No one was able to catch a break because as soon as Alex and Leo's wedding passed, Hilary and Jerry's wedding was right around the corner. Though, there wasn't much planning left to do, Hilary was the one who turned into a bridezilla, not the crazy and mean kind, but more along the lines of freaking out every ten seconds over some little detail she needed or missed. Sophia and Kim had their hands full with Hilary, trying to keep her calm and not kill Jerry and so, Misty and Alex got roped into more wedding duties as bridesmaids. "And I thought you were going to be the bridezilla", Alex joked one night after they finished their list from Kim.
"Haha", Misty laughed dryly, rolling her eyes.
"What? I'm serious Mis. You are so indecisive and oblivious, you wouldn't know where to start", Alex stated.
"Yeah, yeah, I get it. But thanks to you being my maiden of honor, I have nothing to worry about", Misty grinned happily.
"Yay me", Alex fake cheered, sitting down on her sofa with a glass of wine in hand, knowing it was much needed.
OoOoOoOo
The next few weeks passed by in a blur as today was finally the day. Surprisingly, both Hilary and Jerry were calm and their smiles told everyone they were so ready for this. Like Jack and Kim's wedding, Hilary's was just as extravagant as Bethany and Marie went all out for the occasion; making sure the guys looked handsome in their suits, the girl, exquisite in their dresses and Hilary's empire waist dress was perfect.
It was a sweet and heartfelt affair and the one thing that truly took everyone's breath away was Jerry's vows. "Hilary, we've known each other for fourteen year and call me crazy and weird but even back then, when I first saw you, I knew you were something special and I fell in love with you. Now, never in a millions years did I ever think of making a move on you because you were my best friends sister, so ,we became friends as that was the second best choice I could ever make because it brought me to the best choice of my life, today, right now. You see me for me and love me anyways. I couldn't have asked for a better partner in life or a better woman to love. You make me smile, love unconditionally and I know that our life will be filled with nothing but love and admiration. I love you today, tomorrow and all eternity", Jerry beamed.
All the girls were crying as Hilary had to pull herself together. She smiled at Jerry who winked return and she knew, like Jerry, that this was the best decision and moment of her life. "Jerry, there are so many words to describe you, me and us but the ones that stick out and mean the most to me are the ones that brought us here, to today. The humor we share can instantly turn my bad day into a good one, making me laugh and smile and you always know how to brighten my day, no matter what. Our strength has kept us afloat. We've ben through so much in our lives and I didn't know what to do or think, but somehow, you loving me and me loving you keep us together through every up and down. And out love. Everyone has their own love story and this is ours. My love for you warms my heart and I know I found my prince charming and soulmate for life. You've always been there for me and I know that that will never change because love, it never ending and we have al the time in the world to embrace it together", Hilary cries softly.
The reception was just as grand as her brother's but slightly more amusing as Jerry took center stage and partied the night away.
OoOoOoOo
As the months went by, Misty and Dean were finishing up plans for their wedding that actually wasn't as bad as Misty thought. Sure, there were times when Alex, Kim and Hilary wanted to kill Misty because she couldn't make a decision, but once something caught her eye, she took off running as if it were a dance routine and suddenly, things started to click.
It was the morning of the wedding and things were fairly calm. The guys did a final run through, making sure everything was set and the girls leisurely helped Misty get ready. "Mis, you look absolutely incredible; beautiful and a true princess", Alex beamed, zipping up Misty's dress that was strapless and fitted on the top and poofed out at the waist and failing just below the knee.
"Oh, stop it Lex", Misty waved off, looking at herself in the mirror. "But thank you, thank you for everything. You're the best".
"Ok, now you stop it. It's your wedding day. You get all the compliments". Alex shot back laughing as the rest of the girls, Kim, Hilary and Haley joined Alex and Misty for a group hug before they had to get outside.
The ceremony, like Kyle and Charlotte's was small and intimate as both Dean and Misty came from smaller families and everyone knew that out of all the couples, these two were going to be the tear jerkers as their love was an evolution. "Misty, all my life, I wanted to find the perfect girl for me. I wanted a love like the fairytales and my grandparents, the type of love you can see from miles away and feel in your heart just by a simple glance. I wanted to smile every day because my heart was overfilled with love and I wanted to love endlessly with all my heart. But, I didn't know just how much my heart would be overcome with emotion or just how much my heat could take until met you. You immediately took over my heart but wouldn't let me take yours. I had to fight and prove to you that I loved you and I'm glad you did because there isn't any other love I want, just your love. Your love is what makes my life complete". Dean spoke, making Misty cry.
But she pulled herself together and shared her love for dean. "Dean, you're everything I wanted in a man. You're thoughtful, kindhearted, hilarious and loving. You make me feel loved and protected and things I never thought possible. I wasn't like a normal girl, trying to find a guy and I was clueless when you started to flirt with me and I think that deep down, I thought that it wasn't possible for a handsome guys like yourself to find a girl like me interesting but you did. You stayed and broke down my walls, showing me how much you really cared for me and you, you changed my life. I love you and I know that no matter what happens in the future, out love will continue to grow, strengthening our relationship and will be something others can look at as a true love story", Misty smiled.
The evening carried on with a relaxed feeling in the air, relief that is was over. As Misty and Dean were walking around, greeting their guests and catching up with family and friends, they stopped at their friends table where Kyle and Charlotte were seated. "Kyle! Charlotte! I'm so glad you could make it!" Misty cheered, hugging the two.
"Are you kidding? We wouldn't miss it for the world and can I just say, it's about damn time", Kyle smirked.
"Shut up", Misty replied, rolling her eyes and punching Kyle in the arm.
"I'm serious Mis, it's been almost two years. Its ben so long, we're popping out a kid in a few months", Kyle continued, pointing down to Charlotte's growing stomach.
"Oh my god, that's right! Congratulations!" Misty shouts happily and Dean nods in agreement.
The four share a hug as Charlotte beams, "Thank you. We're really excited. Nervous but excited.
"Don't worry. You'll be fine", Dean starts.
"The baby will be in great hands because they have amazing parents", Misty finishes.
"See, this is why you two are my favorites. You're really sweet and caring", Kyle whispered between the two.
The three laughed as Misty and Dean waved a goodbye, getting a wink in return. Finally, things were done and they could get back to their normal lives, well as normal as it could be and there wasn't a better feeling in the world. They were taking the next step into their future and though it was unknown about what was going to happen, they had one another to lean on and were excited for creating a new chapter to their life.
One year later:
Things for the four couples are going well. Though there were times when the nights were lonely with the guys on night shifts, Hilary's hospital rotations and Misty, Kim and Alex traveling a little more with the new contract they worked out with Brighton but this was the sacrifice they all had to make. They all loved their careers and if they had to do it, they did it because it wasn't about making a living, it was about the fulfilling the job they signed up to do.
Of course they all still got together for dinner when time allowed and it was just like old times, chatting and laughing about their lives and still, after all of these years, there were still plenty to talk about. The gang was at Jerry and Hillary's house this time for dinner and some things never change. They had just finished eating dinner and were talking in groups, the girls gossiping about who knows what and the guys telling stories about the day when Alex caught a glance at Jerry and noticed his eye was red and it was darker underneath his eye and down. "Hey Jerry, what the hell happened to your eye?" Alex asked, catching everyone's attention as they stared at him.
"Nothing", Jerry immediately shook off.
Alex stared at Jerry for a second before leaning over the table and grabbing his face. "Alex, what are you doing?" Leo questioned, pulling his wife back down.
"Who hit you?" Alex wondered bluntly, still staring intently at Jerry's face.
"You got hit today?" Hilary yelled, joining the conversation and getting up to look at Jerry's face.
"Thanks Alex", Jerry spat out and anger.
"Yes, thank you Alex", Hilary countered and then asked stern tone," Jerry, what happened?"
Jerry glared at the girls and then looked over to the guys who all had smirks on their faces. "Yeah Jer, tell them what happened", Jack coaxed with the grin.
"Fuck you", Jerry hissed and then turned to Hilary." It's nothing to worry about. I just got into a little tiff today that's all".
Laughter filled the air as Jack, Leo and dean couldn't contain themselves. "Hil, I'll tell you want really happened," Jack started, sending a sweet smile over to Jerry. "You're husband here, got hit in the face by an older ladies purse.
"What?" Hilary and Alex asked at the same time with Hilary confused on what was happening and Alex who was just laughing uncontrollably.
"Yeah, we were chasing this kid, rounded a corner and Jerry ran right into her, knocking her down to the ground. So, instinctively she starts swings and as you can see, she got a few good hits in. I pulled Jerry off her, they both apologized to one another and we carried on", Jack explained.
"Oh my god Jerry", Kim said in a concerned tone, "Is the woman alright?"
"Haha", Jerry responded sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
"Well Jerry, please tell me you were at least a gentleman and let the woman fall on top of you", Misty joined in.
Jerrys eyes wandered around the room as Misty just shook her head in disbelief.
"At least we can say some things never change", Hilary finished, kissing Jerry's head as she got up from the table with her plate in hand.
Everyone followed suit, bringing all the dishes to the kitchen so they could clean up and enjoy the rest of the evening. And, they did. Retelling stories from the past, sharing secrets some may or may have not known, were not supposed to know or just ones they have long forgotten about and just feeling young at heart, not worrying about anything else.
The night ended after midnight and as they said their goodbyes, Jack felt an uneasy feeling in the air. He casually scanned the area and didn't see anything out of het ordinary, but, as he was focusing back to the house, he could have sworn he saw a figure lurking in the darkness. "Jack, you ok?" Jerry whispered when the others were talking.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just make sure all your windows and door are locked, ok", Jack brushed off.
"Of course, I always do. But you sure you're ok?" Jerry again with a worried expression.
"Yeah, totally", Jack smiled.
That night, it was a sleepless night for not only Jack but Jerry as well as he knew something was going on. Over the next few months, Jack was beyond paranoid; always looking over his shoulder and watching everyone and everything around him. Of course, he didn't tell anyone but Jerry kept his eye out for his friend, brother in law and partner, knowing Jack wasn't the same.
But, as time went by, things started to calm down as there was distraction after distraction. From Kyle's beautiful baby girl being born to Kick Step branching out. There were also talks from promotions to babies and everything in between and that's exactly what Jack needed.
OoOoOoOo
After a while, Jack was back to his normal self and loving life. Jerry stopped watching Jack and everyone was busy doing their own thing. And since everyone was busy in their own life, they failed to notice the numerous eyes watching their every move, documenting their life, friends, schedules and learning everything they could about the eight. The clicking sounds went unnoticed and just when they let their guard down, that's when they became vulnerable and opened up the perfect time for them to be attacked, knowing that was the best chance they had in eliminating the target.
It's not about your past, the memories you have or all the mistakes you made along the way. It's about growing up, learning from everything you've be through and finding yourself, the true you, the person you were destined to be. And, it's about meeting new people and falling in love with 'THE ONE'.
Sure, the eight's life weren't prefect, far from it actually but the journey they went through prepared them for the real world, made them realize what's really important to them, what they wanted their future to look like and In the end, it's not about where you came from, its about where you're going and ultimately, following your heart. Everything you've seen and done led you here, to this moment, to this decision and to this final choice in…WHERE THE HEART LIES.
And there you have it folks, THE LAST CAHPTER…
Thank you once again for all the support you have given me and this story.
I would love for this to reach 600 reviews, so please, let me know what you think.
I'll see you all soon for the sequel!
Thanks and until next time,
Missy xx
