The Justice Guild
CHP38: Uncovering Enemies
The night air was cool and the small breeze along with it was refreshing. Most lights within the park had been shut off and a large portion attendants turned in for the night. Only a handful remained walking the streets. A dark figure stood atop one of the larger buildings throughout which resembled a lighthouse. It was the perfect vantage point and already had his eyes on two security people, both of which mingled the vicinity of interest. He already shutdown the security systems hacked through the day and estimated he'd have a little over an hour before the systems were back online.
The dark knight stepped forward and leaped off the ledge gliding downward. Time was working against him so knew he needed to act fast. The location was a small building on the east side of Doves Paradise. Batman touched down over the roof of an arcade and eyed the building across the way. With the use of a function inside his lenses Batman zoomed in getting an even closer look.
"A lab..." He murmured.
Batman glimpsed through a window of the location and standing there were four persons, two of which wore long white lab coats. Two conversed but he couldn't make out what was said given their backs were to him. They worked with and moved around different equipment but none of which looked to hold any significance or out the ordinary. Batman zoomed out and carefully checked his surroundings. He was rarely wrong in judgement and clearly felt the presence of another as if he was followed or being watched.
The cape crusader switched the lenses to detect mode and scouted the area around. Nothing turned up, but the body heat sensor did however pick up on something in the distance. He lost sight of whatever it was and dismissed it as nothing and refocused his attention on the lab. One of the four stepped out front blowing smoke and grunting. The individual held a cigar in his left hand gazing into the sky. Batman was however more interested with what went on inside and zoomed in once more. One of the persons dressed in a lab coat stepped in front of a panel, and Batman was alert enough to reposition and get a clear view. The record function inside his cowl was active and watched carefully.
"Five, seven, five, eight, one, six, seven..." Batman said.
Those were the numbers punched in and immediately an adjacent wall inside the building slid open. Each of the three stepped through and punched in another set of numbers over another panel as the wall closed shut behind them. His objective was more than clear and knew exactly what needed to happen. It was a race against time so didn't have the luxury of playing it slow. He stood returning his vision to normal and leaped off the roof.
"What in the name of..."
The cigar fell from the guard's mouth after spotting the cape crusade closing in from up high! As he came within two feet Batman dropped down two projectiles which exploded over the ground. The sleeping gas knocked the guard out cold almost instantly. Batman stepped over his body and through the door with his eyes on the panel. Before proceeding he observed his surroundings.
He positioned in front of the panel afterwards and punched in the numbers five, seven, five, eight, one, six, and seven one after another. As it had done for the security the adjacent wall slid open and he stepped through. Bypassing the additional panel he advanced down a dark hall which led to an elevator and staircase to his left. The decision was easy to make given the situation. The dark knight scampered down the steps. It felt like forever as he continued downward in a circular path. He slowed up as he perceived voices and set eyes on a door.
Batman made the switch to detect mode and viewed activity on the other side of the door. Two persons were in view but were clear down the hall and the instant they turned the corner he pushed open the door. No security systems were picked up by his system but still moved forward with caution. Little by little he progressed through what was more than likely a hidden base. It was much larger than he expected. His stealth paid off as he snuck around bypassing those occupying different areas, using the ceiling and dark corners. Some were dressed in similar lab coats to those up top, and others were suited in black suits covered from head to toe. They wore what looked to be gas masks and their eyes covered by dark gray visor/lenses. He heard voices ahead and settled against a wall.
"You gonna be at the party this upcoming weekend? I heard there's going to be lots of women, drinks and loud music! Everyone's gonna be there."
"Depends on my schedule, I'll try and talk with the head guys and see if we can work something out." Another replied.
Footsteps approached the two from further down the hall.
"What're you two dimwits blabbing about?! Boss man wants us in the observation room, turns out the queen of love made contact with updated information."
"Damn, just our luck! Hopefully it isn't a big deal, I was looking forward to a down night of relaxation." One complained.
The group of three took off and Batman looked to follow them but then an automatic door on the opposite wall to him slid open. One masked individual stepped out and eyed him right away!
"What in the..."
Batman leaped up and smashed his head against the wall knocking him unconscious, but from down the hall three additional persons in black witnessed the attack!
"Good heavens, what in the hell is that!?" One trembled holding his weapon.
"Intruder," One spoke into a radio, "We've got an intruder on block C!"
The dark knight instantly threw down two smoke bombs and took off running! Alarms sounded through the entire facility and security was on high alert. Guards headed to the cell block quickly. The entire space was surrounded and as the smoke died down there was no sign of the intruder.
"Where the hell did he go?!"
"Keep your eyes peeled," Another spoke, "He couldn't have vanished into thin air unless a teleportation user."
"You think we're dealing with a magic user?" Someone asked.
"If they were able to infiltrate this base and make it all the way down here I'd say so. Set your weapons to magic resistance, it'll significantly weaken the enemy with every strike."
"And what if that thing isn't based on magic?"
Everyone instantly looked to the singular individual.
"What do you mean?"
"What I saw was a seven or eight foot beast with pointy ears, wings and glowing eyes!" He replied.
A large portion of the group gazed at each other as laughter followed.
"Don't be ridiculous your eyes were obviously playing tricks on you. Say this person or thing isn't a mage, our weapons are plenty capable to dish out enough physical damage. Let's all spread out and find the bastard before any damage is done. Once the situation is under control we'll contact the mistress."
The group slowly separated from each other and began their search. One however quickly slowed up and looked to the ceiling. He opened his mouth to speak but by then it was already too late as the dark figure dropped down atop him! Another smoke canister exploded over the ground and in that instant the dark knight knew there was only one option.
"What's happening, I can barely see?!" One shouted.
The first was knocked out and Batman quickly moved for the next disarming him of his weapon and smashing his head into a wall. Another came at him from behind which he back flipped over and kicked at the back of his head. He then proceeded to choke slam another two and followed up with a knee to the face of another before twisting his arm and slamming him to the ground. They had the numbers advantage but that quickly shrunk as they were taken down one after another.
"What is this thing?!"
One charged forward with an electric staff but was kicked out of their grasp and then knocked out with a knife hand to the throat. Batman took the staff in hand using its range to his advantage, sweeping the enemies off their feet!
"Fall back!" One demanded.
"But sir!" Another retorted.
"Just do it!"
Batman stabbed the staff into one attacker kicking him to the ground, and lifted another over his left shoulder effortlessly tossing him into a wall. He blocked the punch of another and knocked him out cold with a single strike. The cape crusader was so caught up in the moment he didn't realize most security retreated back. The leading guard held a device and once he determined he and his men left were a safe enough distance away he pressed at a button in the middle.
Straight away the section beneath Batman's boots disappeared and he fell downward with a handful of the guards knocked out. The fall was nearly fifteen feet and extended his cape touching down smoothly. Next thing he knew the atmosphere became foggy as a strange substance shot up from the ground. He felt light headedness before falling off balance and dropping to a knee. The section of floor where he fell through slid shut and returned to the way it had been. That was the last thing he saw before blacking out.
XXX
"Look, look he's waking..."
Batman's eyes slowly opened and took a moment before his vision adjusted. The first thing he picked up on was his immobility. His arms were positioned upward and held firmly together by chains and looked out ahead as one of the persons in black approached.
"Who are you?" The unknown asked.
Batman looked all around before his eyes fell on the specific individual but said nothing. A minute passed and nothing changed.
"You took out thirty of my men, and you made it look easy. Are you a spy? Who trained you?" The general questioned.
The cape crusader again said nothing.
"Playing the quiet game isn't going to help your stance."
"There is one of two things taking place in this park. The first a large conspiracy with all hired officials and workers in on it. And the second, there is a large mass of you operating secretly on a hidden agenda unknown to those kept in the dark." Batman voiced.
The captain removed his gas mask and raised an eyebrow.
"Conspiracy you say...what are you getting at? Are job is to provide park guests with a splendid and safe experience. There's a reason we're known as one of the better theme parks in Fiore and number one in attendee satisfaction."
"Really," Batman glimpsed back and forth between the group, "Then perhaps you wouldn't mind explaining to me who this Queen of love is."
The commander grimaced biting at his tongue and wondered just how the intruder came across the name.
"Who're you?" The commander asked once more.
Everyone's attention was diverted as the alarms sounded and the resonance of commotion was evident through the halls.
"Backup," The commander stared into Batman's lens covered eyes, "Don't worry, they'll be detained and joining you soon. If you don't cooperate we'll result to physical measures, and I'd hate to do th..."
The entrance door shot open with two guards entering halfway out of breath.
"She...she's a monster!" One said slouched over trying to catch his breath.
"She?" The commander stepped away from the dark knight.
Without warning two bodies were forced through the door and standing over them was a woman! She wore purple boots in addition to dark purple fishnet stockings, white gloves, a purple mask and a long purple cat like tail. Her red hair was tied in a ponytail by way of a white ribbon and there was a heart logo visible on her left arm. A menacing grin was visible on her face and cracked a black whip in her left hand. Batman was baffled by how things were unfolding but kept a straight face.
"And just who the hell are you?!" The commander clinched his fists.
"Fairy Woman." She threw out the rope which wrapped around the commander's neck.
She quickly pulled him forward and knocked him out with one hit. Fairy Woman continued her assault on the by standing guards. Her mobility and quickness made it difficult for a single of them to lay a hand on her. She leg dropped one and flipped upward kneeing another in the face and performed a spinning kick knocking down another five.
"Damn bitch!"
One ran at her from behind but she extended one leg and forced him against a wall with the heel of her boot at his throat. She knocked him unconscious with her opposite elbow and spun around throwing out the whip. It wrapped around the ankle of another and she pulled him off his feet swinging him around and putting him through a table. She reeled in the whip and looked around at the defeated foes. Fairy Woman's attention shifted to her left at the sound of chains dropping to the ground. The dark knight stepped down and off the small platform situated in front of her.
"What part of stay out of this didn't you understand?" Batman glared.
She maintained a blank expression but bit at her tongue.
"You shouldn't have come, Erza." Batman said.
Fairy Woman's eyes widened and her shoulders dropped.
"But how?!" She inquired.
Batman raised an eyebrow beneath the cowl and contemplated if the question was serious or rhetorical.
"You aren't serious..."
"That obvious." Erza's head lowered.
Batman's eyes narrowed and halfway felt she was acting out, but with each second that passed it didn't appear so.
"You wanted information right," Erza glimpsed up at him, "I overheard two of them speaking just before springing my attack and it turns out their main workspace is just down the hall from here."
"Let's move." Batman replied.
Fairy Woman led the way and Batman couldn't help but stare at the long tail waving back and forth behind her. It reminded him of a certain cat back in Gotham city. Erza was the first through the door and throughout were lacrima monitors overseeing the entire facility.
"Perhaps we should wake one of them and get answers," Fairy Woman looked around, "Otherwise this was all for nothing."
"No." Batman replied.
She watched him pull out a small device from his belt and walked toward the main system. It took only a moment before he navigated into the prime database. Fairy Woman hadn't a clue what he was up to but she positioned beside him.
"Everything we need is here," The cape crusader inserted the small device into the main hard drive, "It's just as I thought. This system is on a hidden network and separate to what's on top site. Regardless of its intricate layout and firewalls it's nothing I can't infiltrate and take command."
"Very interesting, so the tech from your world is compatible with our own?"
"Yes and no," Batman looked to Fairy Woman from the corner of his eye, "Do remember I'm employed at Magnolia's detective agency. Shortly after orientation I went through the basics which included technology, magic and transportation. I've since altered a select few of my gadgets to accommodate for necessary changes. When the upload concludes we must leave and avoid further confrontation for now."
Fairy Woman grinned with crossed arms as Batman stepped off to the side pressing down on the side of his cowl.
"Cyborg listen carefully, I'm gaining access into a hidden network and re-engineering the specs. When I'm done you should have access to their entire database through your systems and manually search through."
"Where are you?"
"Inside an underground base, I'll discuss the details later. You should have full access in a matter of minutes."
"Awesome. But what exactly am I looking for?" Cyborg inquired.
"If the upload is a success we'll talk then." Batman replied.
The link was suspended in the click of a button.
"Who was that?" Fairy Woman questioned.
"A friend." Batman answered.
Elsewhere the group of six walked through the dark cave and carried a torch to light the path. Laxus led the way and a light clicked on as they stepped into what looked to be the place they'd been in search of. Evergreen was halfway startled by the lights clicking on but knew it had to be motion censored so didn't think much into it. Starfire stepped ahead of the group positioning in front of a desk wiping away dust. In doing so she realized an important detail.
"It's been quite some time since anyone's set foot in here. Weeks, months or perhaps even years." Starfire said.
"You can say that again." Evergreen spotted cobwebs in different sections of the space.
Each searched around for whatever they could find and Freed coughed as a result of the dusty environment. Supergirl moved up beside Starfire and shuffled through the papers lied out over the desk, but none of which seemed to hold any importance. That was until she came to one of the last sheets.
"Hey guys I think I might have something come quick!"
Starfire was already at her side so was the first one to take a look. The others quickly made their way over but a loud beeping sound rerouted everyone's attention.
"What's that noise?" Bickslow looked around.
The explosion that followed happened so fast not a single of them was ready for it!

The atmosphere and overall tone of Lawn Dawn Town was very much the opposite of what he experienced day 1. Children were out playing and townspeople walked about mingling. From Clark's perspective it was a great sight to see, and everyone appeared to be very friendly towards one another. It was a vast improvement from him and Canary's entrance, but not everything was perfect. There was something however that hit the moment they entered town and still bothered him. Clark grasped his heart as he continued along down the street and observed a group of children playing a game of soft ball.
He hadn't any idea what was behind his fatigue and drainage of energy, but it was certainly troubling. On top of all that was a moderate headache but ignored it as much he could. He carried at his side a clipboard with a couple sheets of paper and eyed the orphanage up ahead. He passed a hot dog stand on his way there and observed more of what went on in town. It was really quite incredible and he couldn't believe the complete turnaround from the day previous. Soon he stood in front of the building which was guarded by two individuals wearing casual clothing with matching dark green ties.
"Hello visitor." One greeted.
"Hello," Clark shook hands with both, "Mind if I take a look inside?"
"You're a reporter right...yeah sure, go right ahead."
Clark shook his head and both men stepped off to the side allowing him entry. He walked through the main lobby and straightaway spotted a group of children dusting furniture and cleaning the floors. A handful of adults watched over them with great intensity in their eyes. It was a strange scene to say the least, with minimal chatter between not only those standing guard and the children as well. The door in which he used to enter swung open.
"Dinah." Clark looked to the woman as she approached.
"I figured you'd be here," She sided with him, "Anything yet."
She whispered the last bit.
"Just barely arrived, so no."
Clark led the way as they took a tour of the place and more so than outside all eyes were on them. Everything from their footsteps to gestures were monitored by the over watchers. No matter where in the building they traveled or how many children they bypassed there was a constant between them all.
"Clark don't you find it strange they're..."
"Emotionless, and robotic like? Yes, and that to me is strange I haven't yet seen one smile." Clark spoke over her.
"Not only that; but the lack of conversations is also questionable. It comes into question if the ones running this place have forbidden them from speaking to each other. Only a select few have spoken since our arrival."
"Correct and that's only when they've been asked a question or spoken to by one of their superiors. No signs of abuse from what I've gathered, but I don't like it one bit...from the moment we entered town I've felt it."
"Same, one of those dark wizards is connected to this! Now it's just a matter of finding them!" Dinah whispered with tightened fists.
The morning had mostly been quiet but their actions from the night previous was felt. Security was in a clear uproar and it was clear from his distant observation not all security personnel were informed. It confirmed his suspicion that not all park officials were involved with the shadiness of what went on. Bruce stood in front of a mirror washing his hands and staring back at himself.
"Batman I've got an update."
A voice spoke through his left ear.
"What do you have Victor?" Bruce pressed at the small device inside his ear.
"I did some digging on that database you forwarded and found a collection of irregular jewel transfers to a handful of accounts. Those transfers have all come from a singular account and the jewels were distributed to over sixty different accounts. I'm compiling a list of names an..."
"And the name holder of the prime account...do you have a name?" Bruce questioned.
"Not yet, but I'm working on it. And you should know the ones on the receiving end of these funds are all employed at Doves Paradise and we can assume each of them are involved with this potential member of Holidayz. I'll keep you posted as I go."
"Great, thanks for your service."
The conversation ended and Bruce ran a hand over his face and gazed into the mirror once more. Not a moment later the main entrance door shot open across the room and he perceived the sound of footsteps. His eyes broadened as she came into view behind him.
"How long were you going to keep me waiting? I'm getting bored." Erza wrapped her arms around his torso and lifted her left leg behind her.
"This is the men's bathroom, and last I checked you aren't of such. And I think you're enjoying this whole pretend relationship a little too much." Bruce glared.
"Oh come on," Erza grinned leaning forward and resting her chin over his left shoulder, "And you aren't? The way I see it you make a living acting and deceiving people, we're basically in your neck of the woods."
The entrance door again opened and someone stepped halfway through before jumping slightly.
"Oh I'm sorry, didn't mean to interrupt."
The individual quickly exited out and Bruce forced his way out of Erza's grasp.
"Let's go."
Bruce led the way as they exited out. He was dressed in a short sleeve green shirt and blue jeans whilst Erza wore her typical casual clothing.
"Hear back from your friend?" Erza asked.
"Yes."
"And?"
"He's still investigating the information and we'll just have to sit tight until then. I don't have a computer system in my possession or I'd do it myself." Bruce said.
"Well then I guess it was a good idea I signed us up." Erza said.
"Signed us up," Bruce looked at her suspiciously, "For what?"
"The main event of course." Erza threw her hair back and revealed two tickets.
Bruce took one into his hands and looked it over.
"A dance..." Bruce's eyes narrowed.
"Come on don't give me that look, it'll be fun and besides it'll help us burn time." Erza playfully punched at his arm.
He took another look at the ticket and just as he dropped it in his pocket she wrapped her arm around his and led them toward a nearby shop.
"We've got less than an hour before the competition begins and you can't attend dressed like that."
Bruce halfway opened his mouth to retort but said nothing. The whole circumstance was a waste of time but until he heard back from Cyborg there wasn't much they could do. Of all things that could happen he never imagined picking out a suit for a formal event would be one of them. Bruce purchased the item up front after only two minutes of searching.
"It's strange they would host something like this in mid-day." Bruce said.
"Perhaps, but the main ceremony won't be held until tonight and that's when the queen and king of the Doves Splash will be crowned." Erza replied.
"You mean the competition?" Bruce asked.
Erza simply nodded.
"Yes and it will be held at the Castle of love," Erza's eyes lit up gazing in the direction of the largest building inside the theme park, "I can't wait to see what it looks like inside."
The two stopped by a small diner and got something to eat and afterwards Bruce headed for the nearest bathroom and changed outfits. Erza used her requip magic and changed into a red dress with her hair tied up with a white bow and she wore white gloves that extended to her elbows.
"Shall we?" Erza extended a hand.
They locked arms and journeyed toward the castle like structure. Bruce coughed and cleared his throat looking to Erza.
"You...you look beautiful." He said.
Erza's cheeks turned a cherry red and looked to the ground.
"Thank you." She looked him in the face.
Soon they were in front of the building and had their tickets stamped at the front entrance and were both given a number connected to a string. Inside was everything they expected and more and the ballroom was comparable in size to that of the royal palace. All around the room were tables and chairs with over twenty judges. Erza looked to a nearby clock which showed it was five minutes before three and she knew the event was just underway. Both she and Bruce checked in at the table and confirmed their number with the judges and were then directed to a specific spot on the dance floor. Bruce looked around and from what he could tell there was at least fifty other couples excluding him and Erza.
"You ever dance before?" Bruce smiled.
"Of course, I wouldn't have went through with this otherwise. I hope you can keep up." Erza returned the smile.

Wendy walked the streets of town with Carla trailing close behind. They separated from the rest of their group and found someplace to eat. It was a small diner in the mid-section of town, but was empty. They were the only costumers inside, and one worker stood behind the counter wiping it down with a wet rag.
"Customers, welcome!" He dropped the rag.
Both girls sat over a stool in front of the bar area and were handed menus. They took some time looking the menu over and ordered. The waiter entered through a back door and returned with their drinks in under a minute. They were still in the process of getting a feel for the surrounding so had not yet began their investigation. Outside the diner and down the block walked Gajeel and Mirjane. The female mage led the way holding a map and the dragon slayer followed close at her side. He was very much observant of his surroundings and noticed eyes peering on them from windows throughout town. On hindsight it appeared to be a normal town, but he felt something wasn't right about the town. He couldn't put a finger on it, but there was nothing about it that was normal.
"Mira, where are you leading us?" Gajeel questioned growing impatient.
"Nowhere in particular, I'm just trying to familiarize ourselves with everything."
"You ever get the feeling we might be wasting time? I'm starting to get the vibe we've come to the wrong place. The people here are way creepy and awkward. Not only that but they share a singular scent. It's like a ginger maple type odor."
"What do you mean?"
"Even I'm uncertain at this point. As you know my dragon slayer nature means I can sniff out anyone's scent, and I'm telling you the people of this town share a similar one. It's really quite bizarre."
"Well we haven't found anything yet, but this has to be the place. It's called the town of seasons and is also known for the orphanage. And based on the info obtained by Lucy this town falls right in line with night two's final challenge. We aren't going anywhere until we've cleared this place." Mirajane replied.
"Fair enough, but we shouldn't be go+ing about this blindly. An orphan was the focal part of the story of that challenge right, than shouldn't the destination be obvious. The orphanage is where we need to go if we plan to uncover anything, otherwise we're going around in circles not accomplishing a thing."
Mirajane lowered to map gazing back at Gajeel.
"There is also the part about seasons, which might have nothing to do with the orphanage. Right now all we can do is speculate until we've found something concrete. I do agree the orphanage is likely our best bet at finding something, but the security was loaded in there. There's no way we could perform a proper investigation without being seen."
"I doubt it'd be nearly as packed after nightfall, we could inves..."
"The building is closed off and locked after eight in the evening, so that's out of the question." Mirajane interrupted.
"Then we break in, it's simple as that."
"If that's what we decide it'll have to be done without giving away our presence. We won't worry about that until closer to sunset however, in the meantime we will search for anything else that we can."
The two bypassed an alleyway and as they did Gajeel noticed someone staring them down dressed in all green. The unknown also wore a long green hat that was pointy at the end. Gajeel made eye contact with the individual and in that instant they ran around the corner. The dragon slayer shoved one foot into the ground and took off after them.
"Gajeel!" Mirajane shouted watching him sprint through an alley.
She followed after him and once he turned the corner the one dressed in green was nowhere. He looked in all directions, including the rooftops but there was no sign of him.
"Darn, that little shit is fast! Just where the hell did he go?" Gajeel scratched at his hair.
"I didn't see anyone?" Mirajane implied.
"It was an elf, leprechaun looking fella and he was staring right at us kinda like everyone else in this place. The moment I looked at him he took off running like he'd seen a ghost."
The female mage chuckled with a hand to her mouth, in which Gajeel glared raising an eyebrow.
"What's so damn funny?" He moved in on her with crossed arms.
"You," She giggled some more, "You always look so angry, and I'm betting that's what scared the child off."
Gajeel rolled his eyes looking away from her.
"Yeah, yeah whatever very funny."
They exited out of the alleyway together and continued down the same path. They traveled a little over a block and stopped in front of a small souvenir shop. Gajeel however looked to a shop across the street.
"Be back in a moment, I gotta take a leak." Gajeel said.
Mirajane only nodded looking over some of the items on display. Gajeel entered the small shop across the street and entered the bathroom.
"Is there anything in particular you seek?"
"No I'm just looking," Mirajane made eye contact with the seller and smiled, "But thanks for asking."
She took a silver necklace into her hands twirling it around before dropping it and looking over a snow globe. The Fairy Tail mage flipped it upside down and that's when she noticed something that caused her heart to jump! Through the reflection of the globe she perceived someone standing down the block, and that someone resembled the woman Mirajane saw the night before! She was dressed in a velvet A-line dress accented with luxurious, and wore a red lace mop hat with white trimming.
Mirajane immediately dropped the item and spun around, and just as the night before the woman was gone. In that moment she knew something wasn't right and that she was being watched. The one standing behind the counter jumped slightly as she took off abruptly.
"Ma'am is everything ok?!"
His words were ignored as she took off down the street in the direction of where the woman had stood. Even as she turned the corner there was no one, but then picked up on someone further down the road.
"That's her!"
Mirajane ran through and forced her way through the crowds of townspeople and almost felt as though individuals blocked her path on purpose. She eventually broke through but by then the woman had gained even more ground. Mirajane picked up speed and even considered using take over magic, but realized that would completely blow her cover. She closed the distance but spotted something fall from the woman's pocket. Mirajane slowed up and eyed the small object which she quickly confirmed was an envelope.
"Death awaits outsiders, leave now..." Mirajane read the note inside.
She crumpled it in her hands and continued running holding her black dress up with both hands. The chase lasted for minutes and before she knew it Mirajane stood in a section of town that looked and felt abandoned. In that instant more than any before she was determined and certain that Lawn Dawn had some sort of connection with Holidayz.
"That was the same woman from last night, I'm sure of it! She must be trying to warn me...but Fairy Tail doesn't scare or back down from anything." Mirajane tightened her fists.
She scoured the area in search of the woman or anything else that looked out of place but found nothing. Even so she continued searching, and felt there was a reason the woman appeared in her bathroom the previous night and then again in town. It wasn't coincidence and she wouldn't stop until the mystery was unraveled.
"Mira-san!"
The Fairy Tail mage turned at the sound of someone calling out to her.
"Wendy..." She whispered.
"I knew I felt your magical presence," Wendy skipped in the direction of Mirajane from far down the street, "What are you doing way out here all alone, and where's Gajeel?"
Wendy took only another step before screaming!
"Mira-san look up!"
Mirajane gazed upward and fell backwards with wide eyes! A massive sleigh plummeted downward straight at her and she had no time to react or use takeover. She situated both arms out in front of her and embraced for impact! Her eyes closed at the last instant and when the collision didn't occur she slowly opened her eyes.
"You...Superman!"
"Hello there," Superman positioned a hand over her knee and held the sleigh up with his opposite, "You'll be alright."
Wendy slowly approached with both hands over her chest completely relieved. Superman slowly stood setting the sleigh aside as Wendy extended a hand and helped Mirajane to her feet.
"Where did this come from?" Superman looked to the two.
"It appeared from out of nowhere," Wendy pointed to a section of the sky, "It originated from there, probably by way of teleportation magic. I take it you're investigating Holidayz as well?"
Superman was hesitant but nodded.
"Yes and I should get going, me standing out in the open like this could alert the enemy of my presence. That there pretty much confirms a mage to the dark guild is in fact in town and they're on to you," Superman gazed at the sleigh before eying both Mirajane and Wendy, "That being Fairy Tail."
Superman stepped off to the side but Mirajane ran up and grabbed at his wrist.
"Hold on a moment," She tugged at his wrist slightly and Superman faced her, "You...you look strangely familiar like someone else I've seen recently. Have we spoke since..."
"No we have not," Superman interrupted, "I cannot stay but we'll keep in contact."
The man of steel took off and disappeared over the rooftops. Mirajane stood still with clinched fists and didn't speak for various moments. Wendy stared at her and knew Mirajane was in deep thought.
"That's it!"
"What's it?" Wendy asked.
"It's nothing," Mirajane grinned and threw an arm around Wendy, "Let's head back to the inn and meet with the others."
Wendy felt certain Mirajane was hiding something but elected not to pursue questioning.
"I knew I'd seen you before...Clark Kent." Mirjane thought silently.
The younger female mage perceived Mira's grin widen but still kept quiet. They were quickly met by Carla in the next minute who was in her human form. Mirajane led the way in route to the main part of town, and on the way shared the note recovered. Mira informed them of the woman she'd seen in her room, and then again in town.
"But what do you think she wants?" Wendy gulped.
"Isn't it obvious," Carla crossed her arms, "She's warning us to hit the high road or suffer the consequence. That to me signals she's allied with the enemy."
"Or the opposite." Mirajane added.
"We're at the right place no matter which way you look at it, and did Superman say anything else? Is he here alone?" Carla asked.
"Don't know, he took off too soon." Mirajane shrugged.
"What do we do now?" Wendy inquired.
Carla and Mirajane looked at each other and then back at Wendy.
"The orphanage," Mirajane spoke, "That is where we will find our answers."
"So we find Gajeel and then..."
"No," Mirajane jumped in before Wendy could finish, "We'll go now, and if we happen to see him on the way he can tag along."
The group did just that and headed straight for the orphanage. It was strange however, the guards that were normally stationed out front weren't present. Mirajane, Wendy and Carla entered through the front doors and even inside was somewhat odd. The main lobby area was empty and not a voice or sound was heard.
"Hello," Mirajane called out, "Anyone here?!"
Wendy and Carla followed and as they came up on a hall to their left Mira's heart jumped. Down the hall and several feet from where they stood a woman who was dressed in a velvet A-line dress accented with luxurious, and wore a red lace mop hat with white trimming!
"That's her! Hey miss who're y..."
The woman immediately retreated around a corner down the hall and Mirajane took off after her with Wendy and Carla doing the same. They turned the corner but the woman was nowhere in view but continued down the hall. They were taken off guard as a section of the floor beneath their feet disappeared and they fell through! Each tried using their magic but realized they couldn't. Each fell atop each other and straight away a strange gas was released into the dark space and they coughed as a result. Carla was the first to lose consciousness, followed by Wendy. Mirajane did her best to stand upright but even she gave in to the effects of the gas and fell forward.

It had been a long day and evening and at times they even forgot they were on a mission. The festivities had been exceptional and the final dance had just finished with only four couples remaining. The four groups remained on stage as the judges discussed amongst themselves. When she registered for the event Erza had no clue she and Bruce might possibly take the crown. She saw it as an opportunity to have fun until it was time for their next move. The dancers waited patiently for over fifteen minutes as a card was passed around. Not long after a single individual stepped onto stage holding a microphone.
"First of all I'd like to thank each and every one of you that took part, without all of you none of this would have been possible." The announcer looked between those on stage and others in the audience.
He waited for the applauding to die down before continuing.
"Without further ado let's go ahead and crown our queen and king of the Doves Splash! It was a close one folks, as you all did a magnificent job but there can only be one king and queen..."
A long period of silence followed and everyone waited with intensity. The announcer pulled out a note card from his jacket pocket and smiled. His eyes then fell over the dancers and gazed back and forth between them.
"And the crowned champions of the Doves Splash dance off is," He held the card up high as some bit at their tongues, "Erza Scarlet and Bruce Wayne!"
A light shined down over the two and Erza's mouth dropped open. Both she and Bruce were taken off guard as representatives of the event came up on them placing a queen and king crown over their heads.
"As reward for your victory you will each be given eighty jewels and dessert at the main table," The announcer pointed to a specific section of the room, "The runner ups will also receive prizes in jewels, which will be discussed shortly. Within the hour you two must dance for the audiences one final time, it has been tradition since the competition first launched."
The dancers stepped off stage and immediately Erza and Bruce took a seat at the table in which they were directed. Erza scratched at the side of her head and snickered as she looked at him.
"What's funny?" Bruce questioned.
"You," She pointed to his head with additional laughter, "You look so cute with that thing on your head."
Bruce glared removing the crown and dropping it over the table, whilst Erza stuck out her lower lip pouting. She then sat back with one leg situated over the other.
"To think at the beginning of this you and I would come out on top," Erza leaned dropping her head over his left shoulder, "Regardless of the circumstance, this has been fun...all of it. You sure do know how to show a woman a good time."
She gazed into his dark blue eyes as he did the same back. The moment was short lived as a medium sized cake was placed on the table in front of them, and a baker rubbing his hands together.
"I hope you'll enjoy this, it is a customer favorite." He bowed before taking off.
Erza felt her mouth water looking over the chocolate, fudge cake topped with ice-cream and cherries! There were two sets of utensils and two small place for them both.
"It looks so delicious!" Her mouth dropped open.
She cut the first piece and took the first bite and moaned as a result. It was one of the best desserts she had tasted in a while.
"Aren't you gonna have some?"
"I'm not much for sweets." Bruce replied.
"Oh come on," Erza frowned cutting him a piece and dropped it into his plate, "At least taste it."
Bruce was hesitant but eventually took a fork into his hand and took a bite. Erza was pleased with his immediate reaction and smirked.
"What do you think?"
"It's good." Bruce replied taking another bite.
The cherries in particular were especially unique in taste and were almost addicting. Together Erza and Bruce ate the cake and both went for the last cherry at the same time and Bruce stabbed at it first. As he brought it to his lips he perceived Erza's defeated expression and instead positioned his fork at her lips. She didn't expect the move, but gladly opened her mouth and devoured the cherry. Bruce then sat back and observed her finish what remained in her plate, but especially paid close attention to her face. Erza eventually picked up on this from the corner of her eye and gazed directly at him.
"Everything ok."
"Yes of course." Bruce looked away from her.
Erza chuckled and situated one elbow over the tabletop and her chin in the palm of her hand.
"You sure about that?" She halfway grinned.
Bruce opened his mouth to speak but was then interrupted by a ringing sound inside his ear. Erza watched him push his chair out and stepped off to the side. She eventually looked to the dance floor. It was already after eight PM and she figured the main show would kick off following their dance.
"I've got good news, and it's more than we could have bargained for. I'll try and keep this short and sweet. I've examined dozens of small details but something in particular really caught my attention in the section regarding their communications."
"I'm listening." Bruce spoke.
"As you know that underground passageway or whatever it is you found has its own separate systems to Doves Paradise, including communications. A location in particular nearly nine miles from yours constantly made contact with the underground base. I managed to dig up some of the hidden messages which I'm forwarding to your cowl."
"I'm not in suit at the moment." Bruce said.
"It's ok, just get around to it whenever you can and I'm also forwarding the location of where the calls originated. The person of interest is female, but a name was never given they only addressed her as..."
"The Queen of love, yes I know. Thanks for your assistance Victor, I'll keep you posted."
The conversation ended in the press of a button and Bruce walked toward Erza. She studied his expression and knew something bothered him.
"We're leaving." Bruce said.
"What?" Erza blinked.
He took Erza's hand and pulled her up and out of her seat.
"That friend of mine gathered important information. It's time we take the fight to her." Bruce implied.
"But our dance, we still have a final da..."
"It'll have to wait, we have a date with the Queen of love."
The Fairy Tail mage displayed clear disappointment in her expression.
"You know where she is?" Erza asked.
"We won't know for sure until we check it out, but it's highly likely Cyborg pin pointed her location." Bruce replied.
"Who is Cyborg?"
"That friend of mine," Bruce looked to the exit, "Let's return to the room so I can recover my gear and then we're off to the train station."
Both slowly walked toward the exit and were especially cautious not to bring attention to themselves. Once out of the ballroom Erza pulled the bow from her head and let her hair fall down over her back.
XXX
The train ride was a little less than an hour and the location of interest was already in view. It resembled a small temple and had banners hanging over the entrance in Japanese lettering. Batman had since looked over the specific info and lacrima conversations sent to the cowl. It was more than clear to him they were at the right place but things seemed much too quiet.
"Perhaps we should storm through the front entrance and take them! We defeat whatever enemies get in our way and then demand this Queen of love show herself." Erza suggested.
"Not a good idea," Batman voiced, "There's no telling how she might react if the premises is knowingly breached. In all likelihood she'd take off and run and we'd be back to square one unless we managed to get one of her underlings to talk."
Erza immediately stepped forward and shoved Batman off to the side and caught an arrow! She gazed out in the distance and spotted someone several roofs over carrying a bow.
"Looks like we've already been discovered." Erza grinned.
Not a moment later they were surrounded by groups of individuals dressed in samurai armor and carried swords. Erza reequipped into her Japanese cloth robe, carrying two swords and her hair tied in a ponytail. She and Batman both took off engaging the enemy, and were outnumbered thirty to two. Batman flipped over the one closes to his right and kicked into another and disarmed him of his weapon. He slammed the heads of two others together and knocked them unconscious. Erza sword fought with three at once and sustained a couple cuts but they were quickly struck down.
Batman lifted and threw one enemy over his shoulder which Erza sliced into. Another stabbed at Batman's left shoulder but the blade didn't pass through and the samurai was dropped down in a couple hits. Erza blitzed through and sliced away at incoming enemies and stabbed into another that came from her blindside. Titania and the dark knight maneuvered around each other and made short work of the inferior enemies. Erza let out a sigh as the two swords in her hands disappeared by way of her magic.
"I wonder how things have progressed with the main event. By now they've noticed our exit, it's really unfortunate we didn't finish our..."
Erza felt a strike of electricity zip up her spine as Batman came up on her from behind with one hand over her side and the opposite on her upper leg. She glimpsed back at him situating a hand over his gloved hand before turning and facing him.
"There's no audience," Batman led one of her hands to his side and situated the other over her waist, "But that doesn't have to stop us."
He pulled her in close and leaned his head against hers and she stared into his lens covered eyes.
"You...you aren't serious?" Erza whispered.
"Of course not."
Batman pulled away from her eying the temple. His previous action left her overly surprised and even confused. She didn't take him as the type to have much a sense of humor or even entertain the idea of a dance under the moon. The view overhead was stunning and the moon's light bright.
"Let's move." Batman took a couple steps.
"It's safe to assume the target knows of our presence, and with that there's no reason we shouldn't just take the direct approach and smash through the front entrance!" Erza said.
"We aren't going to assume anything. We will proceed as originally intended." Batman said.
Erza rolled her eyes but was intent with letting him call the shots so she didn't argue. In a bright flash the Fairy Tail mage reequipped again and into her cat like gear known as Fairy Woman. A black whip was tied around her waist and she followed after Batman off the roofs ledge. With detect mode active he found them the perfect entrance through a halfway open window on the south side of the building.
Once inside Erza followed Batman's lead and moved around through the shadows. It quickly became apparent something was off as they passed through the fourth hall from entering and hadn't spotted a soul. Once the section in particular was clear they journeyed up a staircase and stopped in front of a large door. Batman looked to Erza and initiated a silent countdown and at zero kicked open the door together. The space was spacey and both quickly determined it was a dojo. Each stepped through but without ever lowering their guard, and that's when a throne chair clear across the room spun around. Someone sat in it but it was far too dark to make out any of the subjects features. Both hindered any further movement as laughter escaped the lips of the one across from them and confirmed the individual was female.
"Well, well if it isn't the intruders from Doves Paradise!" She said aloud.
Fairy Woman and Batman walked in the direction of where the voice originated and only after a couple steps lights shot on throughout the room, but were of the dim variation. Even so it was just enough light to see the enemy clearly. She wore black boots with three buckles on each, black stockings covering her legs, a pink corset with black trimming, fishnet gloves extending near her elbows, a red rose positioned over her left ear and black magician type hat tilted over her head. She was of medium height with green eyes, and had natural blond hair but with long streaks of red, pink and purple. Dark pink eyeshadow was visible around her eyes, cherry red lipstick and had a small tattoo under her right eye of a red heart with an arrow pierced through it.
"Are you the Queen of Love?!" Fairy Woman marched forward.
The woman opposite of them sat forward and chuckled.
"Indeed I am, and do please enlighten me how you found this place," She situated one leg over the other, "Go ahead, don't all talk at once."
Batman glared and moved in closer as well.
"You're a member to Holidayz? If so, we're taking you in and how we got here is irrelevant." The dark knight replied.
"I see," She snickered running a finger over her lips, "But who do you really think is in control here? Certainly not the two of you, oh and you can ditch the getup titania. I received word from my men you were inside the theme park, and once I looked over the footage of your break in to my underground base I knew it was you. The long scarlet hair and combat skills would be much too convenient to be anyone else, not to mention the timing of your arrival."
Fairy Woman bit down at her lower lip with clinched fists.
"As for your bat friend," The Queen of love looked to the cape crusader, "I'm uncertain of your identity, and doubt you're a member to Fairy Tail. Whoever you are doesn't really matter, because you will both die here and now, boys!"
In the snap of a finger, sliding doors throughout the dojo opened. Batman and Erza were surrounded by enemies dressed in bear costumes from head to toe! There were a range of different colors from purple, orange, red, green, brown, blue, yellow and even black. The one similarity each of the enemies had was a red heart visible over the stomach section of their uniform. Most carried either knives, baseball bats, staffs of small daggers.
"Alrighty boys whoever brings me the head of the bat and titania gets to spend a night with me and do whatever he wants." She licked at her lips.
Batman and Fairy Woman instantly positioned back to back and Erza reequipped into her heart kreuz armor. She carried one sword and Batman uncovered two batarangs and at that point four enemies were just a couple feet away. The first of them stabbed at the dark knight who disarmed him of his weapon using a batarang. Erza slashed at the first of them that came at her and kneed another under his chin and elbowed him to the ground. She lifted another up by the throat and sliced at his torso as she threw him upward.
She then leaped up high and kicked at another of them that flipped out of the way. She swung her blade around but the enemies displayed exceptional quickness and constantly eluded her attacks. With that Erza reequipped into her flight armor which gave her more speed. The bear dressed attackers continued their assault on both Batman and titania from all directions. Batman leg dropped one around the ankles and punched him into the air where Erza grabbed hold of his head midair and slammed him into the wooden surface. More enemies dressed in bear body suits emerged from the sliding doors carrying bow and arrows. They lit the arrows on fire and fired off at Erza and the dark knight. Their allies retreated backwards as the move was made. Both were fully on guard and dodged the projectiles but in the process the carpeting quickly caught fire. Another shot at Erza from behind but she sliced the arrow in half and cut down the enemy as well. Batman spun around kicking the weapon out of another and KO'd him by forcing his head into another standing nearby.
Batman took off on another to his left elbowing him across the face and followed up with a roundhouse kick to another! Erza took off and sided with Batman and together they gained a heavy advantage over the enemies. She reequipped back into her Fairy Woman armor and used the whip to outrange the enemies. Even with their clear advantage the flames were spreading quickly and Batman knew he and Erza couldn't stick around for long. He looked to the throne chair and too no surprise the queen of love had disappeared. One attacker took aim on Erza from behind and Batman pulled her down atop him as the arrow flew passed them both. The duo rolled away from each other as more fire arrows rained down upon them. Erza pushed off the ground and cracked her whip over the head of one and then threw out her legs wrapping it around another's neck and tossed him clear across the room!
She eyed another few and took off in that direction, but the flames had reached a gas tank in a corner of the room which exploded! Erza was caught in the blast radius and she along with a handful of others were forced through a glass window. Batman took off in that direction and followed after them through the shattered window. Erza lost hold of her whip and was heading straight for the concrete surface below! An arm wrapped around her waist before she had the opportunity to reequip and Batman pulled them atop a nearby building by way of his grapple gun. They came to a sliding stop in which Erza's arms were wrapped around his neck. Both looked out in the direction of where the temple stood as another two explosions went off and the entire building was covered in flames. It started to rain lightly, but wasn't near enough to put out the fire. Little by little the temple fell apart right before their eyes.
"Well ah," Erza looked up Batman with reddish cheeks, "Are you going to hold me all night?"
He immediately lowered Erza to her feet, but never took his eyes off the burning building.
"Do you...think she's dead?"
"No. She's alive, and I'm sure she's gotten as far away from this place as possible. It's unfortunate we didn't learn more, and I'm positive this wasn't her prime base...not an enemy of that caliber. There's other angles to work, but now that she knows we're on to her it won't get any easier from here."
"So what do we do now?" Erza asked.
"This is the last of our run, we go back to working things separately. There is no point in returning to the theme park either, we've gathered what there is to know from there already." Batman replied.
Erza was silent for various seconds and though she hated the idea of splitting, she knew he was right.
"The past day and a half with you was enjoyable, and at times I even forgot about the mission. You're truly caring. Working this with you turned out more enjoyable than I could have imagined, and I got to know the real you." Erza grinned.
They stared at each other as the rain prolonged and Erza took a couple steps forward situating just inches of him.
"Perhaps we can do it again sometime. By the way thanks for the save, I never saw that arrow coming." Erza pushed up on her toes and kissed at his left cheek.
Batman's eyes widened and Erza enjoyed every bit of his expression and snickered. She slowly turned away from him but then froze before facing him once more. She stared into his eyes once more, but with much more intensity than before. Batman shared a similar feeling and took a single step forward. Erza saw this as an invite and moved forward never taking her eyes off him. They stayed that way for various seconds before the fairy tail mage moved in closer and positioned her gloved hands over his chest. Batman lifted her left leg over his waist and brought his lips down to her as they embraced in a passionate kiss. Erza moaned and neither was certain how long it lasted as they broke away and took a moment to catch their breathes. Erza blushed and twirled a strand of hair over her face and looked in the opposite direction to him. She couldn't believe they had shared yet another kiss, but it was unlike the first. There was something more to it, but she didn't know what that something was.
"Bruce I..." She glimpsed over her shoulder to nothing.
The dark knight had taken off.
XXX
The evening had been calm and quiet, Gajeel sitting atop a rooftop. He stared at the moon's light glistening over town and was strangely soothing. Mirajane and the others had been absent most the day and only resurfaced a couple hours just before sunset. He questioned their whereabouts but not a single of them gave a clear answer. Not only that but each of the three acted strangely and spoke amongst each other in whispers and leaving him out. Gajeel didn't like it but elected not to question them. If their actions persisted however that would change things.
"Gajeel..."
The dragon slayer was somewhat startled as someone called out to him. He glimpsed over his shoulder setting eyes on Wendy.
"Nice night huh?"
She walked up with her hands positioned together and sat beside him.
"Yes," Gajeel looked at her with suspicion, "Yes it is."
His gaze returned to the town before them. Both kept to themselves for a long period before Gajeel sat back scratching at his left cheek.
"So ah," He looked to his teammate, "Are you certain there isn't something I should know? You don't seem yourself, and that goes for Carla and Mirajane as well. Did something happen today, come on just tell me. I promise not to say a thing, you three promised to keep a secret right? My lips are good as sealed."
Gajeel gestured with a finger over his lips, but Wendy gave no eye contact. His shoulders dropped and he let out a sigh.
"Come on just tell me already!"
Wendy leaned forward absorbed in her own thoughts and paid him no attention. Gajeel grimaced as a result but did nothing and instead returned his gaze to the town below. Another period of silence followed and Wendy slightly looked to Gajeel as she reached into her left pocket and gripped the handle of a sharp blade! She slowly pulled it outward with emotionless eyes and sized him up. The male dragon slayer yawned stretching.
"I'm gonna call it a night," Gajeel stood patting Wendy over the head, "We'll get at it tomorrow."
He took off and headed in the direction of the hotel and Wendy watched him all the way as she slid the weapon back into her pocket. Nearly twenty minutes later someone stepped through the front door of the hotel and took a seat at one of the stools in the bar area. Whatever the cause of his fatigue and weakness, the affects had worsened.
"You don't look so good partner, can I get you something?"
"A glass of water." Clark replied.
He repositioned the glasses over his nose and ran a hand over his head.
"What is...something's not right."
The feeling was unlike anything he'd experienced, and though had small similarities to when he was exposed to kryptonite it was entirely different. The bar tender set glass of ice water down in front of him and Clark drank it all down in one gulp. He set the glass down over the countertop after finishing and that's when his ears picked up on a familiar voice, but the speaker was a good half mile from his position, and was only due to his super hearing he could detect it.
"Did you kill him?" A female voice questioned.
"No...the window of opportunity closed." Another replied.
"It's ok, we'll get our opportunity. Madam Red has requested me overseeing the factory, so I shall be on my way. If we cannot capture him, the madam has made it clear he dies. One of you keep an eye on and watch Redfox."
"Yes!" Both answered at once.
Clark immediately pushed up from the stool with wide eyes.
"Mirajane..." He murmured.
He identified the second voice as Wendy Marvell, but was uncertain of the third. Even so, the subject matter discussed between them was beyond impractical and knew he needed to investigate. The thought of reaching out to Black Canary did come to mind, but knew he could handle things himself so didn't. The bar tender and others throughout the room eyed him as he stepped through the front entrance. Once outside Clark caught a glimpse of the bright moon before removing the glasses and looked to a nearby alley. He took off in that direction and pulled open his shirt as he did so.
He exited out the opposite end and took to the sky in full armor and headed directly to where the conversation took place. Superman arrived quickly but by then the three had separated, but that wasn't an issue. With use of enhanced vision he peeked through the surrounding buildings and spotted Mirajane three blocks to the north side of town. She wore a dark blue dress and black boots. For the moment his intent wasn't to confront her, but rather observe. Something definitely wasn't right and he was fixated on getting to the bottom of it. Superman maintained a close distance between him and the female mage as he trailed her from up high.
That very trail soon came to an end as she stopped in front of a building, one in which read Craylo's Toy Funz. She used a key to enter and Superman waited nearly a minute, and when she didn't return he continued forward. The door was left unlocked so he just stepped through into the large space. The only light present was that of the moon that shined through the windows. Toys of all sorts were stacked over wooden shelves throughout. Things were much too quiet and Mirajane was nowhere in view. More than anything he questioned just who Madam Red was.
"Where did she g..."
Superman was bull rushed from behind and forced into a shelf of toys which tumbled down on impact. The strange sensation he'd felt since entering town was especially strong in that instant. He pushed up gazing at his hand with blurred vision as the one responsible for the attack stepped into the moon's light revealing herself. Supes turned as his vision became clear only to have his face met by a boot and sent several feet into another toy setup.
"Mira...Mirajane!" Superman said.
She stood in her Satan soul form.
"Yes, and good evening to you as well Superman." The female mage displayed a sinister grin.
"What is this all about," Superman stood upright, "I overheard your conversation. Why would you want to kill your own teammate?!"
Mirajane snickered.
"It isn't polite to eavesdrop on other people's conversations yah know."
The demon mage flapped her wings and flew forward punching at Superman who made no attempt to move or dodge. The strike sent him clear across the room and into another display, and it was in that moment he confirmed what he already knew. His strength was nowhere near what it should have been. Mirajane's physical strength could barely even cause him to budge, yet somehow he was being knocked around like a ragdoll. None of it made sense, and it all began the instant he stepped into Lawn Dawn.
"What's the matter," Mirajane slowly walked toward him, "Afraid to hit a woman?"
Superman looked her in the eyes and though he didn't know much about her, he knew she wasn't herself.
"I don't want to hurt you, if this is an act now's the time to drop it."
The man of steel pushed up but Mirajane shoved a boot over his chest and forced him back. She positioned her boots atop his wrists firmly and sat atop him.
"Well then, this makes my job a whole lot easier doesn't it?"
She created a dark powerful aura in her left hand but Superman easily forced her off him with the wave of his arms. The force sent her into a wall across the room in which she pulled out of. She flew forward and threw out a punch which Superman grabbed and applied heavy pressure over her hand. She screamed aloud and dropped to her knees. He released his hold of her and stepped back. Even in his weakened state she was no match for his physical strength.
"Mirajane tell me what..."
She hissed jumping up and throwing out kicks and punches, all of which were dodged. Superman peaked into her body organs and functions using his enhanced vision, and everything appeared normal and ruled out the idea the Mirajane before him was an android.
"Please Mira," Superman grabbed hold of her fists, "Talk to me...this isn't you! What happened?!"
Mirjane kicked off Superman as a missile was shot directly at them. Both managed to elude the projectile which instead exploded on contact with a machine and a massive fire started because of it. Superman immediately took action and hovered atop the flames putting them out with his ice breath. He then turned his attention back to the Mirajane who was...gone! No matter which direction he looked, and even with his enhanced vision she was nowhere to be found. He had no idea where the projectile originated from either. Supes scoured the entire factory in seconds before taking off out of the front entrance.
"What in the world is going on..." Superman thought to himself.
First was his decrease in strength, and now the inconcievable behavior from Fairy Tail. Nothing made sense, but with that he felt certain they were in the right place. The unknown enemy they were after was somewhere in town and felt members to Fairy Tail had been compromised somehow, all except one.
"I must update Canary...and warn Gajeel Redfox."
