In Central City, Edward, Alphonse and Donald were recovering in the hospital when Kairi paid them a visit and told Edward the big news, that she would tag along with the Fullmetal Alchemist in his journey. Her reasons are obviously to restore Sora's memories, but her second reason to follow Ed was to keep Sora from becoming the same puppet whose strings were pulled by someone...named 'RAVEN'...
That night in Risembool, Winry noticed a screw with the tag number '62' on it, and remembered where it was supposed to go...in Edward's Automail Arm!
Stunned by her careless action, Winry tried to avoid telling her grandmother, Pinako (who figured it out already). Just then, a boy in a black cloak named Roxas arrived and asked if the Rockbells saw a girl with black hair around. While Winry chatted with Edward on the phone about Automail repairs, Pinako told Roxas that the girl headed for the old mines, where he darted off in haste to find his friend...

Chapter 147: Cloaked Light
Inside Hollow Bastion, Crimson had some time to himself in his throne room. He filled a glass with a rich grape whine and stepped onto the balcony, starring at the peaceful sunrise, and said, "My agendas were the same, though with different actions. I aim to rescue the human race from the pigs that control them in Amestris, the Homunculus. When the country collapses into the pit of eternal cries and pain, the world can breathe a sigh of relief. That was it, but you see, I have encountered two boys who surprised me. Yes, I was 'surprised', I was never expecting these two to cause me so much trouble, but through skill and will, they succeeded, especially this…Edward Elric."
Crimson turned around to face Namine, who was sitting in a chair, unsure of what to make of her new host. Crimson continued, "He wields no Keyblade, yet has the uncanny ability to outfox me. He has no armor, yet remains to this day untouchable. And though he is a State Alchemist, he would risk his own life to protect one of his own. Edward Elric succeeded my expectations, and now, I wish to test him by using someone he WOULDN'T know as a hostage."
Namine then asked, "…that's why you kidnapped me?" Crimson replied, "Well that, and Sora's sure to come to your rescue. When we meet again, I'll continue my tests and see if he's worthy of dealing the final blow to my eyesore of an archenemy. I need the Keyblade Master, but due to the Smurf's actions from our last encounter, I intend to see how far Edward would go to see justice be done." Namine then said, "But your plan's ridiculous! As you said, Edward wouldn't know me, so he wouldn't have any reason to rescue me!" Crimson then said, "Edward is a peculiar boy, but I have seen his value in his actions time and time again. One of these examples lies with his desire to protect thousands from Isaac McDougal's Winter Onslaught. He valued the lives of others, unlike so many who fought against me for Amestris' safety."
Crimson then walked over to Namine and with his thumb, he slightly lifted her chin to make eye contact with the girl and say, "He IS going to try and save you because his heart will force him to. A life and the living is what he cherishes more than his own, so when I say 'he will try to save you', then he will try to save you." Namine was about to say something, but something in Crimson's eyes caught her by surprise…
"…you're in pain, aren't you?"
Crimson twitched, and then he walked away…
"I know those eyes…you were crying for a long time."
Namine's words pierced Crimson, so he snapped his fingers, summoning his Golems!
"TAKE HER AWAY!"
Namine's arms were grabbed by the Golems and pulled while she said, "Please, let me help! I saw who you were and I know what you lost because I lost the same thing, I LOST A FAMILY!" Crimson then said, "I'm not too quick to believe the words of a witch. Besides, you can never understand."
"BASTION, PLEASE!"
Crimson was shocked, but when he turned around to face Namine, the doors were already closed, and she was taken back to her prison! Crimson was alone in the throne room, wondering how a teenage girl could know his secret…
Back in Risembool, Roxas ran through the night in the grassy fields, following the pathway to the abandoned mines. As he ran, he thought, Xion, please be alright!
At the mines, a hooded figure was standing before the entrance. The mysterious hooded person lifted the hood to reveal her short black hair and her blue eyes. The girl was in a trance, as the wind through her hair didn't cause a reaction at all. She slowly walked into the mines, following whatever was controlling her…
"XION!"
Roxas finally arrived near the entrance of the mines and called out, "Xion, please answer me!" Unfortunately, no one responded, and Roxas began to worry, "Damn it, why did I leave her?! We should've gotten the ice cream together but NO, I thought I could make it from there and back like a boss! Xion went this way…so the only thing left to do now…is to head inside the mines and hopefully find her."
"Oh-ho-ho, look who's here boys, it's another unwanted guest!"
Roxas turned around and saw a large Cat Genome (Pete), who was standing alongside two Doberman Genomes (Roscoe & Desoto), both eager to see some action!
Roxas asked, "So, the rumors were true, Genomes came to Amestris! What exactly are you three doing here anyway?" Pete replied, "Hmph, not that it's any of YOUR business, but we're-!" Desoto suddenly covered his mouth and said, "-Hold off on the lip-flapping, fatso, or do you WANT your boss's plan to be ruined?" Pete shook his head, thus Desoto said, "That's a good kitty, now back off. Roscoe and I haven't had anything fun to do since we went out searching for your stupid mirrors!"
Roscoe smiled and said, "Right you are Desoto, now then boy, how's about holding still for us while we drill our favorite artillery through your guts and see what you're made of, hmm?" Roxas answered, "You're monsters. I know, mixing animals makes the classic monstrosities, but seriously, you guys are SICK!" Roscoe sneered, "That's what the last Jane Doe said to me." Enraged by Roscoe's savagery, Roxas stands ready and said, "You…you take pleasure in killing people?! Then I'm gonna enjoy kicking that Dober-ass of yours STRAIGHT to Hell!"
(SNAP)
Roscoe snapped his fingers and summoned two armored Golems with blades for hands, "We make it our business to skin cats like you, but there's ALWAYS more than one way…isn't there Zip Slashers?" Desoto kicked Pete into the mines and said, "Adios 'chopped liver' HA-HA-HA-HAAAAAA!"
As Pete and the Dobermans left, Roxas turned towards his two new playmates…
"I'd prefer the salty flavor of Seasalt Ice Cream, but kicking your butts will be just as SWEET!"
(CHING-CHING)
Instantly, Roxas summoned two Keyblades! One that was curved, blocky, and seemed more fit for a dagger, and the other Keyblade was whitish-silver with a red ruby inside the tip of the blade! "Wayward Wind and Lost Memory, the symbols of my past, present, and future, and not even sword-sadists like you Golems can cut through that!"
The first Zip Slasher surprised Roxas by disappearing, then reappearing behind Roxas and attacking! Roxas however blocked the attack, but was batted away by the second Zip Slasher!
Roxas slammed against a wall and tried to get up, and then he noticed the Zip Slashers rushing towards him! Roxas swiftly blocked their blades and pushed them back!
Suddenly, one of the Zip Slashers noticed one of it's blades were cut off!
"So the Keyblade CAN cut through inanimate objects." Roxas said as his held the missing blade! Roxas then tossed it into the air, and using his Lost Memory Keyblade, sliced it in twain like butter! The Zip Slashers were almost startled by Roxas's skill, and before continuing the fight, Roxas said, "Axel and I can finally put that stupid argument to rest. So, you guys want some more?"
The Zip Slashers rushed towards him, so Roxas grinned and said, "OK FINE, YOU ASKED FOR IT!"
Back inside the mines, Xion found her way into the area where Sora fought the Riku Replica…
"Did you forget? I came here to save Rose…and the rest of our friends." Xion said.
Xion then glared at a wall and said, "You're wrong Riku, I'm NOT hopeless. I'll find a way to bring you back…as the childhood friend who saved me from the streets. That's why I'm going to save YOU next…because like Rose and the other orphans, you need my help…just as I need your help in finding them."
Xion's actions were then noticed by Pete, who wondered, "Um…guys…why is there a girl talking to herself in the caverns?" Roscoe looked inside the room and saw Xion, looking around while talking to herself…
Roscoe shook his head and said, "These days, you find crazies like her in the darkest part of the world. She won't mind us if we don't mind her, now let's keep looking. The Taharkan Scale's got a fix on the first mirror…" Pete nodded, "Y-you're right, let's keep looking."
Suddenly, Xion froze, rubbed her eyes, and wondered, "W-where…where am I? Roxas, Roxas where are you?!"
"My guess, he's already a cloaked falafel by now."
Xion spun around and saw Desoto creeping inside. Desoto then grinned at her and said, "What's a cute kid like you doing wandering into dark, spooky caves like this, huh? Don't you know it's…DANGEROUS? Hee-hee-hee-hee-hee…" Desoto's glare startled the cloaked girl, but Xion held her ground and said, "You know, picking on me because of my appearance is NEVER a good idea, 'Fido'." Desoto bragged, "Now who said I was picking on you? I actually admire what I can 'pick'. Let me tell you something…babe, you look good enough to pick off your bones, and you know what else? I haven't eaten for DAAAAAAAAAAAYS."
"Sexist PIG!"
Desoto snarled, "WHAT WAS THAT?!" And then he pulled out a chain whip and tried to swat Xion with it, but Xion dodged every attempt! Xion then surprised Desoto by grabbing the chain-whip and jerked it AND Desoto over her, forcing the Doberman Genome to collide with the wall!
Desoto snarled, "You HAG, NOBODY does that to me and lives!" Xion smirked, "Consider this a first."
Back outside, only one Zip Slasher remained to fight Roxas as the other one dissolved and released it's heart after it's defeat…
"You know, you can just run away. I might spare you, or-."
The Zip Slasher instantly attacks and pushes Roxas back! The Golem wasn't done yet though; it unleashes continuous attacks from different directions, catching Roxas by surprise!
(SLASH)
The Zip Slasher then injured Roxas's arm, forcing him to drop his Wayward Wind! As the Keyblade disappeared, the Zip Slasher kicked Roxas into the air and jumped towards him to deliver the final attack, but Roxas still had one trick in his other hand, the Lost Memory, which intercepted the Golem's attack!
The cloaked boy and the Zip Slasher then swung their blades against one another and fell while continuously attacking!
(KRA-KOOOOOOOOOOOOM)
Inside the mines, Xion felt the tremor from outside! She immediately jumps out of Desoto's way as he tried to stab her with a dagger, she then makes for the exit, but before she could reach Roxas, Desoto grabbed her by the hood and tossed her like a ragdoll and threw her against the wall!
"You're not going anywhere, baby. You're staying with uncle Desoto like the nice little girl I know you are!" Desoto sneered. Xion started to get back up, giving Desoto the opportunity he needs to attack! Desoto laughs, "I'LL HAVE YOUR CALVES FOR DINNER TONIGHT!"
(THWACK)
Desoto was instantly swatted away by Xion's sudden weapon!
Desoto spits out a tooth and notices Xion's weapon…
"A KEYBLADE?!"
Xion held her black Keyblade and rushed towards Desoto! The dog avoided the attack, but to his shock, Xion swung her Keyblade SO hard, she sliced a part of the wall like it was butter!
Desoto snarled and attacked, thus beginning a battle between blades! Xion was managing pretty well against Desoto's attacks, until their blades collided, and the two tried to push back. As they did, Desoto said, "I'll confess, you're the first teenager to lock horns with me!"
(KA-POW)
Desoto surprised Xion with a spinning kick, and then said, "The first and ONLY teenager to lock horns with me." Desoto then wiped his nose and said, "Y'know, I don't think I'm hungry for calves anymore. I think your pretty face'll do JUST FINE…"
(THWACK)
Suddenly, Desoto fell, unconscious form an attack from behind! Xion looked and saw Roxas, whose coat was almost torn up completely from the battle with the Zip Slashers. Roxas smiled and helped Xion up, "You still need some practice with the Keyblade, Xion, Oblivion's power AND size makes it difficult to master, but I think you'll master it in a few days."
Xion nodded, but was caught off guard by Roxas's hug. Roxas then said, "WHY DID YOU RUN OFF LIKE THAT?! I WAS SO WORRIED-!" Xion patted Roxas and said, "I-I felt another vision Roxas, I couldn't help it." Roxas asked, "Is this the same vision that led us across Destiny Islands? And the same one that got us involved with Xenotime?" Xion nodded, "Y-yes…Roxas, maybe we should…well…I'm becoming a problem for you, I understand that, so why don't we-?"
Roxas shook his head and said, "No Xion, you and me, we're partners, friends, teammates! Soldiers loyal to one another to the end, that's who we are! I was happy to support you AND help you become a Keyblade Master." Xion then said, "But…I can't be a Master if you're the one in need of the Keyblade the most. You know how to wield two Keyblades at the same time, not me. You're safer that way, without anyone holding you back…" Roxas then asked, "Who said you were-…oh wait…him. Well don't let him get to you. We're friends, Xion, and we should trust each other more, the fact that we share the Keyblade is a test of friendship that I'm not afraid to take! So let's prove that jackass wrong, let's share our Keyblades, you hold one, and I'll hold the other. From now on, we'll be the Dual Set of Masters, Xion and Roxas, Experts Extraordinaire!"
Xion smiled and giggled, "…thank you Roxas. I promise to be stronger with you!" Roxas nodded with confidence and said, "AWESOME, and you won't believe this! I know how to find them now, I really do!" Xion wondered, "…you mean…the Elric Brothers?" Roxas nodded, "The same brothers, Xion! When we find them, they can open the Gate of Truth for us, and we'll finally find out who we are…" Xion nods, and follows Roxas out of the Risembool Mines…
