Six weeks later…

As Patrick watched Sabrina conversing with Felix at the nurse's station, he thought about how concerned he was for her. After the funeral, Megan, the bitch that she was, precluded Sabrina from seeing Nori. Even though Sabrina was Nate's wife, she had no legal claim on the little girl, so she'd lost not only her husband but her daughter within the span of a few weeks. Although Sabrina continued to work, she'd become withdrawn and melancholy and had lost a noticeable amount of weight. From experience, Patrick knew that the grief was beginning to eat her alive, but every time he tried to talk to her about it, she became defensive and angry and didn't want to hear it. He could see her slipping away the way that he had, but there was nothing he could seem to do about it and it was killing him.

Patrick had just looked away from Sabrina and returned his attention to the chart he was working on when he heard Felix shout Sabrina's name worriedly. When he looked up, Patrick saw Sabrina laying on the floor and Felix kneeling beside her, so he rushed over. "Felix! What's wrong?"

"We were talking and she just fainted. I don't know what's wrong, Patrick."

Patrick kneeled on the other side of her and tried to bring her around, but she wouldn't budge, so he called for additional help and ran with Sabrina as she was transported down to the ER. When they got there, they were met by Lucas Jones, who directed them to take Sabrina to the nearest cubicle and then promptly precluded Patrick and Felix from going inside it with her.

"I'm not leaving her," Patrick said adamantly as Felix chimed in with, "Me neither."

"I understand you are both concerned, but the ER nurses and I have it covered. You'll be more of a hindrance than a help." WIth that, Lucas closed the curtain and dismissed them.

Patrick paced outside her cubicle for what seemed like forever as he and Felix were joined by Epiphany and Elizabeth, who peppered them with questions they didn't have answers to. A few minutes later, Lucas came outside. "Well?" Patrick demanded.

He looked at the group of people. "She's awake and seems to be fine. I started her on some fluids since she is pretty dehydrated and drew some blood so we can try to get to the bottom of why she fainted - if there is a medical reason for it."

"What are you implying?" Patrick asked, dangerously.

Lucas looked at him funny. "She's grieving, Patrick. It's not that much of a leap attribute her fainting to stress and lack of sleep. However, if there is a medical reason for it, we'll find it."

Sabrina felt like roadkill, but managed to smile when Patrick walked into her cubicle. "Hey," he said worriedly.

"Hi."

"How are you feeling?"

"Awful," she said. Then, "But that's nothing new these days, so…"

Patrick pulled the rolling stool over next to her bed and sat down. After taking her hand, he said, "I know you are upset over everything that's happened, but you need to take care of yourself, Sabrina."

Sabrina yanked her hand away. She was tired of everyone telling her what to do and how she should feel. "I don't want to hear it, Patrick. I'm fine. I just forgot to eat or something."

"Forgot to eat?" Patrick frowned. "Sabrina, think about who you're talking to here."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"I've been where you are. You can't fool me."

Sabrina side-eyed him to try to make him shut up, but he continued anyway. "You're letting your grief eat you alive. Nate wouldn't want that for you, Sabrina."

"How the hell do you know what Nate would want?" she said, losing her temper. "You aren't a mind reader and it's not like he's here to tell you."

Patrick said her name pityingly (God, she was tired of the pity), but was interrupted before he could continue by Lucas entering the cubicle. Not beating around the bush, he said, "I have the results of your blood work. I know why you fainted."

"Why?" Patrick asked before she could.

Lucas hesitated to answer and looked at her for permission. She nodded indicating that he could talk in front of Patrick. Chances are he'd find out what was going on with her one way or another anyway, so this was just easier.

Instead of coming out with a diagnosis, Lucas said, "Seems history is repeating itself. Remember the last time you fainted and were brought to GH?"

Sabrina thought back. The only time she'd ever been admitted to GH because of fainting was back when she had HG. She looked at Lucas and asked, "Are you sure?" as Patrick looked on confusedly.

"Positive."

At his affirmation, Sabrina's hand traveled instinctively to her stomach and tears of joy started to fall from her eyes. "This can't be happening."

Patrick looked between her and Lucas and asked, "What's happening?" just as Lucas said, "I'm going to admit you for observation so we can get your symptoms under control and so you can get some much needed rest. In the meantime, I'll pass along your chart, okay?"

Sabrina nodded, still in disbelief. "Yeah. Thanks, Lucas."

"Anytime. I'll be back to check on you a little later."

Once Lucas had gone, Sabrina could tell Patrick's patience had worn thin. He jumped up from the stool and perched on the edge of the bed facing her. "Sabrina, what was that? What's going on?"

Too tired to beat around the bush, Sabrina answered. "I'm pregnant."
