Chapter 36
The Happy Ending
Ally's POV
Life was great again. Now that my dad and Chelsea are gone, I have no more worries. Hazel's death hasn't bothered me that much anymore. I still feel sad when I think about it but Ive learned to stop living in the past. It's long gone. This is the present and I should be living in it and making new memories. So I am. Tonight was as Austin put it, 'One of the best nights I will experience'. I don't know what he meant by that. But Im sensing some romantic dinner and he is gonna get me something expensive. He's such a romantic guy, you know?
Anyways, Trish and Jace have been going strong for a while. I wonder how long it will be until they get married. Dez and Carrie have been strong too. It's so cute and they are perfect for each other. Austin and I have been obviously strong too. There isn't one day we don't say I love you at least fifty times a day. I love him so much and I don't want to lose him.
"Ready for our date?" he asks. I nod. He holds his hand out and I gladly take it. He opens the door to the car and I get in. He's a gentlemen too. He drives me somewhere I don't know where because he blindfolded me. One of the things I hate more about surprises. Finally we get to our destination. He opens the door and helps me to carefully get out of the car. He helps me walk somewhere and up a lot of stairs. Where in the world is he taking me?
Finally he stops. He takes my blindfold off.
"I knew it!"
"Knew what?"
"You were gonna take me to a romantic dinner."
"How did you know?"
"You are very predictable and cheesy." I fold my arms and smile.
"That's true but this dinner is different."
"Right." I roll my eyes.
"Let me do my thing and come on." he takes my hand and leads me to the table.
"Candles and fancy music playing. Told you it was cheesy."
"Shut up. You're ruining my nice gesture." he glares. I giggle and see the food. A stake, mash potatoes, wine, and just for me, some pickles. I smile and we dig in.
"Thank you." I say half way through eating all my food. He smiles and nods. "I can't believe all the shenanigans we've been through. You've been staying by my side even when I didn't want you to. I love you so much and I don't ever want to lose you again. You mean so much to me and I-I can't even..." I feel tears in my eyes. Why am I gonna start crying? His eye's widens and he chokes on his pancakes.
"Don't cry." he gets up and goes over to me. He starts to wipe the tears that have fell. "Not yet, at least." he mumbles. I frown.
"What do you mean by that?"
"I have more surprises."
"Of coarse you do." I smile.
"First surprise. This." he gets something from his bag. It's wrapped. I take it and start to unwrap. My eyes widen as I see it's a diamond necklace and the cute thing is that the diamond is inside the music note.
"Oh my god, Austin! I love it." I smile and he takes it putting it around my neck.
"Second surprise." he takes something out again. It's a corn dog. I raise an eyebrow and chuckle.
"A corn dog?"
"Yup." he smiles cheekily. My eyes widen and I gasp. A corn dog!
I tap my head with my pencil. I try to think of a way to finish a song Ive been working on. Double Take was the name of the song. Let's see... Im gonna make, make, make you do a double take... Hmm... Seems good. I smile and write it down. I then think of the melody. I hum some melodies but they don't come out so good. I keep thinking until I hear loud drums from across the store. I look over and see a blonde playing it. I walk over there fast and whistle to him. This catches his attention and his hazel eyes meet mine.
"Um, did you not see the 'Please Do Not Play The Drums' sign?" I ask and point to the drums. He looks at it and smiles at me.
"That's okay. Im an awesome drummer." he simply says and then goes back to playing the drums. I stop him again.
"What you just said has nothing to do with what I just said. And are those corn dogs?" I point and raise an eyebrow. He nods and takes a big bite out of one. What. The. Heck. What kind of person plays the drum with corn dogs? This definitely wasn't going to be a normal guy. He was oddly different. Something about this guy made me think that he was going to be someone special. I shook off the thought and began telling him the rules and how unsanitary and unhealthy eating corn dogs off of drums were. Yup, he was special alright.
Tears are coming again. "You were playing drums with corn dogs that day we first met. I was writing in my songbook and you played the drums and I scolded you," I laugh. "I can still remember what we both said. 'That's okay Im an awesome drummer'?" I laugh again. He smiles.
"That was the day when I saw your face and my soul said 'There you are, Ive been looking for you.' And I found you." he's gonna start to cry too. He puts the corn dogs on the plate and goes on one knee taking a little velvet box out.
"Third and last surprise." he says. He opens it and there was the beautiful ring. By now, I was turning into a big puddle of water. My hand flew to my mouth as I began to sob. Austin smiled and tears were flowing down and he didn't even care how unmanly it was. I couldn't stop smiling and grinning.
"Allyson Marie Dawson, I love you. We both know that by now. Ive been in love with you since the day I met you. Our first impression wasn't the best but it was ours. Our relationship wasn't the strongest at first either but it's ours too. I wouldn't change anything for the world. You've helped me become who I was meant to be and who even knows what would have happened if I had gave up on my dream when my dad said it was a waste of time. You know everything about me and even things I didn't want you to know. You probably should have knocked that time you barged in my room by the way." he says making me blush.
"You should have locked your door." I defended myself.
"Shush, you're ruining my speech and proposal... Anyways, where was I?... Oh yea! Okay." he clears his throat and I giggle. "All the crazy adventures we've been in, from trying to raise money for all the instruments you gave away to Nelson's school band room-" I was about to defend myself again but he put his finger on my lip shushing me again. I glare at him. "Alls, Im trying to give you a proposal here. Anyways..." I roll my eyes again. "From trying to escape from 'Big Mama', from trying to get a record deal, from trying to-"
"This can go on forever." I point out.
"Im trying here. You know Im not good at giving speeches. And I don't even know how to explain why I want to spend the rest of my life with you. There is no words to explain it. It's more than love. If that's even possible. I want to see us together for as long as we live. I want to have a family with you. I want to share everything with you. I want to see us grow old together. I want to love you. If you'd let me, I would do it all for you. Will you marry me por favor?" he says out of breath. I giggle and nod fast. He grins.
"Yes. Yes, I would love to marry you!" he puts the ring on my finger and grabs my hand helping me stand up. He gives me a passionate kiss on the lips and we rest our foreheads on each other's. And just like that we slow dance to the music. This may be cheesy but I still love it. He starts to softly sing a song.
I'm, I'm good at wasting time,
I think lyrics need to rhyme,
And you're not asking,
But I'm trying to grow a mustache.
I eat cheese, but only on pizza, please,
And, sometimes, on a homemade quesadilla.
Otherwise it smells like feet to me.
And I, I really like you when the moon looks like a toe nail.
And I love you when you say my name.
If you wanna know, here it goes.
Gonna tell you there's a part of me that shows,
If we're close, gonna let you see everything,
But remember that you asked for it.
I'll try to do my best to impress,
But it's easier to let you take a guess, at the rest,
But you wanna hear what lives in my brain, my heart,
Well, you asked for it,
For your perusing,
At times confusing,
Slightly amusing...
Introducing me!
Do do do do do do,
Do do do do do do.
La da da da,
La da da da da da da, da.
I never trust a dog to watch my food.
And I like to use the word 'dude'
As a noun, or an adverb, or an adjective
And I, I never really been into cars.
I like really cool guitars
And superheroes
And checks with lots of zeroes on 'em.
I love the sound of violins and making someone smile...
If you wanna know, here it goes.
Gonna tell you there's a part of me that shows,
If we're close, gonna let you see everything,
But remember that you asked for it.
I'll try to do my best to impress,
But it's easier to let you take a guess, at the rest,
But you wanna hear what lives in my brain, my heart,
Well, you asked for it,
For your perusing,
At times confusing,
Possibly amusing...
Introducing me!
Well, you probably know more than you ever wanted to,
So be careful when you ask next time.
So, if you wanna know, here it goes.
Gonna tell you there's a part of me that shows,
If we're close, gonna let you see everything,
But remember that you asked for it.
I'll try to do my best to impress,
But it's easier to let you take a guess, at the rest,
But you wanna hear what lives in my brain, my heart,
Well, you asked for it,
For your perusing,
At times confusing,
Hopefully amusing...
Introducing me!
Do do do do do do,
Do do do do do do.
Do do do do...
Introducing me!
I giggle. "I love you." I mumble.
"And I love you from the moon and back."
"Are you done?" I raise an eyebrow.
He shakes his head. "Not quite. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he takes a deep breath. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Calm down, she only put lipstick one. Wait till you get to the mascara and eyeliner." I warn. He's about to scream again but I kiss him shutting him up. He kisses back by rapping his arms around me. "Now shut it and go back to that room so she can finish." I push him and he groans.
"MOM! TELL DAD TO COME OR I WILL ADD MORE BLUSH!" I hear my daughter yell.
"Im going." Austin mumbles. I giggle.
That was Alicia. Our oldest daughter. She's putting makeup on Austin to see how it would look like on her. She already used my face and now she is using Austin's. Our second oldest is Audion. And our youngest is Auggy. We are a pretty crazy family I would say. But also a happy one.
After an hour, Austin comes out of Alicia's room. I laugh my heart out. She added the tutu as well.
"Smile." I say then take a picture on the phone. "Oh! That should be some lyrics!" I grab my songbook and write in it.
Let me take your picture baby,
Ill save it for a rainy day
And I also write in 'I wanna see you smile' because it sounds like a good lyric. Austin glares at me and takes my songbook away. I go into Ally Ninja Mode. I karate kick the book out of his hands and catch it. He gapes at me.
"Was that Ally Ninja?"
"Yup, beware."
"I will." he mutters.
"You look great."
"Haha." he glares.
"Love you too, Aus." I do a heart using my hands. Then he tickles me. I giggle nonstop. I swat his hand away. "You know I don't like to be tickled!"
"Love you too, Alls." he smiles innocently. I glare at him. "Hey, you know what today is?"
"Annoy Ally day?"
"Nope, even better! Our anniversary!" he cheers. I smile.
"You remembered."
"Of coarse. It's our day. How could I forget? Plus I got you something." He takes out a album. I grab it and look through the pictures. I grin.
"Aww." I wrap my arms around him and kiss him. He gladly returns it.
"I don't want another brother." Alicia says. We glare at her.
"Or another Alicia." Audion comments. We turn to glare at him too.
"Too bad." Austin sticks his tongue at them.
"Cover your ears at night, Auggy." Audion warns. Auggy just looks at him.
"Audion!" I scold. He shrugs.
"You probably should." Austin shrugs too.
"AUSTIN!" I smack his shoulder. He pouts. "Can you all leave? I need to have a little chat with your father."
"Ooooh, you're in trouble." Audion says but shuts up when Austin glares at him. Once they all leave, I turn to Austin.
"Happy Anniversary." I smile.
"Happy Anniversary." he smiles back. I lean in making him lean in but I turn around and walk downstairs. "Oh no you don't." he pulls me back and carries me bridal style upstairs again.
"You are so..." I can't think of a word to even start with.
"Amazing. Charming. Witty. Irresistible. I know."
"I was going to say cocky. But sure. That too."
"You love it."
"Yes I do."
I kiss him and I guess that's our story. Two kids with a dream and working together and forming a friendship and then something more. We ended up breaking up but then getting back together. He cheated on me, but he had a reason to. It doesn't matter now. Ive moved on from that. I guess you could call me, Miss Movin' On...
