AN: Sorry it took such a long time for me to get back to this, it took a long time for me to get over what I heard was happening in Season 6 and I hope many people will not watch so they'll have to explain their failing ratings =D. I was recently told by a writing instructor (that my parents paid $250) that my writing was terrible and I should reconsider my career choices, but I love writing so here I am. I forgot my plans for these next chapters, but I hope everyone will enjoy them anyway - Fae206/hufflepuff-fay
Part 35
It felt like the best news of Kurt Hummel-Anderson's life, okay maybe it was beat by a few moments, Blaine becoming his boyfriend, fiancee, husband, as well as Blaine telling Kurt that he loved him, but it was still excellent news. Blaine was going to be taken out of his cryogenic state in a week. Finally Kurt could look into those honey-amber eyes and wrap his arms around that protective body, he could be with his gorgeous, heroic husband. It felt amazing.
Kurt sat by the tube containing his husband as they talked about the rapid nerve repairs as if by magic. Whereas before Blaine had difficulty moving all but one arm, now he could use his legs a little as well as his other arm more fully. It felt like some kind of dream, it felt like a miracle and Kurt was so excited to be getting his husband back.
It had been just over two months and though he had spent time catching up with both Rachel and Mercedes, he was more than ready to be with the person he adored.
"So, we need to make sure you've set things up at your home," the doctor who was working on Blaine, a friend of his, explained. "Blaine will need some assistance with many things, but he'll get better and then he'll manage to accomplish new tasks each day. I think it will be stressful for both of you, but each step he progresses should be commented positively on."
Kurt smiled and nodded his head, his eyes so full of joy that Blaine was going to be here with him again. This time in all senses of the word, Kurt would do his best to protect Blaine. He wouldn't wander off even if Blaine asked.
"Can you give me a list of things I can do for him?"
Kurt's voice had a distinctive cheer to it and he looked up eagerly. He was ready to learn, he was ready to be caretaker as much as Blaine needed him to be.
The doctor nodded as she grabbed her clipboard and started to write things down, Kurt watching as the detailed list grew longer and longer, but it didn't matter how long this list got. Kurt would be the ever dutiful husband.
After the doctor had finished she led Kurt back to the entrance, still informing him of Blaine's condition. It was during a discussion about diet and exercise that they were stopped by a nurse.
"Doctor Mendez, there's something that you need to see. It was just found out that Blaine's brother was kept alive…."
Kurt's heart started to pound in his chest, Cooper was alive? He probably had many chips in his mind if he was alive, but him being alive…was that possible? Hadn't Blaine witnessed him die? Hadn't that been the complete torture that made it so Doctor Hummel-Anderson had dropped the last part of his name? How on EARTH could Cooper be ALIVE?
Kurt was shaken up when he listened to the newscast, apparently the organization had kept Cooper with some other prisoners for years, they had put him in a cryogenic state only to wake him up when there were new torture methods, then he would spend weeks having them tested on him before being forced back to being frozen. It was a sadder story than his younger, or maybe even older now, brother had been through.
A nurse appeared at the door, "Doctor Mendez, there's someone here who says they are Doctor Hummel's brother, he's…not really giving our hospital the best image at the moment and I'm afraid of him scaring the patients."
Doctor Mendez nodded as she and Kurt headed towards the entrance and waiting room.
As soon as Kurt got there he knew it was Cooper. Despite the heavy beard, the torture in his eyes, the untidy and uncut hair, the weird smell that was half of dirt and half of chemicals. It was Cooper who was looking at Kurt in probably the same way that Kurt was looking at him. Kurt felt his throat dry as he walked towards his brother in law, "Coop?" he asked, tilting his head to the side, "You're alive? Blaine's been….he thought…he told me you were dead, he blames himself and…how?"
"I can tell you soon," Cooper replied in a dry voice, "I'm glad that he managed to cure you, but where is he? I want to see him, I know he's probably been blaming himself and…where is he?" he looked around, the wide eyes showing the panic as well as the pain. Kurt wasn't sure how to answer, Cooper had undergone cryogenic treatment as some kind of torture procedure and Blaine was in it now for treatment, what kind of a reaction would that cause?
"He's…being treated, he'll be fine in a week, do you think that you could wait to see him then?"
Maybe Cooper could wait and they could be introduced slowly, Kurt dearly hoped that it wouldn't cause too great a feeling of stress for his husband. Kurt could only imagine how this would feel, how great the joy and yet shock would be if he were ever to see Finn pop up before him and tell him that he hadn't died, that they had buried a fake body, that Kurt didn't need to worry anymore.
This was definitely a delicate matter.
This was definitely a matter that required planning and a slow pace.
"Let's take a taxi and get you back to mine and Blaine's house, you can wash up there and then I can try and help you with whatever you need. This time point is still new to me, I'm still getting comfortable with it, but we should be fine getting you the necessities. I think maybe you can see pictures of Blaine before you two meet when he feels better. That would prepare you to see him."
"So…" Cooper asked breathlessly as Kurt managed to focus himself once again, "Blaine's still a doctor, does he act anymore? Last time I talked to him he was thinking about doing community acting, is that happening? Is he okay?"
Kurt sighed as he put a hand to his forehead, "No, I think he punishes himself for a lot of things, he got attacked recently and so he's in a state where he can't see people. Listen, I'll take you to our home and try and explain everything. I don't know that much about what is going on, but I can try to explain everything, besides I'm sure Blaine's cats are lonely without me."
Cooper nodded slowly, "Just promise me that next week I'll get to see my little brother."
Kurt nodded in response, "I promise."
