The group halted as they came to a ladder in the sewer. Vernon looked up at the exit before turning to the group, "This should be it. We're right underneath the center of Crawford, the old school should be directly above us."
Lee spoke in a hushed voice, "Okay people, this is it. Remember the plan." The group nodded as Lee continued, "We stay quiet, we stay hidden, and we stay together. We find out what we need and we get the hell out before anyone even knows we're there. Got it?" Lee turned sideways to Clementine, "And that part about staying close? That goes double for you."
Lee climbed up the ladder, and pushed the manhole open slowly, "All right, let's go." Lee breathed loudly.
The group climber up the ladder one by one and joined Lee behind a wall, which was hidden by a few bushes. Clementine looked around at Kira and Ben.
Kira smiled, "Don't worry Clem. We got your back."
Lee turned around to a confused Vernon, "Where is everybody? There should be guards patrolling."
Kenny leant over his shoulder, "What, you disappointed?"
"It's just strange, is all."
Everyone turned their heads as Christa spoke, "I think I see one. Over there, by the door." They all watched as a man walked down the street.
"Okay, me and Kenny'll sneak up, try to take him out quiet. The rest of you wait for our signal then follow us over. Everybody got it? Okay Kenny, let's do this quiet. No shooting unless there's no other choice."
Kenny stepped forward as he loaded his rifle, "Right behind you."
Kira and Molly peered around the corner ready for Lee's signal. Lee slowly sneaked up behind the man. The man slowly turned around.
Kira gasped, "That's not a man... it's a-"
Lee swung an axe at it's face as Molly and the group ran over, "What the fuck is a walker doing inside here?"
Kira's mouth dropped open as a horde of Walkers came from round the corner, "Lee!"
Lee began to run, "Get inside, fast!" Everyone sprinted up to a building that the sign read, 'St. Felicity's school' with a separate sign on top that read 'Crawford Personnel only.'
Lee and Kenny slammed the doors shut behind the group as they sprinted into the school.
The group raced up flight of stairs till they reached two large doors, which Lee burst open. The group all leant over struggling for breath. Vernon and Brie slammed the doors shut behind them.
Kenny shot round to the group, "Fuck. Fuck! Do you think they saw us?"
Lee regained his stance, "Your guess is as good as mine." Clementine covered her head in fright. Molly began to look up and down the corridor as Ben started pacing, his hands locked behind his head, elbows in the air with worry.
Christa looked around, "What the hell happened here? I thought this place was supposed to be secure!"
Molly turned her head, speaking over her shoulder, "What always happens, I guess. In the end, the dead always win."
Ben paced through the group, "Oh man, we are so screwed, we are so screwed!" Ben spat, unnerved.
Vernon stepped forward, "No, this is good..."
Ben stopped for a moment, "Did you just say this is a good thing?"
Lee looked to the rest of the group, "Vernon's right. We can deal with walkers easier than armed guards."
Kenny nodded, "I agree. So long as we don't let em' box us in, we can still do this. The plan hasn't changed..."
Ben stood facing Kenny, "The plan hasn't changed? Every time walkers show up the plan changes! Do you even have any idea how many of them are out there?"
Christa walked up close to Ben, his confidence slowly disappearing, "No. You wanna do a headcount? Or do you want to get what we need and get the hell out of here?"
Brie walked down the corridor followed by Kira, "Come on, I think I know which way to head."
Kira waited for Ben to catch up. "Keep your shit together, remember." Kira hissed quietly.
Ben watched the group as they headed up the corridor, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
