Bella curled against the body next to her and smiled as a hand started rubbing her back. The movement sent tingles up and down her body, and she pushed her hips further into the warm figure. She tilted her head up until lips met hers, and a sudden urgency overwhelmed her. She rolled her body over as a strong pair of hands went to steady her hips. She gasped for air and gave a soft moan when he released her lips.
"Edward…"
Bella woke with a start. She blinked up at the ceiling and became panicked, sitting up and looking around for him.
He was gone. Fortunately.
She was still breathing unevenly and her legs still burned from her dream. Her dream – she had never had a dream like that. Usually her sex dream included her going into an ominous door and apparently had sex. It had never been physical. Even her thoughts – they had never been… well that hadn't been that physical. She knew she was attracted to Edward, just… not that strongly.
Where was he?
It was 4:15 in the morning. As happy as she was that he wasn't here, it made her worry. He hadn't left because he knew…? He couldn't smell her, could he? Maybe he left to run an errand or hunt. Maybe he was always gone at this time… The mortification made her jump up and head to the shower. She changed her clothes and tore the sheets from her bed. It was 5:00 by the time she returned from the laundry.
Edward was sitting on her couch playing on his phone. "You're doing laundry at this hour?"
"I couldn't sleep… and then I realized I hadn't washed my sheets in two months so… Where were you this morning?"
"Hunting. I brought back doughnuts."
"Doughnuts?" she glanced to a pink carton sitting on the counter. "Doughnut holes? You got doughnut holes?" she practically squealed.
"I wasn't aware there was such a significant difference between the two," he smiled at her enthusiasm.
"I didn't know either until this very moment," she said, stuffing one into her mouth. "But the amount of sugar has been limited in my meals recently."
"You're the one who wants to be-"
"A vessel for a demonic creature. Please, please stop saying that," Bella glared.
"I was going to say pregnant. Eat another doughnut hole," he waved. "I want you to enjoy it before I start a serious conversation."
"Where were the doughnuts for all those other conversations?" she joked.
"In a few days you will be ovulationg and from now on until then, you are going to have many serious conversations with everyone."
"Will they all be bringing doughnuts or can I make requests? Okay, I'll stop."
Bella fell onto her bed exhausted. She knew she was going to fall asleep within seconds of closing her eyes.
"Alright I got thriller-romance and historical-romance," Alice smiled entering her apartment.
"They were out of romance-romance movies again?" she mumbled sleepily.
She didn't give Bella much grief. Edward had brought her back to their home and had everyone sit down for a session with Bella. She talked about her feelings, her accomplishments, and her goals. She discussed her family and friends, work, and pregnancy. It was one giant therapy session with a revolving door, but Bella had been patient and complied – as the rest of the family did with Edward's plan.
Despite the effort, Bella was still eager to participate. Edward hoped that Carlisle's colleague would be helpful in defending his argument. She would be arriving in the next two days – apparently. Alice couldn't see either. Her lack of visions was starting to give her an inferiority complex.
Edward shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose. He was running out of time and patience. It was frustrating how well Bella took the afternoon. He'd asked Tanya, Eleazar, Carmen, Carlisle and Esme to talk with Bella and to make sure she fully understood all the considerations and possibilities.
"She's wiped out," Alice sighed, moving to sit next to him.
"Hmm." He was running out of options. There wasn't much left he could do. He could always kidnap her.
"You could always kidnap her."
"What?" he looked up at Alice.
"Go to the Volturi. Troll on a website. Force us to move away," she continued. "I'm just suggesting ideas."
"You're reading my mind," he smirked.
"There is one thing… It could definitely work."
"No."
"Edward, if she knew about your feelings, she may reconsider."
"She wouldn't. She doesn't feel that way."
"Jasper says otherwise," she gave him a small smile.
"I wouldn't be good for her."
"You wouldn't be worse than a half-human half-vampire baby."
"Wouldn't I be?"
"Edward…"
Alice starred at the bed to see Bella still sleeping.
"Uh… she does that… once in a… very rare while," Edward blushed.
"Is she…" Alice tilted her head before turning to him with wide eyes. …Having a sex dream?!
"Alice, you don't ever say a word. We'll just leave for a little while like last time."
"Last time!" she gaped. "How often does this actually happen?"
"This is the second time," he explained quickly. "It happened this morning, but we have to leave before she wakes up."
"Oh Edward! This is proof! You have to tell her and I'll get flowers and candles and I'll buy her a dress-"
"Alice – what are you – no! Lust is not the same thing as love," he sighed.
"Make your case Edward… before it's too late."
AN: this chapter was a bit short but the next chapter is longer and is the exciting one!
True story – I've always liked doughnut holes better than regular doughnuts. They taste better. I don't know.
Thanks for Reading!
