I woke up at 8:30. I was a bit tired from the time difference but I decided to get up anyway. I put my feet in slippers and sat up in bed. I heard the sound of bed sheets moving. "Jennifer is that you?" Theresa asked. "It is," I answered. She tossed and turned a few times. "That's it. I'm not going back to sleep. We should see if we can head over to Davy's house for breakfast," Theresa suggested. We washed our faces, brushed our teeth, and got dressed. I put on jean shorts, a white collared shirt, leather sandals, and a straw-looking hat with a glittery silver band around it. I dabbed strawberry lip gloss to my lips and I was ready to go. I was pleasantly surprised that my hair still looked really good from last night. Theresa and I headed out of the hotel room and spotted Davy in the hallway. "Good morning loves. The others are still sleeping but that doesn't mean that we can't come over to my house for breakfast," he grinned. The three of us walked to Davy's house.
"It's so nice of you to stop by for breakfast. Hazel is finishing it as we speak," Davy's dad informed as we walked into the house. We sat down in the dining room. There was bacon, scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes, sausages, baked beans, and hash browns on the table. "You really go all out on breakfast," Theresa observed. "It is the most important meal of the day after all," Beryl replied. Hazel and Lynda joined us and we said grace before digging into our breakfast feast. "Thank you so much for letting us have breakfast with you. Everything was delicious," I exclaimed. "You're more than welcome. Family of David's is our family too. You girls are quite mature for your age," Harry replied. Theresa and I smiled. We watched some television in the living room while our stomach's settled. "You should take Theresa and Jennifer out on the nearby trails while they're visiting," Hazel told Davy. "I should. Follow me Theresa and Jennifer," he instructed.
We walked about a mile to a rustic stable. The walls were covered with vines. Theresa, Davy, and I entered the stable. "Here's where the local horses are kept. Most of these horses are Arabians," he stated. Davy picked out a light gray mare named Starlight for me to ride and a chestnut mare for Theresa. I groomed my horse and tacked her up for the ride. We led our horses outside and mounted them. Davy led us as we trotted onto the trail. Theresa doesn't have much experience riding horses so we took it slow. Davy and I galloped towards the end of the trail. The wind blew through my hair. It felt like we were flying. It was magical. We slowed the horses down to cool down. "Good girl Starlight," I exclaimed petting her neck. She neighed softly at me. The three of us dismounted and we took care of the horses.
When we walked into the house, we were faced with two angry parents. "Where have the two of you been?" Mike asked Theresa and me. "Davy took us here in the morning for breakfast and we went trail riding," I answered. "And you didn't think to leave a note?" Phyllis inquired. "I'm sorry mom. I guess we were so excited about being in another country that we forgot to leave a note. Davy was looking after us though," Theresa replied. "I suppose we can let it slide this time. Just try to remember to leave a note next time so we don't get worried," Mike said gently. "Okay," Theresa and I promised. "What time is the concert tonight?" Harry asked. "It's at six," Davy answered. "We're attending your concert," he informed. "That will be great," we replied. Drew and the others met us for lunch with Davy's family before the eight of us drove to the concert venue.
The venue was huge like every place we have performed at. Our crew transported the equipment and instruments from our storage van to the stage. Theresa, Drew, and I kept busy by playing different games. Hide and Seek was especially fun having a whole theater and backstage area to hide in. The silence was nerve-wracking waiting to be found. "Boo," Theresa shouted. I jumped and screamed. "I found you," she laughed. "You scared me so bad," I said breathlessly putting my hand on my heart. "Sorry sis," Theresa replied hugging me. "It's time for dinner everyone," Phyllis announced. We ran backstage. There was pot roast, mashed potatoes, carrots, lemon jello, and a berry medley. I helped myself to the food and we ate together.
At six o'clock, the concert started. Every show seems to be better than the last. The crowd clapped for a good five minutes straight. We bowed a few times and walked off the stage. "This was your best performance yet," Drew exclaimed. "Thank you so much," I smiled hugging him. We kissed. "All of us have a special surprise for the three of you," Davy said mysteriously. "What is it?" Theresa, Drew, and I asked. "Close your eyes," Mike instructed. We closed our eyes. I felt someone put a blindfold over my eyes and pick me up. "Hey! What's the big idea?" I said confused of what was going on. "You're okay. Just trust me," Mike soothed. I figured that he was the one carrying me. I heard a door open and shut and I felt the rumble of driving on the road.
The car stopped after about fifteen minutes. Mike carried me to the mystery location. I was becoming quite excited for the surprise. I heard the door shut and soft laughter. I was set down on something soft. "You may remove your blindfolds," Micky informed. I quickly tore the blindfold from my face and saw that the Beatles were right in front of me. I was shocked and so excited at the same time. "Hello love," Paul grinned. "Hi! It's such an honor to meet you," I stammered. I was about to shake his hand but he pulled me into a hug. I immediately hugged him back. My mind couldn't believe that this was happening. I felt honored to receive hugs from John, Ringo, and George and be able to hug them back. Paul pulled me aside. "I'm sorry to hear about your parents. My mum died when I was young so I understand what you're going through. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here," he whispered. "Thank you," I replied. Paul gave me a quick peck on the cheek and we joined the others. We had such a fun night singing songs together and chatting. It was an unreal experience. Another goal on my bucket list has been accomplished.
Hey everyone! I'm happy to say that ap testing is finally over so I should be able to concentrate more on writing. There has been some minor conflicts over my decision to plant some present-day technology into the book. I thought it might be an interesting to incorporate it and not have it be a complete time travel story where technology gets brought into the past. Anyway, I've decided to stop bringing new technology into the story so let's all take a deep breath and get back on track to what's important like the Monkees. Thanks for continuing to read this story! It means a lot.
Lots of love,
