Chapter Thirty-Six Dancing the Night Away

Lana sat in her window wrapped in a blanket to keep her warm since she was in her pjs. She glanced over at Jake as he slept peacefully admiring the tattoo on his arm before turning her attention to the skin peaking out above the covers smiling. Renesmee was curled up in bed asleep. Seth was deep asleep having not been able to sleep for part of the night. Esme glanced at the stairs wondering if anyone would be awake soon. Emmett was playing video games while Jasper stared at the stock market overview on his ipad. Alice was on the phone with her broker checking on her investments. Rosalie flipped through a magazine. Edward and Bella had gone out hunting to spend time together. Jake stirred he looked around in a sleepy haze feeling someone's gaze on him.
Lana got up quietly and walked over to the bed she sat down next to Jake before leaning down to kiss him gently "Good morning sleepyhead."
Jake looked at her smiling softly as he returned the kiss "Good morning Miss Homecoming queen."
Alice finished her phone call then glanced at the clock "its 10 o clock the girls should be getting up by now. We have so much preparation to do if they are going to be ready for the dance tonight." She headed up the stairs to go wake up Lana.
Rosalie got up to follow Alice knowing they would have to face the battle of getting Lana away from Jake for a few hours. Jake glanced at the doorway hearing Alice's voice he groaned and pulled Lana close to him not ready to give her up just yet. Lana rolled her eyes getting free of Jake's grasp only to run into her closet and lock the door not wanting her 'sisters' to see her in her current state. Jake got out of the comfortable bed and dressed. Rosalie and Alice looked at Jake as they walked in the room before trying to find Lana.
Jake glanced at the pair "she's in her closet. I guess I'll go hang out with the guys since I know how long it takes girls to get ready." He headed down the stairs to where the rabbit was parked in the driveway.
Lana walked out of her closet dressed she watched Jake leave then turned to Rosalie and Alice "I guess we better get started since eventually Renesmee will need help as well."
Alice looked at Lana then pouted "Well you don't even sound excited. You won homecoming queen and you are going to the dance with your lover you should be happy."
Lana smiled at Alice "I am happy. I guess it hasn't kicked in yet that I won the crown or that I have an amazing boyfriend who would do anything for me."
Alice pushed Lana into the bathroom "it still hasn't kicked in that you have an amazing boyfriend? You two have been dating for almost a year now. Get in the shower so we can work on your hair."
Lana looked at Alice with a serious face "you have to remember that before Jake my only experience had been with Nahuel and a few other vampires but nothing lasted very long." She stripped and got in the shower.
Meanwhile in La Push Jake rolled Embry out of his bed "get up dude. We have places to go and people to see."
Embry hit the floor with a thump "its 10 o clock in the morning. Why do we have to go places on a Saturday?"
Jake looked at him "because the Cullens are helping Renesmee and Lana get ready for the dance this evening and I didn't want to stay around and be bored. If we go to the beach there will be plenty of hot girls for you to try and hook up with."
Embry rubbed his eyes thinking before glaring at Jake "I've met all the hot girls at Forks and no one would come visit this place in October when it's cold. Now if you want to go to the mall at Port Angeles where there is undiscovered potential then fine we can go there."
Jake groaned 'why the mall? Of course it is where the girls go but I hate the mall unless I'm with Lana and she's trying on clothes that make her look hotter than normal.' He glanced down at his friend "Fine we can go to the mall. Now get up."
Embry got up and got dressed while Jake just sat on his bed "honestly Jake I know she's your imprint and all but it isn't the end of the world to not spend time with her. Considering she's getting all pretty for you so that when you go to the dance you two look amazing together you should be happy that she's going through all the effort."
Jake glared lightly at Embry "I appreciate that she is making an effort to look beautiful for me even though she always does. I just hate sitting there doing nothing while everyone else is part of the process of making her look fancy. Besides most of the time all I want to do is take the clothes off her and show her just how much I love her."
Embry got up faking a gag "Didn't need to hear that dude. Ok let's go before I throw up from the imagery you have presented me with."
Jake headed out to the rabbit with Embry wondering how long it was going to take Lana and Renesmee to get ready for the dance.
Embry looked at the rabbit then at Jake "really you couldn't have borrowed one of the Cullens' cars to come hang out with me? The rabbit isn't a babe magnet and when your girlfriend has cars that will attract the babes you take one of your girlfriend's cars."
Jake growled "Fine we'll stop by the Cullens and exchange the rabbit for another vehicle." He got in and once Embry was in and buckled he sped off to Forks.
At the Cullen house Renesmee ran into Lana's bedroom finally waking up an hour after Lana did. Lana rolled her eyes at Renesmee's entrance sitting on her bed as Alice brushed through her wet hair. Seth poked his head in hearing Renesmee before going to join Emmett and Jasper in the living room. Rosalie forced Renesmee into the bathroom towards the shower. Jasper and Emmett were playing video games they paused long enough to hand Seth a controller and add him to the game before they resumed the game. Esme worked on making breakfast for Seth now that he was awake.
Jake pulled up to the house he parked the rabbit and headed inside. Lana blinked hearing the car door shut she tried to move only to be yanked back by Alice who was brushing her hair.
Embry followed after Jake 'Hopefully Lana will let us borrow the Porsche it will totally give off the impression I want for the babes.'
Jake ran up the stairs to his girlfriend's room he looked at Lana "Hey beautiful can I have the keys to one of your cars? Embry wants to go look for hot girls at the mall and the rabbit isn't cool enough for him."
Lana blinked at Jake before pulling her robe tighter hearing Embry's thoughts she gently stopped Alice and got up she dug her Porsche keys from her dresser and threw them over to Jake before sitting back down on her bed. Jake smiled softly he walked over to her and kissed her forehead before he headed out to the garage. Embry smiled seeing the Porsche logo on the keys. Jake got into the Porsche and waited for Embry to get in before he drove them to the mall in Port Angeles. Alice finished brushing Lana's hair now that it was as straight as it could be.
Embry smiled as Jake slid the top down "yep this car will get us the babes. I mean me of course since you are so dedicated to your girlfriend it's painful to watch. Just try not to be the mysterious, brooding guy so the babes will focus on me."
Jake drove chuckling "but mysterious, brooding guy is what I do best. That's how I got girls to notice me that way before I met Lana. I guess I can try since I haven't been that guy since I met Lana."
Renesmee sat down wrapped in a towel as Rosalie started brushing her hair. Lana groaned when Alice pushed her into the chair in front of her vanity. Alice started working on Lana's eyebrows. Rosalie ran the brush through Renesmee's hair trying to gently untangle her niece's hair. Lana kept her eyes closed finding ways to ignore the pain. Alice looked at Lana's eyebrows smiling when they were done she turned her attention to Lana's hair debating what to do with it. She eventually pulled it into an up do pinning different sections trying to make the style appear all one piece. Renesmee watched Alice with awe never quite used to Alice's ability to make any style look perfect no matter who she was dealing with.
In Port Angeles Jake parked the car in sight of a crowd of girls their age. Embry got smiling as two of the girls walked over to them.
The girls giggled one of them placed a hand on Embry's arm "What's your name handsome?"
Embry smiled taking her hand and kissing the top of it "Embry and you are one of the most beautiful girls I have seen in my lifetime. May I have the honor of knowing your name?" He laid on the charm hoping to get the girls' numbers by the end of the afternoon.
The girl fell for his charm she smiled sweetly leaning in closer to Embry "my name is Alicia."
Jake rolled his eyes getting out of the car he pulled out his phone and texted Lana *Well apparently your Porsche is a 'babe magnet' according to Embry and it seems to be working as he has two girls falling for his charm. Hope all your preparations are going ok. Love you-J* 'Honestly I would rather be at the auto shop than here listening to Embry flirt. Oh well had to take the weekend off for the bonfire last night and the dance tonight.'
The other girl walked over to Jake she shut the phone and looked up at him batting her eyelashes "Don't be rude. You can actually show interest in those around you."
Jake looked at the girl not affected by her attempt to flirt "I'm here to drive my friend around not to pay attention to others. There's a place I'd rather be but I left in the best interest of the people there." 'Of course Embry isn't flirting with both of them so the friend decided I should be her target. As if I'm even interested in her.'
The girl looked up at him frowning at first then smiled taking his phone from him "playing hard to get are we? I always like a challenge."
Embry stopped flirting with Alicia to glance over at Jake "uh oh." He looked back at Alicia "excuse me for a moment while I deal with my friend so he doesn't do anything stupid." He went over to Jake and grabbed his arm "come on Jake."
Lana blinked hearing her phone go off she reached for it ignoring Alice's protest recognizing Jake's text tone. She smiled texting back *of course it is sweetie that's why the guys at school are always jealous that I'm driving it. Well Alice is torturing my hair but other than that I'd say things are going great. Miss you my love but I understand why you left. Love you-L p.s. Let Embry have the girls you are all mine and anyone who tries to take you away from me will have to deal with my wrath and you know how terrifying I can be *
Alicia looked at her friend pouting slightly since Embry wasn't paying attention to her "Did you really have to take his phone from him and flirt with him when he clearly isn't interested?"
Alicia's friend looked at her "He's just playing hard to get." She blinked hearing the phone make a noise she opened it and blinked "says he has a text message from babe hmm let's open it." She opened it then frowned reading it "I'd like to see this girl take me on. Obviously he doesn't care that much about her if he came to the mall with his friend without her." She texted back *I don't know who you are but your boy is all mine now. He fell under my charms almost instantly. Better luck next time*
Jake growled and took the phone from her glaring at her as he started to shake "I told you I was only here for my friend. I am not playing hard to get. I am not some challenge. I have no interest in you honestly you don't even compare to my girlfriend and you never will." 'I wish Lana was here so she could show this girl why I am not interested. I also wish Lana was here to help me calm down since this girl is basically acting like any girlfriend of mine is ugly compared to her. No one insults my imprint whether it is direct or indirect.'
Embry tried to calm Jake down getting frustrated that Jake was resisting. Alicia shook her head at her friend unable to believe the nerve of her friend. Lana looked at the text her eyes changed to crimson before she got up and got dressed grabbing the Ferrari keys and heading to the garage. Emmett went out after Lana hearing her run through the house and seeing Jasper tense up as she went past. Rosalie sighed softly working with Renesmee's hair.
Renesmee blinked "I wonder what made her so mad."
Alice "the text she got wasn't from Jake. Some girl took Jake's phone and basically said that Jake was now hers and that he fell under her charms. You know how Lana gets when someone tries to take Jake from her."
Lana had made it out of the driveway before Emmett caught up he sighed watching her go knowing that Lana was going to cause trouble. Lana sped pushing her car getting to the mall in 20 minutes instead of 45. She parked near the Porsche before getting out tense her eyes were back to their normal violet color though she was still pissed. Jake looked up smelling her scent he looked at her instantly calm only to frown not sure why Lana was there. Embry sighed relieved when Jake calmed only to gulp when he noticed Lana and her tense state. Alicia's friend glanced over at Lana she had put her hand on Jake's chest when he was speaking. Alicia glanced at Lana having a sinking feeling that this was Jake's girlfriend.
Lana walked over she removed the girl's hand from Jake's chest before stepping in front of her boyfriend and letting out a snarl "He's mine. He would never go for someone like you when he has me."
Alicia's friend looked at her then gulped "you're his girlfriend? He never mentioned you at all."
Lana had seen the past where the girl had talked about taking her on "still think you can take me on?" she curled her hand into a fist ready to fight if the girl still wanted to.
The friend paled slightly afraid of the beautiful but clearly strong girl "No. I'll leave him alone."
Jake wrapped an arm around Lana's waist pulling her to him before nipping gently at her neck getting her to calm down. Embry went back to flirting with Alicia.
Lana snuggled up to Jake before frowning slightly "I have to go finish getting ready for the dance." She said softly she leaned up and kissed him before getting in the Ferrari.
Jake sighed softly watching her go before leaning against the Porsche as Embry continued to flirt.
Later on that evening Jake sighed as Alice fixed his hair it had been cut and made short but not buzzed. Lana watched Alice sitting in Jake's lap smiling softly. Renesmee and Seth had left for the dance already as Seth had been fixed up while they waited for Jake to return. Jake nuzzled his girlfriend's neck careful to not mess up Alice's work. Lana gave him a quick peck before heading downstairs to grab a small snack before they headed to the dance. Jake sat still long enough for Alice to fix his hair before he went down to get Lana ready to go to the dance so it would be over with faster. Lana finished her snack she glanced at Jake before rolling her eyes and following him to the Porsche handing him the keys. Embry was at the dance with his cheerleader friend feeling slightly weird after spending most of the afternoon flirting with Alicia. Quil had stayed home still Claire was in town he was hanging out with his little imprint.
Renesmee walked into the dance wearing the dress from the night before with her curls pulled up in a bun. She had put on a pair of silver flats and a light layer of pink lip gloss. Seth walked in with her wearing a black suit jacket and black slacks with a white dress shirt and silver tie. They looked at the cafeteria. The windows were covered with black construction paper. The tables had been pushed to the wall and one table had drinks and snacks on it. The lights had been covered to make the room darker. Streamers in the school colors hung down above the door. A dj was set up near the other entrance to the cafeteria.
Renesmee glanced at the dance floor before dragging Seth to the floor wanting him to dance with her. Jake pulled up to the school he parked in Lana's normal parking spot before getting out. Lana got out and dragged Jake into the dance taking in the decorations before heading to the dance floor. The other students looked over at Lana taking in the dress she had worn the night before and the killer black heels she was wearing. Her hair was pulled into a simple updo and she wore no makeup or jewelry. Jake wore a black dress shirt with no tie and black slacks with dress shoes matching his girl. His hair was shorter but styled in a way that was meant to be sexy.
Jake smiled and pulled his girl close he glanced at the top of her head then sighed knowing he couldn't set his head on hers with the beautiful crown she was wearing. He danced with her enjoying the music and enjoying the fact that he was with his mate.
Principal "Now that they have arrived will the Homecoming Queen and her date come to the center of the floor for your dance."
Lana rolled her eyes but dragged Jake to where the principal was standing. A spot light covered the pair as a slow song began. Jake danced with Lana keeping her close without getting too close that the chaperones would disapprove. Renesmee cuddled up close to Seth smiling as she watched the pair dance. Embry had taken his date outside for some alone time. Eventually the song ended replaced with a more upbeat song. Lana looked up at Jake smiling she reached up and kissed him softly. Jake grinned returning the kiss as couples around them danced. Renesmee sat by Seth at a table not up for dirty dancing like the rest of her classmates. Seth sipped some punch holding Renesmee's hand watching the guys and girls dirty dance blushing faintly not understanding how they could feel comfortable basically having sex in public. Lana broke the kiss heading over to the drink table keeping a hand on her lips as she for once took in the impact Jake's kiss had on her. Jake watched her go before going to join Seth and Renesmee not wanting to look stupid for standing in the middle of the dance floor.
Renesmee looked up at Jake she smiled "Are you enjoying yourself Jake?"
Jake sat down next to her "Yep. It's a bit warm for me in this suit but I don't mind since it's a special night for Lana."
Renesmee looked at him she patted his hand "it may be a bit warm but you know it makes Lana happy that you are here with her. Plus you get to show all the guys in school how hot your girl is and that she is yours and only yours."
Lana sat down in the chair next to Jake's she discreetly removed her heels before setting her aching feet on Jake's lap "This place looks amazing today."
Jake kissed her cheek before gently rubbing the bottoms of her feet "It's not nearly as amazingly beautiful as you are."
Renesmee looked at Jake "such a suck up." She gently grabbed Seth's chin turning his attention to her. She gently kissed him distracting him from the dancing that was making him uncomfortable.
Lana let out a groan as Jake rubbed her feet "I guess I didn't realize how achy my feet were. Thank you sweetie my feet are feeling better already." She watched the dancers disgusted by the behavior before rolling her eyes as yet another fast song was played letting the teenagers continue to dance provocatively. 'Wonder if the teachers just gave up on stopping the couples.'
The dance finally came to a close after the DJ was cut off from playing fast songs. Lana put her shoes back on before walking outside with Jake, Renesmee, and Seth. Jake wrapped an arm around her leading her to the car. Renesmee and Seth walked over to Seth's car smiling glad they had gotten a chance to dance.
Embry ran over to Jake and Lana "Hey Jake can you give me and my date a ride home please?"
Jake turned towards Lana "what do you think? It is your car after all."
Lana looked at Embry rolling her eyes "Fine but hurry up and tell your date to get over here. "
Embry ran back over to his date and brought her back over getting in the back. His date looked at the car getting in then at Lana frowning at the blatant show of wealth. Jake waited for the two to be buckled up before heading out of the parking lot.
Lana glanced at the cheerleader that was Embry's date "How do we get to your house?" she ignored the frown not caring that her wealth was being shown off by the car.
The cheerleader mumbled the directions uncomfortable with being in the car with Lana. Embry wrapped an arm around the girl trying to get her to be more comfortable. Jake drove following the directions trying to ignore the tension of the two females in the car. Once the girl was dropped off the group headed to La Push. Lana relaxed now that the other girl was gone she closed her eyes as she begun to feel sleepy.
Embry got out at his house "Thanks Jake." He headed inside.
Jake headed back to Forks noticing Lana was already asleep. Lana curled up in the seat exhausted from the dance and the emotional whirlwind she had dealt with. Jake parked carefully picking Lana up as he walked up to her bedroom. He laid her down before lying down beside her closing his eyes and letting sleep over take him. Lana curled into his warmth finally asleep.
