I have to thank TheBookWorm3 for beta reading this chapter. I hope you enjoy the chapter.
"Someone get them!" Hercules cried, gripping his nose.
"Will that really do any good?"
"She must know all about the moonies. We can make her tell us," Hercules reasoned.
Several people ran off in the direction Elsa and the others had gone.
The four girls in question had made the bad decision of running down a hallway that led to a staircase. Even with Rapunzel and Merida on either side of her they were making slow progress up the stairs. Anna was bringing up the rear, alternating between examining her hand and glancing worriedly over her shoulder. They could hear the footsteps behind them.
"There's a point when the rivalry becomes insane," Merida said.
"We passed that point a long time ago." Rapunzel replied. They finally made it to the top of the stairs, but as they did Tinkerbelle, Vidia and Fawn appeared at the bottom of the stairs.
"There they are!" Fawn cried.
"Oh no," Anna groaned. The three girls bolted up the stairs two at a time. The four at the top froze, until Fawn grabbed Anna's hand, pulling her forward.
"Come on, we know where you can hide," Tinkerbelle said. She and Vidia gently, but hurriedly pushed Elsa, Rapunzel and Merida forward.
"Wait…you're helping us?" Merida asked.
"Hiccup would hate me if he found out I could help you and didn't," Tink replied.
"You know Hiccup?!" Merida exclaimed.
"It's a long story," Tink said. Ahead of them, Fawn and Anna had disappeared into a room. Vidia ran ahead and held the door open for Elsa. Tinkerbelle pushed Merida and Rapunzel in ahead of her. She glanced over her shoulder, double checking that hallway was clear, and closed the door.
They were in small room, with two large shelving cabinets, filled with tools, two by fours and other materials.
"Where are we?" Merida asked.
"Storage room for the inventors club." Tink explained. "Only Hiro and I have keys and we're both sympathetic to your situation."
"You knew didn't you?" Elsa asked.
Tinkerbell shrugged, "I had my suspicions. I'm sure Belle knows too."
"How do you know Hiccup?" Merida asked.
"We work at Maurice's shop together with Hiro."
"Isn't that Belle's father's place?" Rapunzel asked.
"Yeah. It's a great way to get hands on experience we can't get anywhere else. We're not best friends or anything, but we get along well enough. He's not such a bad guy, there are worst moonies to hang around,"
"Don't I know it," Elsa laughed.
Vidia, who was standing by the door put a finger to her lips. They heard several footsteps run pass the door.
"Thanks for helping us," Anna said. "Herc probably isn't too happy with me right now,"
"You're still holding your hand," Elsa noted, "Let me see,"
"Elsa I'm fine."
"Let me see," Elsa puller her sister closer, gently holding her hand in her palm. Carefully she moved her index finger and Anna flinched. "Don't tell me you sprained something…or worst."
"I don't think I punched him hard enough to break anything."
"Why'd you have to punch him in the first place?"
"You heard what he was going to say."
"I agree with Anna," Vidia said. "Are you crazy for dating a moony? Yes. Do you deserve to get crap for it? No. He deserved that punch and by the way, nice right hook."
"Thanks," Anna smiled.
"I wish I'd done it," Merida said, "But at least someone shut up the all-star."
"No offence, but I would have pegged you as someone to be hunting for Elsa," Fawn said to Merida.
"I almost was. When I first found out I didn't talk to her for days."
"Oh, so that's what that was about!" Tinkerbell snapped her fingers.
"Yeah, but we talked it over. And from previous experience with moonies I know they're not all evil spawn."
"But there are some that are evil spawn?"
"Shrek definitely. I'd bet my bow he was put on this earth to cause trouble for Disney."
A knock on the door made them jump.
"Tink, it's me," A soft voice sounded.
"That's Peri." Vidia opened the door and Periwinkle, Slivermist and Iridessa walked in. Peri was holding a small lumpy bag which she passed to Elsa.
"We saw the punch, and I figured you would need that," She said to Anna. Elsa realized the bag was an ice pack. She pressed it gently to Anna's knuckles and her sister sighed.
"Thank you Peri," Anna said.
"Don't mention it. I have a sister who's hot headed too. I know how it is." She winked.
"Hey!" Tinkerbell fumed.
"So how does it look out there?" Fawn asked.
"Most people are confused. Quite a bit are looking for you four."
"We can't just hide in here forever," Elsa said.
"Or could we?" Anna suggested.
"No," Elsa replied.
"Not forever forever, just until school's over."
"And then what come and hide in here tomorrow?"
"We could hide somewhere else," Anna supplied.
"Anna…"
"I'm just suggesting,"
"Elsa's right we can't hide in here forever…but maybe until we hear less screaming of our names coming from the halls," Rapunzel said.
"We'll go scout for you. Once we think it's safe, we'll come and tell you," Fawn said. She, Slivermist and Iridessa left the room.
Elsa's phone received a message. She read it and sighed.
"Jack." She answered the other's unasked question.
"Is he having as fun a day as us?" Anna peered over Elsa's shoulder.
"Hanging out on the gym roof with Hiccup. Would be nice if Shrek and his posse weren't trying to get up," Elsa read.
"Yep, just as much as fun as us," Anna concluded.
"Why can't he date who he wants?" Hiccup yelled over the side of the building.
"There are plenty girls here who want to date him!" Alex yelled back.
"But he doesn't want to date them!"
"Dude, Elsa's holed up in a closet," Jack laughed. He frowned for a moment when the trap door to roof shook, but the pipe they'd jammed in the handles held.
"Why are you texting Elsa? You should be helping me convince them to stop chasing us."
"We're safe up here. And a teacher should come soon enough," Jack said, he glanced at his phone as he got another message, "Elsa says Tinkerbell says hello. She's the Disney chic I met that day right?"
"Tinkerbell is with Elsa?"
"Apparently."
"WHY WOULD HE DATE A MOUSE?" Shrek yelled up.
Jack sighed and got up, walking to edge of the roof, "Because she's hot! Among other reasons!"
"Toothiana is hot!"
"She's my friend!"
"But you dated her before!"
"And it didn't work out!" Jack sat back down on his bag choosing to ignore the rest of their cries. Hiccup looked between Jack and people below for a second before walking over and sitting next to Jack.
"So we just hold up here until a teacher comes?"
"That was the plan wasn't it?"
"Tell Elsa to say thanks to Tinkerbell for me. I'm happy she's with her, or with us rather,"
"You know I'm surprised Snotlout and the twins aren't down there either," Jack said as he typed.
"I'm surprised too…uh, dude you still have some potato salad in your hair."
"Still?" He groaned, combing his fingers through his hair, "I thought I got all."
"Should we be proud that we're the cause of the best food fight of the year?"
"We probably shouldn't be…but I still am," Jack laughed. Hiccup joined in.
"How much trouble do you think we're going to get in for coming up here?"
"Two weeks of detention, at least."
"I really hope she's worth it," Hiccup teased.
Jack only laughed, when he got a message a few moments later he said, "Tinkerbell wants you to show her something mods you did to your bike as thanks."
"I would have done without provocation, Hiro was asking about it too. Apparently one of his friends is a genius with engines. He was going to ask her to come with him to the shop."
"How'd you end up friends with them anyway? You never told me how you got involved with all that."
"It's not much of a story," Hiccup shrugged, "Dad shut down one day and I was with him, and that was the closest mechanic. While there I showed interest in the mechanics of it all, and Maurice told me about a friend of his daughter who came around to work for some hands on experience and said I was free to come if I wanted too. So I went the next week and met Tink. We didn't even discuss school so we didn't know right away who we were dealing with. It didn't come up until about five weeks later."
"That long?"
"Hey, we talked about engineering stuff mostly. Anyway, by the time it did come up we were already pretty good friends and it felt stupid to stop hanging just because of that, especially since we'd learned a lot together. A short while later Belle found out, but she didn't seem to care. She said what we do outside of school is our business."
"Why can't more people get that argument?"
"And Tink brought Hiro with her a couple months later and he was cool with it too, even if he did give off a superiority complex. But I'm sure that's because he's got like a 180 IQ or something, and not because of what school he goes too."
"Why can't everyone be like that?"
"Our lives would be much easier right now," Hiccup ripped out a page from a notebook and wrote 'Shut it! We're trying to have a conversation!'. He crumpled it into a ball and tossed over the side of the building. There was moment of quiet before the shouts started up again. Jack and Hiccup sighed together.
A few minutes later they heard Mr. Peabody's voice.
"Ah, our knight in a suit and tie is here," Hiccup said.
"I'm pretty sure knights don't give out detentions to their would be saviors."
"No, we're not saviors," Hiccup corrected, "He's our savior,"
"Then what would we be?"
"Uh…I'm not sure…savees? Is that a word?"
"I don't think so."
"Someone who is saved…savee sounds like the word for that."
"But I've never heard that word before."
They continued discussing this until all the students had been sent off and they received their detentions.
"Hey Mr. P, is savee a word?"
"Not in any language I know off."
"Then what would you call someone who was saved by someone else?"
"Mmh," Peabody rubbed his chin in thought, "Survivors."
"Nah, doesn't work in the context," Jack said.
"It kind of does," Hiccup said.
"In a way," Jack said, "But not really."
"Yeah, not really. Thanks anyway Mr. P."
"Okay then boys…"
"Peri said Mr. Oswald has stopped the man hunt for us," Tinkerbell said looking at her phone.
"So does that mean it's safe to go out?" Anna asked.
"Class is going to start in a couple minutes anyway. We're going to have to leave."
"So, let's go."
Hesitantly they came out of the room. There were a few people but they did nothing more than whisper. Then suddenly…
"There you are!"
The all jumped. Kristoff and Flynn strode towards them.
"We've been look for you all day."
"Guys, can you not?"
"How do you expect us to protect you if we can't find you?"
"What?"
"We can be mad at you, but that doesn't mean we're just about to let everyone try to get at you."
"Ah…"
"Are we going to class or not?"
The girls looked at each other and then nodded to the boys.
They got down another hallway before they found their way blocked, this time by Snow White, Aurora and Cinderella.
"Elsa," Snow said, "Did you know about that prank with the pigs?"
"No, of course not."
"But you were the one who figured out there were only four pigs."
"That was because…" Elsa flattered, not sure what to say. Jack had been the one to tell her that, but it had been after the pigs were running around.
"If she were in on it, why would she have told us that there were only four pigs?" A voice said behind Elsa. She left a hand on her shoulder and looking up she was only mildly surprised to see Ralph. Snow White frowned.
"He has a point," Cinderella said.
"Now, if you ladies don't mind, Elsa's going to be late for class," Ralph said, gently walking forward with his arm around Elsa.
"Ralph?"
"Yeah?"
"What are you doing?"
"What does it look like? I'm walking you to class."
"Why?"
"Do I need a reason to walk with my friend to class?"
"Given the current circumstances…yeah, you do,"
"I'm not hoping to get back together or anything if that's what you're thinking."
"Then why are you here?"
"Look, I don't care if you're dating Jack Frost. That's between you and him. But, the fact that there are some people who actually think you could be on any other side other than Disney's are crazy. And I don't like the way someone people are talking about you. I figured no one would try anything if I was around."
"Hey, we were fine protecting her," Flynn said.
"I'm not saying you won't." Ralph smiled, "But an extra hand or two never hurt, did it?"
Elsa chuckled softly, "You're still are sweet as ever Ralph."
"Yeah, sometimes I wonder if I'm too sweet," Ralph joked.
"That's not possible. Its part of who you are," Elsa smiled at him, "One of the things that made me like you so much. Still one of the reasons why I like you."
"I'm not walking to fast for you, am I? With the crutches and everything?"
"No, this pace is fine."
"Good."
"Ralph?"
"Yeah Elsa?"
"Thank you."
"Don't mention it."
You know what occurred to me while writing this chapter? Vidia and Meg are very similar. It's not really important, but I was thinking they'd get along. And that has been a look into the random ramblings from the mind of Nardragon. Please feel free to ignore my useless thoughts.
Nardragon~ until the next page.
