Kanji was still in pretty bad shape despite his brave show yesterday, so he didn't show up to school today either. Yukiko seemed to be in deep thought through most of the day. Chie had asked her if something was wrong, but she said she was just tired. Around lunch time, she approached you apart from everyone else.
"Um... If you don't mind, could you come to the bookstore with me after school?" She asked you. You raised a curious eyebrow, but nodded.
"Of course, I don't mind at all." You said with a smile. She smiled in return, seemingly a bit relieved.
"Thank you," she said, before the two of you headed back to class together. After school, you met up with Yukiko and made your way to Yomenaido Bookstore. You walked inside with her browsing around at the mass of books the small store had to offer. Strangely enough, even though Junes had a book section, this place prospered compared to the other places. Yukiko smiled as she purchased her book. You raised a curious eyebrow as she showed it to you. It was a book about job certifications.
"…Thank goodness. That was the last one. Sensei recommended this book to me because it has details on a bunch of different job licenses…" Yukiko told you with a smile.
"You're planning on getting a job?" You asked curiously. Didn't she work at the inn? Wouldn't another job be a bit much for her... unless she was really planning on leaving Inaba like her Shadow suggested.
"Uh-huh… That's right." Yukiko said a bit timidly. "Inside the TV… The "other me" said she didn't want to inherit the inn… I think… those were my true feelings. So I've decided to be a little more true to myself… I… I refuse to inherit the Amagi Inn! When I graduate… I'm leaving this town!" You stared at her with wide eyes. Was that how she really felt? Something inside of you said otherwise.
"…I said it." Yukiko said. "I said it! Haha…!" Yukiko had a refreshing smile on her face as she spoke. It was like a big weight had been taken off of her shoulders.
"So in order to live on my own, I'm thinking of getting a job license. I was thinking something along the lines of an interior decorator… What do you think?" She asked you with a smile. It did seem like she'd really thought this through quite a bit, so you smiled.
"Interior decorator, huh? Well, that is kinda cool." You said.
"It is cool, isn't it…?" Yukiko asked with a happy smile. "But it's hard. It costs money to get a license… And of course I can't tell Mother… If only there was a part-time job I could do discreetly…" She sighed, seemingly out of luck. That's when an idea hit you, she could do one of the jobs on the bulletin board!
"They're jobs available on the bulletin boards, ones that you can do at home, like making envelops and oragami." You suggested.
"Really…!? I'll go check the board, then!" Yukiko said, seemingly excited now. She seemed to be in much higher spirits now that she'd gotten all of this off her shoulders. "Thank you for keeping me company today. I was a bit nervous when I told you how I felt, but…Now that I did, I feel much better." You smiled to her and nodded, it was starting to get dark, so you parted with Yukiko as she headed toward the bulletin board and you went home. As you walked inside, Dojima called you over to him.
"Hey, [y/n], They say you did well on that last exam. I heard about it when I was investigating. It's great to see you're taking care of your responsibilities, even though you just moved here. I need to act like an uncle every so often and give you some spending money. But don't spend it all in… Nah, you can use it however you like." Dojima said with a smile as he gave you 20000 yen.
"Really? Thank you!" You said happily accepted the offered money. You certainly weren't expecting that! Dojima had already brought home take out, so you didn't have to cook. You sat down with Nanako and Dojima to eat together, than went upstairs to get some sleep.
