In Clary's dream, she was dancing.
She was wearing a gorgeous deep red dress, big and poufy just like in the movies.
It had a pretty long v neck, and she looked sexy, even though in real life she didn't have a big enough bust to pull off something like that.
Although the dress was red, it looked great with her hair, as this was a dream, and reality was distorted.
Clary was beautiful, elegant, and graceful. She looked happy, and she was almost glowing.
Around her was a sea of people, although she didn't recognize any of them.
She danced with a partner in a black suit, although she did not see their face.
The mystery man (for she assumed it was a man) twirled her around and around, and she felt like a fairy, flying through the air.
There was a calming song playing in the background, something beautiful and soft, probably piano, although Clary wasn't quite concentrating on the music, so she couldn't be sure.
All of a sudden, the music stopped. Clary was tugged away from her partner, and the world spun. Suddenly, she found herself in another man's arms.
It was Jace.
Clary scowled at him, she didn't want him to ruin her dream. She wanted to be able to forget about her new found brother. She was having a perfectly lovely time dancing with the mystery man.
She looked behind herself to find him, but he was nowhere to be seen. In fact, everyone had disappeared. It was just her and Jace, standing hand in hand in the middle of the ballroom.
Her eyes met his tawny ones, and he smiled at her. It was not a smirk, it was a smile, and it was beautiful. Clary could not help but smile back.
Suddenly, they were dancing. The crowd of people was back, and they were dancing too. Music was playing, but it was faster, and the dancing was faster.
Jace whirled her around, and Clary's head spun. They danced and danced and danced. The music got faster, its tempo kept increasing.
Jace kept dancing beautifully, but Clary could not keep up. She felt a dread settle upon her stomach, as the dancing got faster and faster and she was tripping and falling and stumbling, and Jace continued to dance.
Once again, the music stopped. The dancing people formed a circle around them.
Jace glared at Clary, his eyes flashed with hate.
He did not speak, but Clary knew what he was thinking. He was angry, she ruined the dance. She held him back.
He dropped her hand, and started to back away.
She cried out in shock, but when she tried to step toward him, tried to stop him, she found she was frozen in place.
When she tried to tell him to wait, she found her mouth would not open.
She was stuck.
Jace smirked, a cruel look upon his face, and turned his back to her, walking away.
Clary's world started to swirl, and she tried once again to cry out for Jaceā¦
"Jace!" Clary woke up, startled. She touched her cheek, and felt a salty tear upon it.
She found herself wishing Jace was there, wishing he would give her a hug and tell her it was all right.
Clary huffed, settling back on her bed. Jace was out hunting demons. He wouldn't want to comfort her.
And besides, he was her brother.
