Rose didn't talk much anymore. She stayed secluded with her studies and that was it. The occasional family member, Albus or Dom would try to talk to her but no one else did. Rose didn't mind very much; she liked to be silent. It was easy. Her thoughts were raging and swirling but she never let them out. Due to all the time she didn't use talking or socializing but instead used on studying, she was almost immediately the star pupil. But now all her professors were confused why she didn't ever raise her hand anymore. Rose usually finished her work quickly then drew in her notebook. It was all she really did anymore; study, draw, listen to music. Repeat.
She walked through the Hogwarts halls, darting past people knew, carefully so. She never ate in the Great Hall, always in the kitchens. Her life was crashing around her ears and she was well aware. The other day, Lily had tried talking to her but Rose was smarter and acted like she felt sick and hid in the bathrooms until her next class started.
"Rose? Hey, Rose!" Rose inwardly groaned as she walked to Arithmancy. It was Steven. Steven Hemmings. He liked her, she didn't like him. He was always asking her out and she had used every excuse possible.
"Hey, so, I was wondering, do you wanna go to Hogsmeade tomorrow? After the big game?" The big game was the Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor match.
"I wasn't planning to go." She said softly.
"Well, now you can! With me!"
"No thank you, Steve." the Brunette mumbled. Steve looked angry but determined as he marched angrily away.
Rose sighed and walked into the Arithmancy classroom and spent the entire lesson daydreaming about Scorpius.
...
Rose was unusual.
Unlike almost all of the other students, Rose was only interest in muggle music. Love and loss. That sure summed her life up. Only November and she was still wishing like crazy for the end of the year to come. She wanted to run away with Scorpius. She missed him so much. When she was bored, she'd often imagine her and Scorpius's lives after Hogwarts. She never wrote back to her mum or family, so not much would change really in that portion of her life. She wanted to be a writer; she could do that anywhere. Scorpius wanted to be a Professional Quidditch player. And he was pretty damn good.
Rose checked the time; 3:37 am. She had habit of waking up in the middle of the night. Today was November 24th; the big Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor match. Rose should be rooting for Gryffindor but she was really rooting for Ravenclaw. She felt cold inside; it had been a month since she had spoken to Scorpius; a month tomorrow in fact. Rose wanted to cry again. She missed him. Then she made up her mind; she was going to visit him. Right now. At 3:39am. He was Head Boy, but she wasn't head girl; before this year she just got good grades and was a prefect but she wasn't good enough to be head girl. Some Gryffindor had gotten the title of Head Girl. Tonight however, it was good that Scorpius was Head Boy. The Head Boy has his own dorm room in his tower, the head girl too. Rose crept out of bed and after pulling on a robe, tiptoed down the spiral stairs, then up the other set that led to the boy's dorms. After climbing many a stair, she reached his bedroom and tentatively opened the door, closing it behind her. There was one bed in the room and Scorpius was wrapped up in deep blue sheets, fast asleep. Her heart beat quickened a little; the closest she had been to Scorpius in the past month had been when she asked him for a quill in Arthimancy.
With a quivering hand, she gently shook his shoulder. The sheets slipped off slightly to reveal that he was shirtless. This did not help Rose's already frantic heartbeat. His eyes flickered open and he stretched then looked at Rose. He sat up instantly.
"Hey." She said softly. It felt odd to use her voice after so long.
"Hi," when Scorpius spoke, she felt relief seep through her. "What's wrong? Are you alright?"
"Nothi-nothing's wrong." She murmured. "Oh who am I kidding? The last 2 months came directly from hell."
Scorpius ran a hand through his messy blonde hair. "I know, I've barely spoken to anyone. People think I'm sick or something."
"Same here. I never talk anymore and everyone is worried for me. Mum writes but I never write back. The rest of my family writes too, but I just don't bother with them either. I can hear her voice ringing in my ears."
Scorpius motioned for her to sit with him, which she gratefully did. "My team thinks I've gone mad; I'm usually so charismatic but I just don't feel it when I'm not around you. Rose, I need you." Rose felt a tear roll down her cheek. Soon she was all out crying on Scor's shoulder, him talking to her gently.
"Come on;" Scorpius hopped off the bed and pulled her to her feet. He flicked his wand at a small box and it started playing Something I Need, by an old Muggle band, OneRepublic. He grabbed her hands and started dancing with her. Rose felt her spirits lift as she danced around the room with Scorpius, singing the lyrics, maybe off tune but neither of them cared. He spun her around and she twirled and they danced fast and slow and crazy and happily and they sang happy versions of the depressing songs that played. And they danced and danced and danced, until the sun rose and they were on the final verse of I Want It That Way.
"I NEVER WANNA HEAR YOU SAY," Rose sung, laughing.
"BUT I WANT IT THAT WAY!" Scorpius finished and he kissed her. And she loved it. The last month had been utter hell and this is what she needed. When they broke apart, she grinned at him and kissed him again with reckless abandon. She needed him.
Scorpius pulled away slightly, to catch his breath and smiled down at her.
"I cannot go another 2 months without you."
"Me neither."
"We could date in secret?"
"That's an exciting prospect." Rose giggled.
"So, my dear secret girlfriend, shall we reunite after the game in the forest? Picnic included."
"That would be amazing, dear secret boyfriend."
