A/N: this one wasn't really inspired the lyrics but instead the image I got when listening to it. In the first movie we see that Vince plays guitar and in real life Johnny Strong (who plays Leon) sings so I got this image of Vince playing guitar with Leon singing and it was just such a feel-good thing that I had to smile and write it down. I hope you enjoy. :)

"My heart's a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every no-o-o-te
Make me your radio (yeah)
And turn me up when you feel low (turn it up a little bit)
This melody was meant for you (I like it)
Just sing along to my stereo."
- Gym Class Heroes feat. Adam Levine.

Jesse's POV

Dom had only gone to prison two weeks ago, and Mr T had only died three weeks ago. It was too soon to expect anyone to feel better, especially the girls, so it was no surprise to see them going straight to their rooms when they got the chance or hardly saying a word to us. Letty was better at pretending she was okay but Mia wasn't as good. In no way were Vince, Leon or I over it but we knew from the day of Mr T's funeral that we would have to be strong. Of course we expected to have Dom there too.

It was getting way too out of hand with the girls. Walking into the house one night after work and hearing Letty crying in the kitchen broke our hearts. We were at work more now to pick up the extra load, I guess it just slipped by how bad the girls were feeling. Mia cried all the time in front of us, tiring herself out and then Vince would take her up to bed. It was what we expected but seeing Letty crying made it really hit home for us. We knew we had to do something.

"When are we doing this?" Vince questioned as he tuned his guitar.

"When they get in from school," Leon reminded. "Jesse will take the girls upstairs."

"And what's your excuse?" Vine asked, looking right at me.

"That I need help with something."

"Help with what?"

"Your birthday," I answered.

"Good," he nodded, going back to his guitar.

It wouldn't seem too odd. Vince's birthday was in a couple of weeks so planning this early would just mean I had something big in mind or I was stuck for ideas.

"So after he takes them up?" Leon asked, fiddling with CDs.

"We'll set up, the CD will be in as back-up in case," Vince explained. "Until then you're vocals, I play my guitar."

The sound of Letty's car pulling up distracted us. I looked to the guys. Leon pulled a CD out and raced over to the player. I headed for the door to catch them before they came into the living room. I reached the door just as Letty and Mia came through it. They looked at me suspiciously. I held my finger up to my mouth to silence them before motioning for them to follow me. They looked at each other but followed me up the stairs nonetheless.

When we got to the top of the stairs I ushered them into Vince's room. I shut the door behind us and headed over to sit on the bed. They looked at each other quizzically. I patted the bed and they came to sit down beside me. I looked around at Vince's room, pretending to be thoughtful when really I was admittedly thinking of how grateful I was that he cleaned up a little for this.

"Jess?" Mia questioned.

"I know it's a tough time but..."

"But?" Letty prompted.

"It's Vince's birthday in a couple of weeks and I want to do something," I explained. "I know if I think of something myself I'll mess it up."

"Is that why we're in here?" Letty asked thoughtfully.

"I figured if we were stuck for ideas we would see something in here to prompt us."

"A strip club?" Letty joked, looking at the posters and magazines around the room.

I smiled. I knew this was probably Letty making out she was okay but it was nice to hear her joke nonetheless. I nodded my head. "That would be the best choice, but I thought it could be something that just we could do. Maybe a few people from the races. Like Hector for example."

From the looks on their faces they seemed to agree.

"Where should we start?" Mia asked.

I grabbed some things off of his shelf. Photo albums, empty notebooks to jot things down, junk he'd bought years ago but never seemed to get rid of. They were the stuff Vince said I could touch during this. I put them all on the bed. We sat there going through it. Leon, Dom and I always made fun of him for keeping such things but when I looked at them all I found a memory for each one. I laughed. Vince never seemed like the kind to care so much.

We stayed up there for a good hour looking. We actually came up with some decent ideas. A lot of the junk he had was from carnivals, the beach, theme parks and other places like that. One choice, the one that had the least amount of planning, was to go somewhere like that. The one thing Vince had a lot of was music so a general party or a bonfire on the beach seemed to randomly spring to mind.

"Why don't we go and get a drink?" I suggested.

"Where are the boys?" Mia asked as she smiled at a photo of her and Vince when they were young and both in single digits.

"Out I think, they were discussing it before I dragged you up here," I explained. "They should be gone now."

"Why do you think Vince kept all this?"

Letty and I shared a look, before Letty answered. "We're his first family, Mi."

"His first real family," I corrected.

"He never talks about his parents, I was too young when Dad took him in."

"All you need to know is that we looked out for him and he's glad he's here," Letty said, taking Mia's hand as they stood.

"I'm glad he's here too," Mia commented.

I smiled. All you need to know is that we looked out for him. Probably the earliest example that I had heard of. Since the day Leon and I came along the others had just been proving day after day how they looked out for each other. This was another one of those times.

In silence I led the way. I made sure to stand on the step that creaked. It was my signal to the boys that we were coming down. The girls came down after me. They were a couple of steps behind me so when we got to the bottom I was able to see the a glimpse of Leon and Vince. They must have seen me because suddenly Vince started to play. The girls stopped, looking at each other once again.

"Come on," I said softly.

I took their hands and led them into the living room. Vince was sat on the arm of the armchair, guitar on his knee as he played. Leon was sat on the floor, crossed legged near him. As Vince played I pulled the girls closer. We sat across from Leon, creating a kind of semi-circle. I sat between the girls. We sat the same way as Leon. I didn't have to look at the girls to know they were questioning what was going on.

Vince had started off soft and slow but now we were seated he put on more of a beat. Leon tapped his fingers on his knee, his eyes closed. Unexpectedly, but completely naturally, Leon came in, singing along as Vince played. I'd heard him sing a few times but nothing like this. This wasn't his style but it was perfect for the moment. It was gentle enough to not be too much but lively enough to not evoke to much emotion. It was a feel-good song really. The first time I heard it I just had to smile. That's why we chose it.

As the song progressed the girls stretched out, getting more comfortable. I smiled, it was working. They seemed more relaxed than I'd seen them in a long time. Mia's foot was even wiggling to the beat and from the corner of my eye I could see Letty mouthing the words. They both had this look in their eyes that I couldn't quite pinpoint but it was a start. As the song neared its end Leon stopped singing but Vince continued to play.

"What's this?" Letty asked.

"We wanted to help you guys feel a little better, even if only for a moment," Leon explained.

"We know how upset you guys are," Vince commented, looking down at his guitar as he played.

"And we get it," I assured. "We feel the same and we understand that it's not something you're just going to get over."

"But we want you to know that we're here," Leon explained. He stood up and took Letty's hand, pulling her into a standing position. "We're at your beck and call whenever you need someone to talk to, a shoulder to cry on or someone to make you laugh."

I got up and headed over to the CD player. I pushed the play button. Vince set his guitar aside and moved to help Mia stand. "Although today, you're stuck with someone to make you laugh."

I turned the volume up. It was the song that Vince and Leon had just done. Leon twirled Letty as Vince dipped Mia. The girls both started to laugh as they were stopped, pulled up right and thrown straight into a sloppy dance routine. I smiled as the girls laughter came more often and the smiles on their faces started to look less forced. Mia looked more like her old self as Vince swayed them both and whispered something in her ear. When she blushed and hit Vince's chest I knew that at least for now she was feeling normal again. Letty and Leon looked like they were on something from the way they were dancing, they were having more of their own competition and from the way Letty kept trying to knock Leon of balance I knew she too was feeling better.

At the same time both girls grabbed my hands, pulling me into the mix. We'd definitely found our way to cope and understand how each other was doing. We knew reality would kick in soon, so we decided to be there for each other and together we sung like idiots.
