Summer - A Talk
The Headmaster of Hogwarts hummed to himself as he thought about what had happened that school year. A soft sigh left his lips as he remembered the incident that happened just before the school year had ended (which of course resulted in losing another Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher).
It was just as he expected. Voldemort had not died all those years ago.
The question is...how?
Hopefully, he would figure out everything before Voldemort could come back in full power.
Dumbledore sighed again, not liking how Harry had to go up against Voldemort himself. It wasn't a good feeling, knowing that no matter what, Harry and Voldemort would have to face against each other. All Dumbledore could hope for is that Harry would be properly prepared by then. And thus, he will help in any way he can. He hoped that nobody would play it off as him favoring Harry.
The man winced slightly, knowing that such a thing would not bode well with many.
Suddenly, a knock against his door snapped him out of his thoughts and he looked up, smiling. "Come in."
He watched as their most recent and youngest professor stepped in. The woman, Robin Nico smiled slightly as she walked up to him. "Good evening Professor Dumbledore."
Dumbledore nodded. "Good evening! Sit; let's talk over tea, shall we?" With a wave of his wand, he conjured up two cups and a tea set. Robin sat down and took a cup for herself after he poured the tea. However, he noticed that she had not sipped any at all. He gave no reaction that showed he noticed and instead took a sip of the tea himself, appreciating the flavor. "I'm surprised that you're still here, Professor Nico. I had assumed that you would have returned with the students yesterday. I believe you are still living with your godfather, correct?"
He watched in curiosity, noting that Robin had not twitched or done anything to give away anything.
The Headmaster remembered briefly how different this woman was now compared to when she was a child. She was so...distant as a child. Then again, she is still like that. However, as a child, she was so closed off, even to her own peers that even the Slytherins were afraid of confronting her. Many were especially afraid of her dark humor and emotionless smile. Often times, she would be found sitting by herself either reading or gazing at the lake with a saddened look. That was the only time there was even a glimpse of a child. While he originally assumed that she was sad because of her mother's death, he came to realize that there was something else as well. But one day before she had graduated in her seventh year, she was suddenly a little more...happy. There was a visible change in her demeanor that even the students that only known her for one year whispered and questioned about.
Of course, she was and is still closed off to many.
"Yes. I will be going home...however…I had hoped to have a talk with you before I would leave." She looked at him, her cup now placed back down and still full. She stared, waiting for him to say something.
"...Continue."
And she did. "What was Voldemort doing here in Hogwarts?" Now that was unexpected.
"I am not quite su-"
"Of course, besides the obvious; I know that he would want Harry dead. After all, that boy is the reason why he had been...reduced to nothing, not killed. After all, I doubt a mere baby could've killed a fully grown man. However, there must be something else that he wants here in Hogwarts, correct?"
The man sighed. "I am telling the truth when I am saying that I'm not sure. However, since Hagrid had told me about how a unicorn in the forest has died...I would assume that he was hunting for a unicorn's blood. And there was the Sorcerer's Stone."
"Which has been destroyed," Now how did this woman know?
"Yes." He peered at her through his glasses. "If I may say, I am surprised to find that you care for Mr. Potter." And that she knew so much without being told. "I had assumed that you were not...fond of interacting with many." There was no indication that the question bothered her. However, Dumbledore was slightly taken aback when she smiled.
"That's true. I do not care for Harry Potter very much." Now that's nothing really new... "However..." Dumbledore watched as that small smile suddenly became fond and she closed her eyes. "Luffy cares for him. And as such, I will watch over Harry Potter as well."
The Headmaster wasn't sure what to say about that.
Why on earth did Luffy's thoughts and decisions seem to affect this woman's own decisions?
It painfully reminded him how different the boy was compared to all of the other students he taught and instructed. He differed from his peers, much like how Tom Riddle had...though it was in a much more...complex way. Luffy D. Monkey...a strange boy that had a strange thought process, seemed to not care at all about the house separation and pretty much did things in his own way. He wasn't that intelligent (though the sorting hat did mention that while it was near impossible for the boy to be sorted into Ravenclaw, there was something else that surpassed the Ravenclaw students) and even common sense apparently didn't exist in the boy's mind. Another strange thing he noticed was that Luffy talked to everything. And he literally means everything, even the trees and rocks. There was a time, that Dumbledore saw Luffy talking to Flitch's cat too.
There was also the fact that he was strangely liked by Professor Snape...there had never been a Gryffindor who is liked by Severus. That in itself is baffling.
Lastly...there was something that Harry had told him when he woke up that day after everything with Quirrel, Voldemort, and the stone...something about how Luffy already knew that Professor Snape wasn't the one searching for the Sorcerer's stone despite how Harry and his friends had believed so. He told Dumbledore how Luffy had disliked Quirrel from the very first day.
Dumbledore suddenly had a sinking feeling that Luffy knew far too much than he showed...even more than Dumbledore himself knew.
"Well then, headmaster, thank you for your time. It's too bad we couldn't talk more but my godfather is waiting for me." He looked at Robin and saw a small smile on her lips and a knowing look in her eyes. It was as if she knew what he was thinking. He nodded to her, watching as she bowed slightly before turning and leaving the room. For a few seconds, he was silent while absentmindedly thinking about how throughout the entire conversation, Robin had not took a sip of her tea.
Kura: ...
Berry: ...Weird.
Kura: Yeah :P Well, this concludes our first…somewhat...summer drabble. I wanted to portray Dumbledore as...well...I'm not so sure :P
Berry: This kind of became different from how we imagined...
Kura: Yeah...who do you guys think Robin's godfather is!?
Berry: Might be obvious...might be not.
Kura: :3 Please send a review and tell me what you all think~
Berry: Now get back to your project.
Kura: Yes, ma'am.
