpet and expensive round wooden tables with white silk tablecloths set out around the room.
"Ugh, I feel underdressed in here." Sakura muttered as she walked in.
"You said that this morning as well." Syaoran replied.
"It's so fancy."
He laughed and pulled a chair out for her and she took a seat, and he took a seat after her. Sakura picked up the menu and stared at it for a while, trying to figure out what she wanted to eat, but couldn't think of anything. She placed the menu down and sighed.
"Have you decided on what you want?" Syaoran asked.
Sakura shook her head, "No. I don't know what I want." She replied.
"Why not something simple?" He suggested.
"Yeah alright." She mumbled.
One of the waitresses walked over and took their order, and then left. They sat together chatting until their meals were brought out along with their drinks, and then they occupied themselves in the lounge for a while.
A couple of days passed and they docked at a small European town that was famous for keeping its old architecture from the Victorian era alive. The roads were smooth brick compared to gravel, and even the lampposts were of the old era. Sakura was amazed by the difference in the types of building compared to back in Clow, and she couldn't help but stare. Syaoran smiled as they walked together down the path, amused by Sakura's reactions.
"You really like the place, don't you?" He asked as they walked.
"I've only ever seen architecture like this in photo's and pictures, but seeing it up close is amazing." Sakura replied.
He laughed, "There are a few shops around; do you want to go have a look?" he asked.
"Sure," She smiled.
They walked around the shops for a while, and Sakura found a few pieces of jewellery she liked along with a few pieces of clothing, including a dress, a couple of tops and a skirt, and then with the time they had left they continued to explore the small town until they were expected to get back to the dock for the afternoon activity which was a tour around the town with access to the museum and other recreational places. They visited part of the town that was famous for the rare types of roses it bred and grew, and there Sakura spent her time admiring the different colours and breeds of rose.
"Here."
She looked up from where she was kneeling in front of a rose bush, and saw Syaoran holding a small bouquet of a few different types of roses.
"You seemed to like these the most."
She smiled and took the flowers from his hands, "Thank you, Syaoran."
He returned her smile, "They have the seeds as well, so you can plant them at home. I bought a couple of packets in case you were interested."
"Thanks!" She beamed. She decided that when they got home she'd try and grow some of the roses she had seen, and as they headed back she couldn't help herself from looking at the instructions and guides for each type of rose for when they should be planted during the year and the type of care they needed. Syaoran found her rather amusing as they headed back to the cruise ship and Sakura placed the flowers in a vase in their cabin once they got back. After that they headed to the dining hall for dinner and then spent their night together playing silly board and card games in their cabin.
