So here it is all you lovely people who have read, followed and reviewed all of this. I hope you enjoy the last little instalment.
This day has come far too quickly but at the same time it felt like they had been waiting for this day their whole lives. Regina could not help but wonder what they were going to bicker about now that it was over. She was sure they would find something.
From her vantage point at the edge of the room she can see everything clearly but has no desire to return to the celebration just let. She knows that at most she had a matter of minutes before Emma or Henry usher her over. At this moment Henry was stood at his other mother's shoulder as she sat at the head table, her head turned towards him. Laughter written all over both of their features.
The sight of Henry in his perfectly fitted tuxedo had made Regina's heart swell this morning when he had stretched out his hand in order to walk her down the aisle. That feeling had barely compared to the way it felt. Her heart had stopped when she saw Emma waiting for her, they had bickered endlessly about what Emma was going to wear. In the end Regina has just told her to wear whatever she wanted as long as she turned up. So up until seeing her there was quite a large part of Regina convinced that Emma was going to turn up in a ratty pair of jeans and that hideous jacket that she had not quite managed to dispose of yet. Instead she got quite a surprise when she saw her in a dress, one that was simple and without any of the lace of frills normally associated with weddings. The dress clung deliciously to her figure. Later Regina discovered that the dress had a slit up the leg which allowed for occasional glimpses of her long and toned legs.
Ruby had obviously managed to get her hand on her friend's hair because it was pulled back into a simple ponytail but with an intricate braid on the crown of her head that allowed it to fit in with the rest of her attire. If Regina had been anybody else she would have stumbled upon seeing the radiant look on Emma's face, knowing that hers was a perfect mirror. In fact if it had not been for Henry's surprisingly strong grip keeping her upright she would have lost her footing.
She could not remember the vows, it had been a dream as she had stared into the eyes of the woman that she loved more than she thought she was capable of. Emma smile had grown wider when Regina had levelled with her.
"You are the most stunning person I have ever laid my eyes on." Emma had whispered when Regina was within earshot, her eyes lingering on the lace that covers Regina's shoulders before snapping back to her eyes.
"Likewise dear."
Archie ran the ceremony, another thing that had been discussed in length. Of course it made sense that Mother Superior led them in their vows but Regina would not hear of it, apparently she had some unresolved issues with the nun and Emma did not want to even begin to get into whatever that business might be. To their surprise Eugenia Lucas was also able to officiate but was ruled out because Regina was worried that if they did something she did not like, then her coffee supply would be cut off indefinitely. After Regina had imposed some changes to local businesses as mayor she had been cut off for almost two whole weeks and frankly it was Emma who did not want to relive that experience again. So they had asked Archie, it seemed fitting in the end as he had helped both of them become the women they needed to be in order to commit to one another.
The song for their first dance had been the discussion of the Swan-Mills household for weeks as neither woman wanted something that was "mushy" as Emma had put it, but they had struggled to agree on anything else in regards to the song. That was until finally Emma had made an impromptu visit to the Mayor's office looking rather sheepish. Regina attention had immediately been captured by the unusual expression on her fiancée's face and had put her pen down in order to give her the undivided attention she deserved.
"I found us a song," Emma had muttered, "and it is incredibly mushy."
It was Ed Sheeran's "Kiss Me" and despite Regina's initial and incredibly vocal protests, they had eventually settled on it. However, the second it had begun to playing that morning Regina knew they had made the right decision, so much of the song spoke directly into their lives.
Settle down with me
And I'll be your safety
You'll be my lady
Emma's arms had been curled round her waist as the song had begun to play, and Regina's hands had been wrapped around the blonde's neck keeping her close, as they had quietly whispered the words that resonated their relationship into each other's ears.
Yeah I've been feeling everything
From hate to love
From love to lust
From lust to truth.
In the end it was the perfect choice.
When they were to look back on the speeches and the meal, Regina was sure that she would remember how they had all laughed, easily and often. The fact that she was surrounded by people she ought to despise never once crossing her mind. Emma's champagne had gone right to her empty stomach, and she had caused laughter every time she had opened her mouth. Mary Margaret had timidly stood and told the story of Regina asking for permission to marry Emma before losing her nerve and actually having to be asked. They talked about how far they had come and laughed about the odd way many people in town had of showing their support. Henry had brought tears to every eye in the house when he tearfully spoke of how grateful he was that he mom's had found happiness in each other. It had been more than Regina could ever have dreamt and she knew that this was only the beginning of their journey together.
"Well dearie you appear to have caught yourself quite the happy ending." Mr Gold appears at her side, Regina grits her teeth at his presence and nods sharply. She had not wanted to invite him, but Emma had gently pointed out that she was a political figure and it would look bad to have the main businessmen in the town not invited, he could make life difficult for them if he wanted
"I never thought you were a foolish girl Regina, but I fail to see what you are trying to achieve here." Emma's gaze leaves Henry's and begins searching the room for her new wife, as Regina raises an eyebrow at Gold.
"Why do you assume I am trying to achieve anything?" She says calmly using her best politician's voice.
"Because from where I am standing you are set to lose," Gold's smirk makes Regina wish that she was built for punching people. How she would love to displace a few of his perfect teeth. "I know that you don't like to lose, your majesty."
"The game was rigged, I was always going to lose." Emma's eyes settle on Regina and a smile lights up her face. "At least this way, I lose on my terms."
"She is going to break the curse. It's her destiny," Gold says smugly, watching Regina intently waiting for her insecurities to rear their head.
Regina smiles when Emma waves her hand at her ushering her over.
"I know, frankly I am surprised it has not broken already." Regina nods at her wife and takes several steps forward before turning back to regard Gold. "When it does we are going to deal with it. My days of being manipulated by you are over. I am making my own path now, with my family."
With that she walks away from Gold without looking back and heads towards her little family. Who are laughing and pulling faces as she makes her way towards them.
A/N I know I didn't break the curse, but unless you wanted to still be reading this in another 30 chapters time... it will break some point in their future I am sure.
Thanks again!
