Goldenrod city, one of Johto's finest places to live at. It was home to many different people with many stories. Those stories become their adventures that intertwine with one another.
One particular boy who lived in the city would be one destined for a great adventure and a great story in his near future.
In a small house, a boy who with brown hair and gray eyes was sitting in his room looking at his computer monitor. Judging by his appearance, one could guess that he was about thirteen years old. A small fire fox, Vulpix walked into the room. She walked over to her supposed trainer and jumped up onto his lap, gaining his attention.
"Oh, hey Natsumi." Greeted the boy as he stroked her fur. The Vulpix barked as if she was asking a question, which the boy somehow understood.
"Yeah, I was looking up the article on Dad's victory." He looked back at the monitor and continued to read it. "I guess you could say that I'm taking notes on how to defeat him."
The fire type sighed, which got her a sheepish smile from her friend. The brunette returned his gaze to the computer screen. After a few seconds of analyzing the article, an icon popped up. It read, 'May Birch requests a chat'.
With an elated face, he clicked on the icon. A window opened up with a brunette girl looking back with a gleeful smile. The area behind her looked just like a bedroom.
"Hi Brendan." She waved at him.
"Hey May." He waved back to her.
"I heard that you are coming here to the Hoenn region. Is it true?" Asked the girl quickly. Brendan smiled and gave a positive nod in return.
"Yep, my dad passed the exam and will become the gym leader of Petalburg city in Hoenn."
May couldn't help but clap in response. Brendan couldn't help but laugh in response to his friend's happiness. He had known May for years, but they had to spend most of their time meeting online because of the distance between regions that they lived in. With the few exceptions of the two of them meeting here and there.
"I can't wait till you get here. We haven't gotten to meet with each other since that junior tournament." Stated the girl.
"Neither can I." He leaned into the computer screen with a half serious face. "And just for the record, I won that tournament." Whispered the teenager.
"Yeah, sure you did." Said the girl with a sarcastic tone. Brendan couldn't help but feel a little upset at his friend disagreeing with him.
The feeling of being upset left the boy as he thought about going to the Hoenn region in less than a month. Even more than that, he would turn fourteen around the same time. The coincidence of events led him to feeling like he had Butterfrees in his stomach.
"Do plan on going on an adventure when you get here?" Asked May, breaking her friend out of his thoughts.
"Yeah, I think my dad would be more than willing to let me go on one." He reached down and picked up the Vulpix in his lap. "And I think that this little girl will be joining me on said journey."
The girl on the other side gushed at the sight of the tiny fire-type. Natsumi gave an open smile and waved her right paw at May. Brendan laughed a little at her gesture to May. A feeling of extreme excitement began to fill his soul for the upcoming journey. But he wouldn't be the only one who would be heading to Hoenn.
The Kalos region was one that shared a distance from Hoenn and Johto, but it still stood with its own style of beauty. Almost a year had passed since the plans of Team Flare were stopped and a new champion had been inducted. Said champion was Erica Tamashii, aka the Tenacious Fighter.
Despite her status and her reputation, she now faced a dilemma that not even a champion could be ready for.
"You have to be kidding me." Groaned Erica. She was having a nice conversation with her friend when he had to break some bad news to her.
"Sorry Erica, but I am kind of busy with an expedition that is soon to occur." Explained Keith through the holo-caster. Keith Chiyoku was one of Erica's friends and her teacher. As the intelligent champion of the Kanto region, he was usually busy with the works of intellectuals.
"It's not your fault. I completely understand." Reassured the blond with a wave of her hand.
"I'm sorry that I can't go with you to Hoenn. Have you asked Brett about it?" Suggested Keith. Brett Tairyoku was another one of Erica's friends who she met on her first journey, and he was also one who taught her a few things about battling. He was also the champion of the Johto region.
Even though she really liked the idea, the blond shook her head at her friend's suggestion.
"I already tried, but I couldn't reach him." Stated the blond with a disappointed tone.
"Once again, sorry." Suddenly the sound of other people started to come through the holo-castor, prompting Keith to turn to his right. He turned back to give Erica a little information. "I've got to go now Erica."
"Alright, bye." She waved to him as the device shut off.
The blond sighed a took a seat on a sea-withered rock. She was exploring the sea routes at the moment, because she did like the ocean a good bit. Erica was finally about to get some time to vacation to another region, and she was very much hoping to meet with her old friends once she got there.
Sadly however, that option flew right out the window like a Zubat. The champion didn't mind travelling alone anymore, but she really did want to meet up with her old friends.
"Oh well, at least Hoenn is a pretty nice place to visit anyway." The girl sighed and leaned over to take a look at the ocean. Despite her dilemma, the champion wasn't about to let this get in her way of having fun.
Reaching into her pocket, Erica pulled out her intriguing stone. It was a gem decorated with the colors of blue, yellow, and red. The light that it gave off in the sunlight was amazing to look at. Erica laughed at the sight of the gem that she held.
"I wonder what will happen this time around." Said the girl. Her vision was distracted by the sight of a pokemon high in the sky.
In surprise, Erica got up from her seat to see what the pokemon was. She couldn't get a clear vision of what it was because of its speed, but she could tell that it was a red and white pokemon. It turned around and flew in a south-eastern direction.
"What...was that?"
Back in Brendan's room he was talking to May about the different things that had happened since they had last chatted. Most of it consisted of May talking about the pokemon that she had met in the field research.
"...And then the Poochyena accidently ate the tomato berry and was running around like its mouth was practically on fire." Brendan laughed at the mental image of a tiny pooch running around with a Godzilla-like flare.
Natsumi looked at her owner with an intrigued expression. She couldn't understand just what was so funny about a pokemon breathing fire.
"You know, I found something that will be awesome for my adventure." Stated the protagonist. The face of his friend became interested, prompting him to reach to his left. He pulled out a white knit hat with a red and black forehead band.
Brendan got a smug look after putting on his hat. Instead of May being amazed, she was just a little nervous looking at it. And somehow, Natsumi was also able to give off the same look.
"Brendan, you are my friend, but people will think that your hair is white if you wear that." Said the brunette. When she said that, Brendan came to the realization that the hat concealed most of his bangs.
"Well, let them think that then." Despite the shame that he was now experiencing, the boy put himself in a confident mood.
The Vulpix in his lap shook her head at that return. May pinched her nose and shook her head. The sound of some pokemon was coming from behind May, which caused her to turn around. When she turned back to Brendan, she waved to him.
"So when should I expect to see you here?" Asked the brunette. He cupped his chin for a moment before putting his fist in front of the monitor.
"Brendan Kobushi will be coming to Hoenn in about a month." Answered the boy with a confident smile. His friend laughed a little in response before disconnecting.
After his friend had disconnected, Brendan turned off his computer and walked out his room. While he left, his Vulpix got out of his lap and walked away.
The house that they lived in was small, but it still had a nice roof top terrace to enjoy. Johto was entering a night time atmosphere with the dimming sky, making a beautiful sight as a result. Brendan walked up to the roof to see it.
The teenager looked up to the blue sky, thinking a lot about the future adventure in Hoenn. While looking up at the sunset sky, he noticed some quick pokemon in the sky.
It quickly sped around before turning in a south-western direction. Brendan could only make out that the pokemon was blue and gray as it left. Instead of just intrigue, the boy gave a confident smile.
"I hope to meet a pokemon like that when I get to Hoenn."
The region of Hoenn stood far away from other regions with no connection to any other. It is found unique for its environment that was decorated with great landscapes and a vast ocean. The sky above Hoenn harbored many pokemon.
Two dragon pokemon, Latias and Latios, flew down from the skies of the region to a small island. When they got close to the ground, they nodded to each other and touched each other's claws.
A bright light came forth from the interaction between the two. All the while they did this, two stones with swirled designs were laying on the ground and gave off a similar shine.
Thank you for reading this quick little story. It is only a quick prequel for my next fanfiction, The ORAS Journey. If you have anything that you want to say on the subject, feel free to leave a guest review.
