Ash's Pokemon Journey
Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user (He'll find out about being a psyphic and Aura user later). I do not own pokemon.
Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon don't exist.
Chapter 36
The Orphaned Tyrogues, Goldenrod City Gym
And Pokeathlon
The gang were on their way to a city called Goldenrod City so that Ash could earn his fourth gym there. "In the guide book," said Brock "Goldenrod City is the largest city in Johto". "That sounds marvellous," said Misty "I think I'll do a nice window shop there and sight see there". Ash figured that Misty was going to say that because Misty loved to sight see and look through shops. Just then Brock saw something in the guide book. "It says here that there is a day care center near Goldenrod City" he said. "Really?" asked Misty "then let's visit it before we go to Goldenrod City". "Yeah I want to visit too," said Brock "I would love to see some pokemon eggs". Tomo wanted to go too. Ash agreed to the idea; besides he hadn't seen pokemon eggs for a while ever since Togepi and his Eevees hatched.
They soon came to the day care center; it was a pretty smart building with a garden for pokemon to walk through. They introduced themselves to the elderly couple who ran it and asked them if they could see the pokemon and eggs. "Of course you younglings can" said the old man. "We are always happy to show trainers the pokemon and eggs we raise here" said the old woman. There were many baby pokemon in the day care center. There were a Wooper, a Togepi, a Spinarak, a Magby, an Elekid, a Teddiursa, an Aipom and a Sentret. There was also a ladybird type pokemon called Ledyba, a bug pokemon, and also two small pink pokemon that were dancing with each other. The old man explained that those two small pink pokemon were called Cleffa and Igglybuff. Ash found out on his pokedex that Cleffa was the pre-evolved form of Clefairy, and Igglybuff was the pre-evolved form of Jigglypuff. "Ahh these pokemon are so cute" said Misty. She didn't like Spinarak but she liked the other pokemon. Tomo started to play with the baby pokemon at once. "Do be careful with them Tomo" said Ash.
Next the elderly couple showed the gang a room where they kept pokemon eggs. There were shelves full of colourful eggs, all tucked up in nests. "Wow," said Ash "I've never seen so many pokemon eggs in one place in all my life". "Me neither" said Misty. Brock sighed in bliss; being surrounded with baby pokemon and eggs was a pokemon's doctor dream come true. "My wife and I love our job of caring pokemon eggs and raising baby pokemon" said the old man. "I understand why," said Brock "besides who wouldn't want to be surrounded by pokemon eggs and cute baby pokemon?" "What my favourite part is watching the pokemon eggs hatch" said the old woman. She was carrying a yellow egg, with a big black pattern, in her arms. "I know what you mean" said Ash. He told them about the times when his Dratini and two Eevees hatched from their eggs. Then Misty told them about the time when her Togepi hatched from her egg. "Hatching your own pokemon egg hatch is always a happy time for trainers" smiled the old man.
Suddenly the yellow and black egg in the old woman's arms started to glow. "Hey that means it's going to hatch" said Brock. The old woman placed the egg down on a table and both she, her husband and the gang watched as the egg started to hatch. The egg hatched into a small yellow pokemon, with black stripes, and it looked like Pikachu only smaller. "It's a Pichu" said the old man.
Ash looked at Pichu on the pokedex: Pichu, the tiny mouse pokemon. The pre-evolved form of Pikachu. The electric sacs on Pichu's cheeks are small. If it tries to store more electricity than they can hold, Pichu will shock itself.
"It's so cute" said Misty. Pikachu greeted his pre-evolved form and Pichu liked Pikachu at once.
Outside Team Rocket was spying on all the baby pokemon and pokemon eggs through the window. "Wow look at all of those pokemon eggs and baby pokemon" said Meowth. "They will make a good pokemon army for Team Rocket headquarters" said James. "Yes and we can keep some of them for ourselves," said Jessie "is everything set?" "Yes I got everything ready" said James.
The gang were enjoying looking at all the pokemon eggs and baby pokemon. Suddenly four grey pokemon that looked like small warriors entered the room. "Hello there Tyrogues" said the old man.
Ash looked at Tyrogue on his pokedex: Tyrogue, the scuffle pokemon. Although it is small, it has a very energetic body and always challenges larger foes.
"Are these four Tyrogues yours as well?" asked Ash. "Not really," said the old woman "in fact they don't have anyone except us to look after them anymore".
The old day care couple explained that the four Tyrogues did have a trainer before. "Their trainer asked us to look after them while he was away on a journey" said the old woman. "But before he returned home a terrible accident took his life," said the old man "so those Tyrogues are now orphaned pokemon". The gang were surprised by this story and felt sorry for the Tyrogues. "We have been taking care of them ever since," said the old woman "and they help us look after the baby pokemon and eggs. But we hope that they will end up with a new trainer soon". "That's right," said the old man "those four are becoming too big and strong for this place for baby pokemon". Ash took a good look at the four Tyrogues. "From the look of them, they look like they can pack a real punch" he said. The four Tyrogues stared at Ash. "What's wrong?" "Nothing's wrong Ash," said the old man "the Tyrogues always stare at the travellers that settle here, just in case they may do something bad". "Wow," said Ash "they make good guards despite being small".
The gang had lunch with the day care couple, while all the baby pokemon were having a nap and all the eggs tucked up in their nests. The four Tyrogues were keeping guard over the pokemon eggs and baby pokemon. "We thank you for letting us stay here for a bit" said Brock. "Think nothing off it," said the old man "we are always welcome to let travellers rest here for a bit". Ash was in thought; he kept on thinking about the Tyrogues. He didn't find it fair that the Tyrogues had to go through a terrible tragedy of losing their beloved trainer.
Suddenly they heard a crash coming from the room where the pokemon and eggs were. "What was that?" gasped Misty. The day care couple and the gang ran into the room, but found all the pokemon and pokemon eggs gone. The four Tyrogues were gone too. "Oh my, this is awful!" gasped the old woman. "Who on earth could have done this?" gasped the old man. "I think I have an idea who did this" said Ash, having a thought, "Tomo, Misty and Brock let's go after the crooks". "Let's," said Misty "stealing baby pokemon and pokemon eggs is terrible". "I agree" said Brock. "Let's go" said Tomo. The gang ran down the road to find the thieves who stole the pokemon and eggs, leaving the old day care couple behind at the day care center.
The thieves were of course Team Rocket and they had all the pokemon eggs in baskets and all the baby pokemon in cages. The four Tyrogues were in cages too. Team Rocket was admiring their captures. "We certainly got a good haul this time" said Jessie. "I'll say," said James "there are at least two dozen of pokemon eggs and twelve baby pokemon here". "Don't forget about the four Tyrogues," said Meowth "I must say though they did give us a lot of trouble back there". "They certainly did," said James "but Tyrogue are fighting type pokemon, so it's no wonder we had trouble with them". "Yes but thanks to my Cloyster and her supersonic attack, we were able to get them as well" said Jessie. Jessie's Cloyster's supersonic attack made the Tyrogues and all the baby pokemon confused. Being confused made them all easier to capture. The baby pokemon in the cages began to cry. "Quit your crying!" demanded Meowth "you are going to be part of Team Rocket, so you better toughen up".
What Team Rocket didn't know was that they were being spied on; Ash's Noctowl had found them. Noctowl flew back to the gang at once to show them the way. "You found them Noctowl?" asked Ash "Was it Team Rocket who stole the pokemon and eggs?" Noctowl chirped to say yes. "I knew it; I thought there was a chance that Team Rocket was behind this". "Seriously stealing baby pokemon and eggs is the lowest thing they have ever done" said Misty. "Let's go after them now" said Brock.
Team Rocket was just about to load the pokemon eggs and baby pokemon onto their balloon, when suddenly the four Tyrogues used rock smash to break the cage they were in. "Yipes those Tyrogue are lose" said Meowth. One of the Tyrogue spoke up. "It's saying release those baby pokemon at once. And if we don't then we will get hurt". Jessie and James started to laugh. "You think we are scared by your threats?" asked Jessie "think again". She released Arbok and Cloyster to battle the Tyrogues. James released Weezing and Victreebel to battle them. Jessie ordered Arbok to use headbutt and Cloyster to use ice beam. James ordered Weezing to use sludge attack and Victreebel to use razor leaf. The Tyrogues dodged the attacks and got ready to fight.
The gang arrived to see the Tyrogues just about to fight Team Rocket's pokemon. "Should we help them?" asked Misty. "Let's wait first," said Brock "those Tyrogues intend to fight Team Rocket to protect the baby pokemon and pokemon eggs". "For pokemon that are small," said Misty "they sure have big hearts". Ash watched the Tyrogues carefully to see what attacks they would use. Despite being small, the Tyrogues turned out to be strong battlers. The first Tyrogue used dizzy punch on Arbok, the second one used hi jump kick on Victreebel, the third one used mach punch on Cloyster and the fourth one used rapid spin on Weezing. "Wow those Tyrogues are good" said Tomo. "I agree," said Misty "they can really fight even though they are small". Ash was impressed by how strong the Tyrogues are.
Just then three of the Tyrogues started to glow. "I think those three Tyrogues are starting to evolve" said Meowth. Everyone watched as the three Tyrogue changed into three different pokemon. One was a brown pokemon with red boxing gloves, one was a dark brown pokemon with long legs and the last one was a brown pokemon, with blue patterns and a horn on its head. "The three Tyrogues evolved into a Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop" said Brock.
Ash looked at all of them on the pokedex: Hitmonchan the punching pokemon. The evolved form of Tyrogue. The arm-twisting punches it throws pulverize even concrete. It rests after three minutes of fighting. Hitmonlee, the kicking pokemon. The evolved form of Tyrogue. Its legs can stretch double. First-time foes are startled by its extensible reach. Hitmontop, the handstand pokemon. The evolved form of Tyrogue. It fights while spinning like a top. The centrifugal force boosts its destructive power by ten.
"Wow this is the first time that I'm seeing a Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and a Hitmontop all together" said Ash.
Team Rocket was amazed by this. "Look at that," said Meowth "it's the whole Tyrogue evolution line". "They will be perfect for Team Rocket" said Jessie. She and James were about to order their pokemon to attack, but Ash stepped forward. "You're taking any of this pokemon" he said. Tomo, Misty and Brock stepped forward. "That's right," said Misty "they don't belong to you". "And neither do the eggs" said Brock. "Oh great it's the twerps again" said Jessie. "They aren't going to get in our way this time" said James. They ordered their pokemon to attack. Ash sent out Pikachu, Tomo sent out Growlithe, Misty sent out her Staryu and Brock sent out his Vulpix. Together Pikachu, Growlithe, Staryu and Vulpix defeated Cloyster, Arbok, Weezing and Victreebel. To finish the battle off Tyrogue, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop sent Team Rocket flying with their punching and kicking.
The gang brought the baby pokemon and pokemon eggs back to the day care couple right away. "Oh we can't thank you kids enough for bringing back the pokemon and eggs safely" said the old man. "It was our pleasure" said Brock. "But of course we couldn't have done it without Tyrogue and its evolutions" said Misty. "Yeah they were amazing" said Tomo. Ash turned to Tyrogue. "Hey Tyrogue," he said "would you and your evolutions like to be my pokemon?" Everyone was surprised what Ash just said. "I thought you four were amazing when you battled Team Rocket. So I would like you to be my pokemon and fight alongside me in the Johto League". Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop looked at Tyrogue; apparently the Tyrogue, which didn't evolve, was their leader. Tyrogue stared at Ash and then spoke to him. "I see, you want to battle me first before I capture you and the others," said Ash "I accept your challenge".
Ash and Tyrogue went into the garden of the day care center to battle. Ash sent out his Noctowl to battle Tyrogue; since Noctowl is a flying type, he would have great effect on Tyrogue, a fighting type. Tyrogue charged at Noctowl using dizzy punch. "Dodge it Noctowl" said Ash. Noctowl flew up to dodge Tyrogues punches. "Now use confusion". Noctowl's eyes turned blue and fired a blue light at Tyrogue, causing it real pain. "Psychic moves are strong against fighting type pokemon," said Brock "Tyrogue doesn't stand a chance against that". Tyrogue got up and tried to use dizzy punch on Noctowl again. "Counter it with aerial ace" said Ash. Noctowl flew towards Tyrogue, with white streaks surrounding his body, and tackled Tyrogue really hard. Tyrogue got more hurt by that flying type move. "Okay time to capture you Tyrogue" said Ash, throwing a pokeball. The pokeball hit Tyrogue and in no time at all Tyrogue was captured. Ash then took out three more empty pokeballs and captured Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop.
Ash was happy with his four captures. "I have to say Ash," said Brock "you are the only trainer I know that has a Tyrogue and all of its evolutions. Mostly trainers only have a Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee". "I'm surprised myself Brock," said Ash "I mean they are hard to find in the wild". The old day care couple knew very well that Ash will take good care of Tyrogue and the evolutions.
Just then Aipom came out from the center and began talking. "What's wrong?" asked Misty. "I think another one of our eggs is about to hatch" said the old woman. Everyone ran inside to see the egg hatch. The egg that was glowing was a pink egg, with yellow and cream coloured patterns. The egg hatched into a pink and cream coloured pokemon, with yellow hair and big pink lips.
Ash looked at the pokemon on the pokedex: Smoochum, the kiss pokemon. The pre-evolved form of Jynx. It tests everything by touching with its lips, which remember what it likes and dislikes.
"It's so cute" said Misty. Tomo liked Smoochum and stroked her head. Once Smoochum felt Tomo's hand, she started to kiss him on the cheek a lot. Brock laughed. "Smoochum do that a lot once they found something or someone they like". "You like me then Smoochum?" asked Tomo. Smoochum kissed him again to say yes. "You can have Smoochum Tomo" smiled the old man. Tomo was surprised by what he said. "That's right," smiled the old woman "we always give away our baby pokemon to trainers who would love them and take care of them always". So Smoochum now belonged to Tomo, who was happy to have Smoochum.
The gang said goodbye to the old day care couple, with new pokemon for Ash and Tomo.
When the gang made it to Goldenrod City, they were amazed of how big it was. "Goldenrod City looks wonderful," said Misty "I can't wait to look around". "Me neither" said Brock. Ash thought it was a good idea to look around as well, besides he felt tired from their journey and so did Tomo. Ash and Tomo decided to go to the pokemon center to check their pokemon and rest. Misty and Brock decided to go look around the shops at once and said to Ash and Tomo that they would meet up later. Ash and Tomo agreed and went on their way to the pokemon center.
Before getting near to the pokemon center, Tomo noticed a shop selling milk, cheese, yogurt and ice cream. "Hey big brother, what's that?" he asked. Ash looked at the shop. "That must be a shop where they sell moomoo milk and dairy products made from it," said Ash "moomoo milk is from Miltank and its good for both pokemon and humans". The two brothers decided to check it out; they and Pikachu and Growlithe tried a sample of moomoo milk and they found it very delicious. They also tried the ice cream and found that delicious as well. Then they went to the pokemon center to heal up.
An hour later Misty and Brock turned up at the pokemon center and gave their pokemon to Nurse Joy for a check-up. Brock brought more medicines and food. Misty brought cute charm bracelets and necklaces that had water pokemon decorations. "So Ash, have you decided on what pokemon to use for your gym battle?" asked Brock. "Well I found out that Whitney, the gym leader, uses normal type pokemon," said Ash "so it's best to use fighting type pokemon. I am going to use Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Togetic". "Seems a good idea to me" said Brock. Misty and Tomo agreed.
That afternoon, the gang arrived at the Goldenrod Gym. Goldenrod Gym was a plain dome building, with a pink roof. A pink haired girl with a Clefairy by her side was standing outside the gym. "Hi there," she said "are you here to challenge the gym?" "Yes I am," said Ash "are you the gym leader Whitney?" "Yes I am", said Whitney "and I accept your challenge". Inside, the gym was just a plain battleground, nothing special or decorative. The referee gave out the introductions of the battle between Ash and Whitney and that it was a three pokemon battle.
Whitney began the battle with a Sentret and Ash sent out Togetic. "Okay Sentret use swift" said Whitney. Sentret shot yellow stars from its mouth towards Togetic. "Use safeguard Togetic" said Ash. Togetic glowed blue and a blue force field surrounded her, repelling the swift attack. "Okay Sentret tackle that Togetic" said Whitney. Just as Sentret was charging at Togetic, Ash ordered Togetic to use extrasensory on Sentret The extrasensory caused great damage to Sentret, and then Ash commanded Togetic to headbutt Sentret. Sentret fainted in a second after being head-butted.
Whitney returned Sentret and sent out Clefairy to battle. As soon as Clefairy went onto the battlefield, it began to wave its arms about. "Oh no it's going to use metronome," said Ash "Togetic you use metronome too, but be careful of what Clefairy does. You never know what attacks metronome decides to do". Togetic waved her arms to perform metronome was. Just as Togetic started to wave her arms, Clefairy started to perform an attack. Only thing was that the attack turned out to be splash attack (Clefairy was imitating Magikarp). Then Togetic performed an attack by metronome; her attack turned into dynamic punch. Togetic punched Clefairy really hard and sent it flying. When Clefairy picked itself up, it ran back to Whitney. Apparently this Clefairy was a bit of a coward, so Ash won this round because Clefairy forfeited.
Ash thought that this gym battle would be a bit too easy to win. He preferred battles to be challenging. "This isn't over yet Ash," said Whitney "because I still have one tough pokemon that you have to beat". Her last pokemon was a Miltank. 'Since she uses a Miltank in gym battles,' Ash thought 'I'm guessing this Miltank is no push over". Ash was right; Miltank was using a move called rollout and it proved to be trouble. Miltank was rolling around the battle arena nonstop and Togetic was finding it hard to fight Miltank like that. Just then Togetic got hit really hard by the rollout attack and fainted. 'Oh man,' thought Ash this may be tough than I thought'.
Ash returned Togetic and sent out Hitmonchan next. Miltank began rolling around again. "Okay Hitmonchan, hit that Miltank with dynamic punch" said Ash. Hitmonchan's right fist glowed white and Hitmonchan tried to punch Miltank as hard as he could. With Miltank still rolling, it was a bit tricky for Hitmonchan's punch to actually work. "Try to use thunder punch" said Ash. Hitmonchan's left fist glowed yellow, with static electricity around it, and Hitmonchan punched Miltank hard with his electrical fist. At first it didn't seem to do much to Miltank because she was still rolling on, but then a static shock made her stop rolling and flinch a bit. "I think Miltank is paralyzed" said Misty. "Thunder punch does that sometimes," said Brock "it can make an opponent paralyzed, like fire punch can burn the opponent and ice punch can freeze the opponent". Whitney told Miltank to use rollout again, but the paralysis made it difficult. "Okay Hitmonchan finish it with mach punch" said Ash. Hitmonchan's right fist glowed blue and then it punched Miltank very hard. Miltank fainted after that last punch. "Miltank is unable to battle," said the referee "so the winner of this gym match goes to Ash". Ash ran up to Hitmonchan and butted fists with him. "You were great Hitmonchan" he said.
Whitney walked over to Ash, with Clefairy and Miltank beside her. "I have to say Ash that was a great battle" she said. "I have to admit your Miltank is pretty strong" said Ash. "Well Ash I shall now give you the Plain Badge" said Whitney, showing it to Ash. The Plain Badge was yellow and in the shape of a plain diamond. Ash took it from Whitney and Tomo, Misty and Brock congratulated him.
With the gym battle over, the gang said goodbye to Whitney and left the Goldenrod City Gym.
After obtaining the Plain Badge, Ash and the gang had one more look around Goldenrod City before they left. They even had the chance to meet the famous DJ Mary in the Goldenrod Radio tower. DJ Mary was a famous radio host and she was also an acquaintance of Prof Oak. She and Prof Oak always held talks about pokemon on the radio together. Now the gang was all ready to leave Goldenrod City. Just then Misty noticed a sign on a wall. "This sign is about pokeathlon," she said "and it says that you get a prize if you win an event". "Why don't we enter the pokeathlon?" asked Ash "besides this may be our only time to try it while we are in Johto". "I agree with that idea," said Brock and who knows? We might even win a prize". Misty liked the idea of entering too. Tomo was a bit young to enter, but he wanted to check out the pokeathlon too. So the gang all decided to go to the pokeathlon.
The pokeathlon was located next to a park called National park, and it was held in a big domed building. Outside the pokeathlon dome where was a stand that sold aprijuice. Brock checked out the aprijuice and learnt how to make aprijuice using an apriblender and different coloured apricorns. He also learnt the different flavours of each aprijuice; red was spicy, blue was dry, yellow was sour, green was bitter and pink was sweet. Brock was fascinated by this and thought about buying an apriblender in the future for himself.
The gang went inside to sign up for the pokeathlon events. There were ten events and each trainer had to pick three events and one pokemon for each event. And the trainer that gets the highest scores after the three events get to choose their prize. The prizes were a bag of apricorns a king's rock or an evolutionary stone. Ash signed up for the hurdle dash, lamp jump and disc catch events, and he chose Pikachu, Sentret and Tyrogue for the events. Misty signed up for the goal roll, snow throw and pennant capture events, and chose Gloom, Poliwhirl and Staryu for the events. Brock signed up for the block smash, circle push and ring drop events, and chose Geodude, Sandslash and Vulpix for the events. Tomo went into the stadium seats to watch all the events, and Misty left her Togepi with him.
Soon it was time for the events to begin. Ash was up first with the disc catch event; an event where the pokemon had to catch many flying discs as possible. Tyrogue had no trouble of catching the discs that came at him and Ash won that round in a second. Next came Misty's first event; the goal roll, which was an event where the pokemon had to kick balls in the net to score a goal, and Gloom won that for Misty easily with her feet. The block smash event, an event where a pokemon had to smash many blocks as it can, was easy peasy for Brocks Geodude, and Brock won.
Very soon all the pokeathlon events were finished with. Ash, Misty and Brock won all of the three events they entered and got to choose a prize for themselves. Brock chose a bag of apricorns so he could make his own aprijuice. Ash chose an everstone, so he could use to stop Tyrogue from evolving; Tyrogue didn't want to evolve into any of its evolutions. Misty chose a king's rock, so that she could use it to evolve her two Poliwhirls in the future. She learnt from her book of water pokemon about Poliwhirls evolving into Politoeds from a king's rock; Politoed was a big green frog type pokemon. Misty thought that Politoed looked really cute, so she wanted to evolve her two Poliwhirls into that.
With the pokeathlon all finished with, the gang left the area for their next adventure.
The day care center in this chapter is based on the day care center players arrive at, before entering Goldenrod City, in the games. The Tyrogue knowing dizzy punch is based on the pokemon you get after you get the odd egg in the pokemon crystal game. Tomo's Smoochum knows dizzy punch as well; I got Smoochum from the odd egg one time. I thought it was ridiculous that Whitney had a Nidorina in the anime, even though she never did in the games, so I decided to change her first pokemon to Sentret, which is a normal type. I decided to add in the pokeathlon events because I enter that all the time on my heartgold game.
