A/N I am so sorry for the long wait. I was suffering horrible writer's block. I should be back on track now. The next chapter will be up soon. I will be going back to make a couple changes as it was brought to my attention I made Lydia and kitty twins in the beginning. I forgot and have since changed my mind on that. I will be going back to fix this after I post the next chapter.
William's POV
I never thought I would fall for someone so stubborn. She is almost as stubborn as I am. At least I have figured out a way to distract her from any arguments we are having. I know it wont always work but i will take what I can get. I doubt she will ever let me forget that I "cheated", as she calls it, to win the argument about telling our family of the wedding. It was worth every bit of teasing she gives me though. I know she just wanted to not have to shop with her sisters. She told me that they can be very conniving when it comes to shopping. I was glad to see her promise Lydia sometime just the two of them. I haven't told Elizabeth but Georgiana told me that Lydia has looked to Elizabeth as a mother figure ever since Wickham first tried to hurt them. I sometimes wonder if we should offer to let her stay with us for a time. She may benefit from living with Elizabeth again and Georgiana now. They could help each other heal and move forward. The more I think about it the more I want to talk to Elizabeth about it.
"Elizabeth, I want to run something by you."
"Yes William, what is it?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to invite Lydia to stay with us for a bit, at least until things settle down with your mother. She seems to need you." When I looked into her eyes at this, she had tears in them but she was smiling as she replied, "Oh I was hoping you would be okay with her staying here for a short time. She seems to need time away from our childhood home now that she knows who our mother truly is. I was hoping it would be okay to invite her and Kitty though. I am not sure if you truly know, but Kitty is hurting just as much as Lydia, she just hides it a bit better. Lydia has always been mother's favorite since she is the youngest. We tend to forget how close Kitty and Lydia are and that Kitty was just as close to our mother as Lydia. Do you mind if they both stay for a short time? I think it would help Georgiana as well to have girls her own age to be with."
"I completely forgot that Kitty and Lydia were so close. Invite them both, I think it would be good for Georgiana, but remember she is staying in your apartment at the moment."
"She actually asked if she could move back in when classes ended. The lease on the apartment is up in a few weeks anyway so she would be back under your roof."
"I am relieved to hear that, but I will miss having the house to ourselves. I think that Lydia and Kitty need you though."
After our talk and both of us agreeing that Kitty and Lydia should stay with us for a bit, I decided to call up Charles and Richard so we could go find our suits for the wedding. After thinking for a little bit, I also called Mr. Bennet to have him join us. I know that we need to get to know each other a bit better and without the drama. With him agreeing to join us, we all met up to shop. I was a bit surprised by how well Richard and Mr. Bennet got on, but laughed when Richard called him Uncle Tom. I keep forgetting that they have known each other for awhile. The entire day Charles just kept looking over at me and shaking his head. I finally had to find out what was going on.
"Charles, what are the looks for?"
"I just can't believe you are getting married already. We met the sisters the same night and Jane and I haven't even talked about marriage. Yet here you and Elizabeth are about to walk down the aisle."
I just shook my head and laughed, "I guess this is where our differences show. I knew right away that Elizabeth was it for me, I was just waiting for her to see it too. As soon as she did, I proposed. It wasn't something that we even talked about much, I just knew and so did she. When it is right, why wait for the "appropriate" time?"
"I just can't believe that you are actually getting married. You have always been very reluctant to even talk with anyone and here you are getting married to a girl that seems to have changed your entire outlook on things. It is difficult to wrap my head around. You always seemed to take so much time to contemplate every action you take and here you are jumping in head first."
"Charles, believe it or not, I have known that I would marry Elizabeth shortly after I met her. She put me at ease with just one look. I had never felt so loved before. It is amazing really. She truly brings out the best in me." I was smiling by the end. It is true, Elizabeth just brings out the best in me. She is truly my other half. All my weaknesses are her strengths and my strengths seem to be her weaknesses. I never thought I would fall in love, let alone get married, but meeting Elizabeth changed all that. It is truly amazing for me and I can understand what Charles means. He knew that I had no intention of ever marrying and now I can't wait to be married to Elizabeth and start our lives together. Charles just shook his head but didn't say anything more. I took the opportunity to turn to Mr. Bennet and get to know him a bit better.
It still amazed me how similar Elizabeth and her father were. It is obvious that they are close and that she takes after him. For the rest of the fitting, I talked with Mr. Bennet and filed away many stories he told me about Elizabeth. Apparently she was a very exuberant child and caused her father many scares but not as many as she caused her mother. After everything we have discovered about Elizabeth's mother, I think that Mr. Bennet found new enjoyment in all the problems and worry that Elizabeth caused her throughout the years.
I think that Mr. Bennet still worries about what Fannie Bennet will do in the future, especially if she finds out about the wedding. I know that Elizabeth is worried about her mother finding out about the wedding as well. I am a bit worried about it but try not to let it show as it would just make Elizabeth even more anxious.
Once we have finished picking out the suits, I pulled Mr. Bennet aside and made sure it was okay to invite Lydia and Kitty to stay with us for the summer. He actually seemed relieved and agreed immediately.
"Darcy, those two are my babies and i want to protect them from all of the drama that is about to occur with the divorce being finalized. I was going to ask you and Lizzy if you would be willing to have them stay with you for a bit and it is a relief to have you ask me instead. Thank you"
I just nodded my head and directed him to the cars. It is only a little longer until I am married to the love of my life and her family, minus her mom, are going to be a huge part of our future for a long time.
