A/N Thanks to Harry and Ginny over at HPFF for sparking inspiration for the scene in The Three Broomsticks.
I've been back at Hogwarts nearly a month since our stupid muggle studies trip. I haven't seen my babies in what feels like forever and it's driving me mad. I haven't been able to see them lately because of revising for my NEWT's which have already started. Since each of my subjects have both a written and practical exam it means I have twelve in total, so far I've done both parts for Herbology and Charms.
And now I'm sat in the library with the girls trying to revise for Transfiguration and I am bored out of my mind, the only thing keeping me sane is that at eleven we're going down to Hogsmeade and Ria is bringing Bentley and Aubri for me to see.
"Urgh," I complained as I shut my text book and gathered my notes up. "Can we just go already I'm fed up of being inside and at least the weather's good."
Dom nodded in agreement. "Yeah can we go already please?" she asked looking at Rose who was technically the reason we were studying in the first place, since she had suggested we do a study group. Rose nodded and myself, Dom and Rory gave small hushed cheers so that Madame Pince wouldn't moan at us to be quiet.
"Let's go then," Rose said and we all packed up quickly before leaving the library. "Can I drop these of in your dorm rather than going up to Gryffie tower?"
"Course you can," Rory said to her as we passed some first years who were loitering in the corridor.
"Isn't that the one whose dating Albus Potter, as in the Albus Potter," the shortest one whispered to their friend.
I seized the moment and walked right up to them. "Yes I am thee, how can I help you?"
This reduced them into fits of giggles until the dark haired one managed to speak and said, "Is-is it true that he has a tattoo on his-" she stopped once more to exchange looks with her friends and giggled some more. "On his bum," she finished in a whispered.
I snorted before laughing. "Oh yeah," I told them. "It's the golden snitch. It's massive, takes up most of his bum." This caused even more giggles from the blushing dark haired girl.
"Thanks," said another one of them before they scuttled off leaving us lot roaring with laughter.
"Al, is so never going to live this down," Dom said between laughing and I was glad to see her happy, I admit the past few weeks haven't been easy since she told me what had happened, and what with her and that secret hip flask of hers which contains something that certainly isn't water that she keeps in her pocket.
The rest of our journey to the common room wasn't as eventful although when we got in the dorm we found Didge sat on her bed writing away on some parchment. She didn't speak as we put our books back in our school bags whilst Rose just dumped hers on Dom's bed, none of us made an attempt to speak to her and haven't done so since her and Rory's big fight. If she wants to be all buddy buddy with Hattie then so be it but Rory certainly isn't having any of it.
After picking up my bag along with some money and my cardigan we left the dorm still laughing about the first year incident.
"Why are you laughing?" Al asked as he popped up behind us scaring us half to death.
"You," I managed to say. "Some first years asked if you had a tattoo on your bum so I said yeah a huge one."
Al laughed but with a straight face he then said, "Yeah I do although it's certainly not on my backside."
I looked at him and I swear the others did as well. "Are you joking?" I asked once we were in the common room.
He shook his head and then to prove it, he gripped the hem of his t-shirt and pulled it over his head revealing his very nice body. There were a few wolf whistles from the girl who were here including one from Rory as Al turned so I could see his left shoulder, there in black and gold ink was a perfect golden snitch with the words 'I open at the close' on it.
"It's beautiful," I commented. "But when did you-"
"Get it?" Al finished my sentence as he pulled his top back on and we followed the others who had gone ahead. "Start of the Easter holidays," he answered taking my hand as we went through the entrance and came through the wall into the corridor.
How it I not notice that on the trip? I thought. As we walked through the entrance hall I couldn't help wonder why a golden snitch, because it's normally associated with seekers which is what I play on our team, but then again his dad was a seeker. I think I'd get Bentley and Aubri's names on my left side near my heart if I was to get a tattoo because they're a part of me and will always be in my heart but apart from the thought of getting one I don't think I'd have actually have the guts to get one.
Curiosity got the better of me so I asked, "Why a snitch?"
Al shrugged as he pulled his grey hoodie from around his waist and pulled it on just as we got outside. "Well dad was a seeker but also it's where the resurrection stone was hidden and engraved on the snitch was the quote 'I open at the close'," Al explained as we got into the carriage with the girls and Scorp who has come from somewhere."Basically the seeker, that's you stole my heart, in other words you caught the snitch."
Dom and Rory both awed at this whilst Scorp just shook his head as he put his arm around Rose who was reading Hogwarts A History, where ever the hell she got that from, I haven't a clue.
Ignoring them Al carried on, "And it's our last year at Hogwarts so I decided to do something reckless, so the getting it part was my close because of graduating and the open part is you because you play seeker and you stole my heart and I hope we spend many happy years together."
I smiled as I watched Al's little smile turn into a big sappy one. "You're so adorable you know that right," I murmured before kissing his cheek, which he then turned his head so I got his lips rather than his cheek.
I could hear someone (probably Dom) pretending to be sick but ignored it because Al was my life, he was past, he's my present and now he's my future. Well hopefully he'll be my future so long as he doesn't hate me for keeping Bentley and Aubri from him and disown me.
Once we broke apart I snuggled close to him, Al's arm went around me resting on my hip. The stress of NEWT's was blown away replaced by the thought of me and Al forever and the thought of getting to see my babies.
(*)
Once in Hogsmeade we headed to the shops as I wasn't meeting Ria and the rest of my family until twelve so I had time to spend with Al and the girls plus Scorp. The reason my family was coming was because on Tuesday it was Tessa's twelfth birthday so we're having a family lunch to celebrate, another plus of this means I get to see my babies.
In Honeydukes surrounded by shelves filled sky high with every type of sweet or toffee imaginable and the sweet sugary smell, I bought some white mice for the twins, a box of Bertie Botts every flavour beans for Oscar and some fudge for dad and Ria.
Once we were done we headed straight to the newest shop; Weasley's Wizard Wheezes which had opened over in the holidays. The door made a funny squeaking sound as we entered, the shop itself was a bright bundle of colours as well as noises, I was so amazed by everything that I didn't notice Al stop until I had bumped into him.
"Hey. Flick?" asked a male voice.
I looked up to see James looking at me, along with his cousin Fred.
"Hi," I managed to say once I had realised who it was, none other than my sister's 'boyfriend' and I use the term loosely at the moment because I'm pretty sure Ri is still stating they're 'just friends', some how I don't think so from the way she keeps acting around him.
"You okay?"
I nodded. "Bit stressed about NEWT's, I just can't wait until their over."
Al nodded in agreement. "Same, I wish we could just graduate already exams are killing me."
James laughed, "Suck it up brother, you've got what, another month left in school?"
"Yeah," Al replied.
"So make it memorable," Fred added as he jumped into the conversation as a red haired girl in her mid twenties took a hold of the till and serving the customers as James and Fred came from behind the counter to give us a tour of the shop. "Y'know we have everything here, from Weasley's Wildfire Whizz-bangs to Puking Pastilles, as well as a portable swamp."
"Something is bound to take your fancy," James told us as he went over to a cage full of pink and purple squeaking balls of fluff. "Pygmy puffs, they sell like hot cakes. Care to buy one?"
I looked at them, yes they were fairly cute and cuddly and I wondered if Tess would like one. Sure I already gave her, her birthday present but hey I can spoil my little sister.
"I'll take one," I announced as Dom came over at awed at them. "We have cats though, will they eat them?"
Fred shook his head. "They shouldn't so long as you don't leave them to wander. Which colour?"
"Purple," I replied since it'll match the colour of Tessa's bedroom.
"That'll be two galleons and two sickles please."
I dug around in my bag for my purse and pulled it out, handing the money over to James who put in it a money bag which was around his waist as Fred opened the giant cage.
"Which one?"
Dom had been stroking a purple one through the bars and it was happily bouncing and squeaking. Deciding that was the best one I chose it. "That one, the Dom's stroking."
Fred then reached in and picked it up and put it in a mini cage which he had gotten and then handed it to me. I looked at the little ball of fluff which squeaked happily as I stroked it with my finger. Tessa is going to love it, I thought.
I checked my phone to make sure I still had time and saw I had ten minutes, I sighed to myself as I turned to Al. "I need to get going."
Al nodded in response and bent down and kissed me. "See you later, Fliss."
"Bye," I called to the others as I headed through the crowd of girls who were surrounding the love potion stand. Once outside I headed straight to The Three Broomsticks, it was surprisingly full and I couldn't see anyone so I asked the man at the bar. "Private parlour for Saunders."
He consulted his list and nodded. "Yes, this way please madame."
I followed him to the back of the pub and he showed me to one of the larger parlour's. I smiled at him, "Thanks."
He smiled back and left as I knocked on the door, Ria answered it with Aubri in her arms.
The second she saw me her face lit up, "Mama!"
"Aubri!" I nearly squealed as she held her arms out to me and I took her from Ria and span her around in my arms. "Whee! Mummy's missed you so much," I told her as I kissed her. Out of the corner of my eye I could see my little dark haired boy. "Bentley!" I exclaimed as he smiled at me showing off his teeth.
Before I could say anything he started walking over to me all on his own. I could practically feel my heart melting, my baby boy was walking all by himself. I bent down and Aubri stood in front of me as I opened my arms wide and Bentley fell into them and I hugged him and Aubri close.
"My clever boy." I hugged them close as though I would never let them go again, it felt so good to see them. I picked them both up and went and sat down with them on my lap.
"How's school, Fliss?" Dad asked me and I looked up, having not realised he was here since I was so focused on my babies.
I shrugged. "Fine, I just want to be finished so I can spend all summer with my two favourite people." I told him as I kissed the top of Bentley's head and then Aubri's, both of which smelt like their baby shampoo. As we were waiting for the others to arrive I sat on the floor with Bentley and Aubri and played with them and the toys dad had passed from the bag on the double buggy.
Not everyone was here due to having work but there was myself, Tessa, dad, Ria and James (surprise surprise, she's got him at family gatherings now considering they're 'not' a couple) dad, Oscar and of course Bentley and Aubri. As well as nana, auntie Holly minus uncle Liam since he was training for his up coming Quidditch match against the Chudley Cannons, auntie Sarah and her boyfriend Jack as well as my three cousins: Lily-Ann, Ivie-May and LJ.
"Happy Birthday, Tessa," we all chimed as the waiter brought in her chocolate cake complete with twelve candles, after we had all finished eating.
I was happy once again and I knew that saying goodbye would be hard, but as long as I could see them pretty soon I would be even happier. After waving to my relatives who were all heading back home spent my remaining time playing with my babies, still in awe that they were both walking by themselves now. It's mad how the time is going and how fast they're growing up, before I know it they'll be coming to Hogwarts.
James was sat on the floor with myself, the twins and Oscar as Tessa was too busy playing with pygmy puff who she had decided to call Squiggles.
"When are you y'know?" he asked as he looked at me. "Going to tell Al because I'm pretty sure he needs to know."
I really wanted to groan because if I had a galleon for every time someone has asked me that I'd be rich. I didn't and instead I said, "At graduation and I know he needs to know, it's always on my mind, James. Has Ria put you up to this?"
James shook his messy mop of black hair which was so much like Al's. "Flick. he's my brother he deserves to know he's a dad."
At that point Bentley looked up at me with his big blue eyes and handed me his car "Dada?" he asked.
I couldn't lie to Bentley so I simply said, "You'll meet daddy soon, baby. Can you watch them for a minute please?"
James nodded as I stood up and made to leave, I stood in the doorway watching him with Oscar who was laughing at whatever James was showing him whilst Aubri crawled over and sat on his lap. I smiled as Ria came over.
"Oh yeah we're just friends," I muttered to her as we went made our way through the pub to the toilets. "I take it he is your boyfriend then, considering he's at a family event?" I asked.
I saw from the look on her face she was debating lying but then she sighed, "Fine, yeah he is."
I grinned at her "See now that wasn't so hard to admit was it?"
Ria nudged me and laughed. "Yeah well someone else needs to be told."
I swear the smile on my face dropped as I pushed the ladies toilet door open. "Graduation," I told her. "I'm doing it the second we've graduated," I stated firmly before going into a cubicle to escape what Ria was going to say next.
"You could have brought Al with you," Ri suggested as she washed her hands.
"Really? I told you. Ri, at graduation," I said as I washed my own hands.
I swear she rolled her eyes at me as we left the toilets and headed back to our family. Saying goodbye was hard and I ended up crying, I left before them along with Tess and we headed back up to the castle. After checking my phone I saw it was just coming four o'clock, at least I'd have time to revise a bit more and go down to dinner before Quidditch practice at six.
"Not long now, Flick, and you'll be free of exams and Al will know. Everything will be okay," Tessa reassured me.
I smiled and gave her a hug before heading down to the Slytherin common room whilst she headed up the grand staircase to the Ravenclaw tower.
I woke early due to nerves as today is the last Quidditch match of the season between us and Hufflepuff. Not only that today is a big day for us, at the last couple of matches there have been Quidditch team managers looking for new talent and I'm pretty sure they're going to be here today as well.
I went down to breakfast with Dom and Rory, Rose was already sat at the table with Scorpius and Albus who were both stuffing their faces. I looked at them in disbelief. "How an earth can you eat so much?" Both of them shrugged since their mouths were full.
"You need to eat," Rose told me as she pushed a plate of toast in front of me.
Reluctantly I ate the toast since I was hungry but my stomach was in knots from nerves. "I'm going down to the pitch," I announced suddenly as I stood up and headed out the hall without a backwards glance, even when Dom called after me.
The warmth hit me as I stepped outside the castle and I had to hold my hand up to shield my eyes from the sun. Well at least the weather's good I thought as I looked up at the blue sky which had a few fluffy clouds floating along.
I was in two minds about going to the match, yes it could get me a place on an international Quidditch team or it could just be another match where we win or lose. I just want to be back home with Bentley and Aubri enjoying all this sunshine whilst it lasts. I can't believe that tomorrow is June first meaning we only have twenty-seven days left at Hogwarts, the twenty-seventh also happens to be graduation which to me, can't come quick enough.
After wandering around the grounds for a bit I made my way to the Qudditch pitch which was already filling up with spectators. The second I pushed open the girls changing room door I found Al stood right in front of me.
"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?" he yelled as I went straight to my locker and got out my uniform.
I whipped around to look directly at him. "In the grounds, problem?" I snapped.
"Yeah, you were supposed to be here on time, it's our biggest match, Flick, the one that counts," Al told me as I headed to the toilet and shut the door locking it behind me so I could get changed.
I stripped off and put my Quidditch uniform on, I had just finishing putting my hair up into a pony tail as I walked out the toilet with my clothes slung over my shoulder. Al was sat on the side and he looked up as I crossed the room and put my clothes in my locker.
"I'm sorry, Fliss."
I looked over at him and I sighed. "No I'm sorry. I shouldn't of snapped," Al came over and wrapped his arms around me, embracing me in a hug. I felt safe in his arms and I didn't want to leave them but I knew we had to. "Come on haven't you got to give us a pep talk or something," I teased as I pulled away from him and he kissed me.
"Lets go then if you're ready," Al suggested as he held out his hand to me and I smiled as I took it.
He unlocked the door to the captain's office and we walked straight through it, he knocked on the door to the boys and then walked in. Everyone was waiting for us by the seems of things as they were all sat ready and waiting. All their eyes appeared to be on mine and Al's entwined hands and Anthony smirked.
I dropped Al's hand and went and sat next to Scorpius who was on the end as Al stood in front of us ready to talk.
"Right, as you all know this is the match, the one we need to win if we want our name on the Quidditch cup. Good luck everyone and do your best!" With that we got into order and got ready to go out on the pitch.
As we walked out I was greeted by the sunshine and the roar of the students and staff from the crowd.
"And here come the Slytherin team; Captain and chaser Albus Potter. He sure has whipped his team into shape this year. Here he comes followed by Keeper Charlie Mclaggen who follows in the footsteps of his father, who was actually a Gryffindor and is a renowned for being the wizard most likely to be found on the cover of the latest play wizard issue. Funny really."
I resisted the urge to laugh because I had heard rumours about Charlie secretly hoping to follow in his dad's footstep even though if you mention his father's chosen carer to him he groans and says it's so embarrassing. Pfft I swear he secretly loves the attention.
"The other chaser include Anthony Flint and Nathan Dose, beaters Scorpius Malfoy and Leo Cozens and lastly the one and only lovely lady on the team: Felicity Saunders."
I so wanted to shout at whoever was commentating that I prefer Flick not Felicity. I hate my name, yes it's pretty but it reminds me of my so called mother as she always called me Felicity not Fliss or Flick and it annoys me. Al stopped in the middle of the pitch just in front of Madame Spinnet and we waited for the Hufflepuff team.
"And here's the Hufflepuff, my own house actually. Home of the badgers, we're one tough animal if you think of a honey badger. We're also particularly good finders, for instance I found this wonderful nargle nest just last week."
A burst of laughter erupted from the crowd as well as myself and the others, there's certainly no guessing as to who the commenter is. Tessa has already informed me than Lorcan Scamander's twin brother: Lysander would be commentating every match and lets just say they've been highly interesting even if he is a bit less dreamy than his mother was.
I tired not to look where the teachers were along with the talent scouts because I knew I would become even more nervous.
"Samantha Boot is the Hufflepuff captain and one of the beaters, oh hang on I meant Sam. He's a boy not a girl. And then we have a brand new addition to the team: Aaron Nott who is apparently their secret weapon as a beater, as the last one had to retire due to injuries along with Nancy Jacobs. Elizabeth Cole, Anthony Smith and Terry Webster are the chasers and lastly Joey Bing is the seeker. I think the Slytherin's will have a tough time beating us Puff's today."
I swear I saw Madame Spinnet roll her eyes before asking the captains to shake hands before before we mounted and kicked off into the air.
"On my whistle I'll throw the Quaffle in the air, three two..." The sound of the whistle echoed in my ears as I flew upwards leaving the others to get a hold of the Quaffle.
I knew what I had to do, Al had come up with the tactic that if I stayed out of the game as much as possible and high up we'd have a better chance of me seeing the snitch. As I watched the game unfold, Al scored us a goal which got us ten points. I was totally and utterly surprised at Aaron and his skill. Sure I knew he liked Quidditch but I had no idea how good he was, especially as those bludgers are so quick and deadly.
I spotted a hint of gold towards the floor near the bottom of the Hufflepuff goal posts and I started to head that way, their seeker Joey didn't seem to be paying attention which was lucky for me so I sped up and went to dive only to see it glint again and I noticed it looked a broken shard of glass that was reflecting the sun.
I groaned in frustration, great what idea dropped that, I thought as I started to fly back up. Dodging Scorpius and Aaron on the way as well as the Bludger that they were hitting between them as well as at Nancy.
(*)
"And it's Potter with the Quaffle, he throws it to Dose who catches and narrowly misses that Bludger from Boot. Back to Potter goes the Quaffle, which gets shot to Flint who scores! Another ten points to Slytherin," Lysander's voiced echoed around the stadium as I swooped out the way of both of the Bludgers which happened to come my way thanks to none other than Aaron (which surprised me) and Sam.
"So that's still Hufflepuff in the lead with two-hundred and fifty points whilst Slytherin now have two-hundred and forty points. The snitch has still not been seen by either Saunders or Bing, maybe the nargles have something to do with it."
I muttered under my breath, knowing that if Al, Anthony and Nathan didn't get the Quaffle back off Hufflepuff we would lose no matter whether I caught the snitch or not. I was keeping my eye on Bing because he was acting suspicious and I couldn't tell whether he had seen the Snitch or not.
I was starting to doubt my ability as a seeker when I spotted it fluttering just below Charlie's left foot. "Drat," I muttered as I looked around. Bing was watching me closely and I knew he hadn't spotted the Snitch so I smiled to myself since I had a plan forming.
Hufflepuff scored again as I sped right up towards our end of the pitch, weaving in and out of the Puff's chasers in hope I would put them off. Looking back Bing was on my heels, when I was almost halfway across the pitch I pulled upwards very quick and very fast. He followed and at the last minute I dove down towards the bottom of the goalposts where the Snitch was still fluttering.
I reached out just as I heard Lysander say, "Another goal for Slytherin by Dose."
I smiled as I grabbed at the golden ball, it stopped fluttering the second I closed my hand around it. "Saunders has caught the Snitch! SLYTHERIN WIN!"
Parts of the crowd erupted into cheers as I sped off to my team mates who had all flown together to create a circle.
"That's two-hundred and sixty points to Hufflepuff, Slytherin have won the match with four hundred points."
I grinned at the others as Al engulfed me into a hug which was hard to do since we were still on our brooms. "You're absolutely brilliant, Fliss," he murmured in my ear before kissing my cheek.
I felt myself blush just as the rest of the team pulled me in for an in air hug which was really hard to do. As we broke apart to head to the floor Lysander started commentating again.
"Good game Slytherin! I must say us Hufflepuff's played rather well don't you think? Professor McGonagall wants to announce the Quidditch Cup results."
I touched down on the pitch and hopped off my broom, the others followed suit as Minnie called the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor teams to the pitch as well. The four teams stood together in the middle of the pitch waiting for the results.
"In fourth place: Ravenclaw," There were groans from the all their supporters in the crowd as well as cheers from the other houses. "Third place: Gryffindor."
It came as such a surprise that Gryffindor wouldn't win that I looked at Al who was stood opened mouthed staring at Minnie. Hushed whispers were going through the teams, after getting over the shock Al looked at me and smiled, mouthing, "We can do this!"
I nodded in response as Minnie quietened everyone before speaking again, "In second place a well deserved Hufflepuff and the winner of this years Quidditch cup is Slytherin!"
Al looked at me from across our group and then came over and hugged me with such enthusiasm that I was lifted off my feet.
"We won!" he yelled in my ear over the noise that was coming from the Slytherin supporters in the crowd.
The whole team was practically bouncing around on the pitch as Minnie came down from the stands to present us with the silver cup with the four handles, each of which represents each houses.
Our head of Slytherin and potions teacher, Professor Blackthorn joined us just as myself and Al broke apart after he had kissed me. "Well done Slytherin, I can imagine that this game will be one to remember especially to you Mr Potter, Mr Malfoy and Miss Saunders as this is your last year with us at Hogwarts."
"Thank you, Professor," Al said in response as she held the big silver cup out to him.
"The winners of this years cup are the Slytherin team!" Minnie announced again as she handed Albus the cup.
Al kissed it before handing it to me, I was surprised when he said, "You won us the match, Flick, do the honers."
I smiled and lifted the cup up for everyone to see just as Al and Scorpius lifted me onto their shoulders before parading down the pitch followed by the rest of the team. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Minnie and Professor Blackthorn shake hands as they exchanged words.
The boys put me down after a lap of the pitch and Al hugged me once again. "We couldn't have done it without you, Flick," he told me as I handed him the cup just as a blur of blonde came whizzing this way nearly knocking me over and they hugged me.
"Flickkkk!" Dom squealed. "We won!"
I was too distracted by Dom hugging me that I didn't notice when someone spoke.
"That was some excellent flying, Miss Saunders," a male voice said, I broke apart from Dom and looked at the tall man who had spoke, he looked familiar but I had no idea where from. He had short brown hair and was certainly built like a Quidditch player. "Oliver Wood," he informed me as he held out a hand which I shook. "Manager and Captain of Puddlemere United."
Next to me Dom was doing a very good impression of a fish since her mouth kept opening and closing as she stood there staring at us, at one point I swear I heard her mutter, "Damn he's good looking." under her breath.
"H-hi," I managed to stutter after getting over the shock of who it was, now I realised why he looked familiar, because his youngest son Liam who's friends with Tessa looks so much like him.
"You're an excellent seeker, Miss Saunders, you've certainly got talent. Which is why I'd like to offer you a place at on our team. From what I've seen you're the best seeker there is since Harry Potter himself," Mr Wood told me.
I felt myself blushing again because not only was he comparing me to the great Harry Potter but he was offering me a place on his Quidditch Team. It felt like utter madness to me.
"There would be a fair bit of training involved as well as touring," he explained. "We don't need an answer right away but within the next two weeks is ideal. I have to go and speak with Mr Potter, do excuse me," Mr Wood handed me a small business card with his name, a number and an address on it.
I stared at it in awe as I twirled it between my fingers. "Holy crap," I breathed.
"Shit," Dom muttered. "That actually happened didn't it? I mean the Oliver Wood just asked you to join his Quidditch team. That's mad, Flick."
Scorpius and Rose came over to join us. "Guess what?" Rose said excitedly, before we could answer she told us. "Scorp just got offered to play for the Appleby Arrows! And he said yes!"
"Wow, congrats, Scorp," I told him as I hugged him.
"Yeah well Flick just got asked by Oliver Wood to play for Puddlemere," Dom said quickly as two women came walking this way.
"Miss Saunders?" The younger one asked me and I nodded. "Could we have a word please, I'm Grace Jones current seeker and captain of the Harpies. This is my mother Gwenog Jones whose our manager."
"O-of course," I stuttered as I walked to the side with them to speak.
When I rejoined our little group nearly ten minutes later I was still in awe. Today was starting to feel like a dream. Al was beaming with happiness when he joined us as well.
"Today is a great day! Not only did we beat Hufflepuff and win the Quidditch cup but you're now looking at a future chaser for the Tutshill Tornadoes."
There was lots of squealing from Dom, Rose, Rory and myself as we hugged him in turn and then Scorpius who told Al about his place with the Arrows.
"PARTY IN THE COMMON ROOM!" Somebody yelled as they were crossing the pitch.
I was still in complete and utter shock than not one but two British and Irish league Quidditch teams wanted little old me to play for them. "I'll meet you all back at the castle," I informed them. "I need to go send a letter."
I called my goodbyes as I left the pitch and made my way up to the owlry. It was fairly quiet when I got there except for the occasional hoot from the owls. After getting some parchment, a quill and ink from the hidden spot I sat down on the straw covered floor that most probably had owl poo and dead things scattered through it but I didn't care as I set about writing.
Dear Dad and Ria,
You have no idea what has just happened. We won the Quidditch cup but not only that, Gwenog and her daughter Grace Jones from the Holyhead Harpies and Oliver Wood from Puddlemere United have both asked me whether I would like to go and play for them once I leave school.
I haven't given an answer yet but I have two weeks to think about it. I honestly don't know what to do. I mean I still want to be a healer but with Quidditch I'd most probably have to be away from my babies for long periods of time again.
Any advice?
I hope Bentley and Aubri are okay, I can't wait to see them again. Missing them like crazy. Love you all.
Love Flick xx
I sighed as I rolled up my letter, addressed it and then called on a big brown owl to deliver it. I watched him fly out of the owlry and across the grounds until he was a meer dot in the sky.
I took my time walking back to the castle, thinking of my future and what it would bring.
It was nearly seven when I left the dorms and went down, the party in the common room was already in full swing. It was no surprise really since a bunch of sixth years had already started the party soon after coming up from the match.
The common room was bursting with people from all the houses as well as more that kept popping up out of no where. I hadn't bothered dressing up because I hadn't felt like it and not only that I didn't see the point, where as some of the girls from the other houses had on short skirts and dresses and a face plastered in make-up. I was glad to see that Hattie wasn't here, these days she was rarely in the common room.
Rose was dancing away to Rory as one of the latest songs from the band 'One Snitch' blared from the wiz-radio, I had no idea where Al, Scorp or Dom where and it wasn't until I bumped into Aaron did I find anyone I knew.
"Hey," he greeted me with a smile. "Want a drink?"
"Thanks," I told him as he passed me a bottle of butterbeer from off the table. "Good game. I didn't know you were playing."
Aaron shrugged. "I was told to keep it secret. How's Hattie?"
I frowned at him. "I don't have a clue why?"
"She hasn't been around the past few days. Mel said she hasn't seen her either."
I put my hand on his arm. "It'll be okay, she's probably sulking somewhere. I can look in the dorm for any clues if you like?" I offered.
He smiled which made him look so much younger than he is. "Thanks, Flick, you're the best. I'm glad we're still friends."
"Me too," I told him as we walked to the dorm and I headed up the girls staircase. As Hattie's bed is closest to the door I didn't have to go far, as much as I don't like her I like Aaron and I could see he was worried which is why I offered to help.
I looked in her bed which didn't appear to have been slept in and now that I thought about it she wasn't here last night when we were getting ready for bed either. There didn't seem to be any clues in it and I checked her bedside table as well.
There didn't seem to be anything to indicate where she was or could be and nothing seemed out of place or missing. Aaron was sat at the bottom of the stairs along with Dom who was sniffling, his hand was on hers and I frowned to myself at the sight of them. When he looked at me with his brown eyes I shook my head.
"Sorry, although I don't think she slept in her bed last night."
"Thanks anyway, Flick."
He nodded in response before giving Dom's hand a squeeze, she muttered a "Thanks." and with that Aaron got up and left through the open door.
"How weird," I muttered under my breath. "You okay, Dommie?" I asked but then regretting it having seen the bottle of firewhisky in her hand.
She muttered something I couldn't make out and pointed across the room with the bottle before taking a swig. I followed her line of view and spotted why she was drowning her sorrows. Scorpius was sat on one of the leather chair's in front of the fire, with Rose sat on his lap, the pair of them must have been in their own little world due to the fact that they were kissing like crazy and even from here it seemed heated.
I put my arm around her shoulders once I had brushed her blonde hair to the side. "Oh, Dommie, it'll be okay I promise."
I honestly didn't know how long we sat there just watching everyone having a good time. As they went by people handed us drinks and I gave in eventually and drank some of the firewhisky. I wasn't that fond of the taste and I knew why we only ever did shots of it, it burned my mouth and throat when it went down. I drank some of my butterbeer to soothe my throat when Al appeared.
"Where've you been all night?" he asked as he sat on the step below us. "You're missing the party."
"Just here," I replied with a shrug.
"You do realise Dom's asleep on your shoulder," he pointed out as he nodded his head towards his cousin.
I looked down at Dom and sure enough, he was right. "Let me get her to bed and I'm all yours." I nudged Dom in the side. "Come on, Dommie, wake up."
She mumbled and batted her hand aimlessly whilst Al rolled his eyes.
"I'll carry her," he offered as he lifted her up in his arms and led the way up.
I picked up the empties which had increased in number and put them in the bin which was by the doorway. I followed him up and then just as I was about to push the door open I heard cursing.
Dom was sat bolt upright, dripping with water on her bed, making her way through most of the curse words which were all directed at Al who was smirking slightly.
"Twat," Dom hissed as she got up and wobbled across the room to the bathroom, carrying her pyjamas.
I looked at Al and out my hands on my hips. "Did you really have to do that?"
He smirked and I felt the butterflies in my stomach come alive as he got closer to me. "Yeah, she sort of deserved it."
"No I sodding didn't," Dom's voice called from the bathroom and I laughed.
"She didn't," I said defending her since Al had no idea what was going on with her. Al was so close to me that when he kissed me I was so surprised I fell back onto my bed which made me giggle some more.
Al brushed his lips over mine and he tasted like butterbeer, before kissing me. It was deep and although I knew it may have something to do with the alcohol, but I felt like I was on fire, all I wanted was Al. He had me pinned on my bed and I had one hand on his waist and the the other was on his chest.
"Ew gross. Please stop scarring me," Dom commented as I heard her walk by.
I smiled as we broke the kiss and Al rolled off me not bothering to re-do the buttons on his shirt that I had undone.
"Oh please, Dom, it's not like we've had to put up with you and Frankie snogging in the common room or in the great hall, is it?"
She sneered at him as she got into bed after using a heating charm on it. "Piss off."
"Happily, we're off to my dorm and Flick probably won't be back until breakfast tomorrow," Al said sounding rather cockily.
I giggled as he offered me his hand to help me up which I accepted. "You go on I'll be there now." Al furrowed his brows at me to which I just looked at him until he left. "Are you okay, Dommie?"
She shrugged. "Apart from a killer headache in the morning yeah I'm okay."
I sat on the end of her bed and put my hand on hers. "You're not, Dom, and I know it. It's killing you seeing him with Rose. You've got to try and get over him sweetie, I know it's going to be hard what with having to see him pretty much everyday but you have to promise me that you'll stop with the drinking. It's just not you, where's my fun loving Dom? My crazy best friend Dom?"
I could see the tears which were glistening in the light coming from the one on her bedside table, running down her cheek. "It's okay for you, Flick, you have your two at home. I'll never forget ever and it will probably haunt me for the rest of my life."
"Dom, please just promise me you'll quit drinking and see Madame Pomfrey, please," I begged her.
After a few minutes she nodded. "Go, go have fun, Flick."
I wiped her tears away before giving her a hug. "Sleep tight."
Dom smiled weakly as I got up and made to leave, I hovered in the doorway to see her roll onto her side before I left. Al was waiting at the bottom of the stairs and before I reached the last one he has scooped me into his arms. I buried my face into him as he carried me up to his dorm, where he then chucked me on his bed. I laughed like crazy as he tickled me.
"S-stop." I managed to say between laughs.
Al stopped but not before kissing my hand, I watched him go off into the bathroom before I sat up. I snooped around in his trunk and found the two things I were looking for: the Marauders Map and one of his Quidditch tops.
I put them both on his bed before I stripped off and pulled his Quidditch shirt on, it was the perfect length on me and just covered my bum. After getting my wand out of my jean pocket I chucked my clothes on top of his trunk. I crossed my legs and tapped the map.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." As if I had dropped a pot of ink the map came to life and the whole thing started to appear before my eyes.
I found my own name and then checked that Dom's was still in our dorm; it was thankfully and I was glad. Al came back out in nothing but pyjama bottoms, on closer inspection I could see that they had little brooms printed on them. I smiled at that before looking back at the map.
"Mischief managed," I murmured as I tapped the map once more. "Is it okay if I borrow this for a bit?" I asked him as I put it and my wand in the drawer of his bedside table.
"Sure," Al replied with any questioning as he settled down.
I smiled as I snuggled close to him, he put his arms around me and I inhaled his scent. "Night, Al."
"Night, Fliss," Al replied, placing a kiss on my forehead.
It had been a long old day full of many surprises so it was no wonder I fell asleep soon after I shut my eyes.
A/N I believe the price of a pygmy puff in our world be around £10.44 which is two galleons and two sickles. The reference to Hufflepuff's being particularly good finders is from A Very Potter Musical by Starkid. Not a huge fan of this chapter because of the trouble it caused me, I just couldn't get motivated to write it and even when I did I still had problems with it. To me it just didn't have the 'zing' that all the other chapters have.
So I have good news! On 18th October I actually finished writing this and it's been marked complete on the site I normally post my stories on. With it being finished I now hope to update here, every three days but do forgive if it isn't too schedule as I may forget sometimes!
Up next - Exams, Getting Dom help and A scandal within a friendship group.
