A/N: Sorry I didn't upload this earlier today, I saw Age of Ultron and I just got on the computer to edit this chapter.

The next day, Valka woke up only to find her son sleeping in his crib. She smiled watching her son dreaming. She reached her hand out and brushed her fingers on his head. The child reacted to her touch, but then he sighed and relaxed. Valka let out a chuckle watching her son's chest rise and fall in an unsteadily rhythm. She was terrified to turn around then turn back to find him no longer breathing.

She heard a knock at the door and she called out for them to enter. "Valka, I got you something for your son." She heard her mother as she walked in. Valka saw her mother walking in with a piece of brown cloth in her hands. Mrs. Jorgenson unfolded the cloth to reveal it. "It's a sling, that way you can carry him without your hands."

Valka smiled and hugged her mother. "Thank you, you have no idea how much I need something like this." She beamed receiving the sling. She put it on then picked up her son gently. She gently put him in the sling and he started to move. Valka watched her son moving his eyelids; she put her hand under him to give him support. What she saw was what every mother wanted to see.

She watched her son opening his eyes for the first time. Valka let out a light laugh and pulled him closer to her. "Oh you cute little boy you!" she cheered before he shut his eyes again. Her smile grew when she lifted her head up to her mother. "Did you see him? He opened his eyes for the first time!"

Her mother gasped and stepped closer to look at her grandson. She noticed they were closed, but he tried to open them again. "Oh, he won't open his eyes for me! Did he have them open long enough for you to what color they were?"

Valka smiled before answering. "Green, he has green eyes."

Stoick put more firewood in The Great Hall. He walked back out to get more, only to find his friend outside on the stairs.

"Morning Stoick," Gobber greeted.

"Morning, but shouldn't you be at The Forge?"

"Yeah, but I wanted to see how you were doing. You know, with all the yelling you did yesterday…." Gobber mumbled.

"You know I wasn't angry with you-"

"It sure seemed like it, but I'm sure I would have too if I was in your situation." Stoick let out a sigh and started to walk down the stairs. Gobber followed and put a hand on Stoick's shoulder pad. "Listen friend, I know this must be hard for you. I can only imagine-"

"Gobber, there is no need to say those words. My son will live."

"Stoick, you and I both know-" before Gobber could finish his statement. Stoick covered his mouth and pointed to the horizon.

"What does that look like to you?" Gobber shoved Stoick's hand away and looked at the horizon. He noticed darkness far outside of the island.

"Um, they look like storm clouds."

"It's too cold for rain…"Stoick mumbled to himself.

"Should we warn the others?"

"No, not yet, let's see if it will pass us. Until then, keep an eye on it." Stoick ordered before they ran down the stairs.

Hours passed and the dark clouds were drawing closer. Stoick announced everyone to go home and start their fires. When everyone returned home, the clouds set over their island and the winds started to blow. Stoick looked out from the door way and saw snowflakes starting to fall. He shut the door and walked back inside to find his wife sitting by the fire with their son. "How's he doing?"

Valka held him closer and looked up at her husband. "He's shaking like a leaf, and he's going to get worse."

He let out a sigh and sat next to them. He looked down at his son and saw his lip quivering. Stoick put his hand under his son's head and his wife handed him over. Stoick felt him shaking in his hands, he held him closer trying to stop it. Valka got up from the floor and ran to their room. She walked out holding her old fur vest. Stoick knew what she was planning, she put the vest on the floor and Stoick placed Hiccup on it. Valka wrapped him up tight in it then held him close to her chest.

"Do you think he'll make it?" she muttered feeling her son shivering.

"He will," Stoick proclaimed as he wrapped all of them up in a blanket. Valka looked down at her son and kept clutching him to her. She couldn't tell if he was warming up, she could still see his lip quivering and his arms shaking. She kept pushing his arms in the vest and blanket when it will slide off. Stoick took off his fur cape and put it around his son. Hours passed and the storm was getting stronger. The wind was whistling threw the cracks of their house and the fire was dying. Stoick threw more firewood in the pit then wrapped his wife in a separate blanket. At night fall, the temperature dropped and the child was still shaking.

The couple was growing tired, but the worry of their son kept them up. Valka's head was falling forward, but she caught herself and blinked her eyes. "Val, if you need to sleep-"

"No, I have to stay awake." She mumbled feeling her eyelids getting heavy. Stoick let out a sigh and got up leaving the blanket on the floor. He walked into the bedroom and picked up the pillows from the bed. He walked back to the front room and put the pillows on the floor. Stoick took the child from her arms and pointed to the pillow with his free hand.

"Val, you can go to sleep. I'll watch over him."

"But-"

Stoick narrowed his eyes at her. Valka let out a sigh and rested her head on the pillow. Stoick heard her light snoring after few seconds of rest. He sat next to her facing the fire pit. He looked down at his son and saw him shaking less. Stoick placed his son next to his wife and put more fire wood in the pit. He lay down next to her having Hiccup between them. Stoick put the blanket over the three of them and they slept as the storm passed.
