A/N: This takes place after the last chapter. Sorry I forgot to mention that this is during the Procyon wars during Amelia's Navy days. Hopefully that was obvious enough. I know my writing has gotten more poetic and choppy seeming. Thankfully this isn't for sale because I'd be making no money off of it. Anyway, thanks again for the reviews! I will try to develop more Silver and Jim story writing. :) I do in fact like the parental relationship that can be exploited there. Actually there is so much potential with all of these characters. Which is why I enjoy writing these so much :) Almost as much as I like reviews;)

058. Kick in the Head
Ensign Amelia Smollet never imagined dying from a kick in the head.
Maybe a bullet in the head. Maybe in the heart. Maybe even several bullet wounds.
A knife stab or gash might do. But it would have to be several. Unless it hit a major artery.
A beheading or hanging wouldn't be glamorous, but it wouldn't be too disappointing either.
Torture wasn't on her to do list, but it definitely qualified in the top notch toughness books. That's a heroic ending.
But a kick in the head?
Of all the ways to go.
She regained consciousness a fraction too late. She was drifting further and further away from the two ships. A dull ache throbs.
There was nothing she could do. Zero gravity. In a war zone that had been nearly annihilated by the past three battles. There's nothing out here. She's going to die alone.
All because of a stupid kick in the head.
She never saw the Procyon soldier behind her. She had been to focused on disarming the remaining soldiers with guns and hurtling the weapons towards her comrades. She didn't think the unarmed ones would present as much issue, but that doesn't mean she wasn't keeping an eye on just in case.
She just never saw him.
Blast it.
As if reading her thoughts, a blast of energy startles her.
That's a familiar sound.
Ship thrusters.
Turning her aching head to look behind her, she sees two Royal Navy ships approaching.
Reinforcements.
Shouts can be heard aboard. They've spotted her.
Good.
It'd be a shame to die this way.
A/N: Leave a note in the guest book on your way out ;)
