Chapter 37: Tower to Town

It took two months. Tony's money sped things up and the move happened just before school began again. Exactly as planned the Romanoff-Barton's and Starks kept their things in the tower. Everyone else packed up and moved to the new was more of a town then a facility.

There was the main building where Steve ran training, Jane and Bruce did reasearch and the others hung out. There were shooting ranges, which were of good use for Natasha, Bucky and Sam. An Archery range was right nearby which Kate and Clint had claim on when they were their for the weekends. Around the training area was a track for Pietro. Also there was an armory where new bows and arrows were made, guns were stored, energy weapons and half of Tony's suits were all kept. Next to that was the area where all their suits were held in cases ready to be used for missions. Tony had gotten back ups on backups. On top of that all was the helipad, landing area for the quinjet, a place for the Ironman and War Machine suits to land and come off and a place for the flyers to take off and practice.

Several of the new houses surrounding that all were occupied. Harley, Pepper and Tony took one of the larger ones on weekends. They also kept a room for Peter who switched between that one and the house right next door, belonging to Clint, Natasha and Kate. These two houses were only ever occupied on vacations or weekends. Tony had let Pepper and Natasha design them all as they wished.

In fact all the houses were designed by the occupants. Across the road from the Romanoff-Barton's and Pott-Stark-Keeners was the house belonging to Vision, Pietro, Wanda and Darcy. Each got their own room to be decorated as they wished. None of them had a problem bunking together and found it quite enjoyable. Darcy was able to run the facility and PR from there (that was her new job.)

Steve kept house right next to Clint, Natasha and Kate. His house was a navy blue, with a white door and a red roof. He and Bucky shared the house, much to Sam's disappointment. He himself was living in a modern gray house with Rhodey. Both were working for the army again, Sam as a therapist and consultant and Rhodey flying more missions. Their house was occupied less than Tony and Pepper's who were right next door.

Bruce was living by himself for now next to Thor and Jane. He was afraid of destroying the house and injuring anyone which no one else was scared of. Thor lived with Jane in the last house but they assured everyone it would probably be temporary. They would be going back to Asgard as soon as Odin was found.

The houses all had extra rooms, a place for laundry, a kitchen and several bathrooms. It was homey but luxiorious and fitted to the taste of the occupant.

Because they were still in the tower Natasha and Clint had taken on new jobs to keep themselves busy during the week. Both were working for SI, Clint had become head of security and Natasha was Pepper's personal bodyguard. It was pretty much an excuse for Tony to pay them both.

The move was not hard to adjust too for Kate and Harley either. Harley had been excited to get back to school again and see his friends. He had missed Kamala, Alex and Miles over the summer. Kate had started school and though she was aa bit grumpy and acted like Natasha on better days, she made friends. Ava Ayala and Alex Power's younger sister Julie became fast friends.

Together they all drove up to the facility almost every weekend. It worked well and the Avengers were becoming better than ever. Tony was still researching possible recruits, which included looking at files from what was once S.H.I.E.L.D. The most he did find was hearing about the Devil of Hell's kitchen, a cyborg man, superb agents called the Cavalry and Mockingbird. There were no leads he could follow far besides one he found of his dad's from the Cold War. It was about a retired hero called the Antman and his partner Wasp. Both would have been old now and Tony had no hope of finding them.

He didn't find them, they found him. Sam was attacked after a flight training session with Rhodey and Vision. A shrinking man had appeared and taken down Sam several times. He ad broken into one of the facility's buildings and stolen something. Tony's silent alarms had alerted him and he immediatley called Steve.

"What happened?"

"Sam was attacked. There was this man that kept shrinking then growing back to normal size, said he called himself..."

"Antman. He's still alive? After the cold war he retired, unless?"

"Wait. You know who this guy is Tony?"

"Not was a cold war hero no one knew about besides S.H.I.E.L.D and Dad. He was a shrinking man called the Antman who could also control ants. I don't know much more besides he started getting old then something happened and he decided to retire. I'll start looking, if this guy was telling the truth and is only trying to save the world he might be a good recruit."

"Sam definitley won't be happy with that. Bucky will find it hilarious though. He's still laughing at Sam right now."

Tony rolled his eyes. Sam and Bucky were like two girls fighting over a pair of shoes, the pair of shoes being Steve. Steve however was oblivious to it. Tony and the others found it hilarious. They often had fun goading the others on by saying things that one did to one up the other.

"Good luck with that Steve. I'm going to start looking into this. I'll see you this weekend."
