Chapter 37

Allen and her family walked out to the main hall. She saw Lenalee run to Lavi and he picked her up and twirled her before kissing her passionately. Allen walked down and smiled at the lovebirds. "Lavi, do you know where Kanda is?" She asked.

Lavi looked at Lenalee and looked back at me with a solemn expression. "Allen, you need to come with me."

Confused, Allen and the kids walked with Lavi. "Where are you taking us?"

Lavi held a finger to his lips when they walked into the cathedral part of the Order.

Allen looked over the banister to see hundreds of coffins.

Lavi led them down the staircase and to the front of the room where two coffins laid with exorcist tapestries draped over them.

Allen's eyes teared up. What was Lavi saying?

Lavi stopped before the coffin on the right and bowed his head.

Sudden realization hit Allen hard. "Oh God!" Allen covered her mouth in surprise, hope fleeing her body. She fell to her knees. "Please, no…" Tears ran down her face.

"Please Lavi, tell me it's not true." Allen begged tugging on his pants leg. "Tell me that my husband is alive."

Lavi got down on his knees and hugged her. "I'm sorry. I wish I could Allen."

Allen cried into Lavi's scarf. "Please! Not Kanda! No!"

Lavi stroked Allen's white hair. "I'm so sorry Allen. We killed the twin Noahs and were heading home. He was fine, he only had a few cuts and bruises, but as they healed… He started having what looked like epileptic seizures. His heart stopped and… Allen, I'm sorry." His single green eye was pouring tears, remembering his best friend.

Allen shook her head. "It's not your fault."

Alexander's eyes teared up as he watched his mother.

Yuki looked up at Alex. "Why is Mommy crying?"

"Nothing. Mom just learned that Dad won't be home for a while."

"Why isn't he coming home to us and Mommy?"

"Daddy won't be home for a long time." Alex said.

"But why?" Yuki insisted.

Alex shook his head.

"Can I see him?" Allen asked Lavi.

He nodded.

Lenalee walked up and took the kids with her. They didn't need to be around all the death in the room.

Lavi opened Kanda's casket.

Kanda looked like he was merely sleeping.

Tears fell down Allen's cheeks. She walked over to his casket and kneeled down. She held his hand, it was so cold. "Kanda… you left too soon." She kissed her love's hand. "I love you." She gently kissed his cold lips.

Komui took his hat off and slowly approached me. "Allen. We are going to start the funeral in an hour."

"Komui, I killed the Earl. Please, can we bury my husband? I want him to have a grave so I can remember him."

Komui nodded. "Of course, we can."

"Thank you." She whipped her eyes and stood.

"Go and get dressed, take your time. We need time to prepare his body."

Allen kissed her husband and walked out. She walked to her room and got changed; her heart was breaking with every single little picture, clothes, and other things. She slid on a black dress and sat on the bed. She looked at her nightstand and picked up their only family photo.

Allen was sitting and holding the twins, as babies. Kanda was standing beside her with Alex in front of him.

Allen set the picture down and picked up another.

Kanda was holding her while she was pregnant with the twins, while Alex sat on Kanda's shoulders.

The final picture was of their first anniversary when Kanda had given Allen the locket that supposedly contained Nolan's innocence.

Allen set the pictures down and looked at her wedding ring. She was a widow; it hadn't dawned on her until now. She opened Kanda's nightstand drawer and pulled out Kanda's wedding ring on a necklace.

They left their wedding rings at home on a chain when they went out on missions, not wanting the enemy to know their relationship to use it against them, even though the enemy had already found out.

Allen held the ring close. She stood; it was time for the funeral. She grabbed her red ribbon that she use to wear as a neck tie as a male and tied it around her neck as a makeshift choker.

Lenalee came in and helped Allen get the kids dressed.

As they walked out, Allen never said a word.

Lenalee could see the pain in Allen's silver eyes. "Allen," Lenalee stopped Allen and looker her in the eyes. "I'm so sorry this happened. You and your family do not deserve this."

Tears ran down Allen's cheeks.

"You and Kanda, not only deserve the respect of the whole Order, but the whole world should show gratitude to you. You two saved them all."

"I know Lenalee." Allen looked at Kanda' s ring in her hands. "I just… I don't want to talk about that right now."

Lenalee nodded. "Of course. Please forgive me."

"I'm sorry, but I might miss a majority of your wedding."

Lenalee nodded. "I understand. You don't have to come at all, I will video tape it. Just do what you feel is right." She handed Allen some tissues.

Allen nodded. The Walker family walked in and all grew silent.

Lavi walked up and hugged Allen gently, showing her to their seats in the front.

Many other exorcists, scientists, and finders came to give Kanda's family their condolences.

Tiedoll walked up to Allen and kissed her cheek. "May I speak with you?"

Allen nodded and he sat down beside her.

He looked at Kanda's casket. "He had a good life."

Allen nodded.

"He use to hate everything, he would always grouch and grumble every day, until one day. That was the day he started seeing you. He fell in love, head over heels for you."

Allen smiled a sad smile.

"He fell in love and got married to the woman of his dreams, he even had kids. He made a family that was very close and dear to his heart. I think he died with a smile on his face."

Allen's eyes watered.

"I am pretty sure that his only regret in this world was not living long enough to see his family grow up."

Tears fell down Allen's cheeks.

"He would've loved to see Nolan going through puberty, threaten Yuki's first boyfriend, and teach Alex how to drink sake. He would also have loved to see you catch up to the color of your hair."

"I just wish…" He voice cracked and tears fell down her face.

"He loved you and your kids."

Allen nodded. "Thank you."

The funeral started and lasted only 30 minutes. Everyone said their goodbyes before Allen and her family stood.

Yuki and Nolan were so confused when they saw Kanda. "Mommy I thought Daddy had to go away for work? Why is Daddy sleeping?"

Alex had tears falling down his cheeks. He hugged his mother around the waist burying his face into her stomach.

Allen held him, stroking his dark wavy brown hair. When he let go, she walked over and looked at her love. She slid Kanda' s wedding band onto his finger. She untied the chocker ribbon and tired up her husband's hair tie. He use to love stealing her neck tie ribbon when she had been a guy. She kissed his cheek and backed up.

Kanda was taken out and buried.

Allen left the kids with Miranda and Allen went to her room for the night. She needed to be alone, she felt bad for missing Lenalee's and Lavi's wedding, but she had other things that she need to deal with. She laid down on her bed and broke down into tears. It felt like her whole heart had been ripped out of her chest and she didn't know how to even begin to try to fix it.
