Chapter 38 - Good
Emily stood there staring at Caleb who stared back at her. Same girl?! Emily shook her head trying to figure out how she didn't see that coming but now it makes sense how Hannah reminded him so much of the girl who broke his heart. They both had the blonde hair and blue eyes along with wanting to be popular/queen B although Hannah was much nicer. She looked at Hannah then rubbed her temples and closed her eyes. "No wonder you gave Hannah a hard time" She whispered with a little smile on her face but then realized that she just gave Ali info or in her case ammo. She instantly regretted it as she opened her eyes and letting them fall back on Ali who was smirking at them. Oh fuck. Emily closed her eyes and winced a little as she felt a glare on her but couldn't tell if it was from Maya or Caleb. Yep, that was my bad.
"Hannah?" Ali looks at Hannah who was glaring at her. She chuckled a little, "So, you replaced me with a lookalike." Seeing the hurt flash in Hannah's eyes as she looked over at Caleb. Caleb's eyes grew wide as he looks over at her.
"That's not true, Hannah" Caleb says pleading with her to listen to him and not Ali. "You're nothing like her" Everyone was quiet as Maya was trying to figure out how to move the attention away from them.
"You sure about that, Caleb?" Ali asked with a smirk,
"Shut it, Ali." Caleb glared at her and it reminded Emily of when Maya stared hard at Lucas that one day when she found out how he tried to blackmail her. "Babe-" Caleb says as he goes to Hannah,
"How does it feel, Hefty Hannah?" She shook her head with mock sympathy, "That he's only dating you because you look like me"
"Knock it off, Ali" Spencer said but Ali stayed looking at Hannah, "You don't know what you're talking about"
"Do you wanna drown your sorrows in sweets knowing that he doesn't like you for you but because you remind him of me?" Ali flashed a fake sympathy smile to Hannah, "Then run to the bathroom?" Hannah took a step forward before being held back by Spencer and Aria.
"Enough, Dilaurentis" Ali brought her gaze to Maya's before smirking,
"And you" Maya tilted her head waiting for Ali to continue, "How does it feel to have my leftovers?" She smirked while crossing her arms over her chest. Oh no.
"Amazing." Maya smirked, knowing Ali wasn't expecting that. "but it seems like you're trying to get seconds though" Maya pulled Emily by her sweater. Emily's eyebrows raised up, "Sorry, but I don't let things go to waste" Ali narrowed her eyes, as Maya places her lips softly on Emily's. Emily sighed with content. Hell yea she's not mad at me anymore!
"History has a way of repeating itself" Maya pulled away nodding her head and looking at Ali, "It always does" Emily's arms were around Maya's waist as she now stood behind Maya.
"I know but history already repeated itself and we learned from it so it doesn't happen again" Ali glared as she watched Emily rest her chin on Maya's shoulder before placing a kiss on Maya's neck. "It's all part of growing" Of all people, Maya happened to move to Rosewood and date Emily. She disliked Maya in California but now it was more a hate towards her since the one thing Ali wanted she had, which was Emily. Maya smiled at her knowing that she was winning this battle, "Maybe you should stop while you're ahead". Ali smirked and then turned her attention to Caleb knowing that would upset Maya,
"Caleb"
"Back off, Ali" Ali smirked seeing the fire in Maya's eyes.
"And if I don't, what are you going to do?" Ali said with her attention back on Maya, "I'm not scared of you"
"Don't do that. You know you don't want these hands" Ali took a step forward causing Maya to as well before Emily tightened her arms around her,
"Calm down, baby. Let it go" Emily whispered in her ear,
"I wasn't ready last time since you suckered punched me" Ali said, pointing at Maya.
"Oh really? So you ready now" Maya said trying to loosen Emily's grasp on her. "Cause we can challenge that theory"
"Maya let it go" Emily pleaded as she saw the principal heading over,
"You don't scare me, Maya." Ali said taking a step forward, "But I scare you" Ali smirked, "Especially since I'm the only other person to have Emily's heart and that scares the shit out of you" Maya glares at her, "and now that I'm back. Your position may not be as secured as you thought" Emily's eyes narrowed, "I mean she probably went after you because you don't remind her of me. That way I can stay off her mind but now that I'm back, it's only a matter of time before we end up back together"
"Get real, Ali" Ali glanced at the girl who spoke up. Not seeing her in awhile, "She went after her because Maya is way better than you'll ever be" Ali glanced at the irrelevant girl who stepped next to Maya but then looked back to see that she got Maya to crack. Emily rolled her eyes at the girl who was now standing next to them. So lucky she is Maya's friend.
"I mean she did let me touch her earlier" Emily felt Maya tense. Oh shit. "Hold her, kiss her-"
"Liar!"
Ali didn't finish as a hand came up and slapped her across the face which resulted in a few hair pulling. "FUCKING BITCH!"
"HEY HEY BREAK IT UP" their principal came up and separated the two girls as everyone stood there in shock before the bell rang. "Get to class!" Everyone started being ushered to class as more faculty came to help diffuse the situation.
"I'm still in shock right now" Spencer said as they walked to class.
"Me too, I can't believe Marshall did that." Aria nodded.
"Me neither but Ali went in after that slap" Hannah said running a hand through her hair. Emily tried to hold Maya's hand but Maya just ignored it. Why me? Emily pouted,
"Babe" Maya walked into class making Emily and the girls stop. Caleb gives Hannah a peck on the cheek and Emily a small smile before walking in after his sister.
"Damn, Em" Emily threw her hands up in the air.
"I knew I should've stayed home today" Emily grumbled as she walked in with the girls. Instead of going to her seat she went to Maya's to see if she could maybe find out what happened. "Baby"
"Take your seat Emily" Damn. Maya telling her to go somewhere was always a bad sign, letting her know that she was definitely in trouble. Especially with the tone of her voice but it was still a turn on. Emily mentally shook her head before trapping Maya in her seat. One hand on her chair and the other on the desk as she looked at Maya.
"Baby" Maya rolled her eyes, "Nothing happened. She was just talking to be talking." Maya stayed silent, not looking at her. "Please don't be mad"
"Why do you think I'm mad about that?" Now I know I'm in trouble. Emily took a deep breath trying to make sure she doesn't say anything to get in more trouble with Maya.
"Because of the way you're acting" Emily stated and before Maya could say anything, Emily went further, "and don't say you're not acting a certain way. Please talk to me babe. You always say that we need to communicate and I can't if you won't tell me"
"I'm not mad about her talking shit but you didn't even stick up for me when Ali was talking shit" Emily moved her head back a little, confused with what Maya was saying. "When she was saying that you're with me because I don't remind you of her and that I shouldn't feel secure in my position" Emily's eyes widened thinking when she realized that she didn't back Maya up when Ali was coming after her. "Then she says you let her kiss you and hold you" Emily went to open her mouth but Maya put up her hand to stop her from continuing, "I believe that you let nothing go further but still say something. Something to reassure me that you don't want her and that she can't talk to me like I'm just a rebound." Emily shook her head but Maya continued. "I mean, Jenna is my friend and she stood up for me. I'm not saying fight but damn Emily" Emily frowned and knew she did fuck up but also that Marshall was defending her girlfriend's honor. That pissed her off since she was suppose to be the one doing that and not Jenna's ass. "Like, I'm not insecure but when yo-"
"Yea, I fucked up" Emily nodded and caught Maya's gaze. "Big time. That's my fault but I put it on everything that you don't need to feel insecure when you are my one and only. I love you. I'm in love with you. And I'm really sorry it's just that Ali su-" Emily was interrupted,
"Ms. Fields." Mr. Fitz said, interrupting her before she can finish. Emily rolled her eyes, "Class has started so make your way to your seat"
"The bell hasn't gone off yet to signal that class has started. So, I have time" Emily stated before turning her attention back to Maya, "I'm so sorry baby." She leaned closer to her girl and placing a quick peck on her lips before Maya could pull away. "I'll make it up to you, I promise" The bell rang,
"Class has started now." Emily clenched her jaw, "If you don't go to your seat in two seconds then you have detention, Ms. Fields" Emily pulled away to glare at him. What the fuck is his problem?
"Are you-" Emily felt Maya grip her shirt and pulled her down to look at her,
"Please just go to your seat" Maya pleaded with her. Emily reign in her temper, she nodded before standing up and walking to her desk.
"I see you came to your senses" Emily glanced at Aria who gave her a sheepish smile then made a heart with her hands before pulling them apart. Emily and Hannah look at her confused before Spencer coughed,
"Broke up ahem" Emily's eyes grew wide along with Hannah's.
"Holy shit!" She whispered, "You broke his heart. No wonder he's being an asshole" Hannah smirked at Aria, getting her to glare at her. Emily shook her head,
"Such a heart breaker" Emily tsked her, making them all giggle.
"I'm glad to see you girls are in a good mood. Would you please enlighten the rest of the class?" He said with a little glare. They shook their head, "Then grow up and keep your conversations to yourself" They all glared at him as some of the class chuckled. The door opens to show Ali relaxed and calm like she didn't just get in a fight about five minutes ago. "May I help you?"
"Yes, I'm the new student" She smiled, charmingly at him and getting him to smile for the first time today. "Well, not technically since I know everyone"
"Oh really. Good then we can skip the introductions." She nodded, "Why don't you sit next to..." He glanced around the room,
"Actually, is it okay if I sit next to Emily and the girls. I've known them since forever" He looked surprised,
"Really?" She nodded, "Oh okay. Emily, do you mind?" Emily glanced back at Maya who was looking at her book like she was interested but Emily knew she wasn't.
"Actually, I do-" He shook his head,
"Doesn't matter" He shrugged his shoulders, "Please take a seat Ms. Dilaurentis" Emily glared at him before moving it to Aria since it was her fault that he was in this mood. Aria shrugged guiltily before Ali pulled up a chair besides Emily. She flashed Emily a smile before glancing at Maya who was glaring at her. She winked at her before moving closer to Emily. Emily frowned when she noticed the little amount of space between them before looking back at Maya. 'Not my fault' she mouths to her as Maya just looks at her before putting her attention to Mr. Fitz. Ughh. Emily keeps looking at her knowing Maya was getting annoyed that she was staring at her and not paying attention to Mr. Fitz. She looks at Emily with a slight glare as Emily smiles before forming a heart on her chest and mouthing 'I love you' to soften her up. The corner of Maya's lips twitch, "Ms. Fields, face forward" He stated getting her to roll her eyes but face forward, "You guys decide on it…" Before he continued on with discussing senior projects. Ali kept lightly touching Emily on the arm, leg, anywhere that she could touch making Emily constantly glare at her before grabbing her finger and pulling it back a little.
"Stop." She hissed at her,
"You forgot the word don't" Emily smiled at her. Two can play that game.
"Don't…" Emily glared at her, catching Ali off guard. "Fuck with me, Ali" Ali shook it off before giving her a look of innocence, "I mean it" Ali smiled at her, "I'm not playing. If you do anything to fuck up my relationship" Emily smirks, "I swear your ass is gonna wish you never met me" Ali licks her lips, "So stop because it's not gonna happen" Ali shrugs,
"You didn't say never though" Emily rolls her eyes,
"Man the thirst is real. I have some water if that helps with your thirsty ass" Hannah said with a smirk getting the girls to giggle and Ali to roll her eyes.
"Ladies, what is it that is making you all interrupt my class?" Mr. Fitz asked, glaring the four but not Ali. "You guys can't seem to stop giggling with each other? Please enlighten us with why you are so happy?" Emily decided to speak up,
"I guess it would be, that my girlfriend is amazing" She looked back at Maya who stares at her before a light blush creeps on her face and smiles while shaking her head, "Sexy, understanding. You know" She looked at Mr. Fitz with a smirk, "What it's like to have a girlfriend that you're in love with right? Or are you single?" The girls were trying to stifle their giggles as Mr. Fitz turned red,
"Mr. Fitz, did your girlfriend break up with you and that's why you're acting like this?" Hannah said with a smirk getting the class to giggle,
"I'm not acting like anything and no I didn't have a break up" He said before walking to the middle of the class,
"Bullshit" Spencer coughed getting the class to laugh,
"What was that?" He looked over at Emily thinking it was her,
"What was what?" She asked with her eyebrow raised,
"Did you curse in my class?" She shakes her head, "I think you did. Detention" Emily's eyes grew,
"The FUCK?!" Emily exclaimed making the whole class in shock at her and Mr. Fitz, "I didn't do shit!"
"You just did now so detention after school" He said with a smirk,
"That bullshit and you know it!" Hannah exclaimed trying to defend her friend but not in the best way,
"You're right, Ms. Marin. You have detention too" He said writing up their detentions,
"That is totally uncalled for Mr. Fitz. Weren't you talking about expressing our selves" Spencer said trying to get him to see reason and logic, "I mean you provoked the whole thing just now and automatically gave her a detention for nothing in the beginning."
"Oh really, I actually think it was you that cursed in my class so detention to you too Spencer" He said writing her up as well, "You got something to say next, Ms. Montgomery?" Aria glared at him but Spencer put a hand on her shoulder getting her to calm down,
"No she doesn't" Spencer said,
"Fucking asshole" Emily grumbled in her seat as Mr. Fitz was walking back to his desk,
"What was that?" He met eyes with Emily and as Emily was about to say something Maya interrupted her,
"Mr. Fitz, I have an idea about senior projects" She said trying to bring them back to the topic of class and not him being detention happy. Mr. Fitz stays focus on Emily for a second before moving his gaze to Maya,
"Okay, come to the front and present it to the class Ms. St. Germain" He said giving her the floor,
"Yes sir" She stood up and walked to the front of the room, "Well, my idea for our senior project involves artists and when I say artists I mean music artists. Everyone listens to music and their music takes us on a journey..." Entrancing the class about getting to do something on something that they love, "You'll pick an artist and you'll start from their first album on what it was about and then go from showing how they might have matured or changed into something else. Compare how their latest album changed from their first album. What types of metaphors they used, examples of their life, and how they were able to put all their feelings and lift into one album or song. So, what you think?" She said looking at Mr. Fitz as she stood in front of Emily's desk. She was able to distract Emily from getting anymore detentions and distract Mr. Fitz from the girls. He looked impressed before looking at the class,
"If the whole class agrees then this will be their senior project. Show of hands if you are not for this idea" No one raised their hands, "This is your senior project. I need an artist from each of you by the end of the week." The started to whisper in joy at being able to present one of their favorite artists to the class and describe the way their music influences people. "Good job, Ms. St. Germain" Maya smiled at him as the bell rang, "See you tomorrow and you three that have detention come see me now" Emily pouts seeing that she still can't talk to Maya.
"You're behavior was inappropriate in class and you should be ashamed of yourselves" Emily rolled her eyes, "Breaking the student handbook and you guys are lucky you didn't get written up and sent to the principal's office. Emily" He looked at her and gaining her attention, "You're lucky you're no longer in swim season because with that behavior you would've got kicked of the team" Emily leaned forward in her desk, "And you Spencer with the field Hockey team"
"Excuse me" Spencer said getting him to nod, "You don't have the power" Hannah chimed in,
"Yea. Them getting kicked off the team for not doing anything. I doubt it" She scoffed,
"You girls seem like you're untouchable which is uncalled for. I don't want to see that type of behavior in my class again or I will kick you out of my class" He said trying to assert his authority. "You all are dismissed" They gathered their things but before they left Spencer decided to add something,
"You know, we did do things that were inappropriate but you have to" He chuckles, "So don't act like you're innocent because I'm positive you have done something worst than us" the other two smirk at him.
"I'm sure I have" He said with a smirk. Spencer shrugged her shoulders. "Nothing too bad though" Emily smirked,
"I'm sure having sex with a minor is bad though" His smirk falls as he furrows his eyebrows confused at what she is implying,
"Especially if it's one of your students" Hannah adds with a smirk his eyes widen and his mouth drops a little,
"That's statutory rape. That's something way worst than our behavior in class" Spencer ends as she sees the fear written all over his face. "See you at detention" as they all walk out and head to their next class.
Lunch
So, unfortunately for Emily, she hasn't seen Maya since this morning in Mr. Fitz class but have had class with Ali since which absolutely blows. Ali was all over her and Emily couldn't stand it because Shana was in her third period class watching the interaction. She probably ran and told Maya. Emily shakes her head as she walks into the cafeteria with Aria before heading to their seats, "Still nothing?" Aria asks as she sits across from her,
"Nope. I've texted her but I know how she gets in class and becomes a nerd" Emily says with a light smile on her face. No matter what anyone thinks, Maya was a nerd when it came to math. Even if she skipped school from time to time, she would still make sure her math was done out of all her subjects because she loved numbers. Emily feels a presence next to her as she turns to see blonde hair. Oh fuck me! "Ali-"
"Let me talk. I'm sorry" Ali apologized, shocking the hell out of Aria and Emily. "For everything from breaking your heart to making fun of you guys and bossing you around" She also looked at Aria when she said this. "I was immature and stupid and thought that the world revolved around me" Spencer sat down next to Aria glaring at her, "I'm sorry for this morning but I was just trying to defend myself" Spencer narrowed her eyes not believing her. "I just wanna make things right between all of us and going how I did this morning hasn't been helping at all" Hannah now sits now to Aria glaring at Ali, "I'm sorry Hannah. I'm sure Caleb really likes you. You're amazing" What? "Can we just take it one day at a time?" She looked back at Emily as Emily just stared at her. This is too much right now. Emily shakes her head but Aria spoke up,
"Okay, we'll see how this goes" All the girls look at her, "What? When have you ever heard Ali apologize before?" They shake their head, "Exactly" Emily pinched the bridge of her nose as she feels a headache coming on. A hand is on her shoulder,
"You okay?" Ali whispers to her but Emily didn't know what to do. Ali never apologized but she was just flirting with her not even a hour ago. Why me? Life was going great for her before Ali came or even before Maya cam- she shook her. Nope. Life was good before Maya came but it became great when Maya and her started dating. She'll just let this go for right now because the only thing on her mind was getting Maya not to doubt her. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes to see all her friends looking at her with concern, even Ali.
"I'm good" She said before a soft, raspy whisper entered her ear,
"I can make it better" Emily turned to see her girl with a smile playing on her lips that made Emily smile.
"I'm sorry" She nodded,
"Well talk later" Emily froze, a little scared at that word 'talk'. She tried to read Maya but right now she was a closed book. "I got you lunch because you didn't eat your breakfast from earlier" She put the food on the table in front of Emily, "beautiful" Emily let go of the air that she was holding since Maya said 'talk'. "You need to eat" Emily then smirked as her head went to something else more appetizing than the soup and panini that Maya got her from Panera Bread. Her eyes slid down to Maya's legs before moving up to see Maya playfully narrowing her eyes at her and pursing her lips as she leaned closer, "Maybe later for making it up to me" pecking her lips lightly,
"It would be my pleasure" Maya bit her lip as a short, deep chuckle escaped her when looking away and a blush rising. "I love you" She whispered in her ear, "So much baby" Emily pulled her close, forgetting about everyone around her and only focusing on Maya. She didn't care about anyone else beside the girl that held her heart in her hands. She pecked her cheek, "thank you for lunch, you wanna share" Ali was watching the two interact and she couldn't stand it. She didn't like seeing the person that she love clearing moved on to someone else. Emily was supposed to be waiting for her when she returned and she would make it up to her for all the things she did to ruin them in the past. CeCe had said that Emily was still a player but right now it didn't seem like it and Ali hated that. She turned away to see Spencer and Hannah looking at her, studying her and she made sure to school her features and give them a smile. It was a silent stare-off before they focused their attention to food and the couple that was at the table with them. She had to tread lightly if she wanted Emily back. Friends first then get her to fall back in love with her.
"So why is she sitting here?" Maya whispers in her ear as Emily took a bite of her panini before offering a bite to Maya which she took. Emily shrugged her shoulders before swallowing,
"She wanted a truce and a chance to make things right" She moved to take a sip of her water, "She apologized and she never does that" Maya looks at skeptically before glancing at Ali who was now chatting with Aria and CeCe who was sitting at the table like they were best friends, "I'm not trusting her but I figure the least amount of drama would be the best for us." She offers her another bite which she gladly accepted. Maya took a minute to swallow before taking a sip of her own drink,
"Does she know that you slept with CeCe?" Emily's eyes widen as a guilty smile appears on her face,
"Nope, so hush" Kissing Maya lips and making her giggle.
"Should've kept your legs closed" Maya pulls away as Emily whines,
"Babbyyyyy" Getting the attention of the table but hers is only on Maya. Maya laughs as she glances at Ali who was staring at her with hidden rage. She winks at her before turning her attention to Emily who was pouting,
"I still love you" She pecks her pouting lips.
"Just like I love you" We're good.
