~Strawberries chapter 38~

I woke up the next morning.

It was silent.

So silent.

Ven wasn't crying.

In fact Ven wasn't making any noises.

I looked over to where I put him and he was gone.

The window was open.

My wallet was gone.

The money in my sock drawer was gone.

My Winchester knife was gone

I went downstairs and the money in the cookie jar was gone too.

I looked in his room and in my mother's room.

Then I realized it.

It took Naminé three days to find out she

wasn't seeing me or Ventus again.

She was gone.

My son was gone.

I was left to think of why and how

I could think of a way that did get her back.

Naminé I loved you.

Where would she go?

I stuck out my thumb in the middle of the road.

A few cars whizzed by spinning me around.

I felt dizzy.

Ventus cried quietly and I soothed him

A big rig pulled up in front of me

A guy opened the door

"Hey little lady you need a ride?"

He asked

I nodded

He helped me into the rig

"Where you running from?"

He asked

I shrugged

"My Name's Demyx. I'm heading to..

Oh is that a baby? Look at him look at how cute he is!"

Demyx said

I smiled happily

"What's his name?" He asked

I held my throat

"Oh you can't talk."

He said

I pulled out a pen and paper

"My name is Naminé, My baby's name is Ventus

but you can call him Ven."

I wrote

"Heh, That's a cool name.

Where you headed Miss

Naminé?"

He asked

I shrugged again

"Well you look to me like you

need a job and a place to live.

I have a friend who can help you.

It just so happens I'm headed over there right now."

He said

I nodded happily then yawned

"Why don't you go take a nap in the back?

I won't hurt you.

I nodded again and took Ven with me.

As I walked to the back room of Demyx's rig.

"There's canned soup if you're hungry."

He said

I reached into my duffle bag and pulled out

Roxas's knife

I shoved it in my bra and soothed

Ven until he was asleep.

I closed my eyes and before

I knew it the rumbles of the road

had lulled me to sleep.

When I woke up

Demyx was just stopping.

"Oh I was about to wake you. We're here."

He said

I was groggy as I walked out of

Demyx's rig sleepy and rubbing my eyes.

"LIGHTNING! TABLE FOR TWOOO!"

He said

An obviously tired and annoyed waitress came up

"Get the fuck out!" She said pulling out her notepad

"Hello to you too Claire! May I have some blue club soda?"

Demyx asked

Just then Lightning pulled out a knife seemingly from nowhere.

"I WILL KILL YOU WHERE YOU STAND!"

She said banging her fist on the table.

Just then Ven let out a few sobs and began crying

"Oh Honey, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to make you cry!"

Lightning cooed to Ventus

"Lightning is a tough bitch, But she has a soft spot for babies."

Demyx said

I wish you were here Roxas.

"She needs a job Lightning,"

Demyx said

"Like what kind of job?"

Lightning asked going back to her usual toughness

"You always said you need more waitresses."

Demyx replied

I looked off to the side

I missed Roxas.

I knew I couldn't have taken him with me.

But I wish I could have atleast said goodbye.

"Hey you, what's your name?"

Lightning asked

I showed her the note I wrote earlier for Demyx.

"Oh I see, a mute."

She said

I shrugged

"Well you're lucky, One of my other girls just quit.

So I guess you're hired…"

Lightning said

then she whistled.

Three girls lined up all in their uniform

"This one is Vanille,"

Lightning said

"Hi!"

Vanille said smiling

"This is Yuffie."

Lightening said

Yuffie waved at me

"Hello! I'm the great ninja Yuffie and I-"

She was interrupted by Lightning

"This is Selphie."

Lightening said putting a hand on Selphie's head

"HI! I'M SO HAPPY TO MEET YOU! MY NAME IS SELPHIE AND I-"

She was again cut off by

Lightening who simply gestured

"Our bartender doesn't live in the dorms and Vanille lives with her husband Hope. That's his name right?"

She said looking at Vanille

She nodded yes

"Okay, So let's feed you and we'll discuss the rules."

Father came home from work.

I was sitting in the corner of my room in the dark.

"Roxas?"

He called out

I heard him come up the stairs

"Roxas, Where's Ventus?"

He asked

"Gone"

I mumbled

"Gone?"

Father asked

I nodded

I guess he didn't believe me

He checked the nursery, in my bed,

in the closet and finally pulled up my arms so he could see

I wasn't holding Ventus in my arms.

Then he called Mother.

Five minutes later I heard her car in the driveway.

"Cloud!"

She screamed as she ran up here.

Double checking everywhere Father had checked before.

As I lay limp like a rag doll.

In seconds father was on the phone with the mental asylum.

Mother was on the phone with the police as she got on the phone and started making flyers.

I knew none of that would work.

Hadn't they seen the news? Nobody gave a shit about those flyers.

I felt so alone.

But I knew what I had to do to get Naminé back.

"Lights out at nine except on Friday then it's at ten.

Curfew is strictly at 8:00pm. It is strict I've locked out Selphie and

Vanille a few times."

"True."

Selphie said walking to the kitchen with an armload of dishes

"You are allowed no boyfriends."

Lightening said

Vanille winked at me

"She thought Hope just liked coming here to eat pot-roast"

She said smiling

"And that's totally why he stuck around for Vanille's breaks and tipped her twenty bucks each time."

Selphie said

"Well, I gotta go." Demyx said stretching his arms

I looked at him

"Aw, man! Girly don't look at me like that! I'll be back on the way home!"

Demyx said

I smiled and ran to hug him

"You be good for Lightning 'kay she'll kick my ass if you aren't."

He said walking out the door

Lighting lead me to my room

"This is your room. It contains a dresser, a miniature refrigerator, and a bed.

When you leave it better have all of those."

Lighting said

I nodded

"It's getting late, Tomorrow we'll start training you.

Goodnight Dear."

Lightning said

I shut the door as she left and laid Ven down on the bed

Ventus cooed happily as I dressed into my nightgown and joined him on the bed

I sighed and remembered the first time Roxas had invited me into his bed.

It wasn't for sexual pleasure.

He just wanted me to be by his side.

It's strange now to think about it.

I yawned and shut my eyes.

Tomorrow would be difficult.

Quietly I packed a backpack Clothes, a blanket, Sora's knife.

I quietly spilled the context of Sora's wallet into my hand.

Then Xion's, then Father's.

I felt bad for doing this but I needed the money.

I walked outside locking the door behind me

It was about 12:00am

I walked out to the interstate and stuck out my thumb.

A few cars whizzed by

I waved at them

Nobody pulled over.

I started walking every time I saw a car drive by

I stuck out my thumb a brightly colored van pulled over

"Need a ride little buddy?"

The drive asked

"Axel?!"

I said

"Nah, Man! I'm Lea! Ya need a ride?"

He asked again

I nodded and he pulled open the door

A bunch of teenage kids around my age were smoking week passing around the joint.

"AIght! This here is My babe Arlene*!

That's Myde*, Zexion and his little brother Ienzo!"

He said

By the looks of it everybody

except for me and the little boy.

Was high off their asses.

Myde tried passing the joint to me

"You dig brah?" He asked

I shook my head and passed it to

Zexion who was wearing a black beanie with Rastafarian

colors on it.

He took a hit

"Big brother! Can I have some now?"

Ienzo asked

"No."

He said

"So man what's your story?" Myde asked

I stayed silent

"Uncomfortable yah? Well don't worry we'll tell you ours first…"

Myde said

"Me and Zexy and Mommy and Daddy lived together.

Then Mommy went to heaven and Daddy started hitting us more.

So Zexy took me away and we're gunna go live at

Grandma's house in U Tall."

Ienzo said

"Utah." Zexion corrected

"Hey baby? You hungry? We've got food?"

Arlene asked from in front

I nodded and accepted a ho-ho from her

Then I began my story.

Woah! Sorry that took so long guys! I had finals weeks and it was terrible! Well tomorrow I have work BUT I AM ON CHIRSTMAS BREAK! So expect a few more updates alright?
