'Ooh this is so exciting; my baby boy's getting married!' Cerina cooed cheerfully as she sat in Darren and Chris's living room.
'Mum, please' Darren blushed a little, but he still wrapped his arm around Chris tighter, pulling him in closer to his chest.
'I can't help it, you and Chuck are growing up too fast' Cerina dabbed at her eyes delicately. Chris and Darren looked at one and other with bemused expressions on their faces.
'Have you heard from them lately?' Chris asked, changing the topic of conversation.
'Ooh yes, they just arrived in Paris yesterday; they're planning on going to the Eiffel tower tomorrow.'
Chris smiled happily and gazed fondly at Darren. Darren smirked; Chris had been 'subtly' implying that he would love to go to Europe for their honeymoon.
'Well that's great, and how's my little niece?'
Oh she's a little handful that one really has the Criss genes in her' Cerina smiled fondly at Darren and Chris.
'Is she worse than Chuck and I were?'
'No, but she's not even a year old yet.'
'She's getting there, though' Chris said lightly.
'Yeah, I can't believe that it's been so quick, a year ago you were engaged to another man and Chuck and Casey were only engaged.'
There was a little uncomfortable pause at the mention of Hugh, but it passed quickly.
'SO what are your plans for tonight?' Chris asked Cerina.
'Well Charles and I really need a night to ourselves, we haven't had one in what seems like forever, so the reason I came over was to ask you two to look after Missy tonight.'
Chris grinned and glanced at Darren who went a little pale.
'Really? You really trust me, Darren Criss, to look after another human?' Darren asked a little dumbfounded.
'Honey, you've taken care of her before' Chris reminded him gently.
'Yes but I always had other people with me'
'And what am I, furniture?'
'No, no, what I mean…'
'Sweetie, it'll be alright, she loves you, and Chris, and she's honestly not that bad' Cerina said gently.
Darren looked wildly at the two comforting faces in front of him before he shrugged and agreed.
'Great, we'll drop her off at around seven for the night' Cerina said happily.
'That'll be fine. What are you two planning on doing?' Chris asked as he reached for his glass of water on the coffee table.
'Oh ok, stop right there, I really don't need to know what you and dad do in your free time' Darren said quickly.
Cerina and Chris chuckled.
'Dare, you have a dirty mind' Chris said playfully.
'Hey, I never said anything like them doing…that'
'Ok, enough, all we will be doing is having a romantic dinner with a long walk afterwards' Cerina said sternly.
Darren sighed happily and Chris nudged him in the ribs.
'Ouch, what was that for' he said angrily as he rubbed his ribs slowly with his free hand. 'What was that for?'
'You made your mother uncomfortable' Chris hissed.
'Alright, alright, no need to fight' Cerina intervened just as Darren opened his mouth to retort.
'Sorry mum.'
'Sorry Mrs Criss.'
'That's better, now I had better be off, I'll see you two at seven sharp.'
Cerina got to her feet and brushed off her pants.
Chris and Darren stood up with her and walked her out to the corridor.
'Bye mum, see you soon' Darren said as he pulled her into a tight hug.
'Yes, have a good rest of the day' Cerina patted her son gently on the back.
Chris watched them with a small smile on his face; his fiancé was such a great guy…and a mother's boy.
'Goodbye Chris, see you tonight' Cerina pulled Chris into a hug which he happily returned.
'Sure thing, Mrs Criss' Chris said happily.
Cerina smiled fondly at the two men then theft the apartment.
As soon as the door closed, Darren started to freak out.
'Oh my god, we should like…baby proof the apartment!'
'Darren, babe, calm down, she can't even walk yet, crawl yes, but we won't let her out of our sight.'
'Chris, I don't think you're grasping what a nearly one year old can do. When I was one, I crawled into the kitchen and pulled on a low hanging table cloth and nearly stabbed myself with a knife that fell down. Trust me Criss children are a handful.'
'Oh I know that, you're still a child at heart' Chris mumbled as they made their way back into the living room/
'Hey, I heard that!' Darren said grumpily.
'Oh you know I mean it as a compliment' Chris wrapped his arms around his shorter fiancé.
'Oh god, I love you' Darren mumbled happily.
'I love you too, now we had actually better remove all sharp objects from easy to reach areas.'
Darren leapt out of Chris's arms and immediately yanked the sword of Gryffindor that Chris gave him from its place on the wall.
'Babe I highly doubt she could have reached that' Chris called out as Darren raced it to their bedroom.
Seven o'clock rolled around too fast for Darren's liking but he put on a brave face when Charles, Cerina and Missy arrived at their doorstep.
'Mum, dad, good evening' he said in an oddly formal voice.
'Oh Darren, calm down. It'll be good practise for you' Charles said as he walked in after his wife and granddaughter.
Darren blushed a deep shade of red and closed the door behind him.
'Please don't mention that in front of Chris' he whispered.
'I won't, I won't. And where is my son-in-law-to-be?' he called out in his booming voice.
'In the living room Mr Criss' Chris's voice floated back towards them.
Darren and Charles walked into the room to find Chris already playing with Missy on the floor.
'Now her bedtime is at eight sharp, I have packed enough formula for tonight, all through the night and tomorrow morning. You will have to have her sleeping with you two tonight, make sure you don't squash her in your sleep, and there are a lot of diapers, many extra just in case' Cerina said in a rush.
Darren gulped, diapers, they were a foreign concept to him; he had never once changed a diaper.
'Right-O, now you two hurry along, we don't want to keep you waiting' Chris said happily.
'Right, well goodnight, we'll see you three in the morning.'
Cerina swooped down and kissed Missy on her curls before smiling at Darren and Chris and left the house along with Charles.
Darren looked pleadingly over at Chris the minute the door closed with a slight snap.
'Help' he moaned.
'Oh Darren, grow a pair' Chris said happily and he pushed a toy over to Missy who giggled and picked it up in her pudgy fist.
Darren watched them for a moment before he too sat on the ground next to Missy, opposite Chris.
Missy turned and smiled ay Darren before returning her attention back to the toy that Chris gave her.
'See it's not so bad' Chris said gently after five minutes.
'No' Darren agreed.
That's when it all went to hell.
A moment later Missy got bored with the toy and chucked it aside, and using her newly found ability of crawling, she started to move towards the coffee table.
Darren's eyes blew open when he saw her move away from him, Chris, however, caught Missy and returned her to a safer point in the room, and of course, she started to howl.
'Um, I'll be in the bedroom, you know, masturbating' Darren said wildly.
'Babe, that's honestly the worst excuse you have ever made up, she's just throwing a hissy fit' Chris said soothingly.
'Well what should we do?' Darren asked, his voice an octave higher from fright.
'Give her some attention, show her some love' Chris said gently.
He pulled Missy into his arms and started to stroke her hair.
She stopped wailing and after a moment crawled back to the abandoned toy and started to play with it again.
Chris stood up and sighed. He turned to Darren with a small smirk on his face.
'"masturbating" really Dare, that's the best you could have come up with?'
'Shut up, I panicked' Darren said defensively.
'Is that what you do when you panic, god you would be no help in a zombie apocalypse.'
Hey, shut up' Darren said as Chris laughed at his own joke.
Darren grabbed a thro pillow and threw it at Chris; Chris ducked just in time, but the resulting crash when the pillow hit a glass picture frame, made Missy cry again.
'It's alright Dare, you don't need to masturbate' Chris laughed as Darren's eyes bugged open.
Chris made his way over to Missy and cradled her close to his chest, but that did nothing.
'Oh my god, what does she want?' Darren yelled five minutes later when Missy was still crying.
'I think she's tired, we'd better get her to bed' Chris called out over her insistent crying.
It turned out that Chris was right.
'Oh my god, you're like Supernanny' Darren sighed after Missy had finally stopped crying.
'Yeah, well, I did use to watch that' Chris said absently.
They were both standing in the doorway, looking in at the sleeping baby with their arms folded across their chests.
They stood there, watching her sleep for a moment before someone knocked on the door.
'Could you get that?' Chris whispered.
'Ok, be right back' Darren kissed Chris gently on the temple before he left to answer the door.
He heard some scuffling coming from behind the door and got curious, who would be here at this hour?
His question was answered immediately as soon as he opened the door.
'SURPRISE!' The Colfer family shouted in Darren's face.
He smiled happily at Karyn, Tim and Hannah who were all standing there with their arms open.
But his smile slid off his face when he heard Missy howl from the other room, the Colfers had woken her up.
