For the past month Serenity had been adjusting to her new home with Sirius, filling out legal documents of being his daughter to become the direct heir to the Black family name. Valiant had learned to enjoy his new home as well as Kreacher somewhat warming up to Serenity. Sirius, however, was dumping everything out from the house, tossing old furniture, removing creatures that shouldn't be there. Kreacher would try to takes a few items and hide them away, yet Sirius would always kick the poor elf out before cleaning again.
At one point Dumbledore sent a letter about how Buckbeak had to be hidden as well, or else the ministry was going to execute the poor thing. Luckily for Serenity she found the creature still lingering around Hogwarts in the forest, where she quickly grabbed and flew him away. At the time, people were still trying to track Sirius, so she would change into him using some polyjuice potion and travel to different countries to make the ministry scramble to catch him. She would even send out letters for Sirius in these different countries for him to be able to talk to Harry. Finally at the end of July she brought Buckbeak back to Sirius' home to hide him in one of the rooms, making Sirius quite happy to see the beast fine and well.
When she returned, she helped Sirius clean while the flying creature and her dire wolf just stayed in the master room. During her free time she went in to town and met an elderly muggle woman and help walk her to her niece's store. There Serenity bought quite a few items of groceries to a few books she could read on her own spare time.
It was finally the first week of August where she felt the anticipation of going back to Hogwarts, seeing her friends again. She sat in her room reading by the fire as Sirius sat on the couch. This was their usual place to read and talk. Valiant laid close to Serenity, letting her lean against him as she read her favorite book, Pride and Prejudice.
"Why do you read that book?"
Serenity looked to see Sirius eyeing the book as she gave a small giggle.
"The characters are relatable and there's one character in here that sticks out the most for me."
Sirius huffed saying that she should read something a bit more enjoyable but for Serenity it was. She continued to read until Kreacher appeared and muttered,
"Dumbledore and guest have arrived sir and madam."
"Thank you Kreacher."
Serenity said as Kreacher disappeared again. Sirius got up first to walk and greet Dumbledore in the portrait room. Serenity went to her closet to put on a grey sweater over her t-shirt then went over to the mirror. She stared at herself as she slowly changed how she looked. She changed her physical appearance as she concentrated extremely hard to visualize how she would look.
Ok...Long black hair...Grey eyes...Sharp facial features…
She chanted to herself as she slowly opened her eyes to see herself different. She gave a sigh of relief as she quickly brushed her hair and changed her clothes. She placed on a simple cotton long sleeve shirt and some simple skinny jeans. She slipped into some black sneakers as she rushed down and eavesdropped into the conversation.
She peaked from the doorway arch of the portrait room to see the familiar face of Severus Snape, her old potion professor, and Albus Dumbledore. She stayed hidden as she saw the two men walk to the living room where all the portraits were as well as Sirius. She stood quietly as she listened in on their conversation.
"Ah Snevillus, pleasure to see you again."
"You're lucky that Dumbledore knowns of your innocence or I would have gladly thrown you back into Azkaban."
"And still the same charming talker you once were. Still talking to your little death eater friends?"
"Enough you two!"
Albus spoke in a harsh but calm tone as both men silenced themselves.
"Now...Severus I have told you about what had really happened to Sirius here but you must be calm for this next part."
"Albus, you told me to follow you for a specially request...Please get to the point."
"Well as I told you, I would like you to train someone for any situation-"
"You want me to train Black?"
She heard a loud thump as she peaked inside to see Sirius standing very close to Severus, pointing at him.
"I can easily beat you in duel...But you are not! I REPEAT NOT! Letting him train her!"
" Her?"
Serenity tried to hide away but Dumbledore saw her and gave a smile,
"Ah I see you're already here, please come in."
She wanted to runaway but slowly straightened up to walk in. As quickly as possible Sirius stood between her and Snape as he hissed at Dumbledore.
"No. I'll train her instead. I will not allow him to go near her!"
"Now Sirius you must calm down."
"I don't want a death eater training her."
"If you remember, Black, I no longer am a death eater...My allegiances are well known now…"
She heard a footstep as she saw Sirius' back tense. He wasn't willing for Snape to see her and she wasn't too sure she wanted to see him again so soon. She gave a small sigh as she touched Sirius' arm to say softly,
"It's alright…"
"Yes Black...I'm sure I can take care of some priss of a girl for you."
She heard her uncle give out a growl as Serenity walked around him to face her old Potion Master. His hair was down and shined as if it was greasy. His head was high as his eyes looked down upon her as he gave a sneer.
"...You..."
"Don't you dare speak to her in such rude tone."
"If I remember correctly, I've already met Miss Alice Black, but I never knew she was already in such close contact with her convict father."
Sirius was clenching his fist as Serenity placed her hand on his arm again as she look back at Snape.
"Excuse me? If you want to say something about me say it to my face. For such blows are quite unfair, even for you, Severus Snape."
