A/n: Alright time to update. Sorry they've been taking a while I've been surprisingly busy and my insomnia's gotten worse due to my stupidity and listening to Japanese urban legends. Anyways thanks to Animefangirl365, xconversegirl99x, smithback, Dbzfanlover4eva, SSJ God Goku, Ninuhuju and Guest for reviewing in the last chapter. Basically everyone had the same review because most people knew who the mystery fighter was which did make me start laughter for some reason. Also don't worry Guest I suck as spelling as well and thanks for the compliment it means a lot. Anyways on with the chapter I own nothing!
Chapter 38: Goku vs.….Gohan?
Gohan watched intently. The match was about to begin. The mystery fighter requested that he and Goku fight in an outdoor arena which the Crone granted. On the way there Goku had remarked that the fighter had…a "happy smell?"
"Master Roshi is something the matter? You've been awfully quiet for a while," Yamcha pointed out.
Roshi didn't respond as if lost in thought. Bulma had a feeling what he was thinking and decided to intervene.
"What are you worrying about? Goku's invincible now! There's no way he can lose!"
"That's not what I was thinking about…the masked man's voice sounds familiar…I have the feeling that I met him somewhere before….but I can't remember the details...I can sense he had a great aura of power," Roshi responded.
Gohan was curious after hearing this and decided to see for himself by feeling his power level. He had to admit this guy was much stronger than the average human. In fact he and Goku seemed to be evenly matched in power. This meant the results of the fight would be 50, 50. This also made Gohan a little nervous. So far all of the fighters would kill without a second thought. If this guy was the same he would try to kill Goku. After some thinking Gohan decided that if the mystery fighter went too far he would intervene. Before he had time to dwell in his thoughts any longer the match between Goku and the mystery fighter had begun.
The fight started pretty slow. The two opponents just stared each other down neither daring to make the first move. Finally Goku couldn't take it anymore and charged at the fighter attempting a headbutt of all things and then an uppercut (A/n: If you don't know what that is it's a punch going up like a rocket towards the Chin.) which were both dodged quiet easily. Goku attempted another punch but the fighter caught it and refused to let go. Goku finally broke free and was surprised when the fighter jumped behind Goku and head butted him in the back. Gohan quickly recovered and round housed the guy in the chin. They then went back to staring each other down.
'Just who is this guy?' Gohan thought noticing their similar fighting styles.
The fighter charged at Goku first this time trying to land a combo of punches. Goku blocked all of them and tried to retaliated with a side kick to the ribs. However the fighter grabbed onto Goku's foot mid-kick and hit him using the floor to stun him and shortly after threw him into the air.
Everyone was shocked as the 12 year old was flung into the air.
"He tossed him upwards! What's he planning to do?" Exclaimed Roshi.
The man jumped insanely high after Goku and axe kicked the child back down to the ground. (A/n: An axe kick is when you bring you foot straight up and bring your heel down hard.)
Goku fell into the ground making a hole. Everyone thought for sure he was out cold but he sprang right back up after his opponent who was still free falling. Goku side kicked him sending him flying into a brick wall. However the man recovered and instead of going through the wall, simply he kicked off it and went to side kick Goku. Goku knew he wouldn't be able to dodge it so he stood up tall in a fixed position ready to endure the blow. He was able to and the man landed a couple feet away from Goku.
"Wow, you're strong! This exciting!" Gohan said with a grin.
Despite the grin though Gohan could sense both fighters were tiring. It wouldn't be long before one of them ended this match.
The man cupped his hands. Gohan's eyes widened in shock.
'What! That's impossible!'
"KA…ME…"
"You're kidding! It's a trick right?!" Krillin tried to reassure himself.
However this was no trick. This fighter was about to perform a Kamehameha!
"HA….ME…..HA!"
The man released the energy beam from his hand aimed dead on for Goku. It hit! After that however Goku disappeared!
"An illusion move?!" The fighter yelled out in surprise.
"Yoo-hoo! I'm over here!" Called a voice from the sky.
Everyone looked up and saw Goku in the sky with a cheeky grin plastered on his face. Before the man finished the attack he must have done that so the man would go after the illusion rather than Goku.
"Now it's my turn to attack!" The child announced as he free-fell.
If the man wasn't wearing a mask the others would have seen his smirk.
"That was a fatal mistake! You don't have full control while in the air! This time you cannot escape!"
The man cupped his hands again charging up another Kamehameha. Goku did the same and started chanting. The man in shock of seeing the child do this stopped charging up his Kamehameha.
"What the?! You know the Kamehameha too?!" The man yelled.
Since he was too shocked to do anything he had no other option but to take on Goku's blast full force. The man was sent flying across the arena. When Goku landed he kicked off the ground and kneed the other fighter in the chest.
The man laid there motionless though not knocked out due to his moaning in pain.
"Hey do you surrender?" Goku asked knowing the answer was probably yes.
Everyone excluding the Crone and Gohan starting cheering.
"Don't start cheering yet guys. I don't think this fight is over,"
"Huh? What do you mean? There no way he could still be awake after that," Yamcha replied.
He didn't respond. He just kept staring intently at the arena. Then as fast as lightning the masked fighters hand shot up and he grabbed Goku's tail.
Gohan winced as he saw his father fall to ground.
'How did he know if you grab mine or fathers tail we lose all our strength? The only people who know that is Yamcha, Puar, my mother and now everyone here! Unless this guy is Yamcha from the future which I highly doubt there is no way he could have known!'
"He must have already known Goku's weakness!" Roshi revealed suddenly as if he had read Gohan's thoughts.
The man hit Goku against the floor using Goku's tail.
"You're a stubborn one aren't you? Still won't beg for mercy?" Goku's opponent asked.
Goku didn't say anything implying he had no intention of giving up.
"How did he know about Goku's weak point?!" Bulma yelled.
"Because he Goku's dead grandfather! Son Gohan!" Roshi replied.
Gohan's head wiped around faster than it should have before he could correct it. It was his name so he still responded to it and it had been a long time since he had heard his full name. He could only hope everyone was too shocked to notice. Either way him being Goku's dead grandfather and Gohan's great grandfather would explain the halo, Goku saying he smelt happy and knowing about Goku's weakness.
Suddenly there was a loud snap and everyone's attention was turned back to the battle field.
"OW!" Goku yelled putting his hands were his tail used to be as the mask fighter looked at him holding Goku's now detached tail.
'That's got to hurt…' Gohan thought moving his tail to make sure it was still there.
When Goku was done yelled in pain he looked at his opponent with fury in his eyes.
"How dare you rip off my tail! Now I'm mad!" Goku yelled getting into fighting stance. Just as he was about to strike the masked man spoke.
"Uncle. I lose. you've gotten quite strong. You've trained…well mostly…"
Goku's madness melted away and confusion took its place.
"How do you know my name?"
"But it seems you've been slaking in training your tail. I thought I warned you about that…"
Goku was speechless. For once in his life. There's no way this guy could be who he thought he was.
"Y…you don't mean…"
"My, my how embarrassing. It took you this long to figure it out?" He asked taking off his mask,"
"That's right lad…it's me." The man said his mask coming off.
The masked man was Goku's dead grandfather….
