A/N: Yeah, did I say I would work on a prompt this week? Sorry. Well, this one happened. It's a bit shorter than the previous chapters, but I think it turned out good. Tell me what you think of it!

Disclaimer: I do not own Rose or Tentoo. The chapter is titled after the Owl City song. The twins are mine.

"Jack?" Rose called over the sound of the blender.

Her son jumped and whipped around, the footstool he was balancing on rocking precariously. Rose could see now that he had smudges of whatever he was making all over his guilty face, and splatters on his maroon sweatshirt.

She held back laughter to ask, "What are you doing?"

"I woke up and nobody was home and..." He stammered, putting his hands in his sweatshirt pocket. "I panicked and decided to make a smoothie."

"I've only been gone a few minutes," Rose did laugh now, looking in amazement around the kitchen. Every cup they owned seemed to be sitting in a countertop or on the table, filled with Jack's concoction. "How long have you been up?"

"About that long," Jack said.

Rose laughed again. "You are so like your dad."

"Where are Dad and Donna?" Jack asked.

"They went off to get an early start setting up Donna's project," Rose explained. "It's Saturday, remember? Science Fair."

"Oh yeah," This didn't seem to improve his mood, but he was satisfied with the answer.

"You sure you don't want to go?" Rose asked again. While Donna had been ecstatic at the prospect, Jack had opted out. Rose didn't think that was like him, but she respected his choice and offered to stay with him at home.

"Yeah," he skated around the question with one of his own. "Where did you go?"

"Mels isn't feeling well," Rose said, "Mrs. Williams asked for help, she wanted me to show her what your Gran used to make when I had a sore throat."

"She okay?" Jack asked.

"Yeah, just a headcold," Rose said. She gestured to the cups scattered around the kitchen. "Alright if we tidy up some?"

"Good idea," Jack nodded. They began to gather the cups, and collected them on the table.

"How's this taste?" Rose asked, examining the thick violet-grey liquid in one of the cups.

"Uh," Jack grimaced. "Not very good."

"What'd you put in it?"

Jack muttered, "A little of this, a lot of that."

Rose couldn't stop herself from laughing.

"I was stressed!" Jack said defensively.

"I'm sorry," she apologized as her son's face reddened. "Oh, we'll probably have to go to the store, won't we?"

"Sorry," Jack mumbled.

"It's okay," Rose ran her hand through his dark hair, which stuck up just like his dad's. "Come on, let's clean you up and we'll go. It's all over your face!"

"Aw, Mum," Jack protested as Rose dragged him over to the sink. She held a washcloth under the tap until it was damp, then began to scrub the boy's face.

"How'd you get it all over you?" She asked.

"Didn't fasten the lid right," he answered.

"You're gonna have to throw this sweatshirt in the wash," she said.

"M'kay," he said.

"Are you alright?" She asked, setting the washcloth down and cupping her son's face in her hands.

"I'm fine," Jack said, pulling away.

"Okay," said Rose. "You just seem a little down, is all. Are you feeling alright?"

"I'm fine," he said again, but Rose didn't believe him.

"C'mon," she folded her arms.

Jack glared at his mother for a minute, then looked down at the floor. "I did enter."

"What?"

"I did enter the Science Fair," he clarified.

"Oh!" she said. "Oh, that's brilliant! But, why don't you want to go?"

"I got disqualified," he said quietly.

"What?" Her son, her Time Lord son, not get into a Science Fair? Ridiculous. "Why?"

"They didn't believe it was my work," he shrugged. "Or thought I was making it up. I dunno. I don't care. I'm– I'm gonna go change and we can go."

"Jack," he stopped when she called his name, but still didn't look at her. She moved closer, pulling him into her arms.

"It's okay," he said again, "there's an art thing coming up, I think and– and I can do that."

She kissed his forehead, smiling. "Yeah."

"I'm– I'll go change," he said.

"Okay," she said. "While we're out, you want to pick up some chips or something?"

His face lit up, finally, and Rose's heart lightened too. "Yeah!"

"And rent a movie?" She suggested.

His eyes sparkled. "Jurassic Park?"

"Why not?" She said. "Hurry up, we want to finish that up before your dad and sister get back."

Jack whooped and ran off. Rose sighed contentedly. She picked up a glass of Jack's smoothie, examining it curiously. She took an experimental sip, and immediately whirled around and spit into the sink. Oh, she needed to get that boy a recipe book or something, in case this happened again.
