Chapter 36-Standing Up

As soon as Robbie got to the hotel where Alex and his father were, he stormed into the room in a fit of rage. "What the fuck is wrong with you two!" he shouted at the two as he nearly broke down the door. "I had everything covered and you two had to go and ruin it!"

"Son calm down, everything is fine," Dominic said just leaning back in his chair with a glass of whiskey in his hand. "Tonight was just an accident, but things have a way of working themselves out."

"Just an accident Dad, just an accident?" Robbie said with his anger growing. "An accident is if you sort of hit a guy, an accident is if you say something that you didn't mean to say, but what you guys did was intentional. You guys nearly killed Dean on purpose. I thought you were going to let handle this!"

Dominic just downed his whiskey and then slammed the glass on the table, "See son we were going to let you do whatever the plan was originally, but Alex and I felt like you were starting to lose it. We felt like your heart wasn't it anymore, so we decided to take thing into our own hands. I would have liked to take care of this whole Dean situation differently, but thanks to Alex's drunken rampage it is what it is."

Alex nodded his head in agreement with his boss, "You're dad is right Robbie so calm down. I'll admit that I messed up in confronting Dean like this so soon, but in the end we should be celebrating. I put so much hurt on that asshole that I don't think he would survive for the rest of the week. This is exactly what we wanted."

"I know that's what we wanted, but I don't want that anymore," Robbie retorted. "I know that you guys might hate Dean for all it's worth, but I don't anymore. I've seen what an awesome man he really is. All Dean wants is to raise a family with Noel and doesn't want any of this drama. Unfortunately he might not get that now and to top it all off, one of your granddaughters is fighting for her life Dad!"

"Hey that's not my problem Robbie. Sure I would want to see both of my granddaughters grow, but I'm not the reason that they are in the hospital right now," Dominic said not even feeling one ounce of guilt.

Seeing his dad act this way made Robbie sick and only made him want to knock him out even more. "Look dad, I know that it's not fault that my nieces are in the hospital alright. It is my fault and I take full responsibility for it. If I would have stood up to you guys in the beginning, then none of this would be happening right now. With that being said, I came here to tell both you to fuck off and that I don't want part of this stupid little game that you are playing anymore. Because of all of this, I lost my sister, brother, possible niece, and the man that I think of as my new brother now!" Robbie said finally standing up to the two men that he feared for so long.

Hating to hear his son talk to him in such disrespect, Dominic walked towards him in a stalking motion. Not liking the way that his father was approaching him, Robbie walked backwards until he had no other place to go. He knew that he should have had backup with him before coming over here.

Once he was trapped in the corner of the drug infested apartment, Robbie knew that he was in deepest shit when his father wrapped around his neck and push him up further against the wall, "Now you listen here you little shit, I might have let your sister get away with talking to me with such disrespect but I will not allow you to do the same. If you want out then that's fine, but you are not going to get in the way of our plans. You saw what happened to Dean and now son, I fear that it's time for you to feel the same pain,"

Hearing what his father had to say made Robbie shake in his boots. He had heard his dad angry before, but never like this. Unfortunately before Robbie had anytime to plead with his father, a skull crushing blow hit him on the side of the head and then he faded into darkness…

Back at the hospital…

Once Robbie had left with hospital without either his brother or sister knowing, both Danny and Noel tried to calm themselves down after hearing the awful news about Dean's condition. They couldn't believe that Dean would need a heart transplant in order to live. That's the last thing that the expected when it came to a motorcycle accident.

"How are you holding up sis?" Danny asked his sister when he came back with some food for the both of them. He saw how devastated she was earlier and didn't think that she could get anymore worse.

"I'm not doing great, but I'm not doing terrible either," Noel sighed. "I'm just a little stressed out, because now I have to rethink my entire future now. Either way I think it's going to be a real struggle. I mean I either have to live the rest of my life a single parent with twins, or I am going to have to deal with both my husband and one of my daughters having a disability. I just don't know if I can handle that."

Danny went over to his sister and hugged her tightly, "Hey it's going to be okay Noel, because I know that no matter what, you will always have help with you. I know that this is the last thing that you would probably expect me to do, but I sort of resigned my position with the military. I called when I went to get some food and I told them what was going on. They are launching an investigation on dad, Alex, and Robbie about this whole thing."

Noel looked at her brother in shock when he told her that and she couldn't believe it, "Wow Danny, I'm surprised that you did that. I never thought that you would turn your back on dad like that. But why are you resigning, I thought you loved the military?"

"I did love it at one point Noel, but dad ended up making me hate it. I told my superiors of your possible situation and they are going to give me an honorable discharge so that I can be around more to help you and Dean out," Danny told her. He would do anything for his sister even if it meant giving up his career for her.

"You didn't have to do that Danny, but thank you, thank you so much," Noel said as she squeezed her brother. "I know that Dean would appreciate that too no matter if he makes it or not."

Danny pulled away from her and said, "Don't say that Noel, I know for a fact that Dean is going to make it. He has to be there for you and the girls. It just can't end this way after all that you two have been through. All you need to do is have faith Noel."

Noel looked at him with tears in her eyes, "I'm trying Danny but it's hard. How are we supposed to find a heart for Dean? I mean we just can't find walk up to someone on their death bed and ask them for their heart."

"No we can't do that," Danny laughed. "I know that things seem hopeless right now, but the way that I see it, good things happen to good people like you Noel. Like I said, just have fate."

Unfortunately faith was what Noel was having a hard time in finding. How could she have faith in something that she caused? Yes Robbie was at fault for Alex causing Dean's crash, but in the end it was her fault for even bring Dean into this relationship. If she didn't get into a relationship with him, then Dean wouldn't be upstairs dying. It was all her fault and she had to find a way to make it up to him no matter what.

Oh man I can't believe that Dominic and Alex now turned on Robbie. I am happy though that he finally stood up to them once and for all. Now I just hope that he is okay and gets Danny to help him with whatever plan that he was thinking of. Well like I said, we are nearing the end of the story, so it's going to be a hectic last couple of chapters.
