Right. Left. Right. Left. Right or left? The question plagued Jane's mind. She was standing in the dark forest with the insects crawling over her feet and the large moths fluttering by her ears. She tried to bat them away with her hand but they remained there nipping at neck and arms. The darkness grew on her and it was now impossible to see. She was scared. Terrified. She fumbled around in the obscurity to find her wand. Or any wand. Just something so that she could see. There was now an icy chill that climbed across her body, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. She tried to rub her arms to make them feel warmer, but it was no use. She was stuck in an everlasting chill. "Jane" she heard, she almost cried. To hear his voice in the middle of this hell, was the greatest feeling of all. She struggled a smile and shouted out "Cedric !" she waited for a minute but got no response. "Cedric ! Cedric !" she shouted out in a frenzy as she tried to move forward "Cedric ! CEDRIC !"

"No I'm Draco" her brother said, she snapped back to reality, she was sitting on her brothers bed and Draco was looking at her like she was a mad woman, it was then she realised she had been shouting out loud. "I know you are silly, I was just checking you knew that" she said trying to shrug off the incident with a feeble laugh. "Of course I know I am" he said with a funny expression and then his face grew serious "Jane are you sure you're ok?" She fiddled with her hands and said "Of course I am, I mean you know apart from the obvious." Draco just nodded in acceptance not choosing to press the issue further. The two sat in silence for a while, Jane looked out of the window and saw a peacock being chased by a fox. She smiled to herself and then turned to her big brother, "Draco" she hesitated "What would you do if you thought you saw someone who you thought was connected to someone you knew but you weren't sure and if you told that person would it do them any good anyway?" she said hurriedly, she looked up to Draco who looked utterly confused "What on earth are you talking about?" She sighed loudly and then said "Well when I went to the ministry with father" Draco rolled his eyes at this, "Oh get over it, anyway, while I was waiting for father I saw an office with the name 'Blaise Hunter' on it"

"So?"

"So, I began thinking what if he was related to Blaise"

"Because they have the same name? Honestly Jane that's a little farfetched, so by your theory if I meet anyone called Draco I'm automatically related to them?"

"No!" she said hitting his arm "I know it sounds stupid and so I decided to ignore it but then the man came out of the office"

"And it was Blaise!" he mocked her. "Actually he looked an awful lot like Blaise, I means his mannerisms were completely different but he was tall and his eyes were exactly the same as Blaise's"

"What brown?" he said with a smirk .She glared at him "Well yes but they were exactly the same shade and size and they were just as beautiful and warm as Blaise's"

"Someone's in love with Blaise!" Draco teased her. "No I'm not!" she said her cheeks reddening "But seriously do you think I should tell him?" Draco didn't say anything for a minute, Jane could see he was thinking it over. "Well Blaise hates his father, but he's never met him I don't think he even knows his name, are you sure this man could be related to Blaise?"

"Positive."

"Well then I think you should tell him and then he can decide what he wants to do about it, knowing him he probably won't do anything about it but who knows." Jane nodded , she however did think that Blaise would do something about it. "Ok I'll tell him tomorrow."

Their mother came into Draco's room an hour later with their letters from Hogwarts. Jane opened slowly with a bored expression, she wanted to go back to the castle because her friends were there and it was a lot nicer than being here with her father but she did not want to go back to the place where she had made so many memories with Cedric. She saw that she had two new school books to get but apart from that the letter was completely boring. She turned to see her brother and mother with huge smiles on their faces "I'm a prefect!" Draco shouted, excitement all over his face. "Draco I'm so proud of you" Narcissa said hugging her eldest child, while Jane picked up the green badge and traced the snake with her fingers before it was snatched out of her hands "I think you'll find that's mine Jane" Draco said looking smugly in the mirror with the badge on his chest. Jane couldn't help but let out a small snigger. "Jane stop laughing at your brother, oh I must go tell your father" Narcissa said giving Draco a kiss on the head and walking out of his room. "I wouldn't laugh if I were you Jane, not now that I can give you a detention." he said with a sneer. She laid back on the bed and laughed "Oh please, you'd never give me a detention."

"Do you want to make a bet on that?"

"No I have enough money already" she said with a smirk before looking up at him and then said "Draco you're not going to abuse your powers are you?" he smirked the Malfoy at her before saying "I have no idea what you are talking about dear sister!"

Dinner was a tedious affair, with her father giving a big speech about how proud he was. Jane was extremely proud and happy for her brother but she did not like her father glorifying that Draco could now give punishments to all the 'filthy mudbloods'. The talk then turned to their new defence against the dark arts teacher "Now Jane you will already know your new teacher"

"Who is she or he?"

"She is Dolores Umbridge." Jane groaned "Now Jane don't take that attitude you will already be in her good books as I have told her that you will be more than willing to share information with her about Potter." Jane's eyes popped out of their sockets "What ?!" she almost shouted, to which Draco expressed a snigger. "Jane darling calm down," her mother said placing a hand on hers. "I thought I was only sharing information with the Dark Lord, surely we don't want that information getting around everywhere" she said nervously. "Well when the time comes of course you will share everything you know about Potter to the Dark Lord, but there's no reason not to sell a couple of stories to the press." Jane sat there dumbfounded.

The coldness gripped onto her bones and she shook violently. She knew what happened this time it grew darker and darker the longer she took to make a decision. So she flung the insects that were crawling over her frozen feet and took a tentative step towards the left path. She waited. Waited to see if anything happened. But nothing did. So she took a step, then another until she could no longer see the insect infested forest floor behind her.

"Jane darling wake up" she heard the voice of her mother "Its time to go back to school." Jane merely nodded and her mother left her alone. The sunlight blinded her as she sat up and she pushed the curtain to shut it. She fought her legs up to her chest and let out a solitary tear. She did not want to go back to Hogwarts. Everywhere she would go she would be reminded of him. His sweet personality. His smile. His laugh. The way he held her. The way he would look deep into her bright blue eyes before giving her a goofy smile and then placing his large strong hands on her neck and pulling her even closer to him before placing his soft lips on hers. A few more tears cascaded down her pale cheeks, she used her pyjama t-shirt to wipe the tears away. Be strong for Cedric she told herself and don't let him down. She dressed into a grey smock dress and black tights and black ankle boots before going downstairs where all her luggage was already meeting her, she grabbed a few grapes and strawberries before making her way out to the garden and looking around the beautiful place with its large trees and the large bluey green lake that today the sunlight danced on and she smiled at the time she had spent with Blaise and her brother. In the distance she saw a large owl with brown wings, she smiled and waved to the approaching owl, which proceeded to land on her arm. "Hey Claudia" she said stroking bird's feathers. "Ow!" she exclaimed as the owl nipped her right hand and grabbed a grape "Hey that was mine!" she teased the owl before kissing it's head and saying "You ready to go back to Hogwarts?" the owl gave no response "Yeah me neither" Jane said allowing the owl to fly ahead of her into the house and into her cage.

The station was packed as usual today, but the people all looked the same to her as she and her family passed them, her mother had an arm around her shoulder and Jane was grateful for her mothers comfort. At least she understood. Draco and their father went to put the luggage into the train, while Narcissa turned to her daughter "My darling Jane I know how hard this has been for you this summer, I wish I could have done more to help you" she stroked a piece of Jane's hair away from her face. Jane hugged her tightly and said "Mum you did more than you could, I love you so much, thank you." Narcissa hugged her back and kissed her head and said "Thank you my darling, I am so proud of you, so proud, I know this will be difficult for you going back, but if you ever need to come home just write, I love you , stay safe." Narcissa said goodbye to Draco and said to the two of them "Look after each other." As they did every year they replied "We will." They shared a nod with their father who said to them "Try to stay out of trouble." Draco just nodded but Jane said "No promises there." She sent him a smirk and hopped onto the train. "Did you have to say that?" Draco said with a pained expression,

"Oh come on it was fun, see you later chum." she said with a cheeky smile and gave him a quick hug. "See you later Jane, if you need me you know where I am" he said seriously

"Yep with that pig" he glared at her, she laughed and went on her tip toes and kissed his forehead "Thank you, love you."

She walked down the corridor past the occasional whispers of "Oh poor her" but the more common ones were "Oh poor Cho, her boyfriend her died and then it turned out he was cheating on her with that slut Malfoy girl." Nice to know what people think of me she said to herself and then she saw a skinny girl with long red hair. "Ginny!" she screamed and ran towards her best friend who hugged her tightly. "I've missed you so much" Jane said to her. "Me too" Ginny replied. Jane saw Harry behind Ginny and gave him a quick hug "Hi Harry, haven't seen you in a while" she said with a grin. "Come on let's go and find a compartment" she said and the three of them walked down the train. "Where's Ron and Hermione?" Jane asked as Ginny and her walked ahead of Harry,

"Oh they're in the prefect carriage" Ginny said looking through all the compartments searching for an empty one. "Well Hermione was an obvious choice but no offence why Ron ? I assumed Harry would be it"

"Don't worry, so did we" she laughed. "So what's this interesting news you're going to tell me?"

"I'll tell you later, away from prying ears" Ginny said as they reached the last carriage where Neville was standing outside. "Hi Harry.. Hi Ginny .. Hi Jane" he said to the three of them panting "Everywhere's full… I can't find a seat." Jane peered into the compartment to see a girl with dirty blonde hair with the weirdest of accessories, she recognised her instantly as Luna Lovegood as did Ginny. "Don't be silly she's alright" she said as they entered the compartment "Hi Luna is it ok if we take these seats?" She nodded "Thanks Luna" Jane said sitting next to the window. She heard Ginny ask Luna if she had a good summer but after that their words faded into the distance. This time last year, she had been sitting on Cedric's lap and he was giving her pecks on the cheek while they were talking and laughing with his friends. She thought about how much her life had changed in her life and she instantly hated it, she would never have imagined it being like this. She was just supposed to have said goodbye to her boyfriend who had a job in the ministry… SPLAT! Jane was awaken from her dreams by a dark green liquid attacking her face. She looked around to see everyone else was covered in the stuff, Harry especially, she couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. But her happiness soon changed to anger when the compartment door opened to reveal the one person could not stand more than any other. Cho Chang. Ginny sent Jane a look as if to say 'Don't do anything' Jane sent out a heavy sigh and glared at Cho. "Oh…hello Harry" she said in her annoying voice "Um… bad time?"

Anytime with you Jane would consider to be bad. Cho looked over to Jane who sent her look so dangerous that if looks could kill Cho would be writhing about on the floor, seconds away from death, what a shame that would be Jane thought with a smirk. "Oh…hi" Harry said, Jane rolled her eyes, what was his problem? What did he see in this girl? This question then prompted another one which scared her, what had Cedric seen in this girl?

"Um.." is this all this girl says thought Jane "Well just thought I'd say hello..bye then." Jane breathed a sighed of relief when the bitch left the compartment. "Never mind," Said Ginny, "Look we can easily get rid of all this." She then did the spell 'scourgify' and all the green goo vanished. "Eurghh she is so annoying" Jane exclaimed to the carriage.

"What's wrong with Cho?" Harry asked stupidly, Jane turned to him with a large glare "What's wrong with her? What's wrong with her? Are you seriously asking that question? She is a complete and utter bitch."

"Jane I think you should just calm down, I know you hate her and so do I but bitching about her is only giving her more attention," Ginny said reasonably. "Fine" Jane mattered and crossed her arms and continued to stare out of the window. The time passed numbingly slow, the food trolley passed but Jane did not buy anything despite Ginny telling her she should eat something. She was so angry at Cho for having the arrogance to come near her, granted she probably didn't know Jane was with Harry but it still made livid. Half an hour later Hermione and Ron entered the compartment. Hermione and Jane exchanged a hug and Hermione asked her "How are you?"

"I'm fine you know most of the time and then sometimes I feel like death would be the better option." Hermione gave her another tight hug for she had no words to say to Jane's response. They sat back down in their seats "Well there are two fifth year prefects from each house" Hermione said "Boy and girl from each."

"And guess who's a slytherin prefect?" Ron said bitterly, Jane expressed a smirk as she knew the answer to his question. "Malfoy" Harry said,

"Course" Ron replied

"Oh how I've missed you Ron" Jane said cheekily and sent him a smile. "You too Jane" Ron replied with a mouth full of chocolate. "And that complete cow Pansy Parkinson" Hermione said viciously. "You're joking!" Jane practically shouting,

"I wish I was" Hermione said sadly, Jane let out a sigh and fell back into her seat, great her life was going to be made hell, not that it wasn't already. "How she got to be a prefect when she's thicker than a concussed troll"

"And uglier than one" Jane muttered under her breath, but loud enough for Ginny to hear and then let out a small giggle. Jane sent her a small smile. She then gazed out of the window, taking another trip down memory lane.

The door opened for the third time and Jane inwardly groaned, could people not leave them alone? She however turned to see her brother and his so called friends standing at the door, she simply rolled her eyes , 'this will not go well' she thought 'ah well I must as well enjoy this while I can' she thought as she relaxed in her chair. "What?" Harry said angrily, Jane could see her brother's anger growing as did his subsequent smirk,

"Manners, Potter, or I'll have to give you a detention" He drawled and sent Jane a quick smile "You see, I, unlike you, have been made a prefect, which means that I, unlike you, have the power to hand out punishment."

"Yeah but you unlike me are a git, so get out and leave us alone" said Harry. Jane couldn't help but at this with the others, earning her a glare from her big brother. "Tell me, how does it feel being second best to Weasley, Potter?"

"Draco" Jane said warningly, he had crossed a line, but he choose to ignore her. "Shut up, Malfoy" said Hermione sharply. Jane expressed a smirk. "I seem to have touched a nerve, well just watch yourself, Potter, because I'll be dogging your footsteps, in case you step out of line"

"Get out!" Hermione almost shouted. Draco and the fat lumps snickered before turning to leave but Draco gave Jane a look as if to say 'come with me'. She begrudgingly got up and followed him out of the compartment. The two Malfoys walked down the corridor in front of Crabbe and Goyle "Why did you have to do that?" Jane asked as her brother pushed a few first years out of the way. "Well it wouldn't be a train journey without annoying Potter, weasel and the mudblood."

"You are cruel."

"No I'm not, just bored. Anyway have you spoken to Blaise yet?"

"No."

"Well why don't you go now he's in that compartment" he pointed to the one a couple down from where they were standing. "Yeah good idea, are you coming?" she asked him

"No I've got a few more people I need to visit"

"You mean you've got a few more people to bully"

"Well I wouldn't call it that" He said walking down the corridor with a smirk on his face. Jane just sighed and skipped to Blaise's compartment and threw the door open and was about to shout hello. Except Blaise was not alone. Blaise was sat on the seat with a girl's legs wrapped around his waist, his hands running through her blonde hair and his beautiful lips kissing hers fiercely.
