A/N: So much has happened with me I've been so busy. Going to try and get this story back to where I want it... Poppy and Rachel... But things always get worse before they get better.

CHAPTER 38

(Poppy's POV)

Lara had taken me to Rachel's office and then left leaving me alone with Rachel. I sat down on the comfy chairs in the corner. Rachel was hovering by her desk, her arms folded.

"Whatever it is I didn't do it..." I sighed, slouching back against the chair

"You haven't done anything. I'm just waiting for your dad..." She replied

What? Dad never got involved unless it was something bad. Her eyes seemed sad and I got the feeling this wasn't something to do with school work. I didn't get chance to ask what was going on before Adam walked in. There was a certain cold atmosphere between them, not like they normally were... Something changed inside me and gobby, rebellious Poppy was gone.

"What's going on?" I asked as the pair sat down

Rachel took my hand and stroked the back of it with her thumb softly.

"Okay... Me and your dad are taking a break" Rachel started

"Taking a break?" I asked as I tried to fit the pieces together "You're breaking up?"

Rachel nodded softly.

A million questions were racing around my head but only one that I could say.

"What about me?" I asked

"You're going to live with your mum and I'm going to see you on weekends" Adam said

I was kind of annoyed that they'd decided for me but now wasn't the right time to kick off about it.

"Okay" I said, it was all I could manage

Adam hugged me softly before standing.

"I better get back before Candeece and Rose kill each other" He said, but it sounded more like an excuse to get away from the situation and the questions.

When he was gone I turned to Rachel.

"I'm sorry"

"What for?" She asked me

"This is my fault isn't it?" I kept my eyes on my hands that were fidgeting in my lap

Rachel put her hand under my chin and forced me to look her in the eye.

"No it's not." She said, there was certainty in her voice "Don't you ever think that..."

She pulled me into her side and I closed my eyes as her perfume overwhelmed me. Rachel's arms were like home to me, it was the place I felt safe and it seemed like I hadn't been here for ages. I wrapped my arms around her waist wishing she'd never let go. The moment was interrupted by a knock on the door followed by Mr Clarkson walking in.

"Rachel, you're needed" He said, exasperated

"I'm in the middle of something" Rachel replied

I pulled away slowly and looked at her.

"It's okay, you can go..." I smiled softly

"Are you sure?" She asked

I nodded.

"I'll pick you up from Lara's later... We'll carry on this chat" she said, as we walked from the office

"Okay..."

"I'll see you later!" She called as she headed down the stairs with Tom

I headed to Chemistry in a bit of a daze and took my usual seat at the back. Mr Mead started handing out worksheets and I looked at the list of questions after opening my exercise book.

"Take your time... It's not a race" Mr Mead told the class

I did the first few questions easily but then I came across one that was annoying me. I raised my hand.

"Yes Poppy what's up?" Mr Mead asked

"I don't understand this one" I said indicating to the paper

He stood up from his desk and walked over putting his arm subtly around me and holding onto the desk. His eyes met mine for a brief second and my heart jumped in my chest. He explained the question to me but I was too busy gazing into his eyes. Everyone fancied Mr Mead, he was young and gorgeous but never had I felt this before. I'd seen the way he looked at me when he thought no one was watching but I'd never really thought about it too much. But this was like an electric charge through my body and I suddenly found myself wanting to tear his clothes off.

"Do you understand it now?" Mr Mead asked

"Mmmhmm" I mumbled not really listening to him

"Could you wait behind at the end, I need to talk to you about your coursework"

I nodded, the stupid dazed look still on my face.

A/N: So is there something between Chris and Poppy? Some Chemistry perhaps? I was thinking about doing a Mature chapter between the pair in the next few chapters? So let me know if you want me to because if you don't I won't... Review please.
