AUTHOR'S NOTE- Yah. So a week break but I'm back with a depressing chapter. =P
So read on...and may god be with you. ;)
***Angel***
I stepped out of my room pushing open the door with what little strength I had left. I looked at the scene before me.
"What? Why are you here Jack?" I looked at Jack and then saw who was behind him.
A sharp intake of breath caught my ears. "Jack you might want to step back. There is a warsfiel behind you."
Jack looked at me confused.
"Sir, I thought we were going to find Eve, Verloren-sama's interest sir."
"Kona-chan, silly! She is EVE!"
I looked at Jack and hoped against hope of what I knew to be true.
'Please don't be...'
"Jack are you…?"
I looked at Jack and he looked back at me, scared, hesitant. Then his eyes steeled themselves.
"Who are you Jack?"
"I'm am not Jack Warren. My true name is Konatsu Warren and I serve the Barsburg army as a beigletter to Lt. Commander Hyuuga."
"Jack…"
The realization of what he had said hadn't fully been accepted by me yet.
'It's Jack…. but not him. He betrayed us...he lied to us.'
"Was everything just a game to you then? A big fun game?"
I searched Jack's eyes for the answer I wished dearly to be there. That this wasn't happening, that Jack, my friend was not an army spy. His eyes cold as ice bore straight into mine.
"Yes. It was all a lie."
I stepped back from the pair as my mind attempted to absorb the info.
'Jack...no Konatsu was, IS, my enemy.'
I wrapped my manipulative zaiphon around the sword Konatsu now had strapped to his waist. I yanked as quickly as I could and back away.
"Then, you are my enemy."
The cheery man besides Konatsu laughed lightly.
"You are a fool."
"I am no fool, warsfiel."
"Oh, you are Eve. To tell from just looking at a person that they are a warsfiel, not many can do that."
"I AM NOT EVE. I am ANGEL!"
I pulled at my strings to slice his candy stick in half.
"Now you did it sweetheart."
I felt a rush of wind and I ducked the blow I knew was coming. I created a line with my zaiphon and waited to hear a thud of a man falling and growled in frustration as I knew he hopped over it.
I looked at the man in front of me and sent out tendrils of zaiphon attempting to grasp his hands and feet. He nimbly dodged the strings and charged at me.
I felt the weariness of the test gain on my movements as I tried to sidestep his charge and felt the slice of his blade cut my arm. I hissed at the pain and backed away. Then an arm wrapped around my waist from behind and I felt a hard body behind me. The cold emanating from the steel sword near my neck made me shiver.
"Give up, you lost Angel," Konatsu whispered in my ear. I felt the sharp pain at the side of my head and the world faded to the inky darkness.
***Konatsu***
I looked at the collapsed girl in my arms and sighed.
'Stubborn, through and through.'
I pushed the bangs out of her face carefully.
"KONA-CHAN! You shouldn't kiss a girl when she's knocked out!"
I blushed furiously.
"WAS NOT!"
"Whatever," he sang and pointed at the black portal behind him, "Don't make Aya-tan wait."
He stepped in first and then I followed, heading to where my Chief was.
The sight before me was a sight to behold.
Teito Klien stood before Ayanami and Kuroyuri. Kuroyuri had an odd pink and black flower attached to him.
"ANGEL!" Teito cried out once he saw me, "JACK WHAT ARE YO-" He stopped mid-sentence as he stared at my uniform. His eyes showed that he understood right and away and he released a slash of blue zaiphon at me, enraged by the truth.
'Much more world weary and cynical than Angel.'
"GIVE HER BACK!" Teito hopped above Chief Ayanami and place a shield to defend himself. He darted out to the side of us so that he would have no enemies to his back and charged at me. I pulled out the katana Hyuuga had graced me with and took an awkward stance, unable to finish it fully with Angel in my arms.
He stopped his charge and stepped back. He shot several blades of zaiphon at me and I sidestepped or hopped over them neatly.
A blade slid out in front of me and Angel. It lined neatly with her throat and I followed the blade to Hyuuga.
"Stop or pretty girl gets her neck cut."
Teito froze.
"Smart boy," Chief Ayanami mocked. "Now how about handing over the Eye in your hand?"
There was silence as Teito glared down Ayanami.
"I will not ask once more. Hand over the Eye of Mikhail, NOW."
"If you really planned to kill her you wouldn't have collected her in the first place…"
Ayanami-sama drew his sword and stalked up to me. He grabbed hold of Angel's arm and sliced a thin cut across her neck. Teito and I gasped. Blood came out thickly, dripping down her clothes, dying her white outfit a brilliant red.
"STOP!"
A crash of the door drew my attention.
"CHIEF AYANAMI, SIR! IT'S ZEHEL!"
"FRAU! GET ANGEL!" Teito screamed.
Ayanami-sama tsked and created a portal behind him.
"GO, I'll buy time."
I ran to the portal and hopped in. I saw the others follow. The impact of landing on the steel floor jarred my shoulder and I grimaced. I looked up to see out the front window. A couple of Hawksvilles circled the sky in front of us.
Chief Ayanami came through last and tossed Angel to me.
"Get Eve to the infirmary." He turned away from me to face Hyuuga, "Get out there and find Teito and Zehel. They are on a hawksville trying to escape. 1st priority is the Eye."
"Yes Aya-tan," Hyuuga smiled and headed to the back. I picked up Angel carefully and ran to the infirmary. I kicked the door open and placed her on the bed.
"Please heal her!" I yelled to one of the men.
He pushed me away and studied the cut on her neck. He quickly got to work.
"OI! We have a critical over here. Sliced across the neck."
Three other men came over and began working on Angel and I backed away quietly.
'Oh gods. Don't let her die. I don't care if she hates me, don't let her die.'
~10 min later~
A loud crashing sound caught my attention and I ran to the bridge. I stood staring at the amazing sight before me. Two of our Ribdezilles had been shot, holes bored into their wings, and were descending at an amazing rate.
"Chief Ayanami, Sir! Ship Units 9 and 10 have fallen sir."
I glanced at Ayanami and he stared at the scene before him grimly.
"We are unable to enter the zone where they have fallen, freely."
Another voice called out, "Sir! The individuals from the Barsburg Church seem to be decelerating!"
"Follow them...I want to end this quietly."
A small man with lavender hair and large Amethyst colored eyes stood on an armored Hawksville before us.
"I see an Imperial Military ship, praised to be the finest in the empire, led by Chief of Staff Ayanami, yet in a restricted flight zone. It is forbidden to come into any conflict here, what are you doing here?"
Ayanami paused to stare at the man and stepped out of his chair. He went near the front and grabbed the microphone.
"My deepest apologies for the lack of gratitude. We are heading towards Antwort to rescue our companions from the battlefront. If it were a simple matter of the shortest route we would prefer pass through the North route. However in the winter the winds and currents are opposite it is impossible to travel by ship which ride on the winds. We wish to immediately help our comrades, can we not pass through here?"
The purple man's face remained calm, even though I could see this man understood the truth.
"Your message shall be relayed to the Pope."
I smiled at Ayanami.
'Genius leader as always. I truly admire Ayanami-sama for his great skills and loyalty to the country.'
I returned to look at the man.
"My thanks, beautiful Profe," Ayanami-sama sneered. I glanced sharply back at Ayanami-sama. His face had twisted into a cruel and evil sneer and hatred crossed every line in his face. I stepped back slightly.
Then Ayanami circled around his face once more a mask of calm.
"Go follow the path, the pope has let us travel, shall we?"
Ayanami looked at me.
"How is Eve doing?"
"Angel is currently in a stable condition once more, though near death unless healers stay on her for an hour."
"See to it that Eve will remain alive. Bind her in chains that stop Zaiphon once she has been adequately healed. I do not wish to have our prisoner leaving so soon."
I saluted.
"Yes sir."
~1 hour later~
I stepped into the infirmary to check on Angel.
"She will always have a scar on her neck now, we are unable to do much more."
I nodded.
"She can be moved to her own room now."
"Thank you for your service. It is greatly appreciated." I bowed to the healer thankfully.
"No need for thanks, just doing my job," The healer grinned at me, "She's someone special to you ain't she?"
I smiled.
"Yes. Yes she is."
I carefully carried her to the room designated for her by Ayanami-sama and placed her carefully down. I lightly thumbed the long, pale scar on her neck.
'I'm sorry.'
I placed the chains on her and clasped them together tightly.
'I'm sorry. I didn't think you would ever need to know.'
