AN - Sorry got a little carried away with this one and it could have been much longer but I thought I would leave it as it is and hopefully I will update the rest tomorrow! Enjoy!
"I guess we better go get ready to go Millie" I told her and she jumped up straight away. "Sarah you don't mind watching the boy's while I go get ready and get Millie dressed?" I added.
"Take you time, there's no rush" Sarah smiled. I went upstairs after Amelia and went and pulled a box out from the cupboard in the spare room, it's been in there since I left for the army and I will be surprised if any of it still fits me but it's worth a check and to show Amelia.
"Baby girl come in here a second" I called out to her and opened the lid of the box.
"What is it Mummy?" She asked as she came over to me.
"Have a look in here" I said pointing to the box.
"Wow Mummy they are beautiful like the ones on TV" Amelia said as she looked in the box full of brightly coloured dresses and sequins.
"They are ones from the TV. I used to be on TV in figure skating shows. I started when I was 14 and I had to give it up when I went away to the Army but when I had a break I would put on my skates and go do some skating alone." I explained pulling out some of the photo albums so she could have a look. While I got out a few of the dresses I know the ones I wore at 17 where likely to still fit but the others I had no chance.
"Mummy, I like this one it looks like it Mulan's dress" Amelia said pointing to a picture.
"That's because it is, I was 16 and played Mulan in one of the Disney on ice shows" I explained. "It was my favourite dress as well but Papa didn't like it much as it cost him lots of money" I laughed.
I looked in the box while Amelia carried on looking though the photos and I found the pale pink long sleeved Nylon leotard and the white Nylon skirt with red mesh. The top had a red trim around the V-neck with diamond designs and the sleeves had pale pink mesh covering the bottom with the same diamond design. It also had a blue waist band with gold stitching and a red ribbon around the middle with a beautiful two shades of pink water Lillie style flower to the left hand side. It was the most amazing dress I ever owned and even though you never have thought it, figure skating is what I did when I came back from being on tour with the army, it helped me to relax and unwind, no one ever knew it was me or what I did other than Dad, Jack, Lauren and Sarah. I never even told Dylan about it.
"Mummy I like this one too when did you wear this one" Amelia asked point to a dress I wore in the finals of a competition to find the best solo skater in the UK.
I never liked the dress much but it was one my coached picked for me. It was yellow dress with only one strap and it had these horrible sliver flowers going down it diagonally from top to bottom and as if that wasn't enough it was coved in sliver sequins. I gave that one to charity once I had finished with it!
Another one of my favourites which wouldn't fit me was I had this show when I was 15 when I was still ill was one that was a short skater style dress witch was camouflage print. It was used for a round of one of the competitions where we had to show off what line of work we wanted to go into. I was only just allowed to go and be part of that show on the requirements that I ate for the 5 days leading up to the show.
"What one should I wear today" I asked Amelia after I had laid 4 options on the bed. One Blue, One red, One Black and one orange. There wasn't much choice but I knew for sure that all 4 of these dresses would fit.
"I like the Red one Mummy" Amelia said smiling.
"You sure baby girl?" I questioned and she nodded, It was a red and black two in one strapless dress, the top half is red has a sweetheart neckline with a gold trim and gold diamonds on the dress and the bottom half is just a plan black skater skirt. I have a matching black long sleeved bolero to go over the top which also has a gold trim around it.
I put on my nude skating tights first as the dress has built in pants like most skating dresses. I then put on the dress which still fits perfectly.
"Mummy you look really pretty" Amelia said passing me over the bolero.
"Thanks baby girl, don't tell daddy though" I told her putting on a pair of black leggings and a red oversized jumper on top.
"Why not?" Amelia asked as I put the all the other dresses back into the box and pulling out my old ice skates, the blades are going to need sharpening but I'm sure they will do that at the rink for me.
"Because Daddy doesn't know I used to skate and I want to try and trick him" I told her and she just laughed. I also pulled out some red skate covers that are designed like cowgirl boots with a design on them. "Now how about we go see if you got any dresses you might want to wear" I added after putting the skate covers in with the skates in their bag.
"Okay Mummy but I want a red one to match yours" She said skipping off.
"Nanny's not made you any red ones but you have your Minnie mouse dress, how about that one its read and black like mine but you are going to need to where some black tights as well" I explained and there was no question as Amelia ran off to get in and then tried to put it on but got a little bit stuck so I had to help her out a little. I then put both our hair up in tight ballet buns before we went back down stairs.
"What took you so long, I know I said take your time but I didn't think you would take that long" Sarah joked.
"I was showing Amelia all the dresses and photos of the competitions" I explained and Sarah just smiled
"I did wonder if you still had the dresses" Sarah said as I took William off of her and she stood up with Oliver.
"Of course I do!" I exclaimed as we went and strapped the boys into the jeep. I then went back and helped Amelia put on her black ankle boots and put on a black quilted jacket before picking up the boys changing bags, my bag and then locking the door. I helped Amelia into her seat and strapped her in placed all the bags in the back and then got in to the car and started it up joining the long cue of non-moving traffic.
"Sarah, do you mind phoning Tom and just let him know we are on the way to pick him up" I asked and she nodded.
"I also need to phone Jack to ask him to meet me at the ED" She explained.
"Mummy can you jump and spin in circles on the ice like they do on TV?" Amelia asked.
"You will just have to wait and see" I teased her and William started to cry "Can you talk to him baby girl and let him know you are there" I added. I heard her start to tell him all about ice skating which was very cute and once the traffic started to move it wasn't long before we made it to the ED.
"Jack text me he said he's in the staff room with Tom" Sarah said as I cut the ignition.
"Great at least we don't have to go searching the ED for them" I smiled climbing out of the car and getting the boys pram frame out of the boot and setting it up before securing both car seats on and Amelia jumped out of that car.
"Right Amelia don't say anything remember" I said taking the boys bags out of the car and putting them on the pram. I then locked the car and we made our way into the ED Amelia skipping off in front and I was pushing the pram with Sarah walking next to me.
"Hey Babe, you didn't have to bring the boys and Amelia out in the cold just to get me" Tom smiled.
"Well we did and besides the boys are going to go back with Sarah and Jack for a few hours as me you and Amelia are going to go out" I explained and they both got confused.
"Sam it would have been nice to ask me first" Jack exclaimed.
"It wasn't my idea it was Sarah's she offered to look after them with you, I didn't know she hadn't told you" I said trying not to smile.
"Sarah" Jack just said shaking his head.
"Sorry babe, I didn't think you mind watching your nephews" Sarah said shrugging her shoulders.
"Of course I don't mind" Jack said.
"Right it's settled, come on Tom we need to get going" I explained and Tom got up taking Amelia's hand.
"I will see my two little men later then" I said going over to say good bye to them and then we all left the ED Sarah and Jack with the boys heading towards the park and me, Tom and Amelia going to the ice rink. It's been ages since I stepped foot in there I wonder if Jane still works there as a coach.
It was only a 15 minute drive to the rink from the hospital and Tom looked very confused when we pulled up.
"Why are we here, I can't skate to save my life" He said looking between me and Amelia.
"Well I promised Amelia before the holidays we would go skating and as it is nearly time for her to go back to nursery here we are, it's not like I'm any good at it" I said winking at Amelia.
"Can we go then Mummy" Amelia asked undoing her seatbelt.
"Of Course, come on babe" I said leaning over and giving Tom a kiss on the cheek. I got my bag from out of the back and then locked up the car. Tom came over and took my hand and we walked into the building.
"Afternoon, 2 adults and 1 child please" I asked the lady at the desk.
"Certainly that will be £19 please" She smiled and handed over the tickets as I paid, "If you just head down the corridor on your right you will find the changing rooms and where to collect your skates" She added.
"Thank you" I smiled as we made our way to the changing rooms, I can't wait to see Tom's face when I get on the ice!
