CHAPTER 38

I do not own Doctor Who and I am making no profit off of this.

AN OMINOUS NEW THREAT ARRIVES

"So you're still not going to give up the names of your contacts in the Celestial Intervention Agency, Mortimus? Do I really have to break out the mind probe and use it on you?" Rayna asked.

The Monk only smiled as he said, "You can try but it's not going to get you anywhere. Even the mind probe won't work on me."

"You're being just a bit arrogant aren't you? I mean mind probes don't really work on me either, but I certainly wouldn't want to have to go through one again anytime soon. Jammie dodgers don't taste right for weeks afterwards," The Doctor said.

By this point, the Capitol guards had been interrogating the Monk non-stop for several hours with no results. Even now he refused to give up a single piece of information to them and seemed just as unlikely to break as ever.

There was a reason for that and Rayna and the Doctor were about to find out exactly what it was.

"I'd listen to the Doctor if I were you, Mortimus. The mind probe has been known to leave terrible side effects on its subjects even well into their next regeneration," Rayna said.

The Monk laughed as he said, "Do you really think that I'm afraid of your mind probes or anything else that you can do to me? I am protected, Rani. Not even the High Council can touch me anymore."

"Really? Well, that protection of yours doesn't seem like it's been working so well for you so far. We caught you didn't we?" Rayna said.

"You didn't do anything. The Carrionite did and only because she used my own technology against me. The High Council won't be able to touch me because they've already been infiltrated. None of you know just how much of Gallifrey is currently under her control, but you will soon enough. Even the Celestial Intervention Agency is really under the control of someone else now, and they don't even realize it. Soon this entire universe will belong to her, and that's why I'm serving her willingly. She will reward me in the coming order by letting me live and giving me power such as you have never even dreamed about before," The Monk said.

Rayna and the Doctor looked at one another in surprise since this was the first time that the Monk had ever said anything like this. It was the first time that he had said anything at all for that matter.

The Doctor became instantly filled with curiosity as he said, "She? Who is she? Just who is this mysterious puppet master that you keep bragging about, Mortimus?"

The Monk began to laugh as he said, "If you only knew what I know, Doctor, you would be cowering in terror right now. Soon Gallifrey will fall and we will all be at the mercy of a new master."

"That still doesn't tell me much. You're going to have to give me more to go on here than vague threats and empty promises if you want me to be on my knees begging for mercy," The Doctor said with a grin.

"I'm truly going to enjoy watching her humble you, Doctor. I so hope that I have a ringside seat for that when she finally completely and utterly destroys you once and for all," The Monk said.

"I'm still hearing nothing but empty threats though. Where's the meaty bits, Mortimus? I want to see this mysterious new boss of yours show herself to me. If she's really as big and bad as you're making her out to be, then why doesn't she come here and break you out?" The Doctor asked.

"Oh, you'll see her soon enough now, Doctor. Very soon. You don't have to worry about that," The Monk said as he started to laugh once more.

"That's it. I've had enough! I didn't want to do this, but I see that I have no choice. Commander Maxil, prepare the mind probe," Rayna said with a sad look in her eyes.

"Ushas, wait. You don't have to do this. Just let me talk to him a little longer," The Doctor said.

"Do you think that I want to do this? It's something that the Rani would do, and I never want to be her anymore in any way. I have to do this though in order to protect Gallifrey," Rayna said in a voice filled with emotion.

The Doctor smiled at her and kissed her forehead as he said, "The fact that you're so upset about it shows me that you'll never be the Rani again. The Rani wouldn't care if she hurt anyone or not."

"Oh, she cared, Doctor. She always cared. She just learned early on how to turn her emotions off and detach herself from what she was doing. That was a mistake though. I know that now," Rayna admitted.

"You're feeling guilty for nothing, Ushas. Your precious mind probe isn't about to hurt me. It won't even affect me. My mind is protected from it. You'll find out as soon as you try it," The Monk promised.

"We'll soon see about that," Rayna said as she gestured for Maxil to take the renegade Time Lord away.

She immediately broke down as soon as the guards were out of sight, and the Doctor instantly comforted her. He had no fears whatsoever about the Rani ever returning after that.

"Thank you, Theta," Rayna said after she had regained her composure.

"Don't mention it. I was just doing what the Master would have done if he had been here. Where is he by the way?" The Doctor asked in a wary voice.

"What's the matter, Theta? Are you afraid that he's off planning to destroy you somewhere?" Rayna said with a soft smile.

"Yes, actually," The Doctor said only half kidding.

"He won't. He knows that I wouldn't stand for that anymore. Don't worry about that anymore. I'll keep you safe from him," Rayna said with a chuckle as she gave the Doctor a short kiss on the cheek.

The Doctor smiled at her and not for the first time he found himself being so glad that they were friends once again. They had once been very close when they were younger, and he was so glad that that closeness had returned between them once more.

"So what is he doing? Why isn't he here with you?" The Doctor asked.

Rayna's smile immediately faded as she said, "We've heard reports about the Divergence rearing their ugly heads once again lately. They've started to attack other worlds once again after staying out of sight for a while. It's almost as if suddenly they're so sure that they don't have anything to fear from us anymore. Koschei went to investigate that and to put a stop to it if he could, but I haven't heard from him in days now."

"Well, I'm sure that he's alright, Ushas. He's practically indestructible. Everybody knows that. How many times did we think that he was really dead, and he just popped back up again like nothing had happened? I was starting to think that he was cloning himself because he kept coming back from certain death so much. Actually I really wouldn't put that past him come to think of it. Anyway my point is that he's very, very hard to kill. He's almost as good as me at that," The Doctor said.

"I know. Nothing ever seemed to be able to get rid of either of you back in the old days. I once kept hoping that I would finally see the back of you at some point. Now I'm so glad that never happened," Rayna admitted.

"I guess I finally wore you down then, huh?" The Doctor said with a smile.

"Oh, shut up," Rayna said with a warm smile.

Then her face became mischievous as she said, "So when are you going ask Clara to marry you?"

The Doctor immediately turned red as he said in a nervous voice, "Well, uh, I'm p - planning on it. It's going to happen very soon now. Yes."

"Really? Or are you just lying to me? Again?" Rayna asked with a knowing smile.

The Doctor suddenly became completely serious as he said, "I was going to ask her after I was finished here as a matter of fact. I – I have to admit that I'm completely terrified."

Rayna smiled from ear to ear and hugged him tightly as she said, "Finally! It certainly took you long enough. I thought that you'd never do it. Whatever you do, Theta, don't chicken out. Okay? Ask her!"

"What if . . . What if she says no?" The Doctor asked in an uncertain voice.

Rayna looked at him in disbelief as she said, "Do you really believe that? Of course she's going to say yes. She loves you with all of her heart, Doctor. Stop worrying about what she's going to say and just do it already so that I can start being jealous of her."

"Jealous of her? Why?" The Doctor asked in confusion.

"Why do you think? Koschei still hasn't asked me to marry him yet. Even you're doing it now, and I'm still waiting. Don't think that I'm not going to mention that fact to him too once it happens," Rayna said.

"Great. That'll really make him love me won't it?" The Doctor said with a smile.

"I don't care. I'll use your proposal to Clara shamelessly if I have to in order to get him to finally pop the question too," Rayna said.

"Ushas? The way that you said that you were jealous just now?" The Doctor asked.

"Yes?" Rayna asked in an innocent manner.

"Were you sure that there wasn't more to it than just wanting the Master to marry you?" The Doctor asked in a hesitant voice.

Rayna shook her head as she said, "Of course not. Anything between us has been over for a long time now, Theta. We're just friends, very good friends, but still just friends. That's all that we can be, isn't it? I love Koschei and you love Clara after all."

"Yes, I do love Clara. I just wanted to make sure that you were feeling alright about everything. I would never want to hurt you by mistake," The Doctor said.

Rayna smiled and laughed as she said, "Trust me, Doctor. You're not going to be crushing my hearts by doing this. I'm fine, okay? I do love you but only as a friend."

The Doctor smiled and nodded as he said, "Good because you mean a lot to me."

"You mean a lot to me too, Theta. That's why I'm so glad that you're finally happy now," Rayna said as she hugged the Doctor once more.

The hug hid a momentary look of sadness that quickly became one of happiness for him. That part of her life was over with now even though she would always love the man that she had almost married once.

This moment of vulnerability was immediately interrupted when Commander Maxil suddenly returned and said in a shocked voice, "Lady President, the Monk . . ."

"Yes? What about him? You didn't kill him, did you? I never wanted that!" Rayna said in alarm.

"We didn't do anything to him, Lady President. I'm still not quite sure what happened to be honest," Maxil said.

"He escaped didn't he?" The Doctor said as he rolled his eyes at him.

Rayna's jaw dropped as Maxil said nothing and she immediately said, "I can't believe this! Don't tell me that you just lost him right in the middle of the Capitol?"

"Lady President, we had just started to use the mind probe on him when it suddenly exploded as soon as we turned it on! The Monk then began laughing at us and started to say something about his mistress coming to rescue him. We all naturally thought that he was mad until a glowing figure appeared and attacked all of us," Maxil said.

"What? Was it one of the Divergence?" Rayna asked in disbelief.

"I'm not sure. It all happened so fast that I couldn't tell," Maxil admitted as he looked away from her in shame.

"What all happened?" The Doctor asked with a slight smile on his face that showed that he was clearly enjoying Maxil's discomfort.

The Doctor had never liked Maxil ever since he had shot him and been instrumental in almost getting him executed once when Omega tried to use the Doctor's biodata to create a new body in order to escape his anti-matter universe. This incident had so traumatized him that the very next time that he regenerated he had subconsciously stolen Maxil's face and some of his arrogant personality as a result. He wasn't ashamed to admit that he still held a grudge against him even now for it.

"The glowing being, whoever or whatever they were, knocked me and the guards out all at once just as soon as it revealed itself to us. When we finally woke up a moment ago, the Monk was gone without a trace," Maxil said with a shamed look on his face.

Rayna looked at him in shock as she said, "You don't remember anything about what this being looked like? Nothing at all? Think carefully!"

"I couldn't even tell if they were a man or a woman. All I could tell is that they looked humanoid and that they were glowing so brightly that I could barely see them. The golden glow came from their entire body," Maxil said.

"It certainly sounds like the Divergence," The Doctor said.

"So the Divergence have grown so powerful that they can just waltz in here, steal someone right out of the Capitol, and then leave without a single shot being fired at them?" Rayna asked in a horrified voice.

Maxil continued to look embarrassed as he said, "I'll double the security here, Madam. No, I'll triple it. This won't happen again I assure you."

He started to leave and then he said, "Lady President, there was one last thing that I remember."

"Yes? What was it?" Rayna asked eagerly.

"The Monk called this being Nightshade," Maxil said.

"Nightshade? I don't know that name. Is that one of your enemies, Doctor?" Rayna asked.

"No, I don't think so. Not that I can remember offhand anyway. I've had so many enemies that it's hard to keep track of them all. They all kind of just blend together after a while," The Doctor admitted.

"I don't doubt that. I'm sure that there must have been an endless supply of people lining up to kill you, Doctor," Maxil said with a smug grin.

"That will be enough, Commander," Rayna said in an angry tone as she dismissed him.

"Yes, Madam," Maxil said as he hastily left the room still looking embarrassed at his failure.

"Oh, I'm so glad that for once Maxil can't get a free pass to mock me. I love having one of my best friends as the President," The Doctor said happily.

"It definitely has its perks, Theta. So was I was one of those enemies who blended together?" Rayna asked curiously.

"No. You were never my enemy. I never thought of you as one of them. Not even once," The Doctor said.

Rayna smiled at him with gratitude for that even as the Doctor said, "I wish I knew what Mortimus was talking about. Nightshade. That's just going to keep bothering me until I figure it out."

"You and me both," Rayna admitted as she started worrying about the Master all over again.

Was it possible that Koschei was in the hands of this Nightshade even now? Was that why he had never returned?

Meanwhile back on Earth at the Globe Theatre where the Doctor had left his crew while he tried to find out more about Mortimus' mission by himself, the others were all watching a new production of Hamlet being shown that day. What was of particular note about this production was that Lilith was in it playing Ophelia. Lilith had won the part immediately as soon as she had auditioned. It seemed that she had extremely impressed everyone with her acting abilities.

One of her fellow actors had even commented that Lilith was so good in the play that it was almost as if she had actually been alive in those times. Lilith had just smiled and said nothing.

"She's incredible. I never knew that she had it in her," Susan said as she watched Lilith with pride written all over her face.

"I certainly did. I'm still shaking from when she played Dark Lilith this morning, Susie. She certainly fooled me then," Donna said with a shudder.

"Yeah, she was definitely convincing that's for sure. I guess we kind of deserved that though for having doubted her. I should have known that she'd never hurt you," Amy admitted.

"Why should you have known that?" Susan asked.

"Oh, please. It's like an unwritten rule during most of our fights. You're just too sweet to attack or something it seems. Most bad guys leave you alone if you haven't noticed, Susie. Only the lowest of the low ever go after you," Jenny said.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Susan said in confusion.

"I do. I call it the Susie Factor. Even the bad guys don't want to hurt you because it would just be too mean even for them. You're like a baby deer or something," Amelia said with a snort.

"I am not!" Susan protested.

"Leave your sister alone, girls. Stop teasing her," Clara said in an irritated voice.

"Thank you, Mum. I'm glad that someone here knows that that's not true," Susan said as she began to pout.

Clara smiled at the look on her face because it reminded her so much of her father. She missed him so much at that moment and couldn't wait for him to come back. She had finally come to an important decision during that last fight when she had thought that something had happened to him. Now she was finally going to do something that she should have done a long time ago as soon as the Doctor returned.

She wasn't putting it off any longer.

The play soon ended and Lilith left the stage to thunderous applause as she smiled with pride. Her acting career had been more successful than she ever thought that it would have been in her wildest dreams.

As she went backstage and entered her dressing room, she was surprised to find that Jack Harkness was already in there waiting for her.

"Hello," Lilith said in a nervous voice.

Jack laughed as he leaned back in her chair and said, "You have enough power to kill me, at least for a little while anyway, with a flick of your little finger, and you're nervous to be alone with me?"

Lilith smiled as she said, "First of all, Mr. Harkness, I'm nowhere near as powerful as you seem to think that I am. Second, I'm not afraid of being alone with you in any way, shape, or form. Third, I'd never hurt you."

Then her smile turned into a frown as she said, "Not anymore anyway."

Jack looked at her intently now as he said, "We've met before haven't we? I remember you from somewhere but every time I try to remember anything more than your face I come up completely blank. I mean it's no surprise that I can still remember your face, but why can't I remember anything else about you? You don't seem like someone that I'd ever forget."

Lilith took a deep breath and hesitated for a brief moment before she finally said, "Your memory was erased by the Doctor in order to preserve the timeline, but we have met before, Jack. Let me help you to remember it now."

She gestured at him and chanted a quickly thought up spell for a few moments, and then all of Jack's memories of her suddenly became fully unlocked for the first time in a very long time.

He now remembered everything about how she and her mothers had kidnapped him in 1599 . . . especially how Lilith's mothers had tortured him.

She could see those memories in the pain that suddenly filled his eyes.

"I am so sorry. If I could undo all of that I would," Lilith said in an upset voice.

Jack nodded even as he swallowed hard while trying to process all of the emotions that these new memories suddenly brought up in him all at once. Then to Lilith's surprise, he put his hand on her face and lightly stroked her cheek with a smile on his face.

"Thank you. I know that had to be hard to admit to me," Jack said.

"I couldn't go on lying to you anymore especially since you and I . . ." Lilith said trailing off before she could finish her sentence.

"Yeah, since you and I seem to have something happening between us," Jack said finishing for her.

"So it isn't just me then. You feel something for me too?" Lilith asked sounding almost amazed at that.

"Why wouldn't I?" Jack asked with a smile as he continued to lightly stroke her face.

"You know why. My mothers did terrible things to you, and I just stood by and watched. I didn't do anything to help you," Lilith said.

"I forgive you. I could tell even then that you weren't really into what they were doing by the way that you didn't join in. In fact, I remember that you looked at me with pity and what seemed like guilt once. I don't think that you were ever really as bad as your mothers wanted you to be," Jack said.

"I'd like to think that I wasn't," Lilith said even as she tried to fight the urge to kiss him.

"You weren't. I believe that," Jack said as he pulled her closer to him.

"Jack, are you sure about this? This isn't even my real face and I'm not human," Lilith said.

"I like who I see on the inside, Lilith. I have to admit though that the outside isn't bad either. I'd still love you even without this face however especially after the way that you've made Susie so happy lately. As for the not human thing . . . You may have heard stories about me going around, Lil. Well now's the time to set you straight on them once and for all. They're all true!" Jack said as he finally gave her a long passionate kiss.

Lilith smiled and finally gave in as she eagerly returned his kiss. Yes, she could definitely learn to like traveling with the Doctor.

At that moment, the Doctor finally returned to the Globe in his TARDIS. He materialized right next to the stage in the hopes that if an audience saw him that they would think that it was all a part of the play somehow. As soon as he opened the doors though, he noticed that the audience was gone and all of the seats were empty.

He immediately started becoming angry with himself for coming too late. Now he would have to wait even longer to talk to Clara while he had to search for her. He wasn't sure that his nerve would hold out that long.

Suddenly the Doctor was almost knocked over as a figure seemingly came out of nowhere and wrapped their arms around him tightly. Before he could even see who it was, they were giving him a deep kiss.

As soon as the kiss ended, the Doctor said, "I really hope that's you, Clara."

Clara pretended to be angry as she said, "Were you expecting to be kissed by someone else today, Doctor?"

"No, but I get kissed by total strangers more often than you'd think," The Doctor said.

"Well, I certainly remember the Zygon, Doctor. I hope that I'm a little better at kissing than it was," Clara said.

"Oh, you definitely beat the Zygon in every possible way. Besides that was Matchstick Man not me. He really would kiss anyone," The Doctor said.

"I seem to remember this version of you kissing quite a few people here and there yourself, Doctor," Clara said.

"Not anymore. I'm only going to kiss you from now on," The Doctor said with a smile as he wrapped his arms around her.

Then he paused and said, "Clara, there's something that I need to ask you."

"Doctor, I need to ask you something too and I need to do it now," Clara said.

"I should probably go first, Clara," The Doctor insisted.

"No, I should. I definitely should," Clara said in a firm tone.

The Doctor knew from the way that she said that that he probably wasn't going to change her mind so he said, "Let's just ask both of our questions together at the same time then on the count of 0. 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . ."

"Will you marry me?" Both the Doctor and Clara asked at the exact same time completely surprising each other.

Then they both burst out laughing at one another and quickly kissed while continuing to smile. They had each been so worried about how the other would react that now that they both knew that the other one wanted to get married too they were filled with unbridled joy.

"Well, who should answer who do you think?" Clara finally asked with a wide grin.

"Does it really matter?" The Doctor asked as he kissed Clara.

"Of course it matters. Then that person gets all of the credit for the rest of time. I don't want you getting the upper hand on me, Doctor. I want the record to show that I asked you too instead of waiting for you to do it first. I mean how was I to know that you'd actually do it? I never thought you would," Clara said.

"Neither did Ushas," The Doctor admitted.

"You told her first? Why am I not surprised by that? You tell her everything. She's practically your sister," Clara said laughing.

"Well, that's certainly the way that I feel about her," The Doctor said.

"It's not how she feels about you," Clara said.

The Doctor looked at her in surprise as she said, "You didn't know, did you? She still has feelings for you. It was obvious to me a long time ago. We actually talked about it once, and she finally admitted it."

The Doctor's eyes widened as he said, "She told me that she didn't."

"Of course she did because she wants you to be happy and not to worry about her. She loves the Master more if it helps you any, Doctor, so don't say a word about this to her, okay?" Clara said.

"Oh, I definitely won't. Believe me," The Doctor said as his face turned red.

"So does that affect anything knowing that?" Clara asked in an uncertain voice.

"Of course not. I love you and only you. Why don't we just answer each other at the same time too? That way we'll both get the credit," The Doctor suggested.

Clara smiled as she said, "Sounds good to me. 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . ."

"Yes!" Both of them said in unison once more and then they began to kiss passionately.

They suddenly broke apart as the sound of loud clapping filled the theatre behind them. They turned to see all of their fellow TARDIS crew members smiling and cheering at them.

"Apparently everyone heard us," The Doctor said.

"Yep. How about that? Are we going to let that bother us or do you want to keep on kissing, Chin Man?" Clara asked.

"Oh, I'm definitely for more kissing. Just for future reference, I'm always in favor of more kissing," The Doctor said enthusiastically.

"Good to know," Clara said as she proceeded to do exactly that.

"Do we have to watch this?" Amelia said with a frown.

"What's wrong with it? I think it's great," Susan said.

"Yeah, you would," Amelia said as she pretended to hate it when she was actually so glad to see her father so happy.

Not that she would ever admit that though. She was her mother's daughter after all.

"Do you think that they'll tell us when the wedding is?" Jenny asked Amy.

"No, not anytime soon I don't think, Jen. We'll probably have to wait until this time tomorrow or maybe next week," Amy said with an evil grin.

"Surely they won't take that long to decide on a date," Jenny said in disbelief.

"No, that will take even longer. I meant that it'll take that long just for them to stop kissing," Amy said laughing.

"Doctor?" Clara said between kisses.

"Yes?" The Doctor asked.

"Remind me to smack Red really hard upside the head later on for that little remark," Clara said.

"Will do. Then I'll be sure and be in the next time zone a moment later," The Doctor said with a frightened look on his face.

Clara laughed at him even as they continued to kiss.

Later that night, Amelia want to bed still not knowing when the wedding was going to be because as it turned out Amy had been absolutely right. The Doctor and Clara had been too busy being happy and enjoying the moment (while kissing) to even start to discuss the wedding date just yet.

Not that Amelia could blame them really. She'd want to take some time and plan the whole thing out too before just announcing a day out of the blue.

In the unlikely event that she was ever going to get married that is.

She went to sleep still thinking about the wedding when suddenly she found herself having that same dream once again. It was the same one that she had been having night after night for the last week now with her mother in it.

It was an incredibly frustrating dream too because she couldn't understand a thing that River said in it. She had tried and tried to understand her, but somehow for some reason it was like she had her head underwater and couldn't hear anything.

What was really bothering her about this dream was that River looked very worried about something, and it was obvious that she was desperately trying to tell her about it. She knew just from the look on her mother's face that it had to be something important about the future. Yet night after night she still came no closer to understanding what she was saying to her than she ever had though.

That all suddenly changed tonight.

"Amelia, can you hear me now? Amelia!" River shouted as the dream began with her and Amelia standing at the opposite sides of a raging river just like it always did (which is why Amelia could never get close enough to hear her).

Amelia smiled now as she said, "Yes! I can hear you. Is this really you or just another dream?"

River glared at her as she said impatiently, "Just do me a favor and treat it as if it were real, alright? Tell your father everything that I'm about to say immediately as soon as you wake up."

"I will. I promise," Amelia said.

"Good because I'm burning up a lot of energy to come through to you as clear as I am tonight. The reason that you couldn't understand me before is because I didn't have enough power to fully project myself into your subconscious mind. CAL helped me with that tonight though by shutting off most of the Library for a few hours in order to conserve energy. Now listen up, Amelia. This is very important," River said.

"Is it about the future?" Amelia asked.

"Stop asking questions and just listen. I don't know how much time I have. I know that I always say not to tell anyone any spoilers, but this time I have to in order to save all of reality. You have to warn the Doctor about someone extremely powerful that's coming to kill him in the very near future. Someone called Nightshade. She's easily one of the most powerful enemies that he's ever met before. She's already taken over half of the government on Gallifrey by making them into her mind-controlled puppets with her powers. He has to be extremely wary of her. She can possess anyone and he'll never know who is or isn't under her control. She wants to completely take over the entire universe, and she knows that he's her biggest obstacle to doing that so she has to get rid of him quickly. This is very important, Amelia. Tell him that Nightshade will wind up taking control of . . ." River said and then suddenly she was cut off in mid-sentence.

"Who? Who will she take control of? Mum?" Amelia asked in an urgent tone.

River could only stand there in despair as she tried to say the name over and over again, but Amelia couldn't hear her. She even tried to read River's lips, but her image was already fading so that she couldn't see them clearly.

"I'm sorry. I can't understand you, Mum. I'll tell him the rest though. I promise," Amelia said.

Then as River started to fade away completely, Amelia said, "I love you."

River smiled and Amelia was sure that she said it back to her. Then she was instantly gone.

A moment later an image of a woman with golden energy surrounding her body appeared in front of her and stood threateningly over her. Amelia unconsciously moved back from her in terror as the woman started to laugh at her.

"Warn him all you like, Amelia Song. It won't do any good in the end though. Tell him that I will be there for him soon. Soon I will destroy him along with everything and everyone that he cares about, and there won't be anything that he can do about it. Tell him that, Amelia. Oh, and in case you were wondering if this was still just a dream or not, let me give you a hint," The golden woman said.

Then she touched Amelia on the shoulder, and Amelia screamed in pain as a burning palm print suddenly appeared there. The woman started to laugh at her even as Amelia suddenly woke up screaming.

Then to her horror, she realized that her shoulder was still hurting!

She slowly looked down at it in dread, and then began to scream once more as she saw that the same palm-shaped burn from her dream was actually there in real life. It was actually real.

"Dad!" Amelia screamed as she instantly bolted out of her bed and raced to her father's room.

Somewhere in time and space meanwhile, the golden woman known only as Nightshade continued to laugh.

Next: We learn more about Nightshade even as more is discovered about the recent return of the Divergence. Are the two events connected somehow? What happened to the Master anyway? Oh, and will the Doctor and Clara ever stop kissing long enough to set a wedding date?

Even I'm not sure about the answer to that last question.
