Two Pieces by InSilva
Disclaimer: do not own the wonderful characters.
A/N: so, a bit of a poem. And a bit of a conversation fic. Both for otherhawk (though she's read them before). Happy 17th March, mate, 2019 and always.
Unspoken words read;
A look that says forever;
The undying is born.
Sunshine eternal;
Basking in limitless love;
The con burns through them.
Harvest of riches –
Skills perfected, names secure:
True confidence men.
Frosted blood congeals.
Unbreakable ties dissolve.
Death makes life lonely.
"So, the short story...?"
"Malloys. Malloys' home brew. Drinking game. Tattoo parlour. Malloys."
"Uh huh."
"You seem a little less surprised than I -"
"Pre-emptive call from Virgil."
Mmm.
Mmm.
"So you asked for -"
"Tess. Inside a heart."
"You romantic, you."
"Definitely not 'I heart Terry' on my shoulder."
"I'm sure. We can sort it though."
"Can we?" Plaintive.
"Poker chips, a royal flush and Tess written underneath."
"Huh. Hmm."
"You're smiling. You like the sound of it."
You'll-
"Come with you? Of course. Hold your hand throughout if you like."
You'd better.
"If it helps, the Terry tattoo wasn't personal. Virgil and Turk meant Linus to end up with it. Tattoo artist got confused."
"So what did Linus -"
"Tess. Inside a heart." A shrug. "He called me too."
"Well, we've got to -"
"We will. First things first. Fix your shoulder. Fix Linus's hip."
"His hip?"
"He said hip."
Huh.
"And then find the Malloys-"
"and have a conversation."
"You're smiling again."
"It's a different smile."
"Oh, I know."
"See? You can smile like that too."
