There had been tension between Jax and Clay for weeks now. Dani had noticed it when they stopped talking to each other during their weekly SAMCRO parties. It was very unlike them, and it was bad for the club. A president and a vice president should have each others back no matter what, not hate each others guts.
Dani felt partly to blame for the tension. She knew some of it was because Clay had pretty much blackmailed her into keeping quiet about Donna. Jax hadn't taken it very slightly, and she could only wish she had told him sooner. If she only knew how her actions could also have an effect on the club.
"Are you gonna talk to Clay tonight?" Dani asked. She held Abel in her arms. He was eagerly awaiting his bottle, but she wanted to have this talk first.
Jax turned his head to her side. He was seated besides her on the couch, mindlessly watching the television. It was one of those rare nights where they had some time to spend together before one of them had to leave.
They were expected to make an appearance at the clubhouse tonight, but Dani had a feeling they weren't going to be there for long. This tension had so stop, especially if she was to blame for it. Dani didn't want to have the fall of a club on her name.
"What do you mean?" Jax asked stern, acting as if nothing was going on.
Dani rolled her eyes. "Come on. Everyone can see it, the tension between you two."
"There is no tension between us." He focused his eyes on the television again.
Dani looked around to see where the remote was, fetching it quickly. She pressed the OFF button and the room that was filled with noise coming from the reality show they were watching, was suddenly awfully quiet.
"Jax, come on," Dani said, trying to balance Abel on one arm so she could take his hand with hers, forcing him to look at her. "Just try to be nice to him. I don't know what's going on between the two of you, but you need to work it out, okay? For the club."
Dani had never really cared about what went on in the club, but this was clearly affecting Jax and she cared about Jax.
"I'll do my best," Jax said, not exactly on a convincing tone, but it was all Dani had to do with for now.
"I went to the real estate agent today," she said, wanting to bring up another subject so he wouldn't be grumpy for the rest of the evening. "They said my house will probably get sold in no time."
"That's great, babe!" he replied, his voice much warmer than a few seconds ago. "I'll tell the guys to help moving out all of your stuff."
Dani nodded. "That would be great."
"I can't wait for us to be a real family," Jax replied with a soft smile, placing a kiss on her lips before placing a kiss on Abel's forehead.
She had been at work in the café when she got the call. Gemma called her on her cell, which had Dani already guessing something was up. Gemma more often than not dropped by to tell her stuff personally, calling her on a cell phone usually indicated something bad had happened.
It was Chibs. He had been wounded really bad. Apparently there had been a car bomb in the parking lot at TM. He had been able to get out before he would've been blown up completely, but the explosion had still managed to hit him pretty hard.
Dani had left Darren in charge of the café while she rushed to the hospital, as she knew Jax would be needed some support. Hell, she needed some support as well. A car bomb just blew up at the parking lot of TM. What if it had been Jax? What if it had been her and she had been carrying Abel?
When she spotted Jax at the end of the hallway, she immediately rushed towards him, embracing him in a hug. "Are you okay?" Dani asked, maybe a little in panic.
Lately so much stuff had happened with SAMCRO, that Dani often wondered if this was the life she wanted to live. But then she tried to imagine a life without Jax and that was simply impossible. Danger seemed to come with the Jax Teller package, whether she liked it or not. That didn't mean however that she couldn't be afraid from time to time.
"Yeah," Jax nodded. "He's still in surgery."
Dani turned around. All the guys were here, sitting in chairs, sipping coffee. She couldn't help but notice they all had a very worried look on their face. They were barely past the Donna incident, they could not be losing another member so soon.
Her eyes fell on Gemma at the end of the hallway. She nodded in Dani's direction, telling her to keep over.
"I'm gonna see what Gemma wants," she told Jax. "I'll be right back okay?"
Jax nodded, his hand lingering on hers for a moment, before letting her go. Dani continued walking to Gemma, wondering what was up.
"I was gonna tell him today," Gemma began. "I'm not trying to stall, but I think it would be better if I wait until Chibs is cleared from any dangers."
Dani nodded. Even though she wanted Gemma to tell everyone about the rape as soon as possible, this might not be the right time. Everyone was concerned about Chibs, if they also had to deal with this, they would probably break down. She knew Jax especially would take it hard.
"I understand," she replied. "But you need to tell it soon, though."
"Yeah. I'm just waiting for the right time."
"What the fuck?" Dani suddenly muttered. She had spotted police men at the end of the corridor, heading in their direction. There were many of them, their hands already on their guns.
"Shit," Gemma replied, quickly rushing towards Clay. Dani followed her, standing before Jax who looked at the cops intensively.
"What is going on?" Dani asked him.
But he didn't reply.
She ran her fingers through her hair, her breathing getting irregular. It was obvious they were coming for them. What had they done now?
"Jax!"Dani shouted helplessly. "What is going on?!"
He put his hands on her hips, pushing her behind him. "Don't worry, babe," he muttered so softly only she could hear it. "I'm gonna be fine."
Dani gasped as a cop continued to put handcuffs on Jax. He spoke the usual thing cops always did when arresting something. "You have the right to remain silent."
She felt so helpless standing there. It was as if SAMCRO was surrendering to the police. What had they done? Dani could only imagine.
"Anything you say can an will be used against you."
Her vision went blurry. She grabbed Gemma's arm to steady herself. For a moment she eliminated all sounds around her, trying to think. But her mind was blank. She couldn't think anymore.
When Dani regained her vision, Jax was already down the hallway, followed up by the rest of the members accompanied by a cop.
"What is going on?" Dani asked Gemma, who seemed to handle it a lot better than she did.
She had never expected to ever have to deal with the Jax-going-to-prison scenario, yet it was happening right now and no one seemed to tell her anything.
"Gemma. What the fuck is going on?!" she shouted again, feeling as if her whole world had come crashing down on her.
A/N: Yay! I'm home again! I had a really nice holiday in Germany but I'm glad to be back again so I can write. I wanted this chapter to be longer, but my kitchen decided to flood itself with rain water tonight, so we spent about 3 hours cleaning everything up. Hopefully this chapter still satisfied some of your Jax/Dani needs. Take care and until next time!
