Chapter Twenty Five: Purity and Impurity, Hand in Hand
"I don't get why you teach him! You said it yourself, hes nothing but corruption! Hes the enemy!" The voice of a young female shouts, followed by an echoing slap. Darkness, and yet bright void all around a women with gentle blue hair. "That is enough! Hes your brother, your other half. The things I have been teaching you… without him your only half the guardian you can be. Your lives put mine at risk, I broke this law for the future of everyone… without him, the world could very well end." An older, more mature female voice calls out, stern yet loving. "But he can't even use his magic right! He fails every time and you see how he is! He cares not for anything you teach him!" The young voice says again. "He cares more than you know, Corruption is doubt-filled. We are of a race of people who… shouldn't exist in this world." The older female replies, a tone of sadness. "A selfish desire is the reason we exist, but it will be the reason we thrive as well. Corruption has been nothing more than a false lie, and yet every night I learn more of our history, our lives… and what is to come. Lies have been threaded through our existance and yet the one who created them can not see everything. Listen my child… my little star light. You will lead a life, where in the end everything you learned in it, was a lie to give a sense of justice, safety, and direct. I will not be there, but two people whose sense of right and wrong are on a real level of the things around them will be. These two will be the people you and your brother will need to protect, to serve, for in the glory of their leadership you will find true life. I believe this is the closest anyone has ever gotten to giving you guardians the ability to finally live free and have your own life. To be reborn as people who can stand watch for generations and protect those who need it." The older voice says as things feel… tense. "But..." The young voice sounded sad and confused. "My little Lunar star… trust me, the last living oracle of Sio'ta. Our people, need you and your brother to thrive and help the humans, the monsters. All of them, bound to an endless cycle of suffering because of a selfish desire." The mature voice says as things felt calm and then…bright.
"Aunt Leina…" The boy gave a sigh before walking up to her and gave her a nudge. "You overslept again, Grandpa wants to talk to you." He says while nudging her more. Leina slowly opens her eyes before peeking to the boy.
"What time is it…?" She asks groaning, slowly sitting up.
"Twelve thirty. Gramps said you were supposed to meet with him four hours ago." Leina scratches her head before sighing.
"Crap, yeah… he wanted me to be up before Nana arrived today to talk about some stuff, and about some plans for the next few weeks." Leina says looking at the boy. "Everyday, your appearance changes more and more Mazerin..." Leina says with a smile. 'Mazerin' smiles with a light chuckle.
"Can't go on looking abnormal forever right? Still though, I wish you'd stop calling me by that name. I told you it don't feel right, even if dad gave it to me. I would like you to use the name Marin." He says, Leina gives a chuckle.
"Alright, alright… your gonna explain to Frisk and Asriel why you changed your name though." The boy nods before turning to leave.
"Food is in the kitchen, Grandma just came over and made food for us when she came to tell you that Grandpa is looking for ya." He says before taking his leave and closing the door. Leina looks to the window with a frown.
'What was that dream… that little girl's voice… was it.. me?' She shakes her head before climbing out of bed, dressed in a light shirt and loose pajama pants. 'Couldn't be… she was too mean, angry sounding. And I don't have a brother. But the voices both talked about corruption...' She gives a sigh before she digs through her dresser finding some clothes to wear and then heading off the opposite direction towards an open door leading into a personal bathroom.
City of Henia"Come on, we need to go check on our guest." Frisk's voice calls out from downstairs. She stands in the main room waiting on Asriel and Chara to come down so they can visit their new guest over with Alphys and Undyne. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she was wearing a purple shirt with three pink stripes, with a pair of blue jeans. Asriel was the first to come down, his fur damp slightly revealing he had just gotten out of the shower. He was wearing a green shirt with a single yellow stripe and a pair of blue jeans. He tugs at the shirt some with a smirk before looking at Frisk.
"Blast from the past eh?" Frisk could only smile with a nod.
"Ugh, a past I want to forget..." Chara's voice calls from behind Asriel, who turns around to see his younger brother in shirt similar to both Frisk and his shirt, green with three yellow stripes. And a pair of brown jeans. "Do we really need to do this?" Frisk gives a chuckle before looking up to Chara at the top of the stairs.
"Come on Chara, our past is where we started, it help define who we are today." Chara sighs while a stifle chuckle came from behind him. A magenta eyed girl with a blue loose fitting shirt and a pair of baggy jeans was standing there looking at the two brothers.
"I find it amusing that Chara when he fell happen to have a shirt so similar to Asriel's upon their first meeting." Maire was smirking at both Asriel and Chara, the latter whom rolls his eyes with annoyance.
"Please drop it… it was a coincidence." Maire gives a gentle laugh before she pushes through and goes down the stairs.
"Yeah yeah, anyways we going to meet an enemy turned friend?" Frisk gives an indifferent look at her for her choice of words.
"I would say possible ally, but we can never tell." Frisk says, a scoff from the stairs to see Chara look at her.
"Now you act like this could back fire." Frisk rolls her eyes.
"I don't want to hear it from you. Faras Chains." Chara's eyes widen, he chokes on his spit slightly. Maire from downstairs could see a slight sting of betrayal in Chara's eyes.
"YOU REMEMBER THAT STILL?!" Asriel gently punched Chara's shoulder.
"You pushed Frisk and caused my leg to get broke." Chara coughs again before he clears his throat.
"I… Lets go. Please? I don't wanna talk about that..." He says, his voice seemed cracked. Frisk looks at Chara with a questionable look on her face, she goes to open her mouth as suddenly Maire speaks out.
"Sure, lets get going. We got lots to do today don't we?" She says before she takes Frisk's hand dragging her out.
"H-Hey!" Frisk calls out, Asriel chuckles with a smile before walking down the stairs. Chara's hand shakes watching him, a stinging pain in his chest as he watches Asriel go down the stairs.
"Now you know how I felt when you dragged me Frisk, back in the underground!" Asriel calls out following suit.
"Sorry." Chara quietly mumbles, his teeth clench. "I never..." Chara's whole body was shaking at the top of the steps, he jumps suddenly to feel a cool hand place against his shoulder. Looking to his side, he saw Sans standing there. He felt an odd delay to his movement before he jumped again realizing who it was, nearly falling off the stairs. Thankfully Sans caught him and smiles at him before helping him get steady on his feet. The Skeleton give Chara a moment before he speaks, sliding his hands into his black jacket.
"Easy kiddo, she meant nothing by it." San says casually meanwhile Chara holds his chest, breathing hard.
"D-Do you have to scare me to tell me that?!" Chara replies, fear in his eyes.
"Eh, Asriel hates it too, but its funny." The skeleton shrugs with a smile.
"Sans… fuck you." Chara quietly says before running down the stairs, turning into his dragon monster form along the way before he exited the house. Said skeleton chuckles before walking down the stairs after the group. Outside Frisk was dodging Maire who was leaping after her, Frisk was holding a cellular device.
"Give it back damn it!" Maire calls out as she goes at Frisk with a glare of anger.
"What, Afraid of what naughty messages I may find… do you have some naughty images you sent to Chara?" Frisk replies from her spot, as Maire leaps again at her.
"What in the…." Chara stares at the scene before them, while Asriel was smiling at the scene before them.
"Well they are getting along, that is good." Asriel says, Chara turns to him with a questioning look upon his face.
"...Do I even want to know why Frisk is messing with her?" Asriel shrugs. He watches with amusement, looking at the two girls.
"She snagged her phone while Maire was distracted pulling Frisk outside. Then… this? Don't get me lying on the truth, but its sorta amusing… the two people we care about right before us just giving each other a hard time." Asriel says, Chara gives a smile watching the two.
"Yeah." He starts, a tingle of worry grows in his chest. "Asriel…" Asriel turns to Chara with a curious glance.
"Whats up?" Asriel replies, Chara held a distant worry in his eyes while looking at at Maire.
"… Should I even involve myself with her? I mean, shes…" Chara sighs and shakes his head. "Shes human, we are Sio'ta… I'm worried to get to close, her life is finite days." Asriel's eyes widen before glancing to Maire, she was still distracted with Frisk. He turns back to get eye level with Chara turning him to him.
"Chara, I… I know what you mean. I had a same fear with Frisk, but I took it… it was before we knew she was Sio'ta, even longer before we learned we can live longer than anything… it was part of the doubt you used against me remember?" Chara nods, he recalls the few droplets of doubt Asriel had when he turned them against each other. Chara and Asriel both look to their right hands, clenching them into fists.
"I… I made you hurt her… I tried to kill her right there, and..." Chara's fist shakes, slowly he unfurls it, though the shaking doesn't stop. "Why do I keep hurting my family..." Asriel takes his right hand still curled into a fist and gently places it into Chara's hand.
"You were lost, scared, and jealous… So don't worry you have us all now, and we won't abandon you." Chara's eyes widen. "We may tease you, and bring up memories at times, but we don't do it to hurt you, we do it with a smile, as it was these memories that brought us together." Chara's eyes widen, his hand slowly stops shaking. Looking up at Asriel's face, his eyes still locked onto his fist in Chara's hand. He closes his hand around Asriel's fist and nods his head.
"Right… never again. I gotta protect you both… no wait.. not just you two, but everyone." Asriel smiles and gives a nod, Chara despite having a mature side, he knew Chara was still a child at heart, a younger brother who wanted to protect his older brother when he got older, and everyone else.
"You will, just no more risky moves alright? We need you here, with us." Asriel says, Chara gives a nod as the two break out of their moment to look up to see Frisk and Maire staring at them.
"You two done with your little brotherly moment? We got shit to do." Maire calls out with an annoyed tone, Frisk smiling as she waves her hand back and forth in front of her face.
"Don't worry bout her, If you need more time take it. Brotherly moments should last." Maire snaps at Frisk with a glare.
"The hell is with you, your too cheery today!" Frisk just smiles as she stands straight.
"I had a dream." Everyone blinks at her as if she was crazy, Frisk stands there smiling, she looks up to the sky. "I saw everyone, everyone who would stand beside us in the coming days, there were new people there, and old faces as well. But most of all, everyone was there. No one was missing, everyone was standing strong… and right up there next to me and Asriel was Leina and another man, I recall some stuff that was explained to me about Leina, and I remember that Heltin is her other half. Even if he turns, we need his help. He is a piece of this war we will fight, and to win we need him." Frisk says, her eyes hopeful and full of energy. Asriel sighs before standing up and walking up next to her.
"Jeeze, well you heard Frisk. She believes in this so, its a crazy possibility. Come on you two, lets get going before Frisk goes on another crazy sounding story." Asriel says before walking off, Frisk turns on her heels and stares at Asriel.
"Hey! The hell do you mean?!" She calls out going after him. Chara blinks as he felt his mouth dug into a smile, he tried his hardest to stop himself from laughing. A chuckle started to echo from his lips before it bursts into a full blown laughter. He charges after the two, with Maire following behind him with a smile and a small laughter herself. Sans was quick to catch up to the group his own eyes watching with amusement before him, he shakes his head with amusement to how Frisk and Asriel will never change.
"Its good to see they havn't changed much." Sans says, causing Maire and Chara to glance back at him while they travel towards Alphys and Undyne's home. Chara nods while Maire tilts her head.
"Huh? They were always like this?" Sans shakes his head before looking at Maire.
"Not exactly. But they have always been like this, Frisk was always energetic and bubbly believe it or not, even as a child who was stuck in a world filled with people trying to kill her, never once did I see that dampen her spirit and energy. She would push on through each day like it was the only thing she could do. Most would have either tried to hide, run, or give in and let the end come. Not Frisk though, she managed to even talk down Undyne back then and that was the single most impressive feat she did as a child in my eyes. Chara scoffs as he glances back at Sans.
"Sorry, but you didn't see their fight. That was crazy and impressive. Asriel hit her with an attack she could not dodge, a deadly one at that. She didn't budge, her 'HP' went down to the decimal point of a billionth. A single billionths! No one could live like that, everyone knows back then even if you dropped a bit under tenths of a hit-point you would die, but she didn't." Chara says as he turns his head back and smiles at the scene before him. Frisk and Asriel were now walking side by side, their hands interlocked. Frisk was leaning her head over onto Asriel with a happy bounce to her step.
"Anyways; Yeah they haven't changed a bit where it matters. Asriel is still the soft hearted goat he will always be. Hes gotten more courageous and brave. He stands up for himself more and no longer a scared monster of doing something that could harm someone… but he needed that to beable to protect the ones he loves. Same goes with Frisk, she no longer is forbidding herself to the naive though that everything can be talked out, she is the sweetest, most loving person you could ever ask for as a friend or a partner, but even so she knows that its no longer the time to hold back and that this world is much darker than she originally saw it as." Sans nods as Maire was staring at Chara now, her eyes staring at him widely.
"You really look up to them don't you?" Maire asks, her voice filled with awe. Chara just gives a satisfied nod, Sans's smile turns to a smirk as he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a cigar before he brings it to his mouth. He takes his other hand and places it around the far end of the cigar, upon removing his hand it was lit with an orange embers. Inhaling causing it to glow brightly before he exhales the smoke above the group to not blow smoke into their faces.
"We all do kid, To be honest if it wasn't for those two who knows where we would be, still stuck in a mountain I bet, or we'd be in a war with humans instead. I'll take fighting a small powerful group with magic, over an almost infinite number of humans with more dangerous weapons than magic. Human war devices like these 'Tanks' and 'Bombs' are more trouble than we can handle, besides with the help of monsters we might could later on change the world and put better technology to use for advancements, Like space flight." Sans says causing the two to glance at him before smiling and chuckling as the group presses on.
They soon arrived after their talk to their destination. Undyne was currently doing push ups with a rather sizeable boulder strapped to her back, it appeared to be around three feet in diameter. Maire was staring in fear at the amount of weight Undyne was pushing off the ground. Frisk smiles as she calls out, from the front of the group.
"Hey Undyne whats the count?!" She yells out to the blue amphibian monster, who glances up at the group with a shark like toothy smile.
"Two thousand four hundred fifty-nine. Current weight is fifteen hundred pounds!" She exclaims with excitement.
"Really training hard to actually get that body enhancement magic up there to your spear skill huh?" Frisk says as Undyne rolls onto her side and takes the boulder off her back. Undyne stretches her limbs before she jumps up and greets the group.
"You bet your ass brat. If we have to fight then we best be ready! Besides if I can reach a full ton of weight then I will be a force to be reckon with. Imagine a ton of force to fling a spear?! I could totally knock someone out of the sky like nothing with that!" Frisk rolls her eyes at Undyne's excitement to be training and having the chance to fight again.
"You miss the thrill of those days don't ya?" Undyne nods with a smile as she walks up and gives Frisk a big hug, whom returns it with a cheery smile.
"There isn't a day I don't, but if I can protect you guys then its more important than ever to grow stronger. I don't ever wanna see you or Asriel in the states we've seen you both in. I trust Sans and Papyrus to protect you, but even then I worry because I know our enemy isn't stupid." Undyne's voice was soft sounding as she holds onto Frisk. She lets go and looks Frisk in the eyes, having to look down slightly. "Don't take unnecessary risks Frisk, I know you want this… person to help us, but I don't trust him. I will trust your choice, but I can't help but remember that night what he did to Asgore and Egel… and then what he did to you." Undyne's voice now sounded scared, her eye was filled with worry as Frisk smiles at Undyne.
"I know. I'll do my best okay? But we all gotta work together for the future, one where we can live peacefully and never worry again about this." Undyne nods as she legs go and starts to walk to the house.
"Come on, no time to keep moping about!" Undyne's voice changes for a third time, this time authoritative. "Lets go see how the half-empty blood bank is doing." Undyne says calling Heltin a living blood bank after yesterday's events. Frisk and her group walks forth with Undyne as they enter the home. Alphys could be seen disposing of some bloodied bandages as they all walk in. Chara and Maire move in and close the door, soon after his form changes back as he stretches his limbs, Maire poking at him teasingly causing him to stare at her.
"Oh! Frisk, Asriel. Your here earlier than expected." Alphys says with excitement.
"Yeah, hope we aren't interrupting anything." Asriel says, Alphys shakes her head with a smile.
"Not at all, in fact perfect timing. The man, Heltin right? He just woke up a bit ago and I just changed his bandages. Hes in a much better state than yesterday. Though his memory is still… well lacking it seems. He wasn't very talkative, but did ask for you. I told him you would be coming over today he just nodded before he helped me change his bandages. A conscious patient is much easier to work with than a pain-filled unconscious one." Frisk looks at Alphys with a smile still on her face.
"Thanks Alphys. I appreicate you helping me and putting your trust in me." The yellow lizard just smiles and motions to the door.
"You can go in and see him now, I am going to fix some food, Undyne Its going to be non-magic baked, so our guest can eat alright?" Undyne sighs as she looks at Alphys.
"Awe come on, can't you make something special for me with magic? Normal human food takes too long for it to give you energy!" Alphys shakes her head.
"Not today, I can't spend two hours cooking food just cause you want a special meal, besides I cook for you most of the time your favorite meals you can accept once in a while breaks." Alphys says strictly causing Undyne ot sigh.
"Gotcha… Guess i'll take a break and relax then. No point in using up all my magic training if Im not gonna recharge instantly from breakfast." Undyne says with a groan before moving to the living room. Sans snickers as he and Chara look at each other.
"These two definitely have changed over the years." Chara says with a smirk as Sans nods with an agreement. He goes to take another puff of his cigar, only for a yellow hand to snatch it from him.
"What have I told you about smoking in my house Sans?!" Alphys says suddenly, taking on a more angry persona.
"Sorry Al, forgot about that." Sans chuckles as the short lizard glares up at him.
"Sorry won't work next time! You know its dangerous with the type of chemicals and magics I work with, you could set us up in flames or even cause it to turn toxic and poison us all!" Sans chuckles as he places his hands up in defense.
"G-Gotcha, now I best go watch over the kiddos, least they have any trouble with our guest." He says slipping away, Undyne snickering at him in the corner of his vision. He sighs before he looks up and sees his party of companions all smiling with amusement at him.
"That was amusing, the great Sans being told off by Alphys." Asriel says with a snicker. A small bone drops onto his head suddenly causing him to give a tiny yelp of surprise and hold his head where it hit. Sans stares at them with a look of annoyance. He slightly slumps while he looks at them.
"Very funny, laugh at my inability to fight back against my friends..." Sans says, giving them a glare. Frisk smiles and shakes her head.
"Its just interesting, everyone seems to have changed so much from when I first met them." Sans straightens up as Frisk talks. "I mean Alphys was always so afraid of doing anything that would upset people..." Alphys jumps a bit as a blush rises through her scaly face. "...Undyne has calmed down and become so caring instead of being head strong about everything. She still has her days, but shes much more active in doing everything she can for everyone and not just trying to free them from the underground." Undyne just smiles and leans back on the couch. Asriel turns to look at Sans with a large smile on his face.
"You and Papyrus have changed a lot too, everyone has. You used to be unsure about things, as if expecting Frisk to reset at any point." Sans glances away, the look of shame. Asriel smiles as he walks forwards placing his hand onto Sans's shoulder. "Its okay, I don't blame you for that. You and Papyrus have done so much, and to be honest… I still feel like I should have died that day." The room goes silent as Asriel speaks up, he glances around at everyone. "Yes, that day… the day I screwed everything up. I mean… If I wasn't so stupid, I would have…" Frisk walks up next to him and hugs onto him.
"I know Asriel. I never could hate you for what happen." Frisk hears him sigh as he smiles at her.
"I know, but I broke a promise that day. I promised to Sans I would protect you, I wouldn't ever make you regret saving me. And I did, even for a second I broke my promise. I feel like I should have died that day, but I am here still, and I am going to stay here until I do something and lose everything, but as long as I have you… I don't care where we go, who we fight, who we are with… its going to be for you, for everyone." Asriel replies as he pulls Frisk into a one arm hug, Sans smiles at them before nodding.
"Alright brats… lets do what we came here for. I think this is enough emotional bonding and visiting the past for one day." Sans says, causing a series of chuckles to echo forth. Frisk walks from Asriel, whom follows right after into the room where Heltin was in. The aforementioned man was sitting up looking outside the window across from him. He turns to look at Frisk and Asriel, his appearance now more flushed with color giving him a more rosy skin color, his burning orange eyes were softer and no longer showing a cloudy coloring to them.
"...Golden eyes… your eyes are just as I remember. Soft… caring…" Heltin spoke, his words were softer and now were clearer to understand. His voice was no where near as deep and didn't sound so forced like before. Frisk and Asriel walk in and take a seat across from him as Chara, Maire, and Sans, all walk in afterwards.
"You only remember me by my eyes?" Frisk asks as gives a slight nod before he looks up to the ceiling.
"Your eyes, match your personality. Soft, caring, full of love. All I knew is that you could help me… something told me that I could trust you even though the last time I saw you, I saw anger and rage." Frisk's eyes widen as she leans to Asriel.
"He only remembers when I lost it before him…" Asriel nods as he glances away, Heltin was very much, to soft spoken to be the same guy they fought.
"I did something bad then didn't I? The only other memories I recall is of my mother… telling me that I must always do the right thing." Frisk tilts her head.
"You… really don't remember a thing do you? Wow… I can't say that we were ever on good terms for sure though." Heltin frowns as he looks to the floor, his eyes slightly tear up at the corners as he tightens his grip of his hands together.
"So… I was a bad person. Sorry..." Chara was glaring at him with a glare, Heltin glances up at Chara who causes his eyes to widen.
"Y-You… I remember you…" He suddenly grits his teeth as his hand launches to his head. "T-That look, I… I did so much wrong to you… I… tried to manipulate you. Why? Why was I like this?" Chara's expression suddenly drops as this was concerning. Frisk turns to Maire as she motions for her to take Chara outside. Maire taking Chara's hand starts to drag him away.
"H-Hey what are you-" Maire shakes her head.
"Now… isn't a good time to meet him. We don't need things getting out of hand, consider this a small step of progress." Maire says, Chara sighs as he lets himself being led out of the room.
"You okay?" Frisk asks, Heltin takes a deep breath as the pain in his head subsides.
"Y-Yes… I, I just..." Frisk shakes her head.
"Don't worry. We can take this slowly. I want to know what happen with you, do you remember?" Heltin shakes his head.
"Not really… I remember pain, magical blades dug into my arms and legs, spiked chains that bound me… it all was draining my magic forcefully. All I heard before I was able to move was my mother's voice… she told me to find… golden eyes, then I remembered your eyes and made my way to find you." Frisk nods, Asriel sighs as he leans against his knees.
"Man… I figured we would learn more..." Heltin looks away, a look of shame on his face.
"Sorry." Frisk shakes her head.
"No, that is good that you were able to tell us that much. Its more than nothing, now this is the second time you mentioned 'Mother', who is that?" Frisk asks, causing the three to look at Heltin.
"I don't recall much of her… I remember her and..." His eyes widen he looks up as he glances to the window. "...my sister. I had a sister. She was called… Lunar Star. My mother called me 'Eclipse'." Asriel's eyes look at him confused.
"A sister… Frisk you don't think?" Asriel asks as he turns his head to Frisk, whom shakes her head.
"We don't know yet." Frisk sighs as she glances to Heltin's expression. It was surprised, it was seeking for an answer.
"Well, atleast we learned more of your past already. Something that you seemed even more surprised to learn than of the things you did previously." Heltin glances to Frisk and gives a gentle smile.
"Y-Yes… I forgot about Lunar Star… she was.. I don't recall but she was my sister. I do know that… perhaps I can find her one day if I live long enough to do so..." Frisk tilts her head.
"You act as if your on borrowed time..." Heltin looks away.
"I can feel… my life fading slowly. Its been slowed by the ancient treatments, but I am dying." Frisk's eyes widen, while Asriel and Sans felt a pit of guilt in their stomachs swell. Frisk nods before she stands up, Asriel follows suit as she begins to walk to the door.
"Well if you need me or remember anything let Alphys know to get me, she is the yellow scaled monster." Heltin nods as the three leave the room. Upon leaving Frisk looks at Asriel with an annoyed look in her eye.
"Frisk…?" He asks as she sighs.
"We should decide on a new name for him… something not so… well, not him right now." Asriel glares at her with a look of annoyance.
"Perhaps later… anyways what are we going to do?" Frisk looks around, to see Chara already back to his monster form, before her eyes landed to a certain reptile. She makes her way towards Alphys, who was was sitting next to Undyne watching Television while they were waiting.
"Alphys, what did you learn from yesterday and today?" Alphys looks up to see Frisk staring at her with questions.
"Well… I did some minor experimenting, Though it ended up being dangerous even then. His body is rejecting magic on a serious scale. Hes actually ejecting his magic out and its killing him." Frisk nods as she glances to the door.
"That is exactly what I figured, but what happened with your tests." Frisk says pressing forwards.
"Well, while I can manage to get magic into him, its dangerous and it causes the bleeding to start up. Its like magic forces open every one of his soul's magic pores instantly on a phyiscal level. It causes serious pain if he tries to use magic for sure cause of this, and even more so if he uses magic it will kill him quicker. To make things worse, I cannot slow the process of his life fading any further… his magic generation is so small that its actually at times making his woulds open up more if he consumes anything with magic. I plan on looking into a medicinal remedy to help stop that if not slow it though." Frisk nods again before she sighs.
"If anything comes up, contact us alright?" Frisk says, only to get Alphys to nod before the group starts to take their leave. Undyne sighs as she leans back as deep into the couch as she could.
"Those brats never have it easy..." Undyne says closing her eye, a smile on her face.
"Yeah… I just hope thing stay calm for now." Alphys says before she turns back to look at Undyne, only to see she was no longer leaning back and was a mere three inches from her face.
"...They will be fine, now where was I earlier my little reptile." Undyne says seductively, causing Alphys to give a slight yelp as Undyne climbs ontop of her locking lips.
Outside the group sighs, Chara glances to Frisk and Asriel before shaking his head.
"You two really are a magnet for trouble, if we don't have one thing its another." Chara says with a rejected look on his face, the idea of relaxing just seemed impossible around his older siblings.
"Ha, this is relaxing for us in a way." Asriel says, only for Frisk to bonk him lightly on the head with a sigh.
"Not really Azzy, Its calming to have new info, but at this point its stressful. Everyday it feels like we are being watched, being viewed as outsiders… even other humans seem to becoming scarce around the zones we are allowed right now… and that is another thing is that we are stuck with zones unlike our original timeline, its exactly the same yet different." Frisk says as she looks to the ground, Chara nods with his eyes closed.
"Yeah, before you guys had free will to do whatever, now you have a minority restriction, a new race with limits, and whats weird is they even restricted Frisk, despite being 'human'. She is allowed as much as Monsters do..." His tail twitches as he looks about, his body feeling an odd resonance from almost every direction. 'What the… what is this feeling, its like I am surrounded by other copies of myself...' He thought, he glances at the others obviously not affected by this weird feeling, Sans however could see the look on his face and knew that something was bothering him.
"Something wrong brat?" Sans ask, Chara looks at him and gives a very subtle nod.
"Do none of you feel that? The feeling of more than one of yourself around you?" Everyone stops their minor conversations as they look at him, Frisk closes her eyes as she tries feeling the air around her.
"No, but..." She felt something it was like a tingling of magic being drawn in every direction, not just any magic but their natural magic excreted through their body. "… something is pulling our excess magic we release constantly away from us right now…" Sans narrows his eyes as he pulls his left hand out and raises it up before all of them are encased in a solid cage before it vanishes. The second they arrive at the new destination the cage breaks apart and vanishes into the ground, Frisk looks around.
"Still feeling that drawing feeling Frisk?" Sans ask with a serious tone, Frisk shakes her head as he narrows his eyes further. "That means only one thing, something or someone is stealing our extra magic to use… and with what I have discovered… no they couldn't have the technology to do so..." He starts to mumble to himself. Chara looks about as he closes his eyes.
"Sans, I think I know what your thinking of..." Sans snaps out of his daze and looks to Chara who opens his eyes with a sorrowful expression. "I need you to take me, Frisk and Asriel somewhere." Maire glares at him and grabs his shirt.
"What? Your gonna ditch me for this adventure?!" She snaps with angry glare.
"I… I don't want you to think differently of me." Maire's eyes soften as she pulls him into a hug. Sans chuckle as he raises his hand.
"No matter what that couldn't happen, Your already an asshole, so I can't think anymore differently about ya." She says, Chara smiles and nods as he looks to Sans.
"Sans, remember earlier this year when I had you take me to that old facility and we placed that grave up for… you know." Chara says as a snap echos in their ears before the sounds of birds chirping overhead and in the trees, A river could be heard off in the distance as Chara turns around to see a bunker door left ajar, the burnt foot thick door was well bent from what looks like an explosion from the inside. Next the facility there was a small grave stone that Chara walks to and kneels down near. Frisk, Asriel and Maire follow him as Sans stays back.
"I'll stay here and keep watch while you take care of this. Give me a call if you need me." He says walking away vanishing behind a tree. Chara wipes his eyes as his form recedes into his normal form. The stone was nearly pristine looking, but looked roughly made. The engraved text says such; "In loving memory of a surrogate father, Jared Halwin. 18XX-18XX Resting with his dear son Chanile Halwin and wife Valine Halwin." Frisk smiles as she and Asriel places their hands on Chara's shoulders.
"Who is this Chara?" Maire asks as Chara smiles gently.
"Its Jared, my surrogate father. The one who created me in this underground lab." He says before standing up looking at the door. "Lets go, Its time I faced my demons and finally showed this place to Frisk and Asriel. I fear the humans on back on the track for what these humans who created wanted… Magic as a type of a super weapon, one to decimate mass armies or even boost groups of troops to fight platoons worth." He says taking lead as he pushes the door wide open, a gust of wind blows from deeper in causing Chara to sigh he raises his hand as a small light orb flies forth leading the way, Asriel and Frisk call forth their own light orbs that spread out around the group lighting them up decently to see clearly around them.
Frisk creates an additional orb and hands it to Maire who watches in amazement as she holds the warm light in her hand. The group walks forth as she looks at Frisk who smiles at her.
"If something happens and we get separated that light should last a few days unless something happens to me. Though that is highly unlikely so it should help you find your way around until you get out. Doubt that will happen anyways..." She says as Maire nods with a smile, as they began walking in deeper, the technology around them looked very similar to the current technology. Frisk and Asriel felt unevenly ill from the near exact replica technology being here yet being years old.
"I don't get it… This stuff didnt exist until a few years ago, this technology is even, if not better than the current civilian tech… and at most on par of the current military tech Sans has told us about." Asriel says as Maire nods.
"My father being military, I can tell you that is too true… some of this shouldn't even exist if this was over two hundred years ago." Chara nods as he glances back.
"My thoughts exactly… this is one of the few places untouched by any time change… even when we went into the alternate world, it was exactly the same. Sans didn't like it when I first brought him here, infact he started to investigate into why it was so… similar." Chara says as they stop at a wall, Chara reaches up and begins to flick a few switches as lights begin to flicker about, they cancel their magic as the room lights up, the computers and other devices light up, most covered in black sooth and some looking like they should be destroyed were fully operational.
"What in the hell?! This shit still works?" Maire says as she backs up some to be closer to Frisk and Asriel. She felt unsafe even near them with how this technology was in such working order, even more so after a further glance the entire room looked like it was burned and blown up.
"Yeah, it works. We need power to progress further." Chara says as he begins brushing off part of the wall of thick cobwebs and dust, revealing a glowing panel as he places his hand on it.
"Scanning… Identity confirmed; Character 003; Alias; Chara. Welcome back home Subject 01. Please report to command, you are Seventy-two thousand five hundred days past due for your lastest mission assignment report. Please be aware of possible punishment. Have a great day." A computer system speaks as Frisk and Asriel look at him. His expression was more pain-filled than anything.
"I had to take an 'assignment' to leave… I had to figure out how to 'activate' my profile to allow me full access to the system. In simple terms, I had to 'activate' the profile to say I was a weapon of war." Frisk's eyes widen slightly as she walks to him and pulls him into a hug, not caring that she was pressing his head into her chest rather tightly as she held him close.
"Chara, I am sorry all this happened to you… If I could I would take those memories away so you never felt the pain of them again, but we are here for you." She says as Asriel walks up and places his hand on Chara's shoulder.
"Shes right, we are here for ya. And considering the fact that if you were anyone else I wouldn't let you be be nuzzled into Frisk's chest so much… Speaking of which remind me to kick Sans ass as he teleported us without your bra again Frisk." Frisk blinks as she lets go and glances into her shirt as her faces heats up.
"SANS!" She yells, the words echo out of the cave and to the said Skeleton whom felt the anger radiate from the bunker. Sans glances around to see a purple bra on the ground with wide eyes.
'Oh, shit.' Sans thought as he inched close enough to the door to call back
"Sorry!" He yells back into the bunker only for a growl to echo back causing him to walk away. "Nope, not worth it to wait close to the door, back to patrolling." He says walking away quickly, failing to see a group of eyes watching him before a decent size of eight humans sneak in after he walks away. Sans turns back feeling an odd feeling of eyes before he notices the door was closed slightly more, his eyes narrow before he turned back. The sound of a clunk behind him causes him to turn around to see it closed all the way. His eyes widen as he ran to the door.
"Oh shit, not good!" He tries to open the door as it refuses to budge as he steps back and calls upon his magic. "Fuck me, look away for one second Sans and you fuck it all up." He says as he begins to fire bones at the edges of the door open that were bent open.
Back underground with Frisk as she sighs, Chara was shaking a blush off his face before he looks forwards.
"Thanks for that you two… but anyways we need to go deeper." He says as he leads the way into the next room, a large tube with glass broken and the remains of skeletons about. Frisk looks around as she sees a slight look of rusted and burned metal on the floor, it was a handgun as she latches onto Asriel seeing it, whom looks at what she is looking at causing the group to stop.
"T-This is where Jared was..." Chara nods as he walks forth. "Despite the memories, when I came here Jared was still here in the same place and it was the same effect. He never actually lead me to the Underground..." His fists tighten, while Asriel's eyes narrow.
'Why would Mazerin give fake memories… Hes starting to piss me off more and more the more I learn of his actions' He grits his teeth and Frisk glances up at him and holds onto him tighter, the feeling of pain her her chest didn't recede. The feeling of something bad was ever growing and she didn't like it, neither did Asriel as he could feel her worry starting to seep through their mental connection.
They made their way to a room with several tubes, and lots of different contraptions, walls were filled with devices and was well lit. The room's door was blown open but the room was pristine still. The lights were fully functional as the room easy to look around, Chara leads the way to a computer and looks to Maire.
"Maire, knowing your the most adept of us with computers, care to use this to pull up a file on an object called 'Siphon Type-342' if you wouldn't mind? It was all setup so anyone could find anything here..." Maire nods, deciding she wanted to dig around at the other files on the computer. "We came here because its the only room still connected to the data centers in the facility not fried from the fire I caused." He says turning to Frisk who looks at him. Asriel takes a step forwards as he looks at Chara.
"Just what the hell did they do here?" Chara glances away as he sighs.
"Magic testing, I was one to test over a few hundred of these devices when I was here… my magic wasn't stable to use and being forced to draw on it when it was naturally draining in high amounnts I broke nearly every single one of them, except one that they didnt need me to use, but needed me to be a target of." Frisk looks away as she felt her chest ache.
"I remember now… some of your memories were just so hazy because of the desire to forget them was so strong… this… 'Siphon' as you call it… it nearly killed you the first time right?" Asriel's eyes widen slowly as he looks at Chara whom nods.
"Yes..." He says as he recalls that day.
18XX- Underground bunker."So everything set?" A man says as a brunette male was kneeling and smiling at a young child with similar hair.
"Don't worry Chara, I will be right there if anything goes wrong I will stop the test okay? We just need to test this device to see if we can capture and store excess magic you've been radiating." The man says as another scoffs.
"Jared! Get your ass up and over here, stop your needlessly bonding with the subject." A man in a suit says as he walks in. Jared stands as his white coat straightens out with him.
"Izami, I tell you we need to beable to teach him things and have him trust us, he would be no good to us if he refuses everything..." Jared says trying to appease the suit-dressed man. Izami scoffs as his eyes narrow.
"We have plans to ensure that. Now move, we are starting the test." Jared sighs as he pats Chara's shoulder lovingly as he moves. Chara stands there in the gown as Izami scoffs again. "And 'He' by the way has no gender. That thing has No genitalia. It is a thing, an abomination." He says making Chara jump with worry and look away. A man walks to the otherside of the room across from Chara with a rather large device attached to his arm as he points it at Chara.
"I am beginning the extraction!" He shouts as the device glows, Chara's body locks up as his chest lean forwards as he stands on his toes. He barely lasts a few seconds before the child begins to scream in pure agony. Jared's eyes widen as he looks at the person with the device.
"Stop your-" Izami walks past him and cuts him off.
"Keep going, we need a full sixty seconds of extraction to test the storage device." He says as Jared glares at him.
"Are you insane?! Its barely been fifteen seconds and hes in pure agony. Hes bleeding from the eyes and nose!" He screams he glances over to a panel to see readings of Chara's magic. "YOU GOT TO STOP, YOUR GOING TO DRAIN HIM OF EVERYTHING HE HAS!" He shouts. Izami shakes his head.
"KEEP GOING, OR I WILL FIRE YOU MYSELF, YOU KNOW THE PRICE OF THAT!" Izami shouts as Jared growls and rushes to the man and forcibly shuts the device off causing Izami to snap at him, this was all only thirty seconds in and the second the device was off, Chara collapses and begins to bleed heavily on the floor, the sounds of everything around him fading.
"YOU ARE CROSSING A LINE MR HALWIN! OR DO I NEED TO START PULLING STRINGS TO GET YOU TO BEHAVE!" Izami screams as Jared's words go unhead. Chara could only hear one final thing as a woman's voice was above him.
"Hang in there, just another year and your free." The voice said softly as he head a call for medics to get him.
20XX- Underground bunker"Those days.. were horrible. It was also the first and last time I ever got to hear Jared's wife talk to me..." He says as he looks at them. Maire whistles as she raises her hand.
"You three come here and look at these files I found!" She calls as the three surround her. The files upon the screen. "It says… 'Siphon, prototype was successful, despite interfence of Jared Halwin. The capture and containment of magic has allowed us to start desiging new devices to use this with. The current design is too big and heavy to utilize in the field, and the lack of 'Mon Units' as a way to refill magic is problematic. Working on a solution… Possible solution is to send a team into the supposive 'myth' of Mount ebott to find more Mon Units and to retrieve them… though the cave entrance is blocked by some sort of field that forces you right back out, and the only way in is through a sky opening fifty kilometers to the west of the entrance… Perhaps 'Chara' could be the best subject for this, and if it fails no one will know and we can move on to the next project of capturing environmental magic.' Jeezus these people are fucked in the head…" Maire says as she sighs she pulls up another file.
"Here is another file that really bothers me… it was dated a hundred years after Chara's escape." Chara's eyes widen as sirens went off in his head. "Device 'Drainer'. It has come to our knowledge after the incident of subject 003, that magic can reside for YEARS around them or others they interact. The 'Drainer' would capture this, but with it being infused in the person it has to be ripped from their body and soul… subsequently killing them. I Izami Maratune Jr, have sent all my father's work to the company. The loss of the children we tried to send to 'help' the Mon Units to get free have no affect on us anymore. We have a new plan brewing and with the Drainer… if the monsters ever get free then we will have a way to use them as living batteries… by my cacluations we should also beable to rip limps and attach them to humans to grant them their own supply of magic… I found old writings of a race of the 'Monsters' and Humans living and having children based off of some myth to be both… ha… if it were that easy my father would have bred millions… they just are not compatible to breed as Valine Halwin's capture and breeding attempts were failures by my father's attempts. Using Mon Unit DNA may not have been enough though… perhaps we could actually try capturing a human and Mon Unit and pump them full of Aphrodisiacs… I wonder if they breed like beasts… if so they would destroy the human's organs in the proccess… haha would be interesting to see.' Oh god… I think im gonna be sick reading that… these people are just… monstrosities…" Maire says as Chara and Asriel nod. Frisk didn't feel so well herself as she felt her ear twitch sudden. She stood up and looked around.
"No joke… but how?! How was someone here a hundred years later?!" Chara says as he didn't like the feeling he was having. Suddenly a large bang was heard as a voice echos.
"FRISK, ASRIEL WE HAVE COMPANY IN BOUND TO YOU!" San's voice echoed as suddenly the power shutdown.
"Get the girls, leave the males." A voice says as Frisk found herself being grabbed and thrown to the side, a familiar feeling of a bag over her head had come over her, the sound of fire magic burning but being cut off as Asriel groans.
"T-The was that?! Something is on my chest… everything is heavy as hell!" He growls as Frisk felt a sharp pain to her head before a feeling of a metal device attached to her chest.
"Escape this way." A voice says as Maire screams.
"LET ME GO YOU BASTARDS" She screams as a thunk is heard. Chara growls before a glow is before him of a man smirking.
"Best sleep Subject 03!" He says as he slams his glowing arm into Chara, his vision going blurry as he falls to the floor, the footsteps fade as another set of steps arrive. The lights suddenly flicker back on seeing the area round them.
"Chara! Asriel!" Sans says as he checks Chara who appears alright, moving to Asriel to find the young sio'ta monster having a hard time breathing as he calls forth his pistol and angles it a the device blasting a shot of magic straight through it and causing it to let go of Asriel who gasps for air. "You okay Asriel? Are you alright?!" He says as the goat nods trying to sit up.
"W-Where is Frisk?" Sans looks around, but there was no way out, and they couldn't have gotten past him cause he would have felt Frisk or Maire's presence nearby even with such a device on them like he could with Asriel.
"I… Im sorry kid. Shes gone, She and Maire were taken." Chara coughs as he tries to sit up himself.
"B-Bastards… I gotta… I gotta save Maire." He says as he starts to crawl. "I can't… I can't let another human die… not again." He says collapsing entirely as Sans looks around.
"Fuck!" He screams as he feels the guilt of failure again.
