A/N: okay so I know I said that I would be uploading more frequently but I had so much trouble writing this chapter that it has literally taken me this long to get it out. Good news though in that time I have been working on future chapters that I have been thinking of for a while. I also had to start writing on my iPad as my laptop officially died and it took some getting used to but I find it is much more convenient.
The next week saw Sam spending an increased amount of time doing physiotherapy and as a result she was also sleeping more. She knew that she was pushing herself but she couldn't bare to think of a life where she might have to leave the Air Force before she is ready.
The injury to her chest would heal, despite leaving a pretty nasty scar it shouldn't affect her day to day performances. However her crushed hip would hinder her ability to pass the medical tests required to get back into active duty.
She had completely stopped trying to bring it up with anybody because they seemed very uncomfortable whenever she spoke of it.
Jack was still bringing Grace in to see her regularly and as a family they tried to eat most meals together. When Jack wasn't with Sam or Grace he was in meetings with Landry about things that he refused to fill Sam in in. She was starting to wonder if they have been trying to figure out what to do with her.
"Hey, you are in a world of your own there Sam."
"Huh? Oh sorry yeah just thinking."
"When isn't your brain in overdrive, not that I'm complaining. You heard any news about going home yet?"
Sam knew that everyone would have been filled in that Janet had agreed that so long as her bloods came back clear and she could sit up in the bed for more than an hour that she would be released the following morning under the watchful eye of her husband and Janet.
"Yeah tomorrow, so long as everything comes back fine tonight."
Obviously Cam knew that but the look on her face had definitely been worth it.
"You'll ace it, you mind if a few of us tag along to help you get settled?"
Sam couldn't help but smile at his southern charm.
"Of course not Cam you are always welcome."
The next morning everyone was up early for 'the big move' as it was being called, but to be honest Sam was grumpy, she was in pain, tired and just wanted to be able to go home and sleep in her own bed.
"You ready?"
Jack knew that she was beyond over the infirmary and the grey concrete walls that she had been staring at for the last few weeks and he was definitely excited to finally take her home.
"Yeah sure ya betcha." She replied dryly
They had her packed into a wheelchair, which if that wasn't embarrassing enough she still couldn't wear 'real' pants so she was in pajamas and a robe with a blanket covering her legs to keep out the chill.
Jack had decided that he would push her out and they were also accompanied by SG-1, Janet, Cassie and Grace. Like she wouldn't already attract a crowd but she had her own equivalent of Mardi Gras walking behind her.
A/N: I am at a crossroads here guys I am thinking about making the next chapter the last one for this story and then beginning a new story for the rest of the installments. They will take a very different turn of events from where I think most of you are thinking so I was hoping to get your opinion on it. I am also still working on the prequel and hope to get that up very soon, however I want to make sure it is done right so I am doing hours and hours of research on each episode from multiple sources before I move onto the next chapter.
