Chapter 38: The Evee Decision!
"The name is Ellie, I'm a pokemon trainer" Ellie said with pride.
"Nice to meet you, the name is Daisuke. I am also a pokemon trainer" Daisuke introduced himself.
"So what were you doing in that cave?" Daisuke questioned.
"I was seeing if Articuno was down there" Ellie said innocently.
"Fair enough, so does that Jynx belong to you?" Daisuke continued questioning.
"Yes, she is one of my top trio" Ellie said with pride.
"Well you seem like a strong trainer, why did you take my friends pokeball?" Daisuke questioned.
"I wanted to provoke a battle" Ellie stated.
"Wasn't much of a battle though" Daisuke smirked.
"You seem like a strong trainer, so if you want to battle me again then find me in the Indigo League" Ellie winked at Daisuke as she slid down the railing of the stairs running towards the edge of the boat.
Daisuke followed, Ellie called out her Dewgong as she jumped on top of her water type pokemon.
"Where are you going?" Daisuke questioned.
Ellie laughed, "You ask a lot of questions."
"I'm off to battle Blaine and get my seventh badge" Ellie said determined as Dewgong began to swim faster than the boat taking off.
"Hope to see you again Daisuke!" Ellie shouted winking back to Daisuke.
Daisuke lost Ellie in the horizon and stared at the ocean for a minute.
"Well that was interesting" Daisuke said to himself feeling weird inside.
Daisuke went back to the food hall and noticed his friends had already finished and left.
Daisuke made it back to the room and noticed Green asleep on one of the beds and Kite sitting in a chair messing with his pokegear.
"What's up man?" Kite said as Daisuke walked in.
"Just pumped for the Indigo League" Daisuke said as he sat in a chair next to Kite's.
"Agreed, but first we should strategize for Blaine" Kite suggested.
"Well for you it should be cake, Blaine specializes in fire and you have three water types" Daisuke explained.
"True my Blastoise should be able to do most the work" Kite stated.
"I don't have any water types, but that's okay, if I want to win the Indigo League then I need to be able to face any challenge" Daisuke said determined.
"Your pokemon are strong so you can handle it" Kite said with encouragement.
"Did Andre go to his room?" Daisuke wondered.
"Yes he said he was going to rest and then meet up with us once we landed" Kite explained.
"He is going to be a challenge in the league, he already has eight badges and just caught a legendary pokemon" Daisuke said a bit worried.
"Just like you said man, we got to be able to face any challenge if we want to win it all" Kite said determined.
Daisuke smiled with determination as he went and laid on the other bed in their room, "Kite, maybe we will face each other in the finals" Daisuke said as he fell asleep.
"Let's hope so" Kite said quietly as he continued to mess with his pokegear.
The boat continued its way to Cinnabar Island finally making its way to the volcanic island.
"ATTETION PASSENGERS! We have now arrived at Cinnabar Island, The fiery town of burning desire!" the captain said loudly over the intercom as the boat docked.
The passengers began to swarm off the boat and made their way throughout the island.
Daisuke awoke to Green yelling at him, "Let's go Daisuke!"
"We are already here?" Daisuke said wanting to go back to sleep.
"Man I can't believe the captain didn't wake you over the intercom" Kite chuckled.
Daisuke got up and fixed himself and the trio made their way out of their room and off the boat, Andre was waiting for them on the shore.
"Well this is my home town" Andre said with a smile.
"This place looks nice" Daisuke complimented.
"About 10 years ago there was a huge eruption that cindered the whole town, fortunately, Blaine was able to predict the eruption before it happened so everyone managed to escape with no fatalities. After long hours of work they manage to rebuild the city to this state now" Andre said proudly.
"So will the volcano erupt again?" Green questioned worried.
"Blaine says the volcano is not very active anymore just a 'rock with lava' he says" Andre explained.
"Blaine sure does know a lot about volcanoes" Kite said.
"Blaine is an expert in volcanoes, his gym is located inside the volcano." Andre stated as the group looked at him in a bit of shock.
"That's awesome!" Daisuke and Kite said in unison.
"That's crazy!" Green chimed in.
"Blaine is a little crazy, but he is a great gym leader" Andre stated.
"I figured he would be tough" Kite said.
"I'll give you a hint, he is going to use four pokemon" Andre explained.
"So how about we go eat lunch at my parent's house, then go to the gym" Andre suggested.
"I'm down" Kite said.
"Free food? Of course" Daisuke laughed.
"You are so kind Andre" Green smiled.
Andre led the group to his house as they walked in Andre was immediately greeted by his mother.
"Andre! You're home!" Andre's brunette haired mother said in joy.
"Mom good to see you, these are my friends Daisuke, Kite, and Green" Andre said introducing the trio.
"Well nice to meet you all, I will make some sandwiches" Andre's mom smiled as she went to the kitchen.
The trio sat in the living room with Andre, "I take it Dad already left" Andre presumed.
"Yes he left about three days ago" Andre's mom a little sad.
"My dad left to do research in Unova for 6 months to a year" Andre explained to the trio.
"It kind of sucks he won't be there when I compete in the Indigo League, but he said he would watch it on TV" Andre said sadly then excited.
"So are you all trainers?" Andre's mom asked the trio as she put a plate of sandwiches on a table in the middle of the living room.
"Yes we are" Daisuke answered as he grabbed a sandwich.
"How many badges do you each have?" Andre's mom questioned.
"Daisuke and I both have 6, Green is a trainer but she doesn't compete for badges" Kite stated.
"I really wanted to journey through Kanto, Daisuke and Kite were kind enough to let me join their journey" Green added.
"How very nice of you two" Andre's mom smiled.
"Thank you for the food" Daisuke said as he finished his sandwich.
"Thank you" Kite joined.
"Thank you so much" Green smiled.
"When you all are finished eating then we will go to the gym" Andre said.
"Were you two planning on challenging Blaine today?" Andre's mom chimed in.
"Yes we planned on it" Daisuke said.
"Sorry to say but Blaine closed his gym down for the day" Andre's mom stated.
"Why is that?" Andre questioned.
"Well there was a box of Evees that showed up to shore in a very small boat, Blaine discovered them and took them in to give them proper shelter and nourishment. Now Blaine is holding an event in the park today, trainers can have a chance to get themselves an Evee. I heard the pokemart is pitching either a fire stone, water stone, or thunder stone for each Evee they give out" Andre's mom explained.
"I see, well would you guys like to go try to get an Evee?" Andre asked the trio.
"I'm down, we can't battle the gym today anyways" Daisuke said.
"Sounds interesting, I'll go" Kite said.
"I want an Evee!" Green shouted in excitement.
"Well then let's go" Andre said.
The group quickly ate the rest of the sandwiches and then made their way to the park.
The park was filled with trainers and residents as the group made their way through the crowd.
"And that does it for the racing event! Will the winner make their way over to the stand to claim your prize" The announcer with black hair and a red suit shouted as an excited female trainer made her way over to the stand beside the stage. The trainer was given a pokeball with an Evee in it by an old man with a long white mustache wearing a red long sleeved button down with a white vest over it, he was also wearing brown slacks and black dress shoes. The pokemart employee handed the trainer a water stone, the trainer left in excitement.
"Which one is Blaine?" Kite questioned.
"Blaine is the one giving the pokeball" Andre stated.
"Oh he is the old man" Daisuke said.
"I wouldn't call him old to his face" Andre warned.
"The next event will be the beauty contest! Whichever trainer believes they have an elegant looking pokemon please come up to the stage!" The announcer shouted.
"Green you should go up there!" Kite encouraged.
"What? Really?" Green questioned.
"Yea you just caught that Lapras, you kept talking about how beautiful she was" Kite explained.
"You definitely should" Daisuke encouraged.
"Lapras is considered one of the most beautiful pokemon in this region" Andre added.
"Okay I give it a try" Green shouted with excitement as she ran onto the stage confident.
"Only three?" The announcer questioned but then accepted it as no more trainers took the stage.
"Well let's introduce our three competitors for the beauty contest!" The announcer shouted as he walked up to the first contestant.
"The name is Patrick" Patrick said into the mic, Patrick was a teenage male wearing a purple button down shirt tucked into white pants with black shoes.
"My name is Susie" Susie said with confidence, Susie was a teenage female wearing a blue dress.
"Hello, my name is Green" Green said with a smile.
"Now please show us your pokemon, Patrick you first" The announcer shouted.
"Let's go Butterfree" Patrick shouted as Butterfree appeared on the stage and began to fly around elegantly.
"That butterfree is confident, Susie you are next" The announcer shouted.
"Go Vileplume" Susie shouted as Vileplume appeared on the stage showing off her bright flower.
"Very beautiful!" The announcer shouted, the crowd began to cheer for Susie and Vileplume.
"Green, last but hopefully not least" The announcer shouted.
"Alright Lapras" Green shouted as Lapras appeared on the stage looking elegant. The announcer and the crowd stood there in silence amazed at the beauty of the water pokemon.
"Wow, what elegant beauty!" The announcer shouted as the crowd cheered loudly.
"Now Blaine will decide the winner!" The announcer shouted as he handed Blaine the mic.
"Very beautiful pokemon, I will have to go with Green and her Lapras. Both are stunning" Blaine smiled as he handed Green the pokeball with Evee in it.
"Now go over to the poke mart clerk for the stone of your choice" Blaine said to Green.
Green was excited as she recalled Lapras and went to the clerk.
"Which stone would you prefer?" The clerk questioned with a smile.
"I'll take the water stone, I've always wanted a Vaporeon" Green said as she was handed the water stone.
Kite, Daisuke, and Andre congratulated Green as she met back up with them.
"Thanks" Green smiled at them.
"So which stone did you pick?" Kite asked.
"Let me show you" Green said as she called out her newest pokemon.
"A Vaporeon, so water it was" Daisuke confirmed.
"Yep I have always wanted a Vaporeon" Green said excited.
"Alright folks, we are down to just two Evees" The announcer shouted.
"We will be giving them both out in our final contest, the battle tournament!" The announcer continued with excitement.
"I will have Blaine explain the rules" The announcer said as he handed Blaine the mic.
"Each contestant will use only one pokemon in a single elimination tournament, the top two will win the Evees. Also to make things a little more interesting, trainers must use what they consider there 'weakest' pokemon on your current team. We will trust that you have trainers honor and don't cheat" Blaine stated as he handed the announcer the mic back.
"Now if you would like to participate please take to the stage!" The announcer shouted.
"Sweet I am going" Daisuke said determined.
"Same here, I love tournaments" Kite said with a smirk.
"I'll sit this one out" Andre said.
"Why is that?" Daisuke questioned.
"My team is complete, I don't need an Evee" Andre said.
"Oh that makes sense" Daisuke agreed.
"Good luck Kite and Daisuke" Green encouraged with a smile.
Daisuke and Kite went to the stage as two other trainers made their way to the stage as well.
"Looks like we have 4, that works our perfectly!" The announcer shouted in excitement.
"Please call out the pokemon you will be using" The announcer said as each trainer called out their respective pokemon.
"Now to introduce our competitors" The announcer said as he started with a male.
"I am Allen and this is my Beedrill" Allen said with his Beedrill next to him. Allen was a young teenage male with brown hair a black shirt and blue jeans with black shoes.
"The name is Kira and this is Clefable" Kira said with her Clefable next to her. Kira was an older teenager with long brown hair a purple long sleeve shirt and blue short shorts.
"The name is Kite and this is Electabuzz" Kite said with Electabuzz next to him.
"The name is Daisuke and this is Dratini" Daisuke said with Dratini next to him.
"Great now let's decide the match ups" The announcer shouted as he finished putting three pieces of paper in a small box.
"Okay so in this box are the names of Allen, Kite and Daisuke" The announcer started.
"Kira you will draw who you will battle and the remaining two will battle each other" The announcer continued as he walked up to Kira with the box.
Kira drew a piece of a paper out of the box and showed the announcer.
"Looks like she will battle Daisuke! Which means Allen and Kite will face off!" The announcer shouted with excitement.
"Let's clear this stage and go over to the field for the battles" The announcer said as he and the crowd made their way to a large open field in the park.
"First up will be Kira versus Daisuke" The announcer shouted as Kira and Daisuke took separate ends of the field.
"This will be a 1 on 1 battle between Kira and Daisuke, let the battle begin" Blaine shouted as he was the ref.
"Ladies first" Daisuke said indicating for Kira to go first.
"Clefable use metronome" Kira commanded, Clefable waved her finger and then a ball of electricity formed in the fairy pokemon hands.
"Electro ball go" Kira quickly shouted, Clefable shot the large ball of electricity towards Dratini.
"Dratini use agility" Daisuke commanded, Dratini vanished in the blink of an eye avoiding the ball of electricity.
"Now combo with slam" Daisuke quickly ordered, Dratini suddenly appeared in front of Clefable. Dratini slammed his tail hard into Clefable sending the fairy pokemon flying backwards.
"Clefable!" Kira shouted in dismay.
"Dratini use twister" Daisuke commanded, Dratini spun his tail rapidly forming a twister and then shooting the large twister horizontally towards Clefable.
"Clefable use reflect" Kira commanded, Clefable formed a large glass screen blocking the large twister.
"Now use Moonlight" Kira quickly ordered, Clefable formed a ball of white energy in her hands and then let it float in the sky.
"Clefable just created an artificial moon" Daisuke said intrigued.
"That can't be good" Kite thought to himself.
"Dratini use dragon rage" Daisuke commanded, Dratini began to charge a ball of blue and black energy.
"What is he doing? Dragon types are weak against fairy types" Andre said concerned.
"Fire!" Daisuke shouted with determination, Dratini shot a large blue and black dragon shaped beam towards Clefable.
"You did exactly what I was hoping for!" Kira said with pride.
"Clefable use moonblast!" Kira commanded, Clefable formed a ball of white energy that grew very large due to the power of the artificial moon.
Clefable shot a large spiraling beam of white energy towards the dragon shaped beam.
"Since fairy types are strong against dragon types, our attack will blast through yours and taking out your Dratini!" Kira said confident.
Daisuke smirked as the beam of white energy blasted through the dragon shaped beam cancelling out the dragon type move.
"It's over" Kira shouted.
"Quick Dratini use agility" Daisuke quickly commanded, Dratini vanished just in time to avoid the beam of white energy.
"What?" Kira questioned.
"Dragon rage was just a decoy attack, Dratini use twister!" Daisuke quickly ordered, Dratini appeared in front of Clefable in the blink of an eye while the dragon type pokemon was forming a twister around his tail.
Dratini fired the horizontal twister slamming into Clefable picking the fairy pokemon up high into the air and slamming her back downwards hard into the ground fainted.
"Clefable is unable to battle, victory goes to Dratini and Daisuke!" Blaine shouted.
"Daisuke is the victor!" The announcer shouted as the crowd cheered.
"Good job Dratini!" Daisuke said as he congratulated his pokemon.
"Nice try Clefable" Kira said as she recalled her pokemon.
"Hey good match" Daisuke said towards Kira.
"Thanks, it was" Kira smiled towards Daisuke before leaving the park.
"Go Daisuke!" Green shouted in excitement.
"Wow he won even though he was at a disadvantage" Andre said a little amazed.
"Kite and Allen take your respective sides for the next battle?" The announcer shouted as Kite and Allen took to their sides.
"This will be a 1 on 1 battle between Kite and Allen, let the battle begin" Blaine shouted indicating the start of the match.
"You first" Kite said as he nodded towards Allen.
"Why not go first? Beedrill use pin missile" Allen questioned then commanded, Beedrill's stingers began to glow white. Beedrill then shot two streams of white energy in the shape of its stingers towards Electabuzz.
"Electabuzz use light screen" Kite commanded, Electabuzz formed a screen of light energy blocking the attack.
"Beedrill use swords dance" Allen commanded, Beedrill clapped its stingers together as they began to glow white and grow in size exploding with power.
"Electabuzz use electro ball" Kite commanded, Electabuzz formed a ball of electricity and shot it towards Beedrill.
"Beedrill now use agility" Allen quickly commanded, Beedrill vanished avoiding the electro ball.
"Now twineedle!" Allen shouted, Beedrill appeared directly in front of Electabuzz while its large stingers were now glowing blue.
Beedrill struck Electabuzz in the chest with both stingers simultaneously sending the electric pokemon crashing backwards hard.
"Electabuzz!" Kite shouted in dismay as Electabuzz struggled getting up.
"Beedrill once more!" Allen commanded, Beedrill vanished and appeared above Electabuzz swooping down while its stingers were glowing blue.
"Electabuzz light screen" Kite quickly ordered, Electabuzz formed a box of light energy around him as Beedrill was about to strike.
Beedrill struck the box cancelling out twineedle but destroying the box, the bug pokemon got pushed back a slight bit.
"Electabuzz use thunderpunch" Kite commanded, Electabuzz's right fist burst with electricity and struck Beedrill in the face sending the bug pokemon flying backwards crashing hard.
"Now end it with volt tackle" Kite commanded, Electabuzz became surrounded by electricity dashed rapidly towards the struggling Beedrill.
Before Allen could react Electabuzz slammed into Beedrill sending the bug pokemon flying far past Allen crashing into the ground fainted.
"Beedrill is unable to battle, victory goes to Electabuzz and Kite" Blaine announced as the crowd cheered.
"Hey good match man" Kite said as he walked up to Allen as he was recalling his Beedrill.
"You must be strong if Electabuzz is considered your weakest" Allen chuckled a bit.
"Well it was either him or my Gyarados" Kite stated.
"Wow, well hopefully I will see you in the league" Allen said as he went to shake Kite's hand.
"How many badges do you have?" Kite questioned as he shook Allen's hand.
"7, I beat Blaine yesterday. I am off to face Blue now" Allen said as he was walking away waving his hand.
"Well that does it for that round, both of these gentlemen will be receiving an Evee. However, they still must battle first to decide the winner!" The announcer shouted as the crowd cheered.
Daisuke and Kite took their respective sides as Dratini and Electabuzz stared each other down while their trainers did the same.
"Go Daisuke and Kite!" Green shouted cheering for both of them.
"This should be interesting" Andre said towards Green.
"They don't battle each other often, but when they do it is always a good match" Green stated towards Andre.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Daisuke and Dratini will be facing off against Kite and Electabuzz!" The announcer shouted with excitement as the crowd continued to cheer.
"This will be a one on one battle between Daisuke and Kite, Let the battle begin!" Blaine said as he commenced the battle.
"You first man" Daisuke said towards Kite.
"Alright, Electabuzz use electro ball" Kite commanded, Electabuzz formed a ball of electricity and threw it towards Dratini.
"Dratini use agility" Daisuke commanded, Dratini easily avoided the electro ball.
"Now use twister" Daisuke quickly ordered, Dratini appeared above Electabuzz shooting the twister from his tail downwards towards the electric pokemon.
"Electabuzz quick use light screen" Kite quickly ordered, Electabuzz narrowly surrounded itself with a box of light energy cancelling out the twister attack, however the box of light energy shattered as well.
"Now slam!" Daisuke commanded, Dratini shot down rapidly slamming his tail into Electabuzz's head crashing the electric pokemon into the ground.
The dust cleared and Dratini was seemingly unharmed while Electabuzz struggled to get up.
"Electabuzz use thunderpunch" Kite commanded, Electabuzz's right fist sparked with electricity swinging towards Dratini.
"Use agility quick" Daisuke quickly retaliated, Dratini barely avoided the thunderpunch.
"Keep at it Electabuzz" Kite continued, both Electabuzz's fist were sparking with large amounts of electricity and began to swing a barrage of punches towards Dratini.
"Keep at it as well Dratini" Daisuke encouraged, Dratini was narrowly avoiding each punch.
"Electabuzz quickly fire an electro ball into the ground" Kite quickly ordered, Electabuzz formed a ball of electricity and slammed it into the ground causing an explosion sending Dratini flying backwards.
"Now thunderpunch" Kite continued, Electabuzz dashed towards Dratini while his fist were sparking with electricity.
Electabuzz began to hit Dratini with a barrage of punches striking blow after blow, faster and faster.
"Dratini!" Daisuke shouted in dismay as Electabuzz finished his combo with an uppercut sending Dratini flying into the air.
Dratini crashed into the ground and was barely able to stay up.
"Now let's end it with volt tackle" Kite commanded, Electabuzz was about to take off until Dratini began to glow.
"It's evolving" Kite said a little amazed.
"Dratini is evolving!" Daisuke shouted with excitement as Dratini began to change forms into a large dragon looking serpent with a horn on his head.
"It is Dragonair now" Daisuke said with amazement.
"It looks as if Dratini has evolved into Dragonair, what an exciting match!" The announcer shouted with excitement as the crowd cheered louder.
"Wow Dragonair is so beautiful" Green said amazed.
"Dratini evolved so quickly" Andre said a little amazed.
"Let's see if you have any new moves" Daisuke said as he looked as his pokedex with a smirk.
"Electabuzz let's go for that volt tackle" Kite commanded, Electabuzz rocketed towards Dragonair while being surrounded by electricity.
"Dragonair use dragon rage" Daisuke commanded, Dragonair shot a large black and blue dragon shaped beam towards the charging Electabuzz.
Electabuzz avoided the attack and struck Dragonair sending the dragon pokemon flying backwards, Electabuzz was struck with recoil.
"Electabuzz use thunder punch" Kite commanded, Electabuzz charged towards Dragonair with both fist sparking with a large amount of electricity.
"Dragonair let's use that new move, dragon tail!" Daisuke commanded, Dragonair's tail started to glow a bright green.
Electabuzz began to swing his fist ferociously towards Dragonair who was managing to match each thunderpunch with dragon tail.
The two pokemon were matching blow for blow, Dragonair however managed to gain the upper hand dodging both fist simultaneously and connecting dragon tail with Electabuzz's chest sending the electric pokemon flying backwards.
"Dragon rage go!" Daisuke commanded, Dragonair shot an even larger blue and black dragon shaped beam towards the struggling Electabuzz.
Before Electabuzz could react he was struck by the dragon shaped beam causing an explosion. The smoke cleared and Electabuzz was lying on the ground fainted.
"Electabuzz is unable to battle, victory goes to Daisuke and Dragonair" Blaine said as the crowd roared with excitement.
"Alright good job Dragonair!" Daisuke shouted with joy as he gave his dragon pokemon a hug and then recalled him.
"That was a good effort Electabuzz" Kite smiled as he recalled his pokemon.
"Hey man great fight" Daisuke said towards Kite as they bumped fists.
"Yea that was tough, it's awesome that your Dratini evolved to Dragonair" Kite complimented.
"I know I am so pumped" Daisuke said clenching his fist in excitement.
"Well that was a good fight, and both of you still get an Evee" Blaine said as he walked up to Daisuke and Kite and handed each of them a pokeball with an Evee inside.
"Your Dratini evolving was unexpected but made for a good match" Blaine said towards the two trainers.
"So will you be battling at my gym?" Blaine questioned Daisuke and Kite.
"Yes both of us would like a battle" Kite stated.
"Great, well come to the gym around noon tomorrow and we can battle" Blaine said as he put his white hat on and thanked the crowd and left.
"Well congrats on your win! Which stone would you like?" The poke mart employee questioned Daisuke and Kite.
"I'll take the thunder stone" Daisuke said as he was handed the thunderstone.
"Well I plan on saving this Evee for something else, but I will take a water stone" Kite said as he was handed the water stone.
"Also I overheard that you two will be battling Blaine, I will inform you too that you can each get a free stone if you show us Blaine's badge" The poke mart employee said with a smile.
"That's great!" Daisuke said.
"We will be back tomorrow" Kite said with pride.
"Well hopefully I will see you two then" The poke mart employee said as he packed up and left as well.
"Well that does if for this event folks, have a nice day!" The announcer said as he and his crew began to pack up.
The crowd dispersed while Green and Andre went up to Daisuke and Kite.
"That was a great battle!" Green said towards both of them.
"Thanks" Daisuke and Kite said in unison.
"Daisuke that Dragonair of yours can get strong" Andre said.
"Yea hopefully I can get it to a Dragonite before the league" Daisuke said confident.
"That will be tough but it's not impossible, I mean I finally caught a legendary" Andre said with a smile.
"So what stone did you guys get?" Green questioned.
"Well I got the thunder stone" Daisuke said as he called Evee out and touched the stone to Evee. Evee evolves to Jolteon.
"A Jolteon, good choice" Andre said.
"I realized I didn't have an electric type and I always thought Jolteon was the coolest" Daisuke said with excitement.
"What about you Kite?" Green questioned.
"Well I am going to save my Evee for a different evolution down the line, but I did get a water stone for my Poliwag once I finally get it to that stage" Kite explained.
"So when is your battles with Blaine?" Andre asked.
"Tomorrow at noon" Daisuke said pumped up.
"Well we better eat and get some rest then, let's go back to my place, you all can stay there" Andre said as the group walked back towards Andre's house as the sun began to set.
