I don't own any of the songs on this list. They're recommendations of mine that went along with the story and helped me write it. Just light advertising!
This is one of my most organized soundtracks ever, and I love it! It was difficult to choose songs because so many of them have the same meanings behind them, but it was incredibly fun to narrow it down to a little list.
I admit these songs drove me nuts along the way, but they got the story done. You'll notice that some songs are much newer than others, but since I started in January, this list has been constantly expanding and downsizing. I hope you love these songs as much as I do! :D
1: Oh No! I'm in Love :( - Alex Day
This is easily the theme song. All four of the main characters can relate to this song, and it's so fun. And funny. Because love – oh no! Molly didn't mean to fall in love with Luke as much as Vivi didn't intend to fall in love with Gill. And vice versa for the guys! It was so fun to play with this like it was a Shakespeare play, pairing everyone off awkwardly. :D
2: Listen to Your Heart – DHT
I feel like this song relates to Molly giving up on Gill and turning to Luke. Because by the end, she certainly didn't want to leave Luke. She's put through a vicious tug-of-war, but I'm glad things worked out for her in the end. Unlike most of my other heroines – I'M EVIL I KNOW.
3: Brave – Sara Bareilles
Another love song – yay! No one wants to admit what's going on. They need to speak up and get all of this off of their chest already! I hear the line 'Why don't you tell them the truth?' but I hear 'him' instead of 'them' whenever I go back to the chapter Let Go when Molly finally kissed Luke and he ran off and it was terrible and sad and awkward and FINALLY, but ugh! Just tell him THE TRUTH. Drove me nuts. Lalalove this song~
4: Cinderella – Steve Moakler
This song is so unbelievably sweet, so it reminded me of Luke right away. "Here's to reaching for your hand," and "If Cinderella left the dance before midnight came and went, the world would never know," are my favorite lyrics. Molly, just stay with Luke! Gah, it drove me nuts, too. Wasn't just you guys, I swear. xD
5: When Can I See You Again? – Owl City
Totally blew me away when DesertRoseSparty guessed this was on the list! Ah, it really freaked me out (as I already said). This song is so fresh and excitable. I love putting Luke and Molly to the words, but also Gill and Vivi. Started out with hatred in their meetings, and suddenly, they're looking for more ways to get together before the wedding. :)
6: I Want Candy – Aaron Carter
This one is hilarious. xD I couldn't help it! It's certainly a more humorous take, but this song kind of describes Molly rather well… And how poor Luke is going crazy.
7: Love Somebody – Maroon 5
This is mostly from Molly's perspective, I think. Hm… Have a listen and make your own conclusion on that one. This song has so much energy and magic. It helped me through some of my roughest spots nearing the end. Plus, it's really fun to dance in the car to. :D
8: La Da Dee – Cody Simpson
The only reason this song is on the list is for its energy. And it's incredibly adorable. Just another fun love song, I suppose, but I needed each of these to get me through these later chapters. Don't judge my love for his music, okay? D:
9: This is Me – Charlie McDonnell
The concept of who 'me' is in the story is a big point. The inner struggle Molly has as she decides who she is as a person, and the literal issue of who Molly is – Molly or The Witch in disguise? Vivi definitely had some issues dealing with being in Molly's skin!
10: I'm a Pirate, You're a Princess – Playradioplay!
I ADORE this song. I feel like it fits Luke and Molly to a tee. It even has this bit about them being kids messing around – it's perfect. If you know the song and think of this story, the Courtney that is against the relationship seems to be Molly herself. She's always doubting and over-thinking things. Glad she came around and claimed her pirate. :)
11: Pull Me In – Jon D
This song was a last minute entry on the list, mainly because it was just officially released a few days ago. I really love this song, and I was listening to it as I finished writing the last chapter. Though the subject matter is a little off, I feel like this makes a really relaxing, adorable credits song for the story. I hope you listen to it, too, to get the same effect it had on me!
12: End Credits – The Swan Princess Soundtrack
How could I not?! This movie is my favorite animated movie. I know it gets a lot of hate, but I've watched it a million times, and it's a pretty solid story. And magic aside, it's really believable – especially the characters! Everybody has a motive, nobody is perfect, and there are lessons to be learned. I can respect that in a cartoon. This song is the embodiment of the movie because it has that familiar 'Far Longer Than Forever' tune set to piano and an entire orchestra to back up its majesty and – I have to stop or I'll cry, I swear. So much love. :D
