A/n: This chapter was really hard for me to write. I hope you get feels. Let me know in the reviews section if you did. I hope you enjoy.
"Are you going to tell Luke before he gets on the plane?" Sarah asks. She's sitting on Clementine's bed, watching Clementine get ready.
Today was the day. Luke was getting on a plane from Athens to Chicago and he wasn't going to be coming back anytime soon. Especially not in time to be there when Clementine has her baby. But if Clementine told Luke that she was having his baby, there was no way he'd leave. She didn't want him to give up his dream of being a rock star, especially when he was so close. Her dreams were smaller, based in Athens, and would be a little harder to achieve with a baby, but not impossible.
"No, maybe I'll tell him when he comes back." Clementine says.
"Didn't you say his mom knows? And, I mean, you're not gonna stay tiny forever. You will have a baby bump and Nick will see it. You don't think he's gonna tell Luke?" Sarah asks.
"I'll just ask him not to." Clementine answers, unsure.
"Oh, and you think he's just going to do that?"
"Okay, I don't know!" Clementine shouts, "I really don't know what I'm gonna do! I haven't figured it all out, but I'm doing my best."
"Okay, okay. Sorry," Sarah apologizes, "But maybe you should consider telling him before someone else does."
"No one is going to tell him." Clementine insists, "Could we please stop talking about it? Please?"
"Fine, fine." Sarah grumbles, "Are you ready to go? We're supposed to see Luke off in an hour and a half."
"Yeah, I'm ready." Clementine says, "I just need to take a prenatal pill and then we can head out."
The airport was surprisingly busy for a Sunday afternoon. Sarah pointed out that it was about to be winter vacation and that a lot of people were heading out for the next month. Clementine also pointed out that at least one person was heading out for the rest of his life.
"Hey Clem," Nick greets them, "Sarah."
Sarah gives him a contrite smile, but doesn't say anything. She had gotten really drunk last night, but she still remembered everything that happened.
"Hey," Clementine says, looking around at the small group assembled for Luke. The only other people that were there besides Nick, Sarah, and herself, were Alvin and Rebecca. Rebecca had already started to show, her tummy round and slightly protruding. Clementine's stomach twists when she realizes that she's going to look like that in a short time.
"Clementine." Rebecca sneers, still mad at Clementine for what happened with Carver. Although Clementine felt like she should be the mad one, Carver put her in the hospital.
"Rebecca," Clementine greets her, trying not to sound rude. She didn't want to cause any problems today.
"Are you gaining weight, Clem?" Rebecca asks, looking the younger girl up and down.
Clementine gives her a tight smile. "No, I'm not. You are though. How far along are you? Seven months?"
"I'm five months." Rebecca corrects her, insulted.
"Oh. Let me just say, from the bottom of my heart," Clementine touches her heart sincerely, "my bad."
Rebecca rolls her eyes, "So, Nick. When is Luke supposed to be here?"
"I'm here," Luke says, pulling a rather large suitcase behind him. He had a guitar case strapped to his back, and he had a large pillow tucked under his arm. "Thanks for coming, guys."
"Of course, man." Nick says, patting Luke on the back, "We wouldn't miss it for the world."
"Yeah, dude. You're a great friend. We're gonna miss you." Alvin says, "You'll be a helluva rock star."
"Thank, man." Luke says, grinning. He looks over at Rebecca, and lets go of the handle on his suitcase. He holds his arms out and gives her a hug, "You look great, Bec. You have, like, a motherly glow."
"I wonder why that is," Rebecca smiles, "Are you scared, Luke? You're not even legally an adult and you're gonna be on your own in the big city."
"I'll be eighteen in a few weeks." Luke argues, "Besides, I'll be so busy, it won't even feel like I'm all alone. Besides, I'll be touring within a year or so, so I'll be back in Georgia. Maybe you all can see me. I'll make sure you guys get some V.I.P. passes or something. It'll be rad. And, you know, if you're ever in Chicago..."
"Maybe Bec and I can try to go up there before we start college, during the summer." Alvin suggests, wrapping his arm around Rebecca's waist and pulling her close.
Clementine and Sarah exchange surprised looks. They weren't privy to much school gossip, but they figured they would have known that Alvin and Rebecca had worked things out. Maybe it was for the best. Rebecca's child would have both a mother and a father, which is more than Clementine could say.
"Oh, hey, Sarah. I thought you were leaving today too?" Luke asks.
Sarah shakes her head, "I was going to leave today, but my dad convinced me to stay here for another semester. He wants to spend as much time with me as possible before I absolutely have to leave for Harvard. Otherwise, I would be here with my suitcase, telling everyone good-bye... And... And..." Her voice cracks as she begins to tear up. Luke hands Nick his big pillow, and pulls Sarah in for a hug.
"You're gonna be great, Sarah. Getting into Harvard was the hard part, the rest of it is cake. I believe in you." Luke says, comfortingly.
Sarah smiles, sniffling. "I believe in you too, Luke." She pulls away from him, looking at Clementine, shyly.
Nick steps forward, causing Sarah to step back. Him and Luke hug, in a very many way, patting each other on the back heartily. "I'm going to really miss you, man." Nick says, gruffly.
"You too, Nick." Luke says, smiling sadly, "You're my best fucking friend in the whole world. You should apply for college in Chicago."
"Man, why are you trying to get us all to move to Chicago?" Nick jokes, "Why don't you just buy a twenty-room mansion with your fucking rockstar money?"
"Why? So you can just mooch off me?" Luke grins.
"Yeah. What's the point of having a rockstar for a best friend if you can't mooch off him? Damn it, Luke. You gotta be useful for something."
Luke rolls his eyes, "Alright. I'll let you know when I buy that mansion, just let me know whenever you're ready-"
A voice from the overhead P.A. system interrupts Luke. "All passengers for flight 497 to Chicago, Illinois, please make your way to Gate 2A. All passengers for Flight 497 to Chicago, Illinois, please make your way to Gate 2A. Thank you for choosing American Airways for your travel needs."
Luke looks around the group, "I guess this is it then, huh?" Everyone gives him a sad smile, confirmation that this was the last time they'd see Luke for a while. Luke locks eyes with Clementine, "Clem, would you walk me to the gate?"
Clementine steps forward and follows Luke to the gate. A man stood at a podium, checking people's tickets before the entered the gates and boarded their flights. Luke stops before reaching the gate. He grabs Clementine by the waist and pulls her to him, kissing her heavily, earning dirty looks from nearby people.
"God, Clem. I didn't want to say this in front of everyone, but I'm gonna miss you the most." Luke says, pressing his forehead to hers, "I'm gonna miss seeing you pretty much everyday. I'm gonna miss looking at your beautiful face. Laying next to you after we do it five times, just looking at you. You calling me mean names." He runs his thumb across Clementine's bottom lip, "And I'm especially gonna miss kissing these lips."
Clementine looks up at him, her eyes wet with tears she hasn't spilled yet. There's so much she wants to tell Luke. Things like how much she loved him, or how much she would miss him, but those were things that couldn't be helped. She wanted to tell him the one thing he didn't know, but she couldn't. She just wanted to freeze time, just as they were, looking at each other, their foreheads pressed together, their lips so close, but so far.
"Can I have one of your shirts?" Clementine asks.
Luke looks taken aback by the question, "What? A shirt? All of them are packed away- Fuck. Hold on." He puts down his pillow and lets go of the suitcase handle. He grabs the shirt he was wearing, a brown shirt with a white neckline, and pulls it over his head, off his body. He's wearing a white, undershirt underneath, so that he's decent. He hands the shirt to Clementine.
"I give you the clothes off my back. I'd give you anything. Everything. Just... Wait for me, would you?" His voice is so sincere and soft. He only ever spoke like this to Clementine.
Clementine nods, "I'll wait for you forever."
Luke smiles brilliantly, before taking Clementine's face in his hands and kissing her like his life depends on it. Because he feels like it just might. This kiss has to last them until the next time they see each other, and who knew when that would be.
"I love you." Luke says.
"I love you too." Clementine whispers back.
Luke lets go of her face, grabbing his pillow and his suitcase. He walks over to the man at the podium and hands him his ticket. The man hands it back to Luke, who shoves the ticket in his pants pocket. Before he passes through the gate, he looks back at Clementine, longingly. He mouths the words, "I love you", again. Clementine smiles sadly, mouthing it back.
Before she knew it, he was gone. That was the last time she was going to see him, and kiss him, and talk to him, and touch him, and smell him.
Before she knew it, her cheeks were streaked with tears.
She felt Sarah's hands touch her back, before enveloping her in an embrace. Clementine clutches Luke's shirt close to her chest, crying into Sarah's shoulder.
