Chapter Thirty Five: Clearing the Air

Matt couldn't sleep as much as he tried, the only thing he could think of was Gabby. Their fight kept replaying in head. He always thought that she wanted kids, she had said it a million times, but he couldn't understand what changed her mind. He knew that this wasn't something he could or would comprise on, even if that meant ending things.

Gabby sat on the chair as she looked out the window, the words of their fight echoed through her ears. She never said she didn't want kids. Gabby had spend her whole life wanting at least three kids running around, but ever since Tyler has come back into her life, things have changed, she has changed.

"Gabby," she heard her named through the silent dark room. She turned around to find Matt standing in the room. "I can't sleep," he stated as he moved closer to her.

"Me neither," she replied as she watched him. "I don't like fighting with you," Gabby said in a low quite voice.

"I don't like going to bed without you," Matt answered as he crouched down in front of her. "We need to talk," she simply said as his hand rested on her leg. Gabby nodded in agreement.

"Do you want kids?" Matt asked looking directly into her eyes.

"I have wanted kids my whole life and there is nothing then I want more than to have beautiful Casey babies, but there is a part of me that is so scared," tears began to trickle down Gabby's warm cheeks.

"Why are you so scared?" Matt asked as confusion filled his face.

"Because I don't know how to be a mother, I gave Tyler away hours after he was born, I wasn't around to take care of him when he was sick or to sooth him when he had nightmares. I don't know the first thing," Gabby explained.

Matt wiped her tears, "Baby, when you had Tyler you were young and all alone. You are not the same Gabby; you have grown into a beautiful, smart, and loving person. Any child would be lucky to call you mom. And you not knowing how to a mother is bull shit. I watch you everyday with Tyler and you are a great mom and because of that it makes me want to marry you even more."

"You really think I'm a great mom?" Gabby asked with a small smile.

"Absolutely, Tyler loves you. But I want you to know something."

"What?" Gabby asked looking confused.

Matt took Gabby's hand in his own, "I worry too, and that I'm not going to be a good father. I worry that my mom and dad messed me up so much that I just won't work right, but then I see how much you love Tyler and the way you are with him, and it makes me want to be a parent with you."

"Matt you are a great dad," Gabby pulled him closer and kissed him. Matt sat up and pulled Gabby off of the chair, he then sat in the chair, placing her on his lap.

"So what are we saying here?" Matt asked as he pulled back from the kiss.

"I think that we are saying we're scared, but I willing to face it with you."

"I'll face anything with you," Matt responded as he pulled her into another kiss.

Gabby pulled back quickly, "Can I sleep in your bed now?"

Matt smiled, "I didn't make you sleep out here, and I think you made that choice."

"Whatever," Gabby stated as she smiled back.

"Yes, you can sleep in OUR bed anytime," Matt said pulling her into another kiss.

Gabby sat up and tugged Matt out of the chair; she led him down the hall and into the bedroom. As Matt walked through the threshold, she shut the door behind him. When Matt turned around, he watched a look of happiness fill Gabby's face. She reached for the bottom of her shirt and removed it up and over her head. Matt took in the sight of Gabby standing in her bar.

"I hear that make-up sex is the best kind," Gabby said as she let the shirt drop to the floor and made her way over to Matt.

"I think we are going to find out," Matt replied as he wrapped his arms around Gabby's waist and pulled her off of the ground as he attacked her lips. He moved them over to the bed and gently laid her down.

"I love you," Matt stated as he took his own shirt off.

"I love you too," Gabby whispered as his lips made contact with her neck.

For the rest of the night, they made love in the most passionate way possible. They let go of their angry with a touch and let go of their fear with the warmth of each other's body.
