Thank You All For Waiting!
No.
It's not.
Decided, John started to pack as soon as he could.
"Moving in?!"
Harry said in a very surprised voice. "You are moving in with Greg? So soon?"
John frowned at his sister's skeptical expression. "Thought you would be happy."
"I am happy for you dear brother, but it just seems that everything is happening so soon."
"That's because everything that is happening is so right."
Harry smiled at her brother, it was good to see him so sure. So contended. At last.
"But we haven't even met him yet!" Said Clara.
"He's coming over for dinner, this Sunday." Harry informed Clara.
For reasons unexplained, John blushed. It was a very special feeling, getting everybody to meet Greg. A complete family portrait.
"So when's the wedding?" Clara teased.
They laughed.
"So, are you losing the old flat, John?"
"Yep. No use for the lonely den." Said John, gulping down his tea.
"We'll miss it." Said Clara. "And you."
"Girls! I'm not leaving the city!"
"But you are certainly not Mr. Available anymore!" Sang Clara.
There was a knock on the door. Harry opened the door to usher in Greg, who was carrying beautiful flowers.
"Oh! This man is proper! Great choice brother dear!" Said Harry accepting the flowers.
"We approve!" Squealed Clara.
"Thank you ladies. Me and my man would like to invite you at our place, anytime you find convenient." Said Greg with a kind, warm smile and went on to go and kiss his love.
"Oh! We don't want to catch you guys naked!"
John blushed. "Let's feed the man."
"How could we not know that our DI was such a dashing, handsome dreamboat?" asked Clara.
"Awww! The media doesn't do you any justice!" cooed Harry, much to John's embarrassment and Greg's amusement. He held John's hand and said "Maybe because I'm a 'guys only' boat Clara and the media keeps the competition down." He said winking at Harry.
The girls loved his man. John was on cloud nine.
The day John was finally moving out of the old flat, Harry and Clara were there.
"Greg, my brother is a great guy." Said Harry. They were standing outside John's building while the movers were putting things in the van. John's possessions mostly consisted of books, a few artifacts and his clothes. It wouldn't take much time. John was supervising the moves.
"Be careful with that chest folks!" He yelled at the men. He stole a glance at Greg.
"Tell me about it." Said Greg to Harry, while he returned John's look with a smile.
"He deserves to be loved more than anyone else in this world." Harry said, looking at John. "Promise me, you'll be by his side."
Greg turned to look at Harry, "Always."
"Welcome to our home Dr Watson." Said Greg locking his arms around John's waist.
John sighed and gave him a quick kiss.
"Are you nervous?"
"No."
Greg ran his hand through John's hair and looked at him with concern.
"What's it then?"
John met Greg's eyes and replied "I'm afraid."
Greg gave his most charming smile and raised an eyebrow at the man in his arms. "You are afraid that I'll pop a ring out of my pocket?"
"Nope." Smiled John, holding on to the lapels of Greg's coat. "I'm afraid that now that all this has happened what if…"
"We'll manage." Said Greg firmly.
John released a contended breath. "We will."
They kissed again. This time, leisurely.
"So, will you sleep on the sofa?" Asked Greg smugly.
John was game for teasing, "Sure! I'll just go and put my red boxers on. Hope you don't mind a semi-naked flatmate."
"Nope, but I prefer a fully naked one."
Two hearts beating with anticipation of a new journey. Two days ending in one warm bed. Two pairs of eyes seeing each other before oblivion.
A pair of grey blue eyes burned in the darkness of an ancient mansion, with the pain of an ember-like heart.
