Chapter 38

Looking down at his sleeping daughter, Patrick still could not believe that he was a father again. Unlike her older siblings, this little one made a quiet entrance without causing her parents any reason to be terrified. Now that she was here, perfectly safe and healthy in his arms, he finally felt all his nerves disappear. He was amazed at how perfect she was with her tiny nose, mouth and hands. Just as he had with both Emma and Gabriel, Patrick had immediately fallen completely in love.

"Hey," Sabrina said with a smile as she woke up to the site of Patrick holding their daughter.

"Hi," Patrick said taking his eyes off his daughter to look at Sabrina. "How are you feeling?"

"I feel pretty good. Better after getting some sleep," Sabrina said as Patrick brought their daughter over to her. "How is she?"

"She is amazing," Patrick said placing her into Sabrina's arms before sitting on the bed next to Sabrina.

"I can't believe she's here. She's so perfect," Sabrina said as her daughter gripped her finger.

"Just like her mom," Patrick said kissing the top of Sabrina's forehead.

"I love you," Sabrina said looking up at Patrick.

"I love you, too."

"Hi Guys," Elizabeth said coming into the room. "How are you doing in here?"

"We're good," Sabrina said looking toward Elizabeth briefly before looking back at her daughter. She couldn't seem to take her eyes off of her for more than a few seconds.

"Elizabeth? What are you still doing here?" Patrick asked.

"I have the pleasure of working a double shift. Have you guys decided on a name or are we sticking with Baby Girl Drake for now?"

"We have a name…" Patrick said.

"Okay, well what is it?"

"Well we promised Emma she would be the first to know," Sabrina said.

"Ahhh, of course. I'm sure Emma is super excited to meet her sister."

"Oh, she is," Patrick said with a laugh. "I called her at Robin's this morning and told her the news and she wanted to skip school and come over. But don't worry, school is almost over, so she'll be here soon."

Elizabeth laughed. "That sounds like Emma. And by the way, this little one is adorable! She has captured all of our hearts, especially Epiphany's. Has she come in to see you guys yet?"

"She came by as soon as she found out we were here," Patrick said with a smile.

"Elizabeth, thank you for everything. I'm so grateful that you happened to be on duty last night. I'm glad that one of our best friends was here when we welcomed our little girl. You have encouraged Patrick and I since the beginning and have been such a support to both of us over the last year," Sabrina said.

"Glad I was able to be there for all of it. I love you guys!"

"And we love you," Patrick said.

"All right, I will leave you three alone and come back to check on you before the end of my shift," Elizabeth said as she headed out of the room.

After Elizabeth left, they were only left alone for a few minutes before there was a knock on the door. It seemed like everyone at the hospital wanted to wish them well.

"Are you guys up for a visitor?" Felix asked poking his head into the door.

"Felix! Of course, please come in!" Sabrina said excited to see her best friend.

"Congratulations you guys!" Felix said entering the room with flowers and balloons.

"Thanks Felix," Patrick said.

"Felix, I'd like you to meet my daughter," Sabrina said looking up at him. "And little one," she said looking at her daughter. "I'd like you to meet your Uncle Felix," Sabrina said as she handed her to him.

"Oh my. The rumors on the floor are true. She really is the most beautiful baby. She looks just like you, Bri."

"You think so?" Sabrina asked.

"Definitely."

"I agree, she's gorgeous," Patrick said.

"I'm so happy for both of you," Felix said handing the baby back to Sabrina. "I can't think of two people who deserve happiness more than the two of you."

"Thanks, Fe. It's wonderful to just be able to enjoy being with her without having to worry about anything else."

"I'm sure it is."

"Felix!" Emma said entering the room with Robin coming in behind her, sticking close to the door.

"Miss Emma! How are you?"

"I'm good. I can't wait to meet my baby sister!"

"I'm sure you can't…. Let me tell you, you are in for a quite a treat."

"Hi Daddy!" Emma said running over to her Dad.

"Hi Sweetheart. Did you have a good day at school?"

Emma nodded. "Hi Sabrina! Is that the baby?" Emma asked pointing over to Sabrina.

"It sure is. Would you like to meet your sister?" Sabrina asked.

"Yes!" Emma said excitedly as Patrick led her over to the bed.

Patrick sat down on the bed next to Sabrina and pulled Emma up on to his lap. "Emma, I'd like you to meet your sister," Patrick said with a smile.

"She's so pretty! And tiny!" Emma said causing the room to laugh.

"You were that tiny once too," Patrick said with a smile.

"Did you decide on a name yet?" Emma asked.

"We have…." Patrick said looking at Sabrina.

"Well what is it?" Emma asked.

"Emma, we'd like to introduce you to your sister, Sofia Elizabeth Drake," Patrick said.

"Oh, that's such a pretty name. I like it!"

"Well that's good! I'm glad it has the Emma stamp of approval," Sabrina said. "Would you like to hold your sister?"

"Yes!"

"Okay, why don't you sit here on the bed," Patrick said standing up with Emma and putting her on the bed near Sabrina.

"Okay, make sure you hold her head," Sabrina said as she handed Sofia off to Emma helping her hold her sister.

"She's so cute," Emma said looking up at Sabrina.

"I agree," Sabrina said with a smile.

"Hi Sofia, I'm your big sister Emma. I am so excited to have a little sister. You and me are going to have a lot of fun together!" Emma said and then leaned down to kiss her sister's head.

"I think you're going to make an awesome big sister," Sabrina said.

"Thanks Sabrina! When do you guys get to come home?"

"Probably in a couple days, so you'll stay with Mommy for a bit longer, okay?" Sabrina asked looking up at Robin who was talking to Patrick.

"Yeah, I can't wait for you guys to come home though."

"Me either," Sabrina said.

"All right, Emma. Let's go home and work on your homework," Robin said coming over to the bed. "Congratulations, Sabrina. She is truly adorable."

"Thank you, Robin."

"Do we have to go Mommy?"

"Yes, you will have plenty of time with your sister. But right now, Daddy and Sabrina need some time alone with her."

"Okay," Emma said as Sabrina took Sofia back into her own arms. "Bye Sofia," Emma said kissing her head. "Bye Sabrina!"

"Bye Sweetie," Sabrina said kissing Emma's forehead. "You're going to come visit tomorrow, right?"

"Definitely," Emma said.

"Good. I love you."

"I love you, too Sabrina."

"All right, go say bye to Daddy."

"Bye Daddy!" Emma said giving her father a hug.

"Bye Felix!"

"Bye Miss Emma!" Felix said waving at her. "I'm going to head out as well, leave you guys alone."

"Thanks for coming to visit Fe!"

"My pleasure. I'll be back tomorrow."

"Sounds good," Sabrina said settling into the bed with her daughter as Patrick joined her as Felix left. "I still can't believe she is ours."

"I know what you mean. Now there is only one thing left to do."

"What's that?" Sabrina asked.

"Get married. I can't wait until you're my wife."

"I like the sound of that."

"Me too!" Patrick said leaning in to kiss Sabrina when he was interrupted by a knock on the door.

"I just wanted to check in before I head home," Elizabeth said entering the room.

"I think we're all set," Patrick said looking at Sabrina.

"But we would like to officially introduce you to our daughter. Elizabeth, we'd like you to meet Sofia Elizabeth Drake."

"Sofia Elizabeth?"

"Yes, after one of our best friends and biggest supporters." Patrick said.

"You guys, that is so sweet. I am honored," Elizabeth said going over to hug her friends. "All right, I am going home. But I'm back on first shift tomorrow, so I'll be sure to check in."

"Thank you!" Sabrina said.

After Elizabeth left, Patrick looked back at Sabrina. "Now where was I?"

"I think you were right about here," Sabrina said leaning in to kiss Patrick.

After pulling away, Patrick wrapped one arm around Sabrina who settled up against him with their daughter in her arms. He kissed her forehead, feeling blessed.
